Rubio's

Their shrimp and langoustine tacos are consistently outstanding. The combination of flavors in the sauce are wonderful! I've been eating at various Rubio's stores since about 2004 and I don't remember ever being disappointed.

Greatest tasting classic chicken taco with homemade corn tortillas, that I've eaten in a long time. Young man who took our order was so polite and helpful.

Damn was I starving after hours of shopping ! Thank God this place was just a short walk away. You won't leave this place hungry. They have the best tortillas!

Rec'd an email w/a coupon for a free meal to celebrate my birthday. Since I've developed a gluten intolerance, instead of anything w/tortillas I ordered a California Bowl w/grilled salmon and quinoa instead of rice. Added salsa from the bar. OMG! It was to die for! Esp. because it for was a hot day. Can hardly wait to return and get another one. Also, the manager is always so nice and welcoming and remembers my name at the Encinitas store. Great inside and to-do service!

Lunch yesterday, their wild caught shrimp with Mexican street corn bowl, was outstanding. I wished there had been more or larger shrimp, but the flavors were delicious.

I've been eating here for over 20 years. It has held up through the years, and is one of the first places I eat at when I come back from out of state. Great food, great vibe, great service. I highly recommend this place!

Rubio's never gets old. Lite refreshing healthy Mexican food, all the flavor none of the guilt. And I can come here with my picky eating sons that do not like the same food all at a great price point.

11/26/19 7:00pm - The restaurant was very busy, the phone never stopped ringing, they had a lot of to-go orders, plus everyone eating in-house. The staff seemed to remain calm, work together, and get the job done. We had a bit of a wait for food, but they never stopped working, and sure enough everything came out, without issue. Kudos to the team for working hard to get the job done on a busy night. This level or work ethic is becoming less common, support this location for that reason.

A very nice, clean, happy little restaurant location. The Mexican street corn bowl and sides are delicious and affordable. The staff are friendly and sweet. Will definitely be coming back!

I order some food for pickup. When I came in the store I was greeted by the manager Jacob. Jacob was very friendly and had my order ready. The food was great!! I just wanted to thank Jacob for the great customer service and friendliness!! Specially with all this pandemic is nice to deal with friendly people like Jacob!! I haven't been to a Rubio's for a few months. It was a nice change of pace with a really good tasting fish I hadn't had before. It was a little more expensive than my usual, but we'll worth the cost.

Shout out to Rubios! For a birthday party we ordered 15 burritos (30 halves) and a quesadilla platter for the kids. All was delivered on time right to Moonlight beach. We got a lot of compliments. Delivery drivers were very friendly. They included lots of salsas, a big box of silverware, and the sides are more than they look like in the pictures. It was plently of food. 100% recommend.

Good food and consistent with other Rubio's. The staff was kind but this is the slowest Rubio's I've been to. Perhaps they were jammed with online orders because the dining room was not packed by any means. The fish was a little on the smaller side but tasted very fresh.

The people who work here are like family. Always welcoming, always kind, and they remember you. The food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is easy and comfortable. I come here a lot, sometimes two or three times a week, and it never gets old. This place has been part of my life for a long time, and I’m really grateful for it.

The staff went above and beyond. I am often running around for work and rarely eat any other fast food except Rubios. Your food is fresh and healthy. I wish you had more locations. Please open one in Bend Oregon. There are so many Californians there that I know it would be very successful. An In and Out opened in Bend and they are printing money at that location. It is always packed.

Rubio's has always been I really good place to come have lunch and I've always loved them however the reason why I'm docking one star this time around is because it's become a little bit expensive and we used to be able to add things like extra rice beans or pico de gallo salsa without extra charge however now they want almost $2 to add a very small amount.. it just seems a bit much to me.. anyhow if that ever changes all update this review to a five-star because their food is definitely good and we will continue going there..

Good and cheap Mexican food. Have been going here since it opened in 90s and always had nice food. One star off because it just can't compete with more authentic Mexican food in the area.

Their fish tacos are awesome and affordable. Check for specials on Tuesday afternoons. The restaurant is clean and the service is friendly.

Attending SDSU, I walked past the original location a few times a day going back and forth to classes. Never cared for anything on the menu with the exception of the original fish taco!

It's been such a long road since the first Rubios in Pacific Beach opened. A lot has changed but what has not is the amazing salsa and traditional fish taco. I hope it never changes because the original has been around for this long for a reason. It's good!

I like this rubios, I ordered a Chicken cheese quesadilla and it was flawless, the rice was great, but I have one concern, they are in very small containers, and I wish it was served on a plate. Not so expensive and so much better then other fast food chains.

Never been in one before. But it was great. I asked for a quesadilla with corn tortilla since I can't have flour tortillas and even tho they don't have it in the menu they did it . Great tortillas and beef !

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Always get the Especial plate. Two great fish tacos, beans & chips. Fish was flaky & perfectly cooked. Will be back!

Decided to have lunch here, arrived a little before 1:00, there were 8 people on line ahead of me, but it moved quickly. Ordered the shrimp verde tacos, they were very good, and came with chips & pinto beans. I used a Yelp Check-in coupon for $2 off an entree. Service was as expected because it was busy. Will go again soon! .

Excellent fresh seafood chain. Pretty fast and this store's employees are Hard working and polite. We eat here almost every Friday during lent and have never been disappointed. I personally love the shrimp burritos.

Rubio's is one of the better fast casual restaurants, and their fare is generally outstanding, if not over-priced (more than $4 for a two-bite taco?). Still, the flavors never disappoint, and the staff at this location is particularly helpful, and pleasant. Just tried their Grilled Gourmet Shrimp Taco for the first time, and as always, it tasted great. And when you hit the salsa bar, be sure to try some of their homemade chipotle salsa. It's our favorite.

I love Rubios. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup which was delicious but it must have been sitting out for awhile because it was cold when they brought it to me. Like not even luke warm. I'm sure I could have asked for a new one but I had my 5 year old with me and wouldn't have been worth the trouble. It did have great flavor though, I look forward to trying it again hopefully hot next time.

I have always enjoyed Rubios fish tacos! Tuesday $2.50 Special is a good deal. I got 3 fish tacos with all the fixings. Thoroughly enjoyed them and totally satisfied!

Love the food from Rubio's. Service time at this location is long. Busy place, so order well in advance.

Just too many GREAT fast taco places in town to rank it higher than 3. Sure...it's fine and fast. Food quality is mediocre and fish quality can be inconsistent. For fish tacos I'd hit Fish House or Fish 101, for other tacos I'd go to Los Tacos or Taco Stand.

The cashier was excellent, polute,friendly, helpful however the Encinitas Rubiis chicken quesadilla was disappointed, the guacamole etc was little and wet ,the tasty was not the same and the restaurant smells like a house that was close forever,smelling must. Rubios it's an excellent food chain but this one in Encinitas needs to improve except for the cashier that was awesome!

I live Rubio's but three are having a hard time finding reliable employees. They got my order wrong twice. I had to return once to fix it and when I got home it was wrong again.

The food was good, the cashier Peter was friendly, however I was given only 2/3 of portion of guacamole, the 4 oz container was not full and the manager said that it supposed to be that way. Disappointing.

I like Rubio's but kind of got burnt out on them. It's good they change up the menu now and again. We got fish tacos. It was taco Wednesday so not expensive.

The menu difficult to understand all that is offered. They have a big poster of a dish but no price and it's not listed on the main menu. I am 'sauce free' in my diet and I caught the order in time to leave the sauce off my taco. This apparently made my order take longer to do. But they also left the sauce off the other one (for my husband) but that's okay. Everyone should go sauce free. I moved here from the LA area 5 years ago. Rubio's is such a SD thing because of the founder. The town I came from only got one in 2010 I think. Up there it's Baja Fresh everywhere. Honestly the fish tacos at Del T are just as good for a way lower price. I hardly ever go to a Rubio's.

First of all, everyone enjoyed themselves, service was good. Food, was not up to standards from what I have experienced before at other Outback Steakhouses. That's why I gave only 3 stars. Atmosphere was typical of Outback. We ordered 2 Prime Ribs, 1 Porterhouse, and the Blooming Fried Chicken dish. Food could have been better for the $200 we spent. I really like Outback. This one must have been having an off night..

They were not patient enough for my wife who was not fluent in English. She was slow on ordering the food and the guy got very impatient. She was crying after she ordered the food. This all happened while I was out getting my cellphone in the car ...

I order a kids chicken quesadilla and several times the quesadilla had no chicken. Unfortunately my kids like it when they do get it right or else I would never go back.

First time at rubios. Expected fast casual - this is definitely not. It is fast food. But that's not the reason for the bad rating. Ordered shrimp tacos and the shrimp were raw, barely cooked, still blue greyish. We told the manager and she brought out a new order. Shrimp we're raw again. I asked for a refund and they gave me one.

Loved Rubio in the past but I feel as they've grown over the last decade the quality of their food has slowly declined. It use to have amazing food. Now it's average to below average depending on what you get.

The advertisement/coupons are great and all and the food looks fantastic. When actually getting a bowl here the proportions are quite small and yet still fairly expensive. The taste is meh at best, why did you guys lower the proportion sizes from earlier this year. My dinner is now more or less a snack. I’m 6 3” 200 pounds, most places that sell dinner for 12-15$ everything is made in proportions to at bare minimum satisfy someone of my size. I’m always hungry after eating here.

Rubio's has removed all of their good vegetarian options, so I cannot go there with family and friends. Rubio's seems to not understand, that if one person in a group is vegetarian, and there are no good vegetarian options, then the entire group cannot go there.

Longtime Rubio's fan from days when you could count on a super tasty value meal. I've been disappointed the last couple of years and given them a pass because of the pandemic. But no more. Prices are crazy high and the food just isn't any good anymore. The Coastal Trio was cold and the fish(?) Either soggy or chewy - ugh! I'd be willing to pay the higher price, but the quality and flavor just aren't there. Sad... Update 6/30: Sorry to say, sad to report but no real improvement. After being comp'd a meal for 2star review, I tried shrimp trio taco and ate on the patio. Taste and texture better, but third taco fell completely fell apart. I may give a burrito another shot sometime, but for my money I'm looking for Chipotle to re-open and new Mendocino Farms. Encinitas is a tough fast food market. Have seen many come and go...May be time gor Rubio's to bid farewell.

Disappointed, big brown spots on my avocado slices. Check your food before you leave. The cook needs to go back to school.been going to Rubio's since 1989, I'm done with them.

Cold tortillas cold fish and shrimp, paid almost $14 for 3 tacos and a fountain drink. Was asked to wait outside while I saw a guy waiting inside with no complaint. Will never go back.

Litterally called over the phone to make sure they got my order right and explain exactly what I wanted. Don't know if they gave me the wrong order or the chefs didn't care enough but it wasn't even close. The manager was nice about it but I'm not going to Rubio's for the nice service.

Ordered blackened mahi tacos for my daughter and I. I’m very accustomed to spicy foods being from New Orleans and living in Texas nowadays. Love spicy actually and not just saying this. But these blackened tacos were basically all cayenne pepper. There was no other seasoning in it or if there was it was incredibly overpowered by the mega dose of cayenne. If this is how you treat customers and you’re ok with it I’m leaving a one star review. Horrible. Threw away food and never coming back.

I got the shrimp taco platter. It was inedible. There was some non-identifiable thing wrapped inside the taco, I couldn’t tell if it was meat or vegetable. The tacos were soggy. The chips were soggy. And I ordered rice and instead got beans. I have just walked out and will never return. Oh, and finally, they have the nerve to ask for a tip before you get served. Never going back.

We ordered on line, and were there within 10 min to pick up. There was someone ahead of us picking up a large order . Only one counter service person. We waited 10 imin to get our order, and she made a comment that made my husband feel insulted: when we got home our food was cold: never again Rubiios. Ordered 5 menu items at about 5:45. Our chips and a salad were delivered at 6:45, and nothing else. Called the manager to ask where the rest of the food was, and he said it would be delivered. After waiting close to 2 hours, we called again at 8:30 and the manager said our food had been sitting in the restaurant for about an hour. We never ended up getting our food. Will not be ordering from here again

Asked for no rice, no tomatoes since I am on the keto diet but here they are. There is barely any steak, guacamole, cheese or sour cream. Waste of $20. You get much more food from their competitor Chipotle. Thought I'd try something new. Utter failure.
