Opinions de The Shanty Eureka
This is a place were both dreams and nightmares come to life, in the best of ways. I have always considered this place as a second home. Friendly staff, good drinks, great atmosphere. You will always remember [or not] your time at the Shanty.
Awesome Stop! Best bar in Eureka! Great Patio and Beer
Legendary rocker dive bar. Cool art, great bartenders. Back patio. Great drinks and best prices around. PS don't tell anyone!
This place is awesome of you like foshizzle holes with black and purple paint on their nutrition walls. There's an outdoor section with pool and ping pong tables and seating situations fourt lovers, and original Artwork on the walls. In the crappiest part of town in a crappy town, this is a gem - a heavy metal fan's utopia.
We were visiting from Oklahoma and came thru the other night. We had a really good time. We were with some family that lives in the area and it was a really chill place with a nice vibe. I drank the Shanty Paloama and it was on point! Thanks again for being a part of a good memory. 💚💃🙏
My favorite hangout in Eureka. Eclectic, diverse people having a good time. Strong drinks. Friendly bartenders. Pool tables both inside and on the covered back patio.
Why aren't you at the Shanty? But seriously, this endearingly scruffy bar has the best staff, the cheapest tasty drinks, and they look out for their patrons. My perennial fave.
Great bar that is very nondescript from the outside but very lively inside. Pool tables, one inside, one outside on the back patio, along with a ping pong table. Local art, reasonable prices, cool crowd.
This place is a classic dive bar. Come hang out with locals, play ping pong, and chill. No extra frills here, if your looking for something classy try the bar next door.
A great, upbeat place to come and have a drink or three. Great music from an old school jukebox, and Mike is an extremely personable and efficient mixologist. Plenty of things to distract you.
Went there Wednesday December 38th. The bartender, Nick was very friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to accommodate my request for a sports program and I appreciate that.. I Highly recommend this place. Thanks Nick!. I wish that I could have been more beneficial to the atmosphere here! I love the people who work here and what they do! . Happy trails ❤️
Nothing but good things to say; Halloween '24 🎃 Everyone was having a great time, the service was top notch and the tunes were ON POINT. I heard Forest by the Cure, Dead Souls by Nine Inch Nails, Hybrid Moments by the Misfits, Cry Little Sister by Carfax Abby and More Human Than Human by Rob Zombie, and I wasn't even there that long. How can you go wrong??! I'm a transplant and I wish there'd have been more time, we found this place at the end of our night. I plan to be there next Halloween. Solid gold.
I liked this hole in the wall. Visiting from out of town had a punk rock vibe with cheap drinks and a nice outside smoking area that was covered from the rain.
The shanty is a place that do not serve food just drinks and bar snacks. It's a warm atmosphere, loving locals and just plain old down to earth people. If you're looking for a place to set back and have a cocktail or two this is the place.
If you're after a great time in a small unique bar, Shantys your place. I highly recommend the Guava margarita as a light and refreshing island on your journey through Eurekas night life. Extremely friendly bar staff and great service! Be prepared for a narrow building, but it'll just make for a more intimate expirience!
My previous night hung low and drew my wit to a slow walk. "Cheap sunglasses and cheaper beer", is what I wanted to say, but I drooled a moan and crawled the Saturday morning streets, ablaze with white teeth and answered weekend prayers. I sat on 3rd st. I writhed. I saw the end of my days with no shepard, this is it. I opened my eyes like shallow cuts stinging with the salts of my sweat... The Shanty. I bound to my feet filled with goals and conviction for them I ran to a bar stool where I ordered a PBR tall can for $3. I used the lavatory and felt refreshed. A smoking section in the back and great atmosphere! There's a juke box and even live bands sometimes. A great place to take friends and celebrate life at a wonderful dive! 10/10
2 pool tables, a ping pong table, you can bring your dog! Also, the staff are great and the people who go there are super friendly. I always love it when I'm there and have a great time.
By far the best bar in Eureka, if not in all Humbolt County. Lots of rustic charm and character. Good drink specials and oodles of atmosphere.
Fun little dive bar. We went twice on our trip. Love the live music patio and whiskey selection.

A very great experience, and a personal note for me, in the fact that that that they have a ping pong table was a catch for me!! So amazing to meet so many people, especially locals!! Will definitely be returning!! Keep up the good work Shanty!!
Cool bar in the heart of the historic town of Eureka ..we were told to stop in and check it out by one of our servers. Very cool and busy place . Go check it out 🤙
Excellent service. Great music. And a damn good bloody mary!
Spent my formative years drinking here while the bartenders good-naturedly put up with me. Spend enough time at The Shanty and you'll become family. Back when I was drinking there, it felt like 'every holiday of the year, every day' given all the decorations. The owners are lovely and the bartenders put up with a lot of crazy shit-- anyone who doesn't like this dirty little gem can GTFO. So many unusual and fun nights to remember (or not remember) and I especially miss Bob Graves, former owner of the Vista, pouring drinks on holidays. Long live The Shanty!
My husband and I go up to Eureka together about every other month, because he has to go up for business. We don't have any decent bars where we live, so of course we want to take the opportunity to hopefully find a bar for our trips to Eureka. So last week we spent the night bar hopping. We were trying to find a place with good Vibes and friendly people. We found our place here. The decor is really punk funky with a nice outdoor seating area equipped with heaters. The Bartender is really friendly and service is Attentive. The regulars we have met were also very friendly.
Love The Shanty! I lived in Old Town, Eureka, CA for ten years and The Shanty was a 3-minute walk from my apartment. This place is AMAZING! I enjoyed Friday and Saturday nights here, playing pool, having a few drinks and catching up with folks, and of course taking in the great live acts. I also enjoyed the festive seasons such as Halloween, Christmas, NYE, Christmas in July, etc., where the bar was decorated and filled with a very lively atmosphere. The drinks here are always well-made and priced well, as are the beers. I was a big fan of The Shanty dog....with Sriracha! Service here is always tops and the bartenders are great people. A+++! ❤️❤️❤️
If Plato were to walk into a bar, he would certainly declare Shanty the platonic ideal of a dive bar. It meets all the basic requirements: - Cheap, strong, well-poured drinks - Friendly, quirky, chatty locals - Pool table - Good music - Smoking patio - Just the right amount of dive bar fragrance What puts Shanty in the top tier, however, is the bartenders. They are masters. Eureka is a rough town. The crew manage to make everyone feel welcome, while also making sure everyone is respectful to everyone else. So Shanty is the local gay bar, biker bar, service industry after-work bar, and watering hole for everyone from 21-year-old couples to grizzled retired lumberjacks. Do no mess with these bartenders, or you'll suffer the fates of those who've offered bad reviews here. Honor their trade, and you'll be well attended to. Also, ping pong, arcade games, breakfast (??!), and awesome theme nights. Spend your Humboldt coast night in Eureka and grab a drink at Shanty.
Sometimes you wanna go..... Where everyone shurgs and says OK.....The perfect Dive Bar. America's best even. Brittany, Mike, Ian, Billie Jean, Nick, Kris and Chris....saints all of them. The guy with the bleached locks and glasses could use an attitude adjustment....wouldn't shut up about this podcast he makes called Star Shartz (Listen where you get your podcasts).
It is a relaxed friendly place. Quite comfortable and the people are very nice.
Good place to catch a live band or just have a beer
Best place to drink in eureka. Bloody mary is excellent. They have pool
Saw a great show here. Cool little dive bar. Really liked it.

I love a good dive bar that doesn't feel like I might get stabbed! Lol, great atmosphere, great drinks and prices and you can bring your dog to hang out too!
Surprisingly nice bar considering the name and exterior of the building. They've got a covered fenced patio area in the back with a couple pool tables and a good selection of alcohols.
Very friendly bartender Stacy..good cheap drinks, has indiërs and outdoor seating with small pool table. Fun place to visit and l9cal favorite. No food but you can bring your own.
Gotta love your neighborhood dive bar which is exactly what this place is. You can tell by the outside, you can tell my the old beer smell on the inside and either you love it or you don't belong there. Cheap drinks, dog welcomes, a pool table and ping pong table out back. Also, they make hot buttered rum and hot boozy cider for the holidays!
I love this place. With the name goes the atmosphere, it's a nice little place and I absolutely love the back patio. Our bartender, bearded fellow with shorts on had a great personality and even handled a rowdy patron with class, not embarrassing her anymore than she was doing herself. He got her to chill and relax while waiting for her ride. Thanks guys for making this place still a chill hangout spot.

Best dive bar so far this trip. Back yard area is great for enjoying the outdoors, drinking and smoking.
The bar has a cool look and they play good music and i thought it was pretty cool. They have a pretty nice game room with some fun stuff and a patio thats always pretty filled with people which is cool. Only problem is the bartenders are short with you if youre not a woman and are just straight up assholes sometimes. Last night i tapped my glass on the bar counter probably about 5 times max. Once on accident, second because i thought the knock of the wood sounded interesting but wasn't sure, and the next three to talk to a friend about what the wood might be made of when the bartender grabbed my cup "from the lip where i DRINK from" and slammed my cup on the table. I was pretty drunk but i wasn't belligerent. Was completely unnecessary and could've used words instead of putting his hand practically in my water. Good bar but overall dont go here to chat with the bartender especially if youre not a woman lol.

Alright... The Shanty is the top dive bar in Eureka. Maybe all of Humboldt county! Yes they do have a real pong table outside to do real beer pong. The backyard overall is not too bad. Now from here on out is just bad. The inside of the bar smells like a uninstall. The crowd is an odd bunch. And make sure to bring cash for this place. So if you want an odd experience of Eureka life, go for it. But if you want regular people, I would suggest Steve & Dave's or Del Mar Vista.
Drinks are affordable, food trailer food is good, a couple of the bar tenders are rude had one that wouldn't serve me my drink in the back and thought they did because the other bartenders would. One bartender there named Mike has a attitude he tried to follow me in the restroom there once which I thought was creepy wish I reported it to the general manager. Place is a little run down but drinks are good and affordable. Heard from locals they don't have a food trailer now which is bummer because the food was good. I give them 2 stars.
Drinks were good. Service was on point... until I asked about turned off jukebox. That was fine with me... when she told me that she was playing her own music. What was not okay, was when she told me when I asked her to play a song I knew was on the jukebox that she would not because they looked forward to playing their own music. As a bartender myself, I found this unprofessional. I immediately said that is fine, I will go to another bar. ✌
Don't recommend, bartenders are the worst in town. They 'blow up' on customers whenever the slightest complications arise and will refuse to make drinks because they don't wanna make it. Rest is cool but "They" kill the vibe.

The bar is ok if you can tolerate the smell of piss and vomit but this review is for the loser bartender Mike. This idiot got mad at me for setting my beer bottle on their mangy pool table (I didn't spill any mind you, just set it there for a moment for lack of another surface), so in response he snatched my beer off the table AND DUMPED IT ON THE FLOOR! Yeah snowflake, that'll show people to respect the rules and cleanliness of your moldy little dive bar...
Out of the hundreds of bars ive been to… this is by far the worst. They are karens bro. Someone was talking some shi- so I engaged. Bartender bro calls the police on me. While i was waiting out side a friend of the bar was acting up. Anyway police came and could tell who was cool and took the friend to jail…. Bro…
Worst experience ever!!! By far this skinny man had me come in I couldn't find a place to sit. He came up told me if I want to make issues to never come back. After enjoy the sea grill for dinner I would never recommend coming here the bar tender is rude and doesn't like people coming in solo.. I'm sad they will never get my business
These punks 86ed me for following the rules too much and being too kind. They wouldn't even accept a simple apology. Whatever guess I don't need their nice atmosphere good drinks for cheap and had times had by most
I've had two negative experiences that will prevent me from ever coming back here. The first is understandable but still rude. I enter the bar later into the night by myself. Order a beer, present my ID, and take a few sips. The bartender (older man, not sure of the name) takes the beer out of my hands and tells me my ID expired. So far, not that big of a deal. Bummer for me but I get that they need to be careful otherwise they could lose their liquor license. The real problem is that I needed to ask the bartender for my money back and after walking away I realized he kept the tip. Months later I come in with two friends and we sit down in a booth because the bartenders seem busy. We chat for a few minutes and haven't ordered anything. The next thing I know the same bartender as before is shining a flashlight in my eyes to get my attention so he can ask for my ID. I walk to the bar and present my ID (now renewed) and the bartender is DRIPPING with "go ahead, cause a problem" energy. Funniest thing is, he didnt even take an order when he ID'd me. Scanned it, handed it to me, and walked away. The atmosphere is nice and the drinks are okay, but I'd rather go to any of the other bars in the area and not risk another interaction with that gray haired jerk. Sucks because it's a nice bar otherwise.
Terrible bartender the emo girl that's 25. Kicks everyone out like her dad owns the bar. I'll definitely never go back
Really bad bar tender tonight. She has her bf trying to fight people were.. very unprofessional staff. I wouldn't waste your time here
