We were dining on a quiet Friday afternoon on a labor day weekend. The place is charming allowing outdoor and indoor dining. The food was exquisite, served beautifully. The mussels were delicately, perfectly flavored. The scallops on risotto cakes cooked to perfection, slightly crisp on top, the risotto cakes perfectly seasoned. The combination was unbeatable. Hailey and Angela took excellent care of us in a friendly fashion. The chef is very talented. I highly recommend this restaurant. 👌

The food was absolutely delicious!! We stopped by only our way to NY from NH. We expected an average meal but every dish we ordered was fantastic. Apps- the beet salad, bao bun with short rib, sliders (which always are dry but here it was juicy), octopus (best I’ve had in awhile), burrata (the accompaniments were perfectly balanced), skirt steak was cooked perfectly. Even the manager corrected the AC for us because we were chilly. Vibes ambiance service all lovely.

I just had my baby shower at South Bay Fairfield, and it was an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was a hit with our guests. The room we used was perfect for the occasion, and they were so flexible with letting us decorate how we wanted. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and their friendly, attentive service really stood out. I’d definitely recommend South Bay Fairfield to anyone looking for a great venue with fantastic food and wonderful people. Patty was so friendly and wonderful to work with. I’ve gone to South Bay with friends and family many times and the service is always so welcoming and great. The food was amazing and affordable. I felt the atmosphere was very lively and fun. Never had any complaints from me or the company I bring. Amazing place!

I have gone to Southbay a few time now. I have always been met with great service and amazing food. Atmosphere is next level and all my friends say the same. Whether with friends or family you can expect a great experience, I really recommend checking it out.

I love south bay I’ve been there for lunch with my family and enjoyed the nightlife with my friends. by far a go to when it comes to going out would highly recommend. This is the first place I bring my friends when they come visit awesome experience and memories had here!!

We had a bridal shower here for my fiancé and it was truly a wonderful experience. The staff was so nice, they were incredibly attentive. The food was also phenomenal. They have a perfect set up for a party. It was just such a wonderful experience for everyone involved!

Went with two young kids and sat outside; the sausage on our pizza was very fresh, in fact, all the ingredients were extremely fresh. There were other young children there as well, making this a good spot for families.

I’ve been to South Bay for multiple different occasions and I’ve never had one issue. The food is great, the atmosphere is very lively, and the service was exceptional. I’ve never had any complaints and my friends also have never had any. Great spot

South Bay is a great place for brunch, you’re just a short walk from the beach, so you can easily enjoy the ocean. If you’re into nightlife, Southbay is also close to bars and clubs, making it a great place to hang out all day and into the night. Whether you're there for the food, the beach, or the nightlife, Southbay is definitely worth checking out.

Love this place especially during the summer time because you can sit outside. Delicious food and drinks, nice service and nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Dined here with the family and we were very impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere! The waitstaff was accommodating to all our requests and attentive. Such a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, the drinks were on point, and the service truly made the night. Huge shoutout to Steven, our bartender—he took incredible care of our entire group. He was attentive without being overbearing, super friendly, and somehow managed to keep everything moving smoothly even when it got busy. Our drinks were always full, recommendations were spot on, and he genuinely made us feel taken care of. You can tell he really knows what he’s doing and enjoys it. We’ll absolutely be back—and hoping Steven’s behind the bar again.

I’m surprised this place wasn’t packed on a beautiful Sunday evening—the food was delicious (try the Brussels sprouts salad!), the service was good, the inside/outside tables are comfortable, and the prices are reasonable (considering the quality of the food and service). We go to the Greenwich location from time to time and it’s always hard to get a table, so I was shocked that this Fairfield location isn’t busier. It should be-it’s really a hidden gem!

Really comfortable place with great food at a reasonable price for Fairfield. Had the calamari fried and grilled, mussels and 2 different salads, all were excellent.

Friendly staff with a family yet dignified atmosphere. The food was delicious, hands down. We had the lobster risotto dish, scallops and risotto dish, and the mushroom and truffle fettuccine. All three were easily some of the best food we’ve had in recent memory, but if I was to get nit-picky, like really insignificant stuff, I would say that my mushroom fettuccine had too many mushrooms. There multiple parts of my meal where I’m just eating fork fills of mushrooms to get to the pasta. The mushrooms just became overwhelming without the pasta to diffuse it. The lobster risotto was a bowl of risotto with smaller chunks of lobster mixed into it and a half shelled piece of lobster on top. The larger piece of lobster was cooked well but the smaller chunks were a bit overcooked. Finally the scallop and risotto dish was perfect. That’s it. Perfection. When you eat the scallop dish do not devour it. Take your time savor this cause it deserves that kind of attention.

I went to this place to try their $19 Prix fixe lunch and was quite happy with the service and food quality. I was able to have the fish of the day which was a bronzino and a really nice kale salad with toasted cashews and strawberries. I definitely did enjoy the entire atmosphere it was very relaxed great selections of wine and helpful staff. The desserts are nothing amazing but you definitely have several dessert options close by like milkcraft or donut crazy to fulfill that urge if you really need something sweet at the end of a meal.

Good atmosphere, attentive staff, good food. Had a dinner on a Saturday night, place was pretty packed, so my advise to make a reservation. We were sitted outside with a heater. All pasta dishes were pretty good. Calamari was fresh, their pizza's are also a hit. Overall a good spot for any occasion.

Went there for a small family party. Food was delicious. It was just a small portion size because it was a prefixed menu. Atmosphere is wonderful. Surrounded by wine bottles. Will definitely go in for dinner

We came pretty early around 5pm the service is really good. Parking was a little distant for wheelchair access. The mussels were great eggplant parm was perfect. Best part of the meal was the gnocchi.

We came to South Bay for an impromptu dinner after an event without a reservation. Ultimately, we were disappointed in our experience. Typical seating was quick and prompt. Ordering our drinks and apps was also within reason. The part where our drinks (including water) and app plates were empty for around 45 minutes while the staff was having conversations feet away from us was frustrating. Having one member of the staff talking with a person outside, letting cold air rush in for 10 or so minutes was annoying. In all, we were there was close to 2 hours and ate in a rush. The waitress was kind enough to offer us complimentary champagne when our food finally arrived, but never apologized for the delay. The food was good, just wish we could have enjoyed it more. I do not recommend South Bay if you have any plans after your meal. We may try again in the future, as the staff was friendly and the food was good. However, this singular experience was frustrating and not enjoyable.

Food is excellent that’s not the problem. I made a reservation for 3 ppl and they squeezed us into a table for 2. We asked if they had a larger table and they said they could seat us outside but all the tables inside were reserved. At the time the restaurant was empty so they could have accommodated us but flat out refused. As expected having ordered small plates to share it was very tight and we had to shuffle plates around to make it work. I don’t like when businesses won’t accommodate an unhappy customer, period. They should’ve figured it out.

Ok, here is an honest review, from someone who likes to praise businesses about all that is right, as well as maybe give some things to improve upon. Especially for the very particular Fairfield dining crowd. First, let me say, the back of house is killing it. The food was all cooked beautifully. My wife's tuna was seared perfectly, and just rare on the inside. Nicely done. My branzino, while a tad on the small side, was also cooked to perfection, and served over a bed of clams. The mashed potatoes were a somewhat interesting choice, but tasty. Here's where the roads diverge. When first entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly guy at the bar, named Victor, who frankly, seems to be running things there. He had to ask the hostess to get up from where she was seated to show us to a table. Ok. He then came by in an appropriate time to ask if we wanted a cocktail. We ordered and he bought them back in record time. Well done, Victor! He took our dinner orders and headed to the kitchen. Thank you. However, while we waited for our meals, my wife noticed that the young hostess was sitting on the stairs, in the middle of the restaurant, watching what I guess were Tik Tok videos, or similar. We could hear them from our table. For such an elegant place, this is totally unacceptable. When the food came out, the plates were put down. And the runners were gone. No one asked if we needed anything else; water, pepper, another cocktail, just gone. Ok. As stated before, the meals were good. At no time during our dinners however did one person come by and ask if everything was ok. Both of our cocktail glasses were empty. This is a missed opportunity to ask if we'd like another drink, at the very least, and just basically to see how things are going. When our dinners were finished, we sat with dirty dishes in front of us for quite some time. We had to flag them down, and ask for the check, after it was clear we wouldn't stay for dessert. They brought the check, and had to ask them to clear our dishes. With the check on the table, the hostess asked "would we like some dessert?" What? She then stumbled taking away our dishes and glasses. We then had to ask for someone to come and ring us out so we could leave. Victor, again to the rescue. He left the credit card machine on the table. I left a reluctant 20%, mainly because the food was good. But South Bay, if you truly want to succeed in the highly competitive Fairfield restaurant scene, things need to get better in the FOH. My 2 cents.

Happy hour fried calamari was very good, so we're our glasses of wine. I had salmon which was ok, small portion with a little bit of vegetables which were ok. My husband had the pork chop scarpiello. Chop was very small, Brussels sprouts were under cooked with no taste. Seemed to be just slightly steamed. Total portions were very small for the money.

Food was mediocre and dining room so loud we couldn't hear each other. Steak was poorly cooked (over well on ends and almost raw in center, i.e. heat was too high, cooking 101) and my scallops were so salty I couldn't finish. My 13 year old son can cook a better meal. Service was pleasant but for the high food prices we won't be back. This is clearly a better drinks only location.

When we walked in , the place was lively , alot of people having dinner so I had high expectations. It started off with my reservation for 4 people that was clearly written on the OpenTable and hostess repeated back to me , so I was so confused why they tried to seat 3 of us . Once they squared that situation seemed like we were going to be dealing with another as far as our waiter was concerned bc he barely spoke English. We were patient and kind, ordered a cheese board for the table and a lobster bisque soup as apps. 45 mins later and nothing shows up . We had to find someone who worked there and ask for some assistance , finally 10 minutes later our apps show up, the soup was completely watered down , nothing bisque about it . Looking around it seemed like no one had food at there tables, the restaurant had barely any staff working, definitely not anyone who spoke English and when the entrées finally arrived it was cold like it had been sitting out for awhile. By this point , we were so hungry and had a concert to get to we didn't have time to complain. The manager never showed up , it was said he was the one cooking that evening. Will never come here ever again for dinner. Don't waste your money, terrible service and to boot when we walked out, there was some kind of sewage odor coming from the back of the restaurant 🤮

Good food Good music Good drinks TERRIBLE service- ordered drinks at the bar, seated, waited 45 min after we ordered with no follow up, essentially ignored until the mgr came by to say we had waited a long time!?!? I politely stated the tables Next to us were done with their meals and had drinks refilled and we hadn’t had our appetizers or drinks offered. When I told him the service was less than stellar, he became very upset and told the table that he just had a 20 top and was busy, but could not explain why we were not served. As a result, we were rudely treated and three different servers haphazardly waited on us. We were never asked if we would like another drink and the bartender eventually came to the table to ask if we would like desert. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant since there are many good ones to choose from nearby Save yourself the aggravation!

I had a group from out of state coming in late, website said they were hosting live music here tonight, and the food looked good, so I decided to make a reservation for dinner here hours in advance, Got there with my party, only to be rejected and told they were closed for a private event (wedding). The fact that this place made NO MENTION of being closed, and didn't even bother to call us after the reservation was made to let us know so we could make other plans, it's absolutely despicable. Due to the late time, we couldn't even find a suitable alternative and unfortunately had to go to the local diner for a mediocre meal. Never tried the food here, and won't ever be returning.

One and done. Food was just gross. Service was horrible. The seafood pizza needs flavor. Was the blandest frozen pizza I’ve ever had. The pork taco special wasn’t even palatable. We sent it back and no one even asked why we sent it back. The entire management needs to be replaced and the chef should go to a fast food place. Do yourself a favor and save the money, this place sucks. It may be a great spot but that means nothing when the service sucks and the food sucks.

FACED DISCRIMINATION!!!!! A group of us decided to go to South Bay at the suggestion of one of our party members. We were a group of seven and arrived in separate cars. I went in first with my wife and best friend, and we got there right before 10pm. My wife and I are black and my best friend is Hispanic. We (the men) were wearing baseball caps. The door man says to me as soon as I approach that I’d have to leave my hat in the car. I asked if I could just put it in my pocket. He says that’s fine but if it goes on, no warnings and I’d be asked to leave. No biggie a lot of establishments have dress codes, so I had no issue complying. I take my hat off, walk in, and literally see about fifteen white guys wearing baseball caps. The second half of our group walks in and one of my friends (who is white) walks in and is also wearing a baseball cap. I asked my friend if the door man told him he couldn’t were a hat. He was told that he could wear his hat until a certain time (10:30pm.) So, why was I not allowed to wear my baseball cap like everyone else? We left, (and I'm happy they didn't get our business) but not before respectfully confronting the door man about the discrepancy. His response “I was just doing what I was told” I call b.s. because of the number of white guys already inside as well as my white friend being able to wear their hats without an issue. My hat was a regular Chicago Bulls hat. Nothing obscene, and nothing gang related. It’s 2024 and treatment like that is unacceptable. I want to spread awareness because some people are just asinine. It's really disappointing. Would give zero stars if I could.

Let underage kids into the bar and kick people out for staying in the bathroom for too long. Maybe ensure these kids are using real ids and it will make it better. Security is a joke and don’t actually look at IDs. Maybe stop letting people in after playing rock paper scissors and your restaurant won’t look like a joke.

Honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. It takes a lot for me to send food back and we sent both the grilled calamari (so fishy) and the steak (horrifying color, bad cook, and tasted like hot dog- we both spit out our bites) back. They gave the bill w them on it right after we sent them back, but they ended up removing it after we asked. So so disappointed, do not waste your time or money.

We had about a 40 person wedding rehearsal here and it was a disaster! We were seated on the third level which looked pretty nice. They also had a private bathroom up there. Wine seemed to come out quickly but that's where it all turned south. Every course took an ETERNITY to come out. I went down to the first floor and asked what was going on. I was told repeatedly that the kitchen was very busy with all customers. We had made these reservations months ago. Any reputable restaurant would have put on more staff on for our event. I guess that just makes too much sense. We had to keep asking for water and more staff. They only had ONE waiter on for all of us. Again, waiting FOREVER for the dinner course, I went downstairs for the second time to ask for a manager. The bartender was rude and kept asking me what I wanted. I never met with the manager and the solution they gave me was saying they were bringing more wine! Can you believe that? We were already paying for all the wine! No manager in sight! How can staff be mad at us for the lack of service!? FINALLY when the dinner course came, it was only 3 or 4 plates at a time! This place needs to be run significantly better! Each person at the wedding rehearsal said they would never come back here!
