Just a great summer spot. A Fire Island tradition
Pricy but tasty food, very good drinks and the most beautiful relaxing view in the area. First place we hit when we visit Fire Island to begin unwinding
Great place to watch the sunset and have a good meal. Excellent service.
We went by boat from Captree with a group and had the buffet. It was varied with seafood, salad, ribs and prime ribs that were great.
There’s something futuristic about this place. Maybe it’s the lighting. Or maybe it’s $MORI on my mind.
Awesome place to spend the day on Fire Island.
Always a good spot to pull your boat up to for a nice time I. Fire Island. If you spend $100 at the restaurant, parking is free.
Lauren was extremely helpful in helping me out. 10/10
Another perfect lunch at Flynn’s. You’re on the bay on a beautiful day. Enough said.
Great food .excellent service. Live entertainment just a warm place to go and eat.
Lovely waterfront location, reasonable prices and a fair selection. The staff was very friendly and accommodating
Beautiful waterfront location with good food and Monday special lobsters.
Took the moon chaser out of captree to Flynn's Fire Island, we had a great time and the food was excellent. Buffet style, prime rib and lobster 🦞, shrimp , clams, ribs , salad and more all very good. I recommend 👌
There is no better place in Fire Island! The dock people are the best of anywhere I've gone in 40 yrs. Management is extremely helpful and generous. I've been going there for 8 years and it's the best deal in Fire Island!
Legendary venue on Fire Island.. always a good time. Lots of good bands performing throughout the season and the food is good. Gets crowded but everyone is partying.. the ferry ride is part of the fun..
Luke is always is always so accommodating and the rest of the staff is great (especially security 😂🤘😜), always a good time with awesome live music and delicious food. Thanks for letting me bring my hula hoops! 💫
Great place good food. The company take us every year for a good treat. Seafood is one of the main choices. Great atmosphere they also have live music. Defenetly recommended #brokerGCraig
The owner Mike Flynn went way up and beyond today . On a crazy holiday weekend people lined up all over. He had so much to do. But I had a problem with my ticket and he stoped what he was doing to help me and make it right. What a nice guy. The place is beautiful the location is perfect. Thank you
Traveled to Flynn's by captree boat moon chaser. $16 for boat, 40 min ride 1 way, $50 for dinner, lobster, shrimp, baked clams, spare ribs, prime rib, corn cob, talapia, lemon chicken and salad....all you can eat except lobster. Coffee & desert to
The atmosphere was great relaxed and fun. The service was very good. The food was plentiful at the Buffet especially all you can eat lobster.
My first time here and I love it. The food was great !! The prime rib was too die for every bite was flavor. I will be back very soon.
Amazing place , amazing owner , amazing food , AMAZING PLACE!!!! I highly recommend coming here if your on fire island ! Amazing and helpful people here to! Sundays and Saturday's are also so fun here
Loved it, I was there for happy hour 5 to 8, and the place was packed. But the service was good considering it was so full. The food was good too.
Great summer setting to relax, have a drink, bite to eat and enjoy the sounds of summer. Lunch menu has appetizers and sandwiches for most people's taste, average quality of food and priced high. Tied up in marina, dockmaster helpful and friendly. Great day. Business functioning well in this social distancing setting.
Fourth summer here even with the changes still love this restaurant. Being able to enjoy some delicious seafood on the water in a relaxed atmosphere is priceless. The service is good and you have to try the calamari. You can dine inside for a dressy occasion. or sit outside on the deck on the water. They have a quaint bar. Enjoy the ocean and ferry views in a casual environment. A Fire Island favorite.
We made a reservation for our group of 23 and they were able to seat us at one large table which was great. The staff was exceptional in providing service from start to finish. We all enjoyed food. Seared tuna and lobster were at the top.
Great atmosphere, right on the water, bands playing frequently and if you take your boat docking is basically free cause they give you a $75 voucher to eat there with your dock space.
We come here every summer. We always have a good time. Waitress was excellent. Fast and attentive. Food was good. Can’t wait to come again.
First time back on Fire Island in probably 15 years. This was the first restaurant I went to after getting off the ferry. The burger was awesome and the service was friendly. A tad pricey, but that is to be expected anywhere on F.I. Definitely recommend.
Had a great lunch there. It was a busy Sunday with an outdoor party going on. But the establishment is big and our family of 5 with kids found a comfortable space there. Beautiful bayside dining. Food was delicious. Our waitress informed us on “off the menu” items - I had lobster tacos that were delicious! Kids were happy about kid-friendly menu and the curly fries.
My family and I dock our boat here and they have electric and water to connect to the boat. It is always so much fun and the other boaters are beyond friendly and nice. Luke, the owner of Flynns goes over the top to make sure our stay is always perfect. My air-conditioning broke on my boat last weekend and he let me use his Brand New portable air conditioner for the entire weekend! Talk about a whole new level of accommodating! The food at the restaurant is delicious and the bartenders are super friendly. The location is perfect as well. The sunsets are to die for! Highly recommended!!
There is a food choice of menu or buffet. The food was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and an enjoyable value, and included a nice dessert. The Wait Staff was kind, quick and efficient. And always greeted us with a smile. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. And I can't wait to return. . . . .And the view was breathtaking.
I love Flynns and will definitely be back. The food was delicious. Everything I had was delicious. The ambience was very nice with the lighting and setting on a whole, our waiter Joe was courteous and friendly. I would only recommend soft music in the back ground. I will definitely be going back.
Very friendly staff. The girls behind the bar wrestling. I dare you to do that touristy thing and get that drink that everybody on this flip an island orders. It's pretty good here. Julie was amazing - she makes this place the bomb dot com. Thank you for the A+ service!!! Will be back for sure s
THE PLACE TO PARTY ON FIRE ISLAND ! Top shelf entertainment, the best drink prices and specials, new menu with choices from fresh seafood, fresh burgers, bar food, and appetizers. From the bar, to the dance floor, to the dining room, FLYNN'S friendly staff has it covered. All overlooking the Great South Bay. Forget Ocean Beach, "The Land of No ", this is the place to go. Reggae Sunday Happy Hour , with King Wellington is the biggest party on Long Island, and we're all invited !
Delicious food, friendly staff and amazing views. Their Watermelon 🍉 drink is super good and refreshing.
Excellent service staff and water views. Good food that seemed a little on the pricier side to us. We enjoyed a tasty Rocket Fuel alcoholic beverage and really had a nice relaxing lunch.
Staff were polite and drinks were served promptly. Security was a bit aggressive but overall it was a nice place to drink with my group.
This place has a long history. Been a favorite eatery, bar and night club since the sixties and perhaps earlier. Right on the water. Special cocktails. Relax and enjoy.
Lots of fun. Great spot on the weekends for the younger party crowd. During the week it's great for family dinners on the bay. Great views, friendly helpful staff The owners are always on the premises. This makes for a very well run operation.
I gave this a 4 but what happened really disturbed me. The food was decent. Music was nice. Looked clean. What disappointed me is that twice I got up, once to take a picture and once to get more food. The staff is so quick to clean up. The time I went to take a picture, with pocketbooks still on the table, the staff took my salad away. It was at my seat with my stuff right there. The second time , I went to get lemon juice and they took my lobster. I was only half done. It’s a buffet, Wouldn’t you ask if you can take before taking? I was enjoying the lobster and was only allowed one at the buffet. Only other complaint, is they only give you one clam at a time. Thumbs down
This is a fun summer destination. The staff members are friendly but often appear overwhelmed and fatigued.
Have been going to Flynn’s for over 30 years. Just a magnificent setting, and the food is very good. Tuesday evening bar entertainer was terrific. Just leaving this review because unhappy with experience during “Happy Hour” in bar yesterday. We were two couples who arrived alittle after the 5 pm start. Asked hostess if could do happy hour in restaurant as wanted dinner as well. She said only the bar area which was fine with us. She escorted us to our table and placed the 1/2 price happy hour menu and regular dinner menus on table. Ordered some half price apps and drinks which we believed to be half priced. After dinner when check arrived we saw we had been charged full price for all the specialty drinks we ordered. Only my husbands wine half price. Called the waiter over and asked if mistake. He said “only certain mixed drinks half price.” When he walked away I saw in fine print “select drinks” half price on Happy Hour menu. When he came to pick up our credit card I asked him which mixed drinks half price and he pointed to several above the area we ordered from. I mentioned to him I know I had gotten some of those same drinks last year from same section we ordered from and they were half priced during bar Happy Hour. He then told me they “changed” things this year. Nice to know after the fact, maybe hostess should have explained to us? Waiter?prior to our ordering. Would suggest Flynn’s do a better job marking Happy Hour menu. Feel very deceived. Their sign/advertisement says “Half price drinks” for Happy Hour, nothing about “select drinks.” Either waiter didn’t care to correct error or Flynn’s taking advantage of customers. So patron beware.
I came here via the Captree ferry for the Father’s Day brunch seafood buffet. Each ticket came with one lobster and endless meat options and sides. No alcoholic beverage were included in the package, but were available upon request. There were a lot of people on the ferry, leading to inconsistent service when sitting at the restaurant. There was live music, and bathrooms were filled with variety of lotions, hair, care, products, and dental necessities. you had the option once done with your meal to walk around on Ocean Beach until the ferry departed back to cap tree. Parking at cap tree was easy, and an eight dollar charge. food was hot, lines were long, but if you are attentive to other people, it will go quickly.
Great place to party, always packed and always has a great DJ. The dance floor is much smaller than it looks in photos but its fine for a group that can section off a small area. The drinks are pricy and they only accept cash in some instances, we did the table service for labor day and it was well worth it came out to just over 200$ each and we had our fill by the end of it. Only negative is that they had a ticket fee to get in even though we got a table. Also there happened to be a proposal while we were there and it was great.
Ferry ride took an hour...food buffet at Flynn's was good but don't go for the lobster...barely lb. 1/4 with little meat.
It was nice and waitress pleasant but they need training on people having heat strokes and not thinking they are drunk.
Slow service. I know it is not a McDonald's but still. After 15 min. waiting just get the menu I had a feeling like maybe we are invisible.
Mediocre beer selection. Sometimes they take credit cards at the bar and sometimes they don't. They crank the dance music inside while the great King Wellington is playing outside and you can barely hear them. Been going here for years but I think it's become too popular.
Somebody told me that Fire Island is where gay guys go. I sure wish that were true here. It's nice being on the water, and it could be a lovely place-- if it weren't for all the squawking, preening heteros. There's a reason you need to take a ferry to get here, you'd think that'd be enough. I say hey Bruno, shut it down--why don't you leave your chauvinist aggro bullcrap on the mainland, this is supposed to be a getaway--from you.
Although I enjoyed the atmosphere and most of the staff, one male bartender in particular was quite rude and condescending. Not only was his attitude awful, but after asking for tap water at the bar I was told that he was not able to do that. He told me that there were water stations for that purpose and I responded that I had gone to those first and they were all either empty or there were no cups. He continued to argue with me for several minutes stating that he did not care to take 2 seconds to fill a cup with water from the same spout he was filling other cups with of soda. Seems he doesn’t fill drink requests for water because they don’t make him money. It took me over an hour to obtain water, which I finally received at the same bar from a female bartender. Wish I could give this place more stars as I otherwise enjoyed my time there, but I can’t due to the disrespect from one of their staff members. You’re better off going into the restaurant and spending money on food just to get a glass of water.
Food Baked clams 4/10 Cococnut Shrimp 3/10 was not even cocnut it was just fried shrimp both the shrimp and fries were super greasy. Was going to do the buffet but simply did not look appetizing at all Service was good and great location etc.
Update 8/2022: my review was based just on one event. Not that I was not recommending it. This place has been around for years and I always support local business. However, I just wanted to explain our experience, we didn't know what to expect that night The dinner cruise buffet was extremely crowded. We barely could move in between our tables. The server wasn't cleaning off the dirty dishes I had to bring it to them. I would not recommend it on a specific day like Father's Day maybe try it on a random night. Definitely too packed and the buffet line was long. Food was decent. The workers were friendly
The place is fun and exciting, the waiting staff could a bit more professional and graceful. One of the guys handing out food made a mistake saying the wrong order and he didn’t even apologize, he just showed an attitude and raised his voice saying it… like really excuse you ? When we left a big tip for the waiter , he just said have a “ good day” and no thank you ? Like he takes his tips and job for granted and isn’t a bit grateful…. The staff at the restaurant should be trained with better mannerism and more alertness to make sure their tables need anything else and if everything came out fine for them … the restaurant wasn’t even packed for them to be rushing…Mabye if the staff was more polite more people would sit down to eat there instead of going other places to munch…
My food took 1 hour and 45 minutes to come. I ordered a surf and turf…only got the turf..it was awful! So chewy, I couldn’t even eat it. Everyone had finished eating before they even mentioned me getting the lobster portion of my dish. Our waitress was lovely but the food was not great. Disappointed for my first Flynn’s experience.
What happened to Flynn’s! We called in advance to see if they still had lobster on their menu and were told that they did. When we got there the service was horrible, and there was no lobster on the menu. We were served incorrect drinks and to top it off only one choice for dessert. The food we did get was substandard. We won’t be going back for a while.
Fun destination for your boat! Not cheap to dock, but they do give you a food credit of $50. Food is nothing to write home about.
We try to go here every year. This was our last. Service was pitiful, slow and clearly our waitress and bus boy had much better things to do than their jobs. Very sad. Food, very disappointing.
It's just OK, we got on the Ferry at Captree State Park and it wasn't an elegant place but just ehh. The food was buffet style, nothing about the place would say yeah let's go back there
Meh. Then boat trip from and to Captree was really nice. The staff at Flynn's was very good but the food left much to be desired. The lobster was good but the roast was seriously undercooked, even having asked the carver for ends. The rest of the food was not great.
We had the worst experience at Flynn’s today. We’ve been here in the past and their service used to be good, but this visit was completely disappointing. The older gentleman who seated us was extremely rude and very unwelcoming. We ordered our first round of drinks and appetizers, and the service was painfully slow. They eventually brought the drinks and appetizers but didn’t bring us any plates for nearly 15 minutes — and that too only after we asked multiple times. On top of that, their staff clearly needs training. One of our friends asked for a Jack Daniels, and the server said they don’t carry it — which was completely untrue. We saw the bottle sitting right there at the bar. At that point, we decided to leave. We didn’t continue our meal at Flynn’s and instead went elsewhere for the rest of our drinks and dinner. Very disappointing, especially given our past experiences here.
2 stars because the service was good, views are nice (on the water), decent drinks, and a fun atmosphere. But the food is sooo bad! And for expensive prices it's not acceptable. A $25 small flatbread tasted like a child made it at a pizza class. The lobster roll had no butter or sauce, the bread roll was rock hard, and the lobster was cheap/flavorless. I know Fire Island can get away with lower quality food, but this food was too bad and for prices higher than good restaurants in Manhattan it's not worth it. Get drinks here, but bring your own food to the beach or try somewhere else. Oh and large fee for paying by card and cash only at the bar. As if we are not in the 21st century
If I could give them a -0, I would! Advertising to serve only people that are vaccinated? Most blatant form of discrimination! You disgust me and many many others who will never patronize your place again. I hope you go out of business from the lack of customers!
Horrible. The bartenders were incoherent, rude and didn’t even know how to make a classic cocktail. Drinks were disgusting. Never again. Trash bar.
Each bartender had a different price. One was charging 15 for a jack and coke double and one was charging 24 for the same drink
Horrible!!They sat me and my fiancé down right away and completely forgot about us. It took a half hour just to get bread and I had to grab plates , napkins, and silverware from the table next to me. The waiter finally came to take our order and apologized. Forty five minutes later still no drinks or dinner so we walked right out. The whole time all the other tables were getting their food around us and the waiters and waitresses were passing us right by. We went there by boat and paid the expensive docking fee with a fifty dollar food credit that we never got to use. Shame on them.👎
First time on Fire Island and heard Flynn’s was a great spot to check out. Drinks ok, only cash and the bartender definitely has a case of conscious bias towards anyone with melanin. He literally took our drinks away when one person in our party of 4 went to the ATM 10 feet away to get cash as if we would steal them. Sad definitely won’t return.
Security should be informed when a group is setting up a table for a bachelorette so they don’t run up and scream in our faces. Got an apology after the fact but it should not have happened to begin with. Server was friendly and helpful.
The lobster on the $27 lobster roll is so dry you can barely swallow it. Replacement food (with a side of attitude from the waiter) not much better. The location is nice, but clearly you don’t come for the food
I was harassed by a female employee here. She was about 5’7-5’8, had glasses, skinner, and darker hair. I went to retrieve my bike from the bike rack in town and she tried to take the my bike from me. After several times of explaining peacefully that this bike was mine (I had just removed the bike lock from my bike) and she was mistaken, her and her boyfriend got confrontational with my friend and I to the point where things almost got physical. She tried to steal our bikes claiming that she worked for Flynn’s and this is allowed because she worked at Flynn’s. After I told her to stop she attempted to assault me and threatened me followed with several racial slurs. I don’t know what kind of establishment would hire and allow such conduct. As long as this employee works here no one should eat here.
From a regular OBP goer.....Go to Schooners for polite bartenders, better drinks and a rocking time. Weekdays don't mean much to the Flynns establishment. Arrogant service (he must have been forced to work the weekday because hes a "weekend bartender", ignored happy hour prices, and a funeral home feeling at the bar. Bailed, hit Schooners, and danced all night with the live music, played bingo, and met a ton of vacationers that figured out Flynns is NOT the spot. And don't even think of eating there.
Came out to Flynn’s no one came to our table for about 15 minutes…we actually had to get up and ask the wait staff if they could wait on us….the waitress had an extremely over powering fragrance. When she brought our drinks the was an ant 🐜 crawling on my partner’s glass. The food is mediocre at best. We had to ask for water, all the tables around us had water. I have eaten in restaurants all over Long Island in the Hamptons, New York City and many other places in my travels around the world. The only thing they have going for them is waterside. I hope management reads this and steps up their game!
I wish I could give it zero star - everything was horrible at this restaurant. Food was gross. Chicken fingers was four slices of thin meat on a bed of frites. Short ribs tasted microwaved, was semi-cold and coated with a sauce that doesn't go with whatever sauce it was marinated in. Service: we seven people only got five sets of silverware (?!) and after asking for more still nobody gave the missing plates. Ambience: loud music, low-quality speakers, annoying bass, loud customers, etc. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST!!
Let me tell you a story about the worst experience my three friends and I have ever had in a restaurant. From start to finish, Flynn’s was nothing but a disappointment. It began with my cocktail, which was made incorrectly… twice. (I never did drink it but was still charged for it.) That cocktail was the only thing I ever managed to get at Flynn’s as the waiter returned to our table after I placed my order to tell me they were out of the first meal I selected, and then did the same thing 10 minutes later after I had tried to order something else. Two of my friends ordered a salad to share, specifically asking for the feta on the side because one of them is pregnant and can’t eat soft cheeses. However, when the salad arrived, the cheese was prominently sprinkled across the top, with no concern for their request or her unborn baby. Here’s where it goes from bad to unacceptable… Another friend ordered a pasta dish, which didn’t arrive with the rest of the food. When she still hadn’t been served 10 minutes later, she got up to find our waiter (who hadn’t checked in on our table… his only one) to inquire about it. He looked at her with a confused expression and asked, “they didn’t bring it out?” When she confirmed that they had not, he went back to the kitchen to check. He eventually returned to the table to apologize and my friend was incredibly understanding about the situation. But after another 20 minutes, she asked for a second time about her meal and he told her it wouldn’t be coming at all. It was never made clear how the error happened, but the kitchen had closed and she would not be getting any food. We stared at him, incredulous, as he tried to claim that he had explained that before. (Spoiler alert: he hadn’t.) The waiter never spoke another word to us after that point. He silently dropped off the check, which had comped some of the food our two friends had received, but still included a charge for my untouched and incorrect drink and the drink ordered by my friend who never got her meal. The silence continued when he picked up our credit card, when he returned with the receipt and when we walked out of the restaurant. No further apology or explanation for the subpar service. Despite the scarce food options in Ocean Bay Park, I would highly recommend that diners who wish their orders to be correct (or to eat at all) avoid Flynn’s at all costs.
I came here for a group dinner and it was truly one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered a bottle of champagne which took 1 full hour to be delivered to the table. The other $15 cocktails that were ordered were absolutely horrible and no one drank theirs. The food on our set menu with 5 items took 2 hours to be served and was borderline inedible. The waitress was incapable of taking our order correctly (again there were 5 options) and had to take the entire thing twice and then still got it wrong. We were stuck there for over 3 hours because of how long everything took to come out and we ended up skipping dessert because we were desperate to get out of there. The view was fantastic but I would still never ever come back here for food.
. food is outrageously priced for simple basic small portion. Security doesn’t do their job well. Watched a woman in your VIP sections turn purple and die for like 30 minutes with nobody being attentive to them or offering to help get help. Waste of money to pay for parking and take a ferry to come to this trap. No wonder you spend so much money on advertising you need it. It’s all underaged kids drinking in a small space. Definitely let’s in more people than legally allowed. Only good thing is the bartenders but you also are awful at advertising that this is a cash bar only. Whole place is a waste of time and money. a complete rip off and I didn’t have fun
By far one of the worst places I’ve ever dined at. Not only is the food over priced but the drinks are gonna cost you an arm and a leg. Service is mediocre and the food they overcharge you for is just decent at best. Words can’t describe how bad the security and management are there. Not accommodating or friendly at all. This was the worst part for me because some of the staff enforcing the mask policy aren’t even wearing masks themselves!! Overall just a typical island spot trying to overcharge you for terrible food and service. Wouldn’t recommend at all. Your better off bringing your own drinks and food to the island. You’ll have a much better time. Don’t bring friends or family here.
I would give zero stars if I could. I was there this weekend for a bachelorette party and did the dinner package with the group. First off the service was horrible, we were there for over 3 hrs due to complete incompetence and our waitress being unable to get our order right. We had to tell her multiple times about who ordered a soup and salad before it was right. Secondly, the food options for dinner were horrible. Only had a choice of a wrap, chicken sandwich or avocado toast for dinner. The quality of the food was horrible. I got the chicken sandwich and got essentially a frozen chicken patty that you used to get at the cafeteria for lunch when you were in school. The cocktails were filled with sugar and cheap alcohol. But after all of that we were left with a HEFTY bill for horrible quality food, drinks, and service. The only good thing they had going was the view otherwise this restaurant was horrible and I do not recommend going.
