Recommended by Diners Drive-ins and Dives, this place did not disappoint. We got there about a half hour before closing and the service and food were both awesome. The family had everything from Salad, pizza, spaghetti and of course stake hoagies. The meat was tender and a great combination of marinara and cheese sauce. Great place. Highly recommended. This place is cash only.

Let me start with the service. I wish I had asked her name because she was absolutely lovely. Such warmth and friendliness throughout start to finish. I let my friend order for me, as he knows my taste. I had not been here before. My sandwich was so delicious! The meat was beyond tasty. It was so huge, I have breakfast for tomorrow. Whenever I am in the area, I have to make a stop here. I will go out of my way to eat here. I have had quite a few things from the menu, and everything has been consistently great . I highly recommend this place. Staff is awesome and friendly . Cash only, so be mindful of that. If you don't have cash, there is a convenience store in the same plaza that charges fees for getting cash, and it is worth it to me to eat here. The food is excellent.

Everyone seemed happy to be having lunch at this place so the atmosphere was good and it had good vibes to it. I ordered the steak hoagie and it was delicious and the meat 🥩 had this superb fresh beet taste to it and it had had the right amount of apices & salt to it. The pickled red peppers 🌶️ were delicious too. My only big mistake was that I picked the cheddar cheese to be put on top of it. I was hoping to see a couple of good tasting cheddar cheese slices on top of it. Instead it was that canned melted yellow cheese you buy at your local grocery store. I felt like I was putting cheap 87 octane gasoline on a Ferrari or Bugatti 😁 That is just my point of view, if the tradition is to use that canned yellow cheese then so be it but definitely I will never ever again order cheddar cheese on my steak hoagie 😁😄😄. Great place, even Guy Fieri has visited the place. I would definitely recommend and come back to this place but no cheddar cheese 🧀 for my steak hoagie please 😂

Quint laid back cash only place, serving up delicious cheesesteaks and hoagies. We got 2 cheesesteaks with onions. 1 had Cheddar cheese and the other provolone. We also ordered 4 Italians to go. The staff is super friendly and everyone has a great attitude. Thank you for a great lunch. We will definitely be stopping back again.

Ordered for the 1st time the other day through Uber eats after the seeing the high star rating and the high google reviews rating, very affordable, they give you a lot of meat & I loved the subs. This will be my new go to place . My only Critique is adding more seasoning to the meat and instead of using canned mushrooms, use fresh . But it still was delicious . Update: I ordered 2 more subs today 2/25/25 through Uber eats, this time I asked for extra seasoning on the meat, without mushrooms this time. They did not disappoint! Glad I found me a new place ❤️

I decided to venture out beyond my local area and out try out some new places on my list. Ive been eyeing this place for a while because I love a good steak and cheese. It also didn’t hurt that it was on diners, drive-ins and dives at least twice and I needed to investigate it myself. It’s a nice family run, takeout or dine in establishment that has been around for 65 years. It’s currently run by brother and sister team, Valerie and John with their kids pitching in. He’s able to keep the prices low because they really want focus on the customers but at the same time bring some excellent fresh choices. Their breads are homemade that they bake in the back as well as the tomato sauce. The steak for the sandwiches is made from rib eye that they slice up fresh for the day. I mean these folks are originally from the Philly area (Germantown) so they know what they’re doing. The place is modern and clean, and as soon as you come, in you can see the team at work making you your sandwich. I have to say Valerie was such a doll to talk to and was super friendly that I could’ve been there forever. I thought the steak and cheese hoagies were excellent and I had mine with provolone and green peppers. The peppers were super soft the way I like it and they included grilled onions. The bread was fresh made of course and the steak was super juicy and tender. They also have an option to put their family tomato sauce on it too. This sauce is also used on pizzas that they make that I have yet to try. After 4 pm is when they make their 12” pizza (13.75 for cheese) and their pasta. It’s definitely a place that I will be returning to because not only are the sandwiches wonderful, but the people who serve it to you are great as well! FYI - CASH only!

I came in here for lunch recently and it was a delightful experience. Had the steak hogie with add-on mushrooms & American cheese (red sauce on the side). Highly recommend it. Also the prices are great! Be prepared it is CASH ONLY! The employees were so nice. My sandwich was 🔥

Sonny's is an old school restaurant that makes some of the best steak hogies I've ever eaten! They've been around for decades and have been featured on Diners ,Drive-Ins, and Dives. They only take cash so bring your money when you go!

We saw Sonny's on Triple D and decided we had to try it. Very friendly service and the sandwiches were filling! It is a very small place for those with a large group... Next time we are going to try the sauce :). We will be back.

This place is pretty great. I've been to Philly before and had three Philly Cheese steaks from three different restaurants (John's Roast Pork, Woodrow's Sandwich Shop, and Tony Luke's). This place would rank 3 out of the 4 listed if you include this sandwich shop. However, that's saying a lot because all the Philly Cheese steak restaurants in Philadelphia were fantastic and this restaurant in Florida holds up to the rest of them. The #90 sandwich on the menu is very close to an authentic Philly Cheese steak with strips of steak, onions, and has the option of including cheese wiz. I highly recommend getting that item for an authentic Philly Cheese steak experience.

I love the cheasesteak here. Hands down they are the best around. The meat is tender and freshly sliced. The toppings are delicious and there are plenty to choose from. You have several options of how they prepare your steak hogie so it will be just the way you want. Make sure to try a cheasesteak with the cherry peppers. They offer chicken, turkey, and burgers as well. It is a cash only business so just make sure to remember that when you stop by.

Been a customer for 54 years and counting and this place just gets better every time I go, Now that I don't live in Hollywood anymore, I always go out of my way when I visit South Florida to stop by for a steak hoagie on fresh baked bread, and an old school iceberg lettuce and tomato salad with olive oil and vinegar dressing. Love this place. So grateful you guys are still in business.

We all have our number mines #50 with cheese peppers and mushrooms. That homemade sauce makes it special. Love supporting small businesses and they are clean. Been here several times never a disappointment just need cash.

This place is legit. Our server was friendly, the restaurant clean with a small town feel. We had the 90 with peppers and provolone, and a meatball with sauce and mozzarella. Amazing hole in the wall Cheesesteak place. Been around for over 60 years and still standing. That should be all you need to know. They make their own bread, make a homemade sauce that goes on their steak subs and their prices won’t break the bank. Last time I was here was over 5 years ago and the quality and service is still top notch. Cash only, but the best stuff usually is!

Our #115 TripleD stop and it didn't disappoint!! The #90 Steak Hogie was fantastic and the Meatball version didn't lack anything either! Caught the man, the myth, the legend himself in action! Great place!!!!

I drive from Leesburg Florida to Sonny's to buy there hoagies. Granted it is a 4 hour drive there and home but it's worth the trip! Awesome steak hoagies and everyone is friendly.

This was literally the best cheesesteak I've ever had. The owner was the kindest soul and made us feel like family we've know forever when it was our first time there. We stopped here on the way home from key west and will definitely make a day trip from Melbourne just to go back.

I’ve been going to Sonny’s since I was a little girl, since 1966. John ( son) took over when his dad passed. The tradition carried on. The best part is you don’t have to go to Philly to get the best steak hoagies, you can get it right here in Hollywood! Think about this, you turn the corner and roll your window down, you can smell the steak cooking. Imagine the hoagies are made daily at 4 am. Over the years I’ve ventured out a bit and have ordered more than the steak or as its referred to as a # 90. My favorites is # 90, steak, mozzarella and heavy sautéed onions with homemade marinara on the side. I get a plain hoagie roll so ever so soft inside and just the right crisp outside and served with real grade A butter. My brother Sig and I have been going a lot this year. Sig has ventured out and gotten the hot ham and cheese, huge Gorgonzola salad, chef salad, and the best hamburger hoagie, very messy but oh so good. After 4 pm you can order a hoagie with melted butter and garlic, it’s just that good. Sonny’s is just that good that they were featured on Guy Fierre’s, diners, drive in’s and dives, 3 times. And recently was a special guest of Guy’s at the wine and food festival in South Beach. Sonny’s is authentic as it gets!

I heard about Sonny’s from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I drove about 40 mins to have lunch there . It didn’t disappoint . Probably the best cheesesteak I have had since moving to Florida . Fresh rolls, perfectly cooked steak with White American cheese mixed in, fried onions they didn’t overwhelm the taste , and, a side of marinara which I have Never had with a cheesesteak. However it was a nice touch instead of ketchup. Delicious .

There is not better place in Florida to get a steak hoagie! This is my number one lunch spot and I get a 93 extra onion and a diet coke with a lemon and bag of chips don't forget the cherry peppers

My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for an authentic and good cheesesteak, and we came across this location. We drove an hour to just come and try these, and they did not disappoint! We made the mistake of not doing more research to find out that this place takes cash only, which was totally our fault. We tried to get more cash from the ATM nextdoor, since we didn’t have enough, but it sadly didn’t work. To our surprise, one of the workers behind the counter came out and asked if we figured it out and offered the meal for free as a treat for it being our first time. This place not only has the best cheesesteaks we have ever had in our lives, but also the best service we could have ever received. We made sure to tip with the cash we had on us already, but the service was top tier. we felt so bad, but they reassured us it was okay and told us to enjoy. We will be coming back again for sure and next time, we are bringing cash and a big tip!!! Thank you so much for the amazing food and service it was AMAZING!!!!!!

I'm a super picky eater and I was here with other people who all got the cheesesteaks and they all enjoyed them very much. I ordered my usual sandwich and it was excellent. They also have awesome shredded/ crushed ice. I ordered the French dressing on a salad and to me it was more of a thousand island dressing which is not my thing. The only thing that was a slight issue is they are cash only. I don't carry cash so that complicated matters a little bit. Overall it was a great experience and I am happy to have gone there.

My best bud and i were on a weekend trip visiting family and such down from Sarasota, and since he grew up nearby, he mentioned this steak shop thats been in business forever, Since I'm from Philly originally i was game! We were immediately greeted by the owner and his family as we walked in to take our order, mind you they just opened on a Sunday, it brought a big smile to my face seeing a whole family running the business. I ordered a #50 i believe and what i saw was a huge hogie for $10! I asked for a toasted roll, which they normally don't do, but the owner said not a problem! A huge plus in my book! When i arrived home hours later i reheated my sandwich in my toaster oven and it was absolutely delicious! I can see why this place has been in business since the 50s. When I'm back in town i will be sure to return and dine in this time. Oh and they make their rolls in house.

Before we went to the airport we stopped here to grab some food. This place has amazing hoagies. I didn't expect how good they were from the outside of the place. Inside was clean. They give you a good amount of food on each one also.

Fresh, hot and tasty. I know it’s a steak place, but try the chicken sandwich. It was hot and perfectly juicy. I ordered about 20 minutes before closing and the food was just as good as it would’ve been in the middle of the day. You won’t regret this meal (your waistline might). 100% recommended.

Old school cheese steak joint. It's not fancy but the bread and steak was fresh and delicious. The sandwiches are not huge but they are very tasty.

A very tasty cheese steak! My only two gripes are that it's a little on the small side, and it doesn't come with fries.

Pizza available after 4pm kids said it was some of the best they ever had.

I haven't been in almost 15 years and I was pleasantly surprised at the great food and really friendly staff. We had a chicken parm hoagie and a steak with onions hoagie both with extra cheese.

The best cheesesteak in S. Fla.! Period, hands down. I grew up on the Jersey shore, one hour from Philly. I've had plenty to compare it to. It's the bread/roll. No doubt. 🤙

Their history is long, "Born 1958" and they bake their own yummy hogie rolls. Steak hoagies are your traditional cheeseteak, if you order them right... ;-) Pizza is very good. The sauce is delicious and the cheese is the real thing! As seen on TV #guyfrieri

As stated in the description this place is cash only. This place is a Broward county legacy. Their hoagie bread is soft and delicious. Had the steak hoagie with no sauce and onions and also had the cheeseburger hoagie. Both were really good. Happen to stop by during their 60th anniversary event in May 2018. They had free cake, tea, and coffee.

I've been coming here since I was in utero (in my mother's stomach). This spot has the best Philly cheesesteaks in all of SoFla for sure!!! You definitely don't go there for frills and ambiance. You go there for the food, which will NOT disappoint you! There's a reason Guy Fieri chose them for Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Top tier food! Make sure to bring cash though, as they're old-school and don't take credit cards.

I ordered via doordash. My steak hoagie was nice and hot and full of mushrooms...couldn't taste the onions, but it was still good. I would order another one. I also ordered the Italian but it won't what I expected. It was alright. The bread was hard.

I ate here a LONG time ago and loved my cheesesteak. I have driven 40 minutes one way for pick up to get one to bring home. The past two times I have visited, not so much a fan. I recently ordered a cheesesteak with peppers, onion and mushroom. There was no taste to the meat, no seasoning, very bland. My wife enjoyed her chicken parm, my son liked his turkey and cheese sub and our friend, from out of town, loved her burger. I was the only one that was disappointed and I am the one who recommend we visit here while in Hollywood. If, big IF, we visit again, I may have to ask our server if they can season my steak before putting it on the roll. I think things have changed a lot since Guy Fieri visited in 2009 and not for the better. I can say that the service was EXCELLENT and the place was very clean. Added a photo of what the cheesesteak looked like when Guy visited, which is nothing like what I was served. The YouTube video shows salt, pepper and some squirts of butter. I think they may have changed the butter for water now?? Maybe, that is where the bland taste come from for me.

Service great. Philly steak sandwich was loaded. Bun was good. I think it just needed to be more seasoned. I have had much better though.

What happened to this place? Used to love it and it was great. Food was not good. Steak was fatty and filled with gristle. Sad...

Sonny's famous hogie is a good 9 inches of thin sliced steak but does not hold the famous value that DD&D placed upon it. We tried the meatball and chicken parm as well and got mixed feelings on satisfaction. As we travel around the United States we rate this Hollywood Steak Hoagie Average.

If you're from Philly you should be using a good roll that can handle your sandwich! It wasn't that great, I am from Philly & these cheese steaks suck compared to a real Philly! I've eaten philly cheese steak at Philadelphia , chicago, NJ, NY, Minessota and in other 37 states and this is not it, the meat was fine , not great , the green peppers and onions tasted boiled...the cheese sauce is not it ...a good philly has plenty of al dente onions , green peppers & red peppers ..I'm not going to tell the people where to eat a good authentic philly because obviously many of the reviewers dont have much taste , let's put it this way, there s a chain from close to PA that makes a better philly than what I just had....it wasn't the worse I had but it was a disappointment, I lived in 7 states ,known well another 35, I'm a wine & Food enthusiast connoisseur and if Sonny is " famous for the PCS they need to change the name or make them correctly!!..Also , Sonny needs to have starters and a little more extensive menu...the starters they " have " they didn't have them until 3pm..the only cash " thing " is pathetic nowadays , 2025 ? Cash only ? .....I had to go to publix to get cash !! Funny thing is they tell you " go to the barber shop ,they have an ATM....sure, so they can charge me what ? $5$6$7 ? Never again!

Service for take out was PITIFUL they wanted to make excuses how the person who took my order wasn't there instead of fixing it so the order was what I wanted. A bit expensive but it wasn't bad. $9 salad had Iceberg lettuce and 3 tomato wedges WOW extreme. Chicken Sandwich was tasty. But not better than Popeyes Classic Chicken Sandwich.

This is not what I expected based off the reviews! I ordered a steak and cheese. The steak was not seasoned, the cheese sauce was bland and straight out a can, the tomato sauce was not noticed because it was also flavorless, the mushrooms definitely came straight out of a can and never even touched the pan to be sautéed. I asked to add pepperonis to the sub and was told I cannot. I’ll recommend pizza from 711 before I recommend a steak and cheese from here.

Three adults in my party and two ordered subs i ordered the zitti with meatball, salad showed up and it looked like the lettuce froze and thawed out again, they only have two dressings and the bottom of the bowl was full of water , not good, garlic bread is good , zitti is just pasta and some sauce its just ok. Will never order it again, stick to the steak subs i think its the best thing they have , service is slow my friends subs came out 15 minutes after my pasta. Way better places to eat

I've been in Hollywood for over 30 years and have never been in this place until 2026. Definitely not worth the money. If you order a fountain drink and the machine is facing the sitting area you can't even get your own drink, the staff needs to get it for you. Again the machine is not facing inside where the register is or where the food is being made which is very weird. For the amount that we paid we could've went somewhere else and got fries and drinks included. From what some of the customers were telling us this business was cash based only until recently they recently started taking debit and credit and because of that they're charging an additional 4% and the machine is asking if you're tipping? Nah we're good.

What in the world is this? Unsalted and Unseasoned CHEAP meat, a soggy wet hoagie, and no extra cheese even though I paid for it. Calling this a Philly cheesesteak is a joke and disrespect to Philly. Never again.

I ask for a burger no to burn.. That's what I get , at take out. Loose the money Lois the food. Do not go there. Dine in service is good. But check your food before leave or eat there. This restaurant is going down the hill. I suggest think twice... I am definitive do not comeback to throw my money away. Food is to expensive, and getting not affordable to received this cuality.
