I come here 3 times now: ✅ramen very delicious I highly recommend ✅curry very yummy(I forgot pic) ❌calamari…meh hard pass for me. It taste more like a unseasoned tempura ❌takoyaki I think could be better it was soso (Also forgot pic) From my experience it does take a long while for food to arrive, but it’s worth the wait since the food is good. Overall, entrees delicious and appetizers..meh. Would come again/recommend the place👍
The experience here was Great!! It was our first time there. I went with my family, 2 adults and 2 children. The food was the best I've ever had. It was fresh and flavorful. The sushi, fresh. Simple and tasty. I had the Kao Soi Ramen, the curry in the ramen was so delicious. The best ramen I've had. My wife had the Katsu Don with chicken. Also really good. I ordered a regular sushi roll but man it was delicious. I would highly recommend to anyone!!
We had a great experience at Sumo Asian Kitchen. We ordered sushi and everything was fresh and flavorful, but the Tuna Lover roll was the standout — absolutely delicious. The presentation was beautiful. The vibe of the restaurant and the service both really set the tone for a great night. Friendly, attentive staff and a relaxing atmosphere made the whole meal even better. Highly recommend!
My husband and I discovered this lovely restaurant over the summer. We have gone back multiple times and have never been disappointed. We have dined in, ordered through door dash and ordered take out directly from the restaurant and have enjoyed each experience. The dishes are each a wonderful balance of flavors. Our favorite so far is the Salmon coconut curry. Every dish we have had has been delicious. The servers are pleasant and welcoming. Beer has taken care of us more than once and remembers us and welcomes us back. The restaurant is clean. The decor is both beautiful and fun. There is a gorgeous cherry blossom tree decorating the sushi bar, anime posters are on the wall, and anime figurines throughout the restaurant. They all help mirror the asian fusion themed menu. Despite being relatively new, this is definitely one of our favorite spots and we look forward to each meal we have.
Beautiful and nice enviroment. Server were firendly and nice. And food were greate as well. It is recommend to visit this restaurant 👏
UPDATE: on my second visit they were blasting hip hop and it was very annoying and disturbing. Hope they go back to the other soundtracks. Fantastic experience! We ordered pork donburi, the special Ramen dish and a sushi, sashimi, rolls boat and everything was delicious, generous portions and good pricing. Love, love, love the decor and the music. Beautiful Japanese motifs, murals, posters and neon lights along with a great selection of music from the 80s, 90s and Japanese pop. Great times!
Update 12/12/24: went back again last night and tried more food! It was delish and the service was amazing! We got the spring rolls (that we started eating before taking the photo), spicy edamame, the drunken udon noodles woth beef, and the special hamachi roll. We also got the Thai Tea crepe cake for dessert and it was Fantastic!I'm sure I'll be seeing you again really soon! Went yesterday evening and greatly enjoyed the experience. The staff was very kind and quick. The food was delish! I LOVE sushi and grew up eating all variations of fish. I ordered the boat for 2 and the fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful. I also ordered a beef pad thai to go for my husband and her enjoyed it very much. I will certainly be going back. I'm glad we have a new GOOD sushi place in Davie. My hope is that the quality stays the same long after being here (which is unfortunately what happens to a lot of local places over time). See you all again really soon!
Just excellent! We were welcomed by the amazing staff and a nice, clean atmosphere. We ordered the sushi and were surprised by the nice presentation and the quality of the rolls. They were so good! Will definitely be coming again. The menu has so many great options and the hours are great (open until 10)! 5 star experience!
The new SUMO Asian Kitchen in Davie, 2875 S. University Drive, next to the Falcon Pub. You would be correct if you think the menu looks a lot like KUBO in Coral Springs and Wilton Manors. For all practical purposes, the food is precisely the same (95 percent?) with a few minor changes to the ramen section (they have Kao Soi and Green Curry ramen added) and a few different appetizers (Japanese french fries are addictive) and entrees (the volcano shrimp is fabulous). The main difference? No alcohol. They aren't allowed to serve it for reasons that elude me. So they've got a mocktail and boba tea menu instead. They've recruited one of the sushi chefs from TAKO in Sunny Isles Beach; the fish prep is beautiful and high-quality, which is to be expected of this Thai-Filipino family that runs quality Asian restaurants and if I lived in Davie, I would hit this place all the time. We had an excellent salmon with pear appetizer and a madai nigiri sampling that was sent out. I’d absolutely order the rolls here; they are the same excellent rolls I get at KUBO. But they will also do chef tastings and big boats and all that as well. It’s a smaller, quieter, more family-friendly Kubo. Whats not to like?
Sumo Asian Kitchen – A Hidden Gem in Davie! I can’t recommend Sumo Asian Kitchen enough! This incredible hidden gem in Davie has quickly become my favorite spot for fresh sushi and authentic Thai cuisine. From the moment we walked in, the cozy ambiance and warm, friendly staff made us feel right at home. We started our meal with the spring rolls and Thai dumplings. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and freshly made, while the Thai dumplings were absolutely divine—flavorful and generously stuffed with meat. Each bite felt like a little taste of heaven! For our entrées, we indulged in the Sumo Roll and the Coconut Curry Salmon. The Sumo Roll was beautifully presented, with each piece bursting with fresh, bold flavors. The Coconut Curry Salmon was perfectly cooked, tender, and drenched in a creamy curry sauce that had just the right balance of spice and sweetness. Even though Sumo doesn’t serve alcohol, their mocktails are a game-changer. Not only are they expertly crafted and refreshing, but they’re also gorgeous and totally Instagram-worthy! To round off our meal, we treated ourselves to the Thai Donuts. They were the perfect ending—fluffy yet crispy, served with an indulgent trio of chocolate syrup, condensed milk, and whipped cream. What truly sets Sumo Asian Kitchen apart, though, is their impeccable service and authentic ambiance. Every detail, from the décor to the menu, feels thoughtfully curated. It’s a dining experience that goes beyond just great food. If you’re in the Davie area, Sumo Asian Kitchen is a must-visit. Trust me, you’ll fall in love just like we did!
Short wait, various options, great serving size, and yummy. The honeymoon roll had so many kinds of textures that it was fun to eat, plus it was set up so cutely. The kimchi that was given as side of the bulgogi was sooooo good I want more! The Japanese fries were crispy with great sauce/seasoning combo.
Amazing food! They have a huge menu selection, everything I had was delicious and I’m excited to try more. I also love their fun drinks, the pink dragon is my favorite.
Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. My boyfriend and I got mocktails (highly recommend Jasmine in The Garden!) We had kimchi fried rice and sisig bao bun. If you've been looking for a solid/authentic Asian fusion spot, this is it! I'll definitely be back.

Service was a bit slow but the food tasted amazing. I tried their soupless bulgogi ramen and it's the first time in many years that I've actually been able to eat ramen w/o throwing up. Amazing food
Good food. Great service. A cozy restaurant with good atmosphere. Many kind of selection from Japanese, Thai, and Korean food. Definitely coming back again.

This place is new. And I am in love with their lunch boxes and the variety offered. The food is top-notch and the service is excellent.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing! Friendly staff, excellent customer service, and a menu packed with fresh, high-quality options. Great flavors at a great price. Highly recommend!
I’ve tried many items on the menu and every one has been phenomenal. Excellent fish quality and one of the best katsu I’ve ever had.
Our server Yok was very nice and helpful! We were a big party and he handled everything with professionalism and kindness!
If you’re not making this your main spot for exceptional cuisine and satisfying tea, then you’re dumb. The food? Fresh. The drinks? Fresh. The vibes? Green flags all the way. Shoutout to the dude working the counter, got hands blessed by up above. Go do something right in your life and eat at Sumo.
Delicious fresh beautiful presentation. I love coming here. The staff are amazing. The food is outstanding and consistently good.
Sushi was fresh and veggie rolls are hands down the best veggie rolls I've ever had. They have mocktails that are on point, definitely a hidden gem!
The place is really nice, the decoration is wonderful, every detail well taken care of! Food was really good! And the prices were amazing! I’ll be back!
Best sushi around, hands down!!!!! Everything is so fresh and delicious, from the appetizers to sushi rolls. The service is great as well, very friendly.
Best Thai food in town. The sushi is fresh and just so delicious. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic. THIS PLACE WILL NOT DISSAPOINT 🤗👏👏
Great vibes, amazing food, and wonderful service. Thanks to our server, Air for answering all our questions and being overall delightful! Make sure to try the Boba and sushi
The food is fresh and delicious. The decor is simple and elegant. The staff is pleasant and the service is excellent. Thank you for a great experience!
I had the pleasure of dining at Sumo Asian Kitchen in Davie and everything exceeded expectations. The Super Saiyan Roll and Miami Heat Roll were both packed with flavor and beautifully presented—fresh, creative, and delicious. The Kimchi Fried Rice was incredibly satisfying and flavorful. I also tried the Bangkok Sunrise mocktail, which was refreshingly vibrant and complemented the meal perfectly. The quality of the food, presentation, attentive service, and welcoming atmosphere made this a great experience. I’ll definitely be back!
The food here was super good! This place is definitely a hidden gem and it’s so new. It’s only been open for 1.5 months! I had the orange dragon roll, takoyaki and black milk tea. The milk tea was not too sweet which I really liked, the dragon roll was nice and flavorful with a nice crunch from the shrimp. The server was so nice! He also gave us a volcano roll appetizer on the house! The portions are very filling. Definitely would come here again! Hope this restaurant thrives because they deserve it ❤️
Such a beautiful restaurant and the food is JUST as good as the atmosphere! the presentation of their sushi and mocktails is what really makes this place stand out. Definitely coming back to try more of their phenomenal dishes. its great to support our local businesses!
My husband and I stopped by here yesterday and had such a nice experience! I ordered the yakisoba and my husband got the tonkatsu ramen. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. I got the brown sugar boba tea which was delicious! Also, our server was pleasant and attentive. I can definitely see ourselves visiting again.
Sumo Asian Kitchen is our new regular sushi spot - everything we've tried is amazing and super fresh! They're happy to adjust rolls, ramen, noodles, etc. to satisfy our kids' tastes. We recently ordered the "cruise ship" for 10 people to go, and they let us take the boat home (with the promise to return tomorrow of course)!
My boyfriend and I got takeout from Sumo. The orange dragon roll & sumo roll were great. The crab Rangoons were still hot and crispy when we got home, and the curry was amazing.
Dined in about two month ago and had a great experience. The food was delicious.
Aimaree was our server today. From the moment we came in she greeted us with a smile. Always very friendly and making sure we understood the menu and had all that we needed. The place is nice, pretty inside, the food was very good afresh and tasty. Definitely recommend.
Amazing food. We had a delicious meal with my family and our son loved it, too. The service is very nice and mindful. All and all highly recommended.
The food was absolutely delicious! I had sushi sashimi and salmon teriyaki tonkatsu ramen it was cooked to perfection. The service was also excellent - our server was attentive and friendly and recommended sushi wonderful artwork. Be honest. I'm also a sushi chef. Everything is fresh and chef put his heart into every detail
New Challenger has entered the arena......Not since my last visit to Bites Asian Bistro in Plantation FL have I tasted such delicacy and attention to detail in this New offering of Asian cuisine. Tempura made to perfection.....no greasy taste and so crisp. This is an anime loves stop. With popular anime images as it's decor and subtle lighting.....the focus is on atmosphere and the food. The staff is friendly and eager to please. Let's get back to the food. When eating from many places people will see or even notice changes in taste from delivery to dining, but here the taste stays consistent. Hats off to the sushi chef and the unseen staff in the kitchen.....this is an opening done right. Stop by as it is not heavy on the pockets and large on take
We were wanting to eat at Sumo por a couple of months. We heard wonderful comments about it. Finally we visited and what a wonderful refreshing treat. Sumo had us at the presentation of the plate. We had the single ride combo: Sushi, rolls ans sashimi it was more than enough for 2. The cold teas are fantastic with fruits or popping boba. It was an absolute great experience.
You guys! I went to try this out because I saw an ad on facebook and I’m a sucker for Japanese food. There lunch special bento boxes are a steal! So many options and great value for everything that you get. The sushi is really next level and innovative with amazing fresh quality. I usually never eat salmon due to the fishiness but my friend asked me to try hers and it was soooo good! No fishiness at all and the sauce they used really accentuates the flavor of the fish. 100% would recommend and I am definitely coming back to try all the other menu items!
Food was super fresh and exceptionally prepared. Some of the best I've had! A definite winner!
SPEECHLESS Mmmmm I am not exaggerating, this is my new favorite restaurant in Florida. Every part of the experience was flawless, From the ambient & interior design, beautiful music (we enjoyed the music so much and could also converse comfortably) To the AMAZING service of the extremely sweet Aimeree, to the MIND BLOWING food, everything we ordered was absolute perfection, they pay attention to details in a way that I absolutely admired. The presentation, the flavors, the special non-alcoholic cocktails, we had three, I just wanted to discover more of this fantastic place, The prices!! So reasonable I was surprised. In Miami you’d pay at least double for that level of food and drinks. I’ll definitely make it there again from Hallandale. I am assuming that they’re a new business and if they keep that standard it is only a matter of time till you won’t be able to get a sit there.
I just tried this place yesterday after getting my nails done per my tech’s recommendation and I’m so happy I did. This might be my new favorite sushi spot! I got the salmon lover roll, a miso soup, and a matcha milk tea with boba and it was all so amazing. This place is cute, clean, and delicious highly highly recommend!!
ordered several rolls. each was perfect. cute place inside. brand new, so kinda quiet for a Sat. evening. prices very reasonable for 9.5/10 sushi. 🍣 will ABSOLUTELY be back!
The closest you'll get to authentic Japanese cuisine in all of South Florida
Another great Asian restaurant! And I believe they are associated with Kubu" In Coral Springs, and Fort Lauderdale, the restaurant is run by a family well versed" in exceptional service, a spotless kitchen and keeping their employees happy. Only the finest ingredients and you will not be dissapointed". So many menu options ! I cant wait to go back!
I literally came here 3 nights in a row with my friend visiting for vacation. The atmosphere and vibe is so great- the music was a little off theme but the third night we came it fit better. The spicy edamame SO GOOOODD, and the sushi boat yes pls!!’ They even modified it a little for us. They ended up recognizing us the third night so that was sweet but also like shows I had no self control hahaha. DEF RECOMMEND so cozy!!!
Sumo is the place to go for sushi cravings!! It just opened up on university dr in davie and I’m already obsessed. For the quality food you get, the prices are really reasonable. They have so many delicious things to choose from on the menu, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming! My server Nok was awesome and made my experience great!!
Such a cool place! I came here with my dad & stepmom and I ordered the miso soup & crispy rice appetizer — miso soup was great & crispy rice was extremely fresh. The crispy rice was fried to perfection and the tuna was fresh. The kung pao chicken was also delicious, it has the perfect spice level (medium) and it was full of flavor. Only downside I would say is that they do not serve any alcohol, which i feel is impactful for businesses here. Other than that, 10/10 would recommend!
Wonderful new neighborhood spot! Definitely a must try if you like sushi and Thai. Cute and inviting atmosphere with great food! Will be going back soon
A wonderful surprise! Stumbled upon this restaurant and was genuinely impressed. The food was excellent—especially the sushi, which was fresh and full of flavor. I’m definitely coming back to try more dishes! The decor is fun and inviting, the music added to the great vibe, and the service was truly fantastic. Highly recommend!
Amazing food and great staff! Everything is truly made with love and you can taste the freshness in the ingredients they use! Must visit!
WOW! best sushi ever🌟 decided to order some sushi to take to the beach with my friend. Once we got to the beach we couldn’t wait to try it the sushi. Let me tell you IT WAS THE BEST! And im not big fan of sushi but this was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 100% satisfied. Coming here for dinner with my boyfriend!
I went with my son on a weekday an hour before closing time. We had never heard about this place and it is only 5 minutes away from our home. We both love sushi and because it was almost empty we didn’t have a lot of expectations and oh boy were we wrong… Not only the service was incredible but it was the best sushi I’ve had in Florida hands down. The fish was soooo fresh it melted in our mouths and the rolls were so different from what we had experienced before. Amazing combination of flavors, everything that we ate was a party in our mouths. We always have some pieces left because we tend to over order but not even a fish row was left. Impeccable, 10 out of 10, we will be Bach very soon!!
Sushi is amazing here!!! We had the nova roll which was exceptional! Also the king of the sea and the orange dragon all sushi’s were fresh and packed with flavor, the server was super nice and attentive and we got our food quick. We will definitely come back to try more sushi’s and other things we saw in the menu. One of my favorite sushi’s
Great new Asian place in the neighborhood! It was absolutely needed! The menu is very nice and versatile and the Mocktail selection is truly world-class! The owners really mastered the quality and the presentation and the waitstaff is fast and polite. The freshly made Sushi rolls are really exquisite. One of the best we ever had. We will be regular customers here!
We enjoyed our entrées and the staff. We were very friendly. I will be back.
Wonderful atmosphere. Servers are very firendly and kind. Beer (Mr. Beer) is very friendly and helped with recommendation for drinks, PINK DRAGON and BANGKOK SUNRISE, which were awesome drink Appetizer, food and sushi werr delicious

My wife and I went here on a Sunday. We loved it so much, we came back the following Wednesday for my birthday. The food and service are amazing—very clean place. They even gave us free donuts the second time we came in!! Must go ...
This place is a hidden gem. We’ve started coming here regularly because we love it so much. The sushi appetizer and yaki and udon stir fry plates are always delicious. My current favorite is the coconut panang curry. Plus, the outdoor seating is great in the evening.
I love this place so much, I usually go by myself and everything they do comes out great, I plan to try the whole menu they have a wide menu and they do not cut corners and I appreciate that. I have had the tonkatsu ramen, both the pork and chicken Katsu with curry and the shoyu sauce( my favorite), shrimp tempura roll( I have had few other rolls and hand rolls but I don’t remember there names all good I promise),the Thai dumplings are very good , brown sugar boba tea. This is all I can remember off the top of my head but I have had more here. Point it this place is very good
Outstanding Asian fusion. I usually have a strict rule about ordering ramen from restaurants that don’t specialize in it—it often falls short. Sumo completely changed my mind. The khao soi ramen was exceptional, with flavors that beautifully blended Thai and Japanese influences. The tuna crispy rice was equally impressive. What truly stood out was the consistency across the menu: despite being a fusion restaurant with a wide variety of offerings, every dish felt thoughtfully executed and high quality, as if it came from a restaurant dedicated to that single cuisine and doing it exceptionally well. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes. Sumo was a very pleasant surprise and easily surpasses much of the high-quality Asian cuisine I’ve tried in South Florida.

We visited this restaurant in February for a dinner outing with five friends and one child. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too crowded during dinnertime, which made for a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The food presentation was beautiful—each dish looked thoughtfully arranged. The sashimi platter, in particular, was absolutely delicious and had a high-end feel to it. The sushi rolls were also tasty and creative, although the two we ordered tasted quite similar. Our friend’s child really enjoyed the sushi and Pad Thai, probably because both leaned toward the sweeter side. The ramen was also quite satisfying. The only downside was a rather awkward moment: when the sushi was served, one of our friends went to grab some soy sauce, thinking it was self-serve. A staff member snapped at them quite sternly, which took us by surprise. It would’ve been helpful if the service had been a bit more friendly or at least clearer about where to get condiments. Overall, we had a nice time and enjoyed the food, especially the sashimi. A little more warmth from the staff would’ve made the experience even better.
The food was so fresh and so flavorful. The super saiyan roll was 🔥, great Thai tea. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick. Definitely coming back.

Very fresh and good food. The only issue that repeats at lunch time, very slow service, only one waiter. Not a good practice.
Japanese plates offered well prepared. No nonsense ingredients, freshly made and tasty. Nice service with a smile. How is that possible in Davie, Fla? Prices still affordable, hurry.
Very cute local spot. Their fried kimchi rice was yummy and generous. Also love the Thai donuts. 10 donuts for $8. Can’t beat that deal. Will definitely come back.
Food was very good , no complaints there . Got the calamari tempura , bellugi ramen , and thai Donuts. They definitely need to hire at least one more waiter on weekends though , they were very busy and had one lady clean all the tables while taking orders while doing other things and service moved quite slow . Can’t blame her she was working her butt off. I will definitely be back as the food was top notch.
The food is very good. Unfortunately they serve differently for takeout than in-house dining. I hate leaving bad reviews but I felt that this was necessary. Our Japanese Fries came without scallions and without masago which is like half of the add ons. It’s unfortunate when restaurants don’t treat take out customers to the same quality as regular customers.
The restaurant is right in the middle. Not great and not bad. No alcohol so we settled for sprite. The brought out 1/2 our meal with no utensils. Service was poor. Not sure if we’re coming back.
After finding this place made it my new spot, was ordering 2-3 times a week, 100+ each time. Sadly last few visits have fallen short, found a fruit fly in my Crab Rangoon sauce, Shrimp Shumai was really fishy with a not so good after taste(last few visits). Sushi has been decent but the Spicy tuna in some of the rolls have been on the darker side obvious using the not so good tuna which didn't taste pleasant. Everything was amazing for the first few months then they weren't. Sadly back to Cilantro Sushi Thai, hopefully the next time i come by again it will be better. Til Next time... <3
I’ve been here before because the food is genuinely good, but unfortunately, the service is consistently poor and seems to be getting worse. We visited around 8:30 PM on a busy night. It was clear they were understaffed—there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. It was obvious they needed another person on the floor. We tried to be understanding, but just like last time, we were completely ignored. When we tried to let the server know we were ready to order, she gave us attitude that made us feel very unwelcome. The worst part came at the end. They automatically added an 18% gratuity to our bill—and there were only two of us. I’m certain the menu states that this charge only applies to parties of six or more. Charging that amount for such rude and inattentive service feels dishonest. The kitchen is doing a great job, but the front-of-house is letting the whole place down. Fix the staffing and the attitude, because right now, it’s not worth the visit.
I entered location to pick up pre order waiting with no greet or "how may I help you" but ignored to see the cook greet other people entering and give me no acknowledgement. VERY RUDE & distasteful
We ordered takeout from Sumo Asian Kitchen and were really disappointed. The takoyaki was mid at best, and the drunken udon was completely bland (I ordered it spicy, but it was far from it). The only strong flavor came from the basil leaves, which were overpowering, and the chicken was both bland and tough. My boyfriend ordered the fried rice, which was also lacking any flavor. We honestly struggled to finish the food. We love and often eat Asian cuisine, so we were excited to try something new while in the area, but unfortunately, we were fooled by the good reviews. This place really needs to step up the quality and flavor of their dishes.
