First time trying German food but I was not ready for it to be so good! The bread and butter seemed to be made straight from the kitchen and I have literally never tried bread like this! I can’t believe even the bread was super good. We ordered the Jäger Schnitzel and the Hungarian Goulash which both were just really beautifully tasty. The Schnitzel especially with the mushroom cream sauce was just straight from heaven. Their pasta and red cabbage really complement the food well. Really captures the sweet and savory flavors and blends them in a mouthwatering way. Our server was a very friendly and humorous guy and made our experience even better!
It's a little slice of Germany! Overall, my wife and I loved it. Great schnitzel, potato pancakes are VERY good. The apple strusel and the German chocolate cake is delightful. The ambiance is very eclectic with everything German and has a pub-style feel. The live German music was very good as well.
This was my very first time here since I come from a very cultured German immigrant family, we traditionally cook our own food. Since my Omi passed, there's some things I can't do and it's def mothers day lunch. So we tried Edelweiss, and I was not sad by this at all. The combo plate had a lot of variety and was my favorite because there was a little bit of everything. The sauerkraut was not a fan of mine, not enough garlic for my taste but it was yummy still, nothing but a region difference. The sauerbraten also was not that juicy or flavor rich. Now the schnitzel, brat, cabbage, and spatzle were great, like don't change none of those ever. The black forest cake had the perfect amount of cherries. 🤤 and the fresh bread and butter was perfect as well. The service was very personable. The staff made me feel at home. The atmosphere was the typical dark German restaurant/pub and made me feel at home as well! Thanks edelweiss for an amazing lunch and my family and I will be back very soon!
Okay an edit to my review. Yes it was kinda annoying that they asked me for my ID when I ordered my Oktoberfest but I understand that's the rules even though I'm 6'1, 200lbs, and have a full beard with fights scars criss crossing my face and repeatedly broken nose. The Hostess was a real gem, surprisingly professional and efficient. Either way VISIT EDELWEISS ON A SATURDAY but be sure to make an appointment. Sweet Mother of Mercy this place is a gem. If you're on a date it's a great place. If you're looking for an affordable meal it's a great place to eat If you're looking for a cold beer a d a warm welcome after a long day's work there's no better place If you come to Fort Worth and DONT visit EdelWeiss I don't know you and I won't want too.
I had a fantastic time here! The Schnitzle was awesome and I could have drank the mushroom gravy out of a thermos. The servers were very friendly, the host was a sweet little girl, a lady was playing piano during my meal. I got a very big family joint vibe here and I dug every minute of it
I loved the ambiance but wish they had a larger menu option. Hard to find beer for a hefty price, but well worth it. Our food was delicious and made to order. Hot fresh baked bread with butter churned in house. Family friendly with a small dance floor. Live piano music and the man playing had no problem playing songs for the kids to shake a leg out on the dance floor too. The Staff was fantastic and I loved walking on the old hardwood floors. Bathroom was very clean. All in all, had a wonderful time here.
This place was amazing. We go to Oktoberfest every year in Tulsa, Ok and the German society's festival and this place has amazing Schnitzel and Strudel. The beet selection are all great German beers. The pretzels are awesome do not miss out on these. The prices are the same as Oktoberfest's but the everything was do good I dont even care. The red cabbage was at another level, my mother in law has an old family recipe from Germany and I thought hers was the best, but this placed proved that wrong. We will definitely be back! The fork is for scale.
This place is a gem! I've heard about it so much, and passed by it many times. I lived in Germany for 4 years when I was young, and fell in love with the cuisine. We ate there tonight, a Sunday, and it was almost like being back in Germany! The whole vibe is cozy and warm and inviting... Yet the place is huge!! They do live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and there's a dance floor if you want to have fun. They have a decent selection of beers on draft, ranging from kolsch to amber to dark. I was so excited to be told that they had Bitburger on draft, and immediately ordered it. If you like light beer with a little bit of bitter (but not IPA bitter), Bitburger is great, and complements the savory aspect of the food. We got bread and salad, both delicious. The bread was warm and a perfect soft bouncy texture. It was served with something that was butter I think, but mixed with maybe garlic or horseradish, so it was a nice flavorful addition to the bread. It's hard to mess up salad, and they did good with the balsamic dressing and weren't stingy with the croutons. The lettuce was fresh and springy. Potato pancakes were the must have appetizer, and they DO come with applesauce! And sour cream. But I'm all about the applesauce. It was a staple festival food for me when I accompanied my parents to various German events that I was too young to drink at, so I indulged in food instead. It might seem a strange combination, but it really really works. And their potato pancakes were huge! Such a good portion, I took some home as leftovers. We all had the jager schnitzel. Hands down my favorite German dish. The schnitzel was perfect, thin and breaded and lightly browned. The sauce was happiness, just pure savory smooth happiness. The spatzle looked a little different than I'm used to, but it was still good. It could've been maybe a little firmer, but it made for a delicious complement to each bite of schnitzel. Normally, we don't go for dessert, but the homemade apple strudel looked too promising to pass up. It was amazing! Just the right amount of sweetness, and the pastry was fluffy and just slightly chewy but melted in with the filling. So delicious. The service was also great; Neal knew about beers and helped with recommendations. He was around and attended to us at the right times without visiting too much. There was a slight mix up with the appetizer coming late, but we were in no rush and were enjoying the live piano being played. A super wonderful experience overall; I cannot wait to come back!
Absolutely amazing, can be a bit pricey but definitely worth it. The staff is super welcoming and helpful, the atmosphere is very relaxing and lots of history and things to see. Sunday nights they have a piano player and there is a dance floor, the beer is just as those you can get from Germany, and the food is outstanding and again tastes just as if you were in the Country of Germany. This place took my husband and I back in time. Highly recommend.
We went when they first opened for the night, so there wasn't a wait. You can make reservations. The food was good. I especially liked the herb butter. The pretzel was nice and hot. The cream sauce for the lobster ravioli was not too red pepper-y, which I'm fine with. Definitely left full. There was a live band and dancing (if you desire).
Was a great night out with hubby. When we got there the stereo was playing traditional German music. Then live piano music with request sheets you can give to waiter. Was nice. Hot fresh super big prezels were almost a meal in itself. Outstanding with or without dip. Food, well the cordon blue was perfect. Potato salad seasoned perfect awesome purple cabbage was out of this world. The Jaeger Schnitzel cooked tender the meat was done perfect. The jaeger I should have asked for on side. Was ok but, was more like mushroom with brown gravy. There was no onions, bell peppers or other ingredients but, was ok. The home made noodles were mouthwatering fantastic. Purple cabbage was awesome. Forrest cake was fresh and moist not overly sweet. Hand made Apple strudel was fantastically mouthwatering good. German cake will blow your mind. Please try this resteraunt we've been going to this resteraunt for over 20yrs. Family is always welcomed the more the better. The atmosphere here is inviting and comfortable enough to stay well past the meal. They have dance floor, bar, fireplace & more.
This is a real German place. Being American, I could barely pronounce any of the words but my peers could. The musicians are lovely. Very humorous. Their favorite dance is the Chicken Dance, so your family as be active during the meals. You aren't ever really bored. They beer portions are unbelievable. We asked and they just said: "Your in a German Restaurant". They do have a sense of humor. The food was really really amazing. It is definitely worth it. Desserts are huge and filling. We would love to return to this convenient place again.
Quaint Bavarian style decorated restaurant with a good selection of German beer and a few German wines. Sadly the place is dark and dimly lit. It could also use a good cleaning and some new paint. The food was good, but was only limited to a small selection of German cusine items and steaks. Spatzle was great, but the schnitzel was slightly tough to chew. It wasn't tenderized by pounding it to a thin piece of meat that is typical to schnitzel. It had good flavor, just hard to chew. Slightly over-priced for the medicore quality of food. I believe the Edelweiss Restaurant has such great potential and a desire to succeed.
It's the Denny's of German food. Nothing was great. Very little to complain about. We rolled up for an early dinner at 4:30 PM with the little one in tow. Initial impressions from the empty derelict parking lot / abandoned "shopping center" were immediate red flags. Walking in the door there was a certain stank that usually indicates I've found a good dive bar so I was somewhat hopeful. Staff was super friendly and attentive so 5/5 marks there. We ordered two pretzels, potato pancakes to start. Nothing special but also not bad. Two of three beers ordered were on draft, only one was out. Those on tap were cold and fresh. Prost. Salad and bread were unremarkable. I ordered the sampler platter and wife had the chicken schnitzel. The only standout bad item in the platter was the potato salad. In no way did it resemble any form of German potato salad I've had at home, seen in a recipe, or had at other German restaurants. There was an overpowering presence of mustard. Shrug. Kraut was the sweet brown style, not my favorite but pretty decent for the style. Spaetzle was a little over cooked but otherwise passable. Sausage was good, jagerschnitzel sauce again good. Portions were middling. Apple strudel "tasted like a McDonalds apple pie" (not a complement) and the black forest cake was stale. The entire experience left me feeling like this was a super cool place to eat, 20 years ago but is resting on their history and ambience instead of execution. Atmosphere was a little flat even when the place started to fill at 5-6PM. If you just wanna satisfy a hankering for German good and some good cold beer this place will get this job done but you don't have to look hard to find better executed German food. I'm probably being a little harsh but have high standards for German when it comes so highly recommended.
A fun experience overall, but painfully slow; we waited well-over an hour for our food. The food was tasty with a bold spice pallet. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, with generous portions, so no complaints on quality, once we actually got it. We might have walked out if it weren’t for the charming piano player who kept the kids entertained and dancing; that guy deserves a raise and is a real crowd pleaser.
