Opinions de Ellerbe Fine Foods Fort Worth
Unbelievable flavor combinations! Truly a one of a kind experience. Everything has always been cooked to perfection. Surprising and unique pairings. The menu is always changing with the seasons and it never fails to surprise! Perfect place to go and enjoy yourself. Dinner on average takes us 2 1/2 to 3 hours here start to finish. I'm sure you could rush through your courses if you wanted but why would you?! Enjoy yourself, the food, wine and service. We have always had Jose as our server and his attention to detail and warm hospitality is second to none. I cannot recommend this place enough for a truly unique experience.
In my opinion, the Brunch menu for Mother's Day was a little small. But what I got from the Brunch menu was some of the best taking things I've had. The servers are very professional and easy to talk to. I've been here before, and every time I've been, it's always been very good.
The premier "farm to table" fine dining destination in Texas. Perfect for an elegant lunch, special occasion, or anytime, really. Thoughtful southern/Cajun inspired menu that changes seasonally and always satisfies. Staff and service is always warm and professional. Soups are outstanding, especially the gumbo. Mains are portioned generously and seasonally appropriate. Don't skip dessert! Get the bread pudding. The wine selection compliments the food perfectly, is eclectic but accessable, and very reasonably priced. They also sell hard to find and small production wines at retail prices to go. Looking for a special bottle? Just ask and they can probably make it happen. I can't recommend this place enough.
Where to start...five stars for the service, food, wine and ambiance. Such a great experience. We loved our server, Joe. He was very knowledgeable and had the best attitude, he was quite possibly the best server we have ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our favorite thing was the octopus salad. Overall we couldn’t recommend this place enough.
I have eaten here twice and both times have been exceptional. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, and Scott in particular is a fantastic waiter. You can't go wrong here, from heart of palm salad with crab to fried oysters to Peking duck confit . But I particularly loved the bread pudding with bacon brittle swirl ice cream on top. It was so good I almost started to cry. You really should try this place!
Such a wonderful experience for me and my husband on our anniversary. The dessert wine, rabbit entree, bread pudding and espresso dark chocolate cake were absolute standouts during our meal! We spent $160 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine and 2 desserts and we were delightfully full at the end. There is valet parking only onsite
Just a great dining experience. Lively bistro on West Magnolia. Quail, Redfish, high quality Steak, unique appetizers (pulverized cauliflower soup was rich and delicious) all excellent. I liked the relatively limited menu because what they serve their focus for the day. 6-8 appetizers, 8-10 mains, extensive wine list. Very fine dining for Fort Worth. Let the valet do your parking for you. Parking Lots abound but it's not clear when or where you'd get towed.
OK, how many times did I walk past this gem and not realize what I was missing out on?! The best dining experience in Fort Worth can be found here! From the food to the service and knowledgeable staff - no other restaurant in the FW area tops our experience here today. Scot made our dining experience very enjoyable and exceeded our expectations. He was super attentive and had invaluable wine/entree suggestions. The beefsteak tomato and buffalo + mushroom ragu were very tasty. Don't forget to save room for dessert - the bread pudding here is a must! We will be back and will certainly ask for Scot again!
A very great and memorable dining experience. Our table shared four different entrees (red fish, duck, ravolloi). What I appreciated most was how the sauces did not overpower but complemented and enhanced each main entree. Yet we liked the sauce so much we made sure that the dishes were clean. The taste made you slow down to savor the blend. We were treated like guest by our waiter, Scott. The venue further reflected the food, it allowed for a nice view of the street yet tuck away to enjoy our dinner. Very unique inviting repurposed building.
Fantastic meal, great experienced server named Scot, and would recommend Ellerbe for any special night or a night you want to transcend mediocrity. It's a farm to table restaurant meaning the menu changes along with the season, so be sure to check the menu beforehand. We started off with calamari and melted pimento cheese toast appetizers. The calamari was not fried, it was cooked but served chilled with a delicate tangy sauce and a small bed of kale. I loved it but my lady prefers the more common fried versions of the dish. The pimento cheese toast was gooey deliciousness, also served on some with some kale and a light but slightly different sauce. For the main dishes the lady had the halibut and I had the lamb chops. The halibut was very good, clean, healthy and served with some peas. They did the best possible to make something boring pretty tasty. However, my lamb stole the show. It was the best lamb I have ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection, with a delicious seared crust that created an amazing flavor. It was served on a bed of fennel which I don't ordinarily like. However, even the fennel was scrumptious. We couldn't agree on a dessert and really weren't that impressed with the offerings. I'm more of a chocolate cake guy and the lady only likes tiramisu, neither of which were options on the night. Will go back when we are ready to treat our selves again.
Excellent farm to table dining experience. The barbeque shrimp were excellent and I really enjoyed my pork chop, too. The portions are an excellent size for a lighter meal. The attention to detail and the mix of flavors makes this a great dining experience
We went to celebrate our son's birthday, and it was a wonderful dining experience. What made it so delightful, in addition to the delicious food, was our waiter Scott. He provided excellent service, great advice on menu selections, and we enjoyed his repartee. We will definitely be returning to the restaurant another time.
This is the best farm to table restaurant in the Dallas Ft Worth area! The chef is brilliant, the GM is so friendly and Natasha our server was brilliant! There are no words for just how wonderful the food is! Every single bite
Very homely, yet romantic venue with farm to table food. They only serve beer and wine, but they have an extensive wine list. The food was delightful in every aspect. We started with the duck confit, then moved on to the Qual and chicken, followed by the bread pudding. Everything dish complimented what was accompanied with it. I would definitely recommend it due to the service (Letty) and the great food and wine pairings.
Always an exquisite dining experience! The food is indeed fine, the staff is helpful and friendly if not downright playful. Don't skip the bread pudding or the chocolate molten cake or whatever other delectable treats are on the dessert menu. Treat your server extra special and you might get more than one of the tiny parting gift cookies!
Ellerbee is truly a fine dining restaurant in Fort Worth. Food is very good, great wine list, and very attentive staff to make your dinner a special event. Perfect spot for special occasions.
Delicious! We had such a great experience here. The food is farm to table and all was fresh and prepared in unique and tasty ways. The menu changes from season to season, so we'll definitely be back for more of a winter-type menu. Atmosphere was dreamy, and it was decorated beautifully. This is such a great date night spot!! We will definitely be back!
Matt - was amazing. Truly a memorable experience! This was the best meal I had in a long long time
One of my favorite restaurants. Small but not cramped. I enjoy that the tables aren't crammed together and easy to have a conversation at the table. We went for Valentines and enjoyed the dinner. The Eggs Benedict salad was unique and delicious. My date had the Delmonico style steak and it was delicious. I had the monkfish. It was my first time and I loved it. Delicious! We had a shared dessert, Baked Alaska. This was the best, or one of, the best desserts I've ever eaten. It got better with every bite. I enjoy the atmosphere and the service is always great. I look forward to my next visit.
Best overall dinner experience that I've had in many years. The food was amazing, our waiter was perfect and the ambience is classic. We shared the fried oyster appetizer and all four of us raved. My wife had the cauliflower soup which was extraordinary while the rest of us enjoyed our salads. My Redfish was tantalizing and I devoured it in minutes while the Duck was a big hit with the wife. The waiter was knowledgeable, likeable and had helpful opinions which I always appreciate. I will make this a regular rotation going forward.
We had a perfect dinner here last week - the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, the food was delicious, and the setting was great. Thank you for everything you did to make our experience special!
Wow times infinity for this farm to table dining experience! We had a group of 20+ people for a private party that was quite amazing from start to finish. The staff handling the dinner went above and beyond providing excellent wine choices, moving tables around to keep guests comfortable, to expert advice on entree selection. Not one person was disappointed by their food throughout the entire meal-- which is impressive considering lamb is very difficult to get cooked well. I ordered it and can tell you to not fear, the NZ delicacy's cookery was perfection. I would go again to this restaurant in a heart beat when I return to Ft Worth!!
Food was good, service was incredible, and a wine list one can find hidden gems that aren't overpriced. My kind of place! I had a sou-vide prime rib that was a good cut of ribeye and had great flavor. Wife had the beet salad (very good) and duck confit. Duck was a tad dry but otherwise had good flavor. We washed it down with the Alpha Omega and a CDP selection. Overall, very good. EFF is definitely in our rotation now when we visit Ft Worth.
The atmosphere and service was great! We enjoyed the experience and the food was absolutely delicious. We began with the cheese plate that definitely made our moth water. For our main courses we ordered the Bass and Rabbit, both phenomenal. The best part was the bread pudding with the tres leches ices cream. Perfect date night without the kiddo!!
Wow, what an amazing dinner experience. My husband and I have dined all over the country and world, and we were so impressed with Ellerbe. It is rated high in our book! They were so kind, helpful, and accommodating. They even helped accommodate to me being gluten free. The food was absolutely amazing and so fresh. We will definitely be back!
Oh my goodness this place is so wonderful! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary tonight and this was the perfect spot. Very sweet and charming place. We had the quail which was delicious! Our waiter, Scott made it such a lovely night and was so wonderful. Can’t say enough good things.
The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing and the staff was top notch! I would recommend this establishment to others as I will be returning as well.
TBD. But im hopeful. They have a really nice set up. The wine is in the humidor, so you know they have aged wine.
One of my favorites in DFW. Incredible Louisiana- perhaps more broadly Southern - cuisine. Highly recommend.
Recent January visit was our fourth to this excellent spot! Crab claws, yellowtail, and the citrus cake were all delicious. The service was great, and the atmosphere was great as usual. There were some misses this time: the fish was under done and the dessert portion was surprisingly small. But they quickly replaced the fish, and the dessert was too delicious to complain about. And after multiple trips, Ellerbe is still a standout.
Amazing staff and the food, THE FOOD, beyond amazing! Great dishes and a must go to
For fine dining in downtown Fort Worth area highly recommend. They change the menu based on food availability of that season. So cool!
All the stars. All of them. Should be one from Michelin. This is the hands down the best dining experience I've had in Ft. Worth. The food is absolutely amazing. The chef has an amazing palate. The flavor combinations are incredible. The best black-eyed peas I've ever had. The bread pudding is amazing! There is nothing on the menu that will disappoint. In fact, all of it will amaze you. This is a dining pleasure. The quality and care that every dish receives will bring you joy. We will be back. Often. Update: We have been back. Several times with friends and it continues to be exceptional. The venue, the staff, the decor, it all compliments an amazing and always fresh menu. Book your table now, you can thank me later.
Ellerbe is my favorite restaurant of all time. The staff is phenomenal. The menu is constantly changing with new items, keeping things fresh and lively. I come in frequently and never order the same thing twice. Highly recommend!!
I was very skeptical of this restaurant before going but we decided to give it a shot. We started with the popped grains with fruit and cheese and they were very good. We then proceeded to have the BLT soup which was top notch. For my main I had the Texas red fish which was excellent. Then for dessert we had the bread pudding which was life changing. The ingredients were fresh and light. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend going will definitely be returning.
Can’t say enough about how great our experience was at this restaurant. Service was excellent! The salad and meal were perfect. The dessert( bread pudding) was out of this world. Great atmosphere also. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!
I just had the best meal I've ever had. Note this word: EVER. That is not hyperbole. I was surprised with each new dish, marveling at the chef's achievement in unique and delicious flavor combinations without being the slightest bit pretentious. I found myself laughing as the meal progressed. It was literally joy-inducing. The menu changes frequently, apparently, but the menu shown here is close to what we had. I had the summer melon salad, farmer's market platter with chicken, and chocolate tart (which, since not shown in the menu pictured here, I'll tell you had a graham cracker crust and marshmallow cream topping). My husband had the cowtown market tomato salad, baseball cut steak, and bread pudding (which I can't begin to describe, just...heavenly). Oh, and we shared a side of black-eyed peas with cornbread and pancetta butter. I can't move. I don't regret it. Service was lovely too - attentive but not overbearing, helpful, pleasant. Please eat here if you are ever in Fort Worth.
Absolutely amazing experience! It was my first time at Ellerbees and definitely will not be my last. I had the fan favorite fried okra with homemade ranch. The okra was flash fried in cornmeal. Very different and excellent. There was none of the slimy texture I associate with okra. The waiter Scott sold me on the entire appetizer and entree menu. After much deliberation I got the gulf shrimp and rabbit crepes. As much as the shrimp were cooked to perfection, my favorite part of the dish was the zucchini and cheese 'salad' on the bottom. A perfect summer appetizer. The rabbit crepes were perfection. Slow cooked for over 3 hours made the rabbit almost melt in your mouth. The cheese and crepes were an excellent addition. I truly can't wait to get back to this restaurant.
So good! The food is top of the line and the wine selection is very extensive. I highly recommend the lamb chops and chefs steak. By far the best two dishes on the menu. And service is so attentive. They know you are there to eat good and treat you like it. The staff is knowledgeable of the menu and able to make great suggestions for food and wine. If you are looking for elegant menu in a slightly casual setting this is your place.
Linda and I had a wonderful dinner. Starting with great cocktails! We find ourselves coming here more often since they added cocktails to their bar offerings, a delicious grilled octopus starter, a very fresh and seasonal supper fruit salad made with local peaches and blueberries, Linda had the quail entree and I had the redfish. Both entrees were delicious. We completed the evening with the same peaches and blueberries in a cobbler with cups of the best decaf coffee I have had in a while.
The food was superb once again. The first time I came with a group but last Friday we celebrated my significant other's birthday. The server Ryan made recommendations and really knew his stuff. He was right when he explained the portion sizes are just perfect where you don't feel over-stuffed. The music was totally awesome since my boyfriend loves old soul. Every item from start to finish was made with value and care. Kudos to the chef, staff, including valet. I truly enjoyed this place.
Had an amazing time and everyone there was so so kind and thoughtful! I had told out waitress about my boyfriends birthday tomorrow (7/19) as some small talk. Once we ordered desert and got our bread pudding ( which is AMAZING ), they brought his out with a cute bday candle!! NO I did not ask, nor remind anyone of his bday, but she remembered what I said and went out of her way to get a bday candle added to his desert! It was just so thoughtful and it goes to show how much they care and value their customers and want to ensure EVERYONE leaves satisfied. I definitely definitely recommend for a nice, special occasion or celebration of the sort, or if you’re just feeling like a little fine dining!
Perhaps the best fine dining experience is FW. Stunning work. Delightful flavors in the watermelon salad. The multiple layers of peppers in the summer squash soup were perfectly managed. Our entrees, Coq a Vin and Salmon were uniquely seasoned and executed beautifully. I will stand on anyone’s coffee table in NOLA and state this McCook’s Bread Pudding is the most delicious… ever. The subtle details of service are perfect. Thank you. You were great when you started and improving through the years.
We did a girls dinner before we went to see Lady Gaga. We had a 6pm reservation and had a table in their lovely glass front area. Didn’t take any pics of the food or drinks because we got so involved in catching up. Allison was our waitress and she was fabulous! We had the mahi mahi and the redfish. Beet salad. Everything’s delicious snd Allison suggested the best food and drinks and was a delight. All the staff was so friendly. One of the girls at the hostess table was kind enough to provide us with a fab photo shoot before we left. Great experience will return!!!
Farm to table restaurant- We enjoyed our dinner at this corner place restaurant. Good options of food. The staff are very attentive and explained what’s on the menu. A good place for celebration, date, or special occasion. No loud noises or distraction. (To the owner, yes you can use the photos to social media)
I had a fantastic experience dining solo at the bar. The food is great and the vibe is just right, between sophisticated and comforting. Lindsay was excellent and very helpful in deciding what to order. A nice visit from Kirby the manager informed me of the history of the building and local area highlights. I’m so glad I stopped in for dinner. Thanks for a great evening!
An excellent experience. Mante (sorry for the spelling) was our waiter who provided excellent and enthusiastic advice, especially given a menu that changes seasonally. We started off with the Fir Coat and Riff Ram Bah Zoo for drinks, both of which were amazing. We had the gumbo and the mussels fromage as appetizers. The mussels were the best I've ever had, with a cream and white wine sauce I could have eaten by itself. The blue cheese complimented the sauce well even for members of the party who generally don't like blue cheese. This was definitely one for two highlights of the meal for me. The gumbo was fine, but I was a little disappointed with it. The flavor was not terrible, but it was relatively bland, and I would have liked some spiciness. I also would have been happier with more andouille sausage and less turkey which just felt stringy. I would not order this again. We followed this up with the risotto and redfish with added shrimp. The risotto was outstanding. It had a perfect blend of flavors including pesto and lemon with perfect texture. The manchego cheese topping on top of fennel made it looks almost like a Christmas tree with snow on it. I could have eaten this endlessly. The redfish was also very good with a perfect crust. The sauce was tangy and slightly sweet. I felt the redfish was overshadowed somewhat by the shrimp and collard greens which were the best parts of this entree. However the redfish mixed well with the greens and sauce. We ended with the bread pudding with added restaurant-made praline ice cream. The bread pudding was incredible. The outer layer was slightly crispy with perfectly soft and doughy interior. The sauce it came with was excellent as well. Unfortunately the praline ice cream tasted more like vanilla ice cream and was extremely icy. The bread pudding would have been better off plain. The whole experience was great despite a few things that could be improved. We would love to come back.
We started with the croquette - it was crispy and light and the perfect start to the meal. Then we had the beet salad and I can’t put into words how delicious it was - my favorite part of the meal. I had the salmon and it was juicy, crispy, tangy, and honestly perfect. My husband had the risotto and said it was fantastic - rich, savory, and salty. And the bread pudding - I have never had better bread pudding in my life.
Food was fantastic. I ended up ordering a second salad it was so good. You can tell each item of each dish is individually seasoned/prepared then added to the plate. Constant change in flavor with each shovel load I inhaled. Great staff who can really dive into details on the menu.
I recently attended a private event at Ellerbe Fine Foods hosted by the Entrepreneurs' Organization, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. The space was perfect for a group meeting - warm, elegant, and just the right atmosphere for both networking and great conversation. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was top-notch, but the bread pudding was to die for — easily one of the best I’ve ever had. If you're looking for an exceptional venue for a private event or just want a phenomenal meal in Fort Worth, Ellerbe is the place.
My wife and I recently had the pleasure to dine at Ellerbe. It was evident that this establishment values both quality and hospitality. We began our evening with a delightful starter of grilled octopus and blistered shishito peppers—an off-menu recommendation from our exceptional server, Letty. Her enthusiasm and knowledge were unmatched; she guided us through the menu with warmth and confidence, painting such a vivid picture of the rack of lamb that we were nearly sold on the description alone. Letty’s service was nothing short of outstanding—gracious, attentive, and sincerely passionate about the dining experience. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Grigio that was pleasant, well-chilled, and complemented the richness of the food nicely. For the main course, I opted for the chef’s choice steak, which was a sirloin prepared to a perfect medium rare. While it was well-executed and flavorful, I would rate it a modest four stars—very good, though I’ve had more memorable cuts elsewhere. My wife chose the rack of lamb, which she thoroughly enjoyed and would happily order again. To conclude our meal, we shared the restaurant’s famous bread pudding, and I must say—it truly lived up to its reputation. Rich, comforting, and beautifully presented, it was the highlight of the evening. In summary, Elerbe offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, elevated by impeccable service and thoughtfully prepared cuisine. While the food earns a solid four stars in my opinion, the service—especially by Letty—deserves a full five stars. A wonderful evening overall.
Great evening celebrating a friend’s birthday. I had the steak and my wife had braised pork shank. For dessert we split the Bread Pudding. Usually my wife is not interested in Bread Pudding. This one, she did more than her share of eating! Service was very good. Would recommend for a nice occasion or celebration!
Our groups’ experience at Ellerbe Fine Foods was a little different as we went for a small celebration, hosted in the front room, with a prefixed menu. Regardless, we all enjoyed everything about it! From the delicious food and drink to the inviting ambience to the friendly service made for a truly wonderful time! I definitely intend to go back. Note: I recommend calling ahead with any questions about menus, parking, reservations, etc.
Everything was delicious and Ivan took great of us. After popping open a bottle of Merry Edward’s Sauvignon blanc, started off with the crab claws and Delicata squash Burrata. For mains we shared the risotto and quail. My first visit and won’t be my last. I know the menu changes here with the seasons, which can be bittersweet if you find something you love. (Food hack: order the claws so you can use that butter on the complimentary bread)
I always love coming here, though it’s nearly an hour from home. The staff make you feel welcome, the servers explain the new seasonal menu items so well, and the food is perfect. Ohhhh…the warm bread with the lightly salt-topped butter is the perfect warm up. I also ordered the chickpea soup and the duroc pork belly, which had an onion soubaise base (this was new for me and I’m definitely going to make this at home!) and shaved apples and radicchio - a VERY fall-inspired meal! I ended the meal with their infamous bread pudding. It is the best in the city, or dare I say, all of Texas! (Just know it is NOT the soggy kind most are used to.) They have the option to order Maw Maw’s bread pudding for thanksgiving, which I did, of course! (Serving size 6-8 pp.) Manta was my server and he was great, always cordial in the formal greetings. Always enjoy Ellerbe Fine Foods!
We are so glad we found this gem of a restaurant. The food was top quality as well as the drinks and the manager's service was just outstanding. The bartender was awesome too! I had the best salmon I've ever had and the bread pudding was delicious! Can't wait to celebrate my birthday here.
We were celebrating our 37th anniversary and wanted a special place to celebrate. Ellerbe certainly delivered! The appetizers are individually sized and the curry shrimp had a great balance of seafood to curry. The curry did not overpower at all. Both of our seafood entrees were very well done. The chef certainly takes great care to source local and fresh ingredients. The bread pudding may ascend to my #1 spot as I search on personal and business travel to find the best representation. Our waiter was Ian, and he clearly articulated the menu and wine choices. The wine list is extensive, and anyone can find something in their budget, whether by the glass or bottle. Valet parking is free and Greg serviced us well. We tipped well as that is how he is paid. Street park this free if you can find it on busy Magnolia.
This was our second visit to Ellerbe. I love the change in menu for the seasons. Our waiter brought us great wine and we couldn’t stop eating, it was so delicious! We had the quail, the squash salad, and the venison - they were all cooked perfectly and the salad is my new favorite! We also had the bread pudding and plum ice cream which were delicious. Such a fun place to go for special occasions. It is a little pricy but well worth it.
Great food and great service. Wanted to take my wife somewhere nice for her birthday. This was a great choice. The restaurant uses local ingredients on all their dishes, and boy that makes a difference! I went with the seared duck and my wife went with the Veal Milanese. The wait staff was awesome and they able to answer all my questions about where they get their local ingredients. The appetizers were also great and the dessert was amazing. You have to try the bread pudding! I want to try everything on that menu but the items change regularly due to the local ingredients being available. Can't wait to go back!
Food was good but I guess I was just expecting more after hearing so much praise. The escargot had a much earthier flavor than I'm used to (I don't eat it all the time, but enough that I could definitely tell a difference). Our waitress was very nice and they added a candle to our dessert as it was my birthday. I don't expect a nice restaurant to comp the dessert, but do wish we'd known that adding one single scoop of ice cream to our bread pudding would've turned the $8 dish to $13...$5 seems a little excessive for a la mode but that's just me.
I truly wanted to give a 5 star review for this neighborhood gem but sadly the food was not that impressive. The restaurant itself is adorable and yet fancy schmancy. The table was appointed beautifully, our waiter was very knowledgeable, friendly and made our visit very enjoyable. We started with the asparagus and biscuit with pork. The asparagus dish was basically a small plate of arugula with uncooked asparagus and half of a tart. The dressing tasted like store bought and the dish wasn't properly dressed. My daughter and I didn't finish our plates and actually didn't even order a main dish (based on our starter, we weren't interested in the small choices). Our son finished his biscuit/pork starter and enjoyed his main dish, Drum. The bread with Hawaiian salt butter left on the table was very good, as well as the desserts. Make sure and pair a dessert with one of their homemade ice cream choices. I would visit Ellerbe again for the atmosphere and the wine but not the food. Bon Appetit!
I've only eaten here twice. The first time was a couple months ago and it was exceptional. The dishes were very original and the presentation and service was top notch. There were 6of us and everyone agreed that it was one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at. My second visit was this past weekend and I was a little disappointed with my main course, the tomahawk porkchop. It was overcooked and quite dry and though. The flavor was fine but it didn't live up to my expectations. I was halfway through the meal before I had a chance to tell the waiter. Having eaten half the meal I declined the offer for a new plate. My dinner partners had fish and steak entrees that were perfect. I'll still go back and I do recommend this restaurant. Their menu changes with the season.
The food is delicious. We had the chicken and the trout. Both were full of flavor and I would order again. The wines by the glass wasn't so good. I had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which was terrible, followed by a Chablis that was worse. It's no wonder why the restaurant does not allow small samples.
A very nice restaurant with friendly staff who are well-versed in the ever-changing menu and incredible selection of wines, even though I didn't drink on my visit. It has a beautiful ambiance but the men's restroom was not very clean. I had the Baseball Cut 10oz steak and it was good, but I would've preferred a pinch of kosher salt to balance out the tangy reduction, which had an aftertaste similar to a mild swiss cheese. I chose to double the arugula salad and forego the turnip/potato au gratin and that was a GREAT choice. I could've eaten two plates of the salad by itself and been happier. Trust me - it is exceptional. The other members of our party got either the quail (deemed "good") or the pork shoulder, with opinions ranging from "great" to "bland". Regardless of flavor opinion, a consistent praise for the pork was its tenderness and texture. Everyone thought the vegetable sides were fantastic, as were the desserts of spiced peach ice cream or bread pudding. I was full after the steak, so I did not try dessert, but everyone else loved their selections. The tiny pastry cookies served with the bill were delicious. At our table, wine ranged from $13-$28 per glass. I had water, and it was ice cold and refreshing, and the waitress left me two glass bottles, so I was never empty. All in all, Ellerbe was very good but not exactly the perfect place for a savory palate like mine. Your tastes may vary, of course.
Atmosphere was very warm, inviting, upscale but cozy. Service was not bad but void of any personality, warmness or interaction. For this caliber of restaurant I do expect more. Food- everything was very good buy the steak was extremely chewy. Scallops melted in your mouth! Break pudding was very sweet but delicious. Beet salad was very good. Turkey gumbo didn't have much depth like you would find in New Orleans. Portions are slightly small for price. Bread lacked salt. The scallops were something else and I would go back for them and the cozy elegant decor.
I had the pork chop and, while the sauce was flavorful, it was a bit tough and dry. I ordered a soup to start off though it never arrived. Still, the service was good. I was hoping to be wow'ed but not so. The rest of the table was happy with their meals - from salmon to a child's grilled cheese.
Gem of a fine dining experience. One of the best wine lists in Ft Worth. Pro tip: whats online should be accurate, but call ahead to see whats on the menu that day,
What a lovely place to eat in Fort Worth! The decor, the food and the staff were very accommodating including the valet attendant. Love all the natural light coming through the windows and would make a perfect bridal shower spot as well as a classy date night. Food was excellent! Portions were not big , but were excellent!
I used to love this place it was my go-to for great dining in Fort worth. I'm thinking maybe we just got it on an off night. The gumbo starter was watery and Bland. Something you don't really expect after being told how the chef is really showing off their New Orleans roots. My wife and I figured we had just missed something and moved on from there. Next up was the redfish which was also rather disappointing. I don't remember what we had for dessert would obviously didn't leave much of an impression. We've been in the past and had great food so again this may have just been an off night.
We took friends that had never been. Patio was great! Ambience was great! Food was good. Service was poor. We waited 15 minutes after seating to get water or contact with wait person and it was not very crowded. We ordered a second glass of wine, waited 20 minutes as waiter forgot. Empty water glasses, waited another 20 minutes. This was definitely not the norm but we were embarrassed since we had taken our friends.
Fantastic service, as all the other reviews mention. Unfortunately, the food is not on par with the service, ambiance, or the prices. If you only have five items on the menu, make them the best. The soup was bland, and the main dishes (pork chop and tenderloin) were boring. Why do you serve a $55 tenderloin sliced? I enjoy eating my steak at my own pace; this made me feel like I had to eat it fast as it cooled down quickly. Additionally, I couldn't cut it properly. The slices are thinner than I like, resulting in a loss of flavor from small crust to meat proportion per bite. The “dumplings” with the pork chop are sliced cooked potatoes and leave a lot to desire. We had to chug the rest of our wine as we watched the ice cream melt on the not-so-famous bread pudding after asking for it not to be brought out until after we finished our wine. It's not that the dessert was terrible; I can imagine really enjoying it, especially after not just gulping down an entire glass of Napa Cab at $150 a bottle. I'm sure some meals are excellent and some evenings are memorable. Ours was, just not for the best of reasons. We won't recommend or be back. On a positive note, we won't tell people not to try it when asked. They may get luckier than we did, and I'm sure it's worth it when that happens! All these positive reviews don't produce themselves, right! *Note* - This review was written and posted on Google in February. Google reposted it to a new date after a grammar edit was made. I can’t attest to how many “bad nights” Ellerbe has or hasn’t had since.
Great service. Price to food quality makes it easy to explore elsewhere. I had the lamb, my wife the red fish. Both dishes were of no significance. Waiter was extremely nice and knowledgeable and the wine was great. Unlikely to return though.
Food and service were good but if they try and wedge me in-between the only other two tables in an otherwise empty restaurant again, I'm simply going to walk out. That banquette should accommodate 3 tables, not 4. Empty back room, empty front room, mostly empty main room. We are not in Midtown and you are not booked solid all night.
I really wanted to love this place since the online reviews were great. But my experience there was just okay. The reception that we got from the hostess was lukewarm when we enter the restaurant. I give the service 3 stars for adequate. We were not greeted by our waiter when we were seated at the table. He happened to be a foot away from our table. However, he was so preoccupied with the table that is adjacent to us that he was oblivious to our presence. He walked past our table several times yet he didn’t say hello to us until he finished taking away their dinner plates, took their dessert order, served them dessert, and filled up their water. We shared a long booth with four other tables. So we were surprised that he didn’t acknowledge us. I do want to give him credit for having good knowledge about the menu and the wine. He never filled our water. We had to ask for it to be filled. I give the ambiance 1 Star. Our table was 2 feet next to the other table. We share a long booth with strangers right next to us. Terrible place for date night. Several gnats were flying everywhere around the tables. We killed 2. I give the food 4 Stars- salads and entrees were great, dessert underwhelming. I wanted to be Wowed and it was just “Meh!” Compared to my Clay Pigeon 5 Stars overall experience, I give Ellerbe 3 Stars. To Owner: Yes you may contact me.
Mother's Day Brunch was sadly underwhelming. To be fair, this was my only visit, so it may have been an isolated incident. However, nothing about the experience left me wanting to return. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant's interior is bright, airy, and elegant, creating a lovely ambiance. Unfortunately, the food fell short of my expectations based on their reputation. We had a special Mother's Day prix fixe menu that included an amuse-bouche, starter, entrée, and dessert. Here's a breakdown of the dishes: Amuse-bouche: This consisted of banana bread with peanut butter bacon whipped butter. It was honestly the best part of the meal. My only disappointment was that my three-year-old daughter wasn't offered a piece, which was a shame considering how small they were. Starters: * I had the romaine heart Caesar salad. It was just okay. The dressing was watery and under-seasoned, and there were only two small croutons. * My wife had some type of creamy soup, I believe spinach. It was also under-salted and was served with a charred lemon slice. The lemon was a nice touch visually but didn't enhance the flavor of the dish and wasn't something one would typically eat. Entrée: * I had a beef kefta served on a small bed of couscous. The flavors were enjoyable, but the meat was very dry, and the meat-to-side ratio was unbalanced. There was a generous amount of kefta but only what felt like a tablespoon or two of couscous. * My wife had a prosciutto tart. The tart itself was mediocre, the pastry seemed like it sat out too long. It was accompanied by a mountain of lettuce and a few unsalted, cold boiled potatoes. Dessert: If I recall correctly, it was supposed to be a butter cake, but it tasted like a plain iced cake with pistachios. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. Again, perhaps this was an off day for them, but the food simply didn't live up to the hype or the ambiance. If you're looking to spend a bit more in this area, I believe Clay Pigeon, Fixe Southern House, and Roots Southern Table offer experiences that better match their reputations.
Service was extremely slow, ordering and periods between delivery took way too long. Waiter was nice, but didn’t deliver drinks when he said he was going to, as well as food. Food was ok at best. Some serving staff did not say a word when serving food.
We came into the pre-fixe Valentine's Day menu with high expectations based on glowing reviews, and we love the farm-to-table concept. Unfortunately nothing stood out - very standard dishes and the execution was good but not great. The savory courses were pleasant but on the bland side and we found the dessert overpoweringly sweet. Given that they charged $105 per person for an appetizer, main, and shared dessert, the quality should have been exceptional and not just solid. Service was friendly and high quality and the atmosphere was very nice. The rose for every couple provided at the end of the meal was an extremely nice touch.
I went on 3/27/24 and experienced the new spring menu. My entire group of 7 was highly disappointed. Not a single starter was able to be shared, the sizes were crazy small. The mains did not have proper sides and the only side to order was collard greens. The biggest let down was the pappardelle which had maybe 3 noodles total. We went to get chicken tenders after because we were so hungry. The one good think I recommend ordering was the veal because it was an actual meal. They also did not have beer.
First course was a salad, which had not been washed and had some grit in it, something I noticed another review mentioned. The main course was duck leg, which was not salted properly. I was genuinely surprised when I tasted the first bite and immediately realized it had not been seasoned. Not wanting to cause any trouble, I did not send it back to the kitchen, although it should have been sent back. Dessert was house made cookies and cream ice cream with a house made cookie. The ice cream was bad, just worse than any store bought cookies and cream ice cream I've ever had. I'm sure what happened is they wanted to have "house made ice cream" on the menu, but they just did not execute it properly. They should have tasted it and never let it leave the kitchen and be served to guests. It's really a shame because the service was nice and the ambiance was pleasant, which is why I give two stars and not one.
I really wanted to like it. The concept is good. Farm to table was a real draw for me. Unfortunately, I found the food bland (except the drum fish but I got a bone on my first bite.) The duck breast could have been great but it wasn't. We all wanted a crispy skin and more tenderness. The pecan wood steak was of a grocery store quality which is edible but needed at least some salt. The fresh vegetables however took center stage. I do wish the brussels were roasted but they were not bitter. Some sand in the asparagus but still good. Yes the bread pudding is a winner. A glass of house cab is 20.00. (They never brought the second glass i requested.) Not the best either. It was served cold, like fridge? Probably not going back.
Really surprised by the amount of 5-star reviews. The food was very good, but that's about the only positive. We went during restaurant week to try it out and won't be going back. Service was very slow, atmosphere wasn't much unless you like to watch cars driving by on Magnolia Street, parking option was street (if you could find any) or valet. I requested a scoop of ice cream to go with my bread pudding dessert and received a small half-melted scoop for $8. Expensive enough dining on the Restaurant Week menu. Can only imagine what the cost would be if ordering off the regular menu.
Ellerbe Fine Foods, while boasting a menu with some intriguing dishes, completely failed to deliver on the expected level of service. Our waiter, Ye Jun Y (who I believe goes by "Alvin"), exhibited an unsettling level of condescension and disrespect throughout our meal, even throwing his head back and rolling his eyes at one point which a person in our party caught. His tone was consistently patronizing, and he seemed more interested in showcasing his own perceived knowledge than attending to our needs. Simple requests were met with unnecessary commentary and a dismissive attitude. This created an incredibly uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience. When we were brought our check, a member of our party was attempting to inquire about how we wanted to separate the checks and instead was rudely interrupted with “No, there’s not an automatic gratuity included” when he didn’t even know what the inquiry was to begin with because he didn’t allow her to even complete her sentence. To further exacerbate the situation, the manager did absolutely nothing to address our concerns when they were brought to their attention. This lack of action speaks volumes about the restaurant's priorities and their apparent disregard for customer satisfaction. Having dined at numerous "fine-dining" establishments, I can confidently say that this was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered. The pretentious atmosphere and the appalling service from both the waiter and management have completely deterred me from ever patronizing Ellerbe Fine Foods again aside from the food being exceptionally bland and subpar to describe themselves as a “farm-to-table” restaurant. The most flavorful dish was the bread and butter. I strongly advise potential diners to consider alternative options where they can enjoy their meal without the added stress of dealing with such unprofessional and disrespectful staff.
