Opinions de Mamacita's Fredericksburg
Mamacita's, yes, very nice place. The menu is extensive, as in all Mexican restaurants I've been in. One major difference here is.... SERVICE! The wait staff was on top of it from the minute I walked in. The manager was checking on all of the tables to make sure everything was satisfactory. The complementary green and red sauce is outstanding, green is my favourite. I had the en todo plate, cheese enchilada, tamale, rice, beans, beef taco, guacamole and added a cheese chalupa with extra guacamole. Then I ordered chili con queso to take home to the wife. And all for less than $30.00. Go there, enjoy the ambiance and great food!
Our family of 5 went here for dinner and we all loved it! The drinks (margaritas) were top notch and so was the food. I had fajitas and the tortillas, meat and veggies were hot and delicious. We also really liked the salsa and green sauce with chips. The server was attentive and got it all out correctly with good pacing. The decor is nice and the ambiance is great for pretty much all occasions. My only suggestion would be to seat tables of 5 or more at larger tables because we felt very crowded whenever possible.
Everyone was very friendly. Our 15 minute wait was more like 5 minutes. Our server, Walter, was great from start to finish. Every bit of our food; ribeye, chicken fajitas, beef taco/tamale/cheese enchilada plate was piping hot, served fast, and absolutely delicious. I’m sad we don’t have time to hit them again before we head home. 🤤
The service and food were great. The green salsa? that they brought out when we sat down was an absolute win. It's apparently sour cream, avocado, garlic, tomato, and seasonings. So good! We tried naming it avatomato crem, but it sounded too much like an incantation for a spell. Either way, would recommend.
Best I ever ate! Clean, friendly, and so good. I had spinach enchiladas and my husband had chili relleno !
We loved it! Had the nachos and enchiladas and the portions were huge and delicious. Tortillas are homemade too! Love the feel if the restaurant and lively colors. The chips could be better and I wasn't a fan of the sour cream dip BUT these are free so no complaints. Salsa was good.
Amazing food and margaritas- but the large margarita is huge- see in photo comparison of small and large. Great food, the salsa was the best we had ever had and it was served in a large bowl which was great!!! The atmosphere I'd also really nice - highly recommen in your are wanting Mexican food
The avocado dipping sauce served with the chips was a hit with our group and the salsa was just as good! We were pleasantly surprised that their beans and their refried beans were vegan. Every body was pleased with their order, from cheese enchiladas w/carne sauce to fajitas, it was delicious. A nice addition to the dining experience was the visible tortilla making area. The kids really enjoyed watching the process!
Really good service with even better food! Laid back environment as well, would definitely recommend!
Mamacitas is an extraordinary place. The food was soooooo good! I wish I had the photos of us with our drinks. They were huge! And they were delish! I've added the photo of my dish (green chicken enchiladas) and a pic of some interestingly colored dip. The dip was fantabulous. The whole meal and experience left me speechless. With every bite, with every sip, my eyes rolled back in my head. I can't wait to visit again.
I wish I could give 6 stars. Excellent food quality, service, and cleanliness. I was shocked at what I got for the price. I would have still been happy with my experience if I had paid considerably more.
Been going to this location for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. One of my favorite restaurants to visit.
I don't give many 5 stars but this place earned it. Service was spot on. Drinks never ran out, always a plus for me. The portions of food were plentiful, filling and so so delicious. The Carne Guisada I got was the best I've had from Houston to here. The fajita meat was flavorful and tender as well. I wasn't limited to just 2 or 3 tortillas, I had near a dozen. They were pretty busy but yet the waitress, Wendy, never missed a beat. The food was out faster than any place I've been that was this busy. The chips are by far the best dipping chips I've ever had. The large margaritas are just that LARGE! Very amazing establishment. If I'm ever out this way again e will be stopping here to eat.
Great Tex-Mex food. Everything was delicious and close to authentic Mexican food. I wish the tortillas were closer to the original, but overall it was an excellent choice for the kids and my hubby. I had the Chile Relleno, and my husband had the beef fajita plate. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Dinner was amazing, got the beef fajitas! Many delisous gluten free options! Great service Noe L was attentive, gave great suggestions, and helpful.
Visiting Fredericksburg from Houston and we were recommended to go to Mamacita's by one of the locals and glad we did. I'm half Mexican and am a big sceptic when it comes to Mexican food outside the house and it was really good Texmex. To start off the drinks were good, I asked for a shaken margarita with easy sweet and sour and it came out great. I ordered fajita tacos which came out delicious and moist. Fajita wasn't dry and the beans and rice were good. My husband had a combo plate and ate every bite. My parents order shrimp enchiladas and I think that was the biggest hit from the table. The shrimp were large and the flavors on point. Beyond all the amazing food our server was the best. Daniel was very attentive even as they started closing and we were still finishing dinner. We definitely recommend Mamacita's and will return next time we go through.
The food is incredible and the service is even better. I accidentally placed a to go order for the San Antonio location. The Fredericksburg manager, without my asking, got on the phone and transferred my order and was happy to help. Avocado dip with chips is delicious as is tamale plate.
Food was delicious We had the carnitas and the chicken fajitas. John M did amazing taking care of us even though this is one of the busiest nights being parade night. Can't wait to come back
My family I visited this restaurant last November, I know it’s a while ago but I would love to write a good review. We were in Fredericksburg for holiday, I am originally from Germany. We loved the food and the super sweet waitress. She was always around, so we never had to wait or even ask for something to drink or anything else, because she already saw that we needed something. The food was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. So thank you for this experience. Greets from Germany.
Hubby and I had date night and Mamacita’s was incredible and our server Noe was top notch h!!! He was friendly, informative and on the ball!!!water and tea was constantly filled. They have a dip that is a strange color, but oh so good!!! I would say Noe should get 10 stars!!!
Great food and great service. Avacado dip was a strange mint color, but worth the risk. Manager sat us and came back shortly to make sure our waitress had took our drink order. They sat us so we would be comfortable instead of trying to squeeze us into a small space. Will definitely return.
My son and I had a great dinner tonight. We had the queso flameado and he loved watching it be lit on fire. We split the ribs. It was a special of the night, recommended by our server, Walter. It was amazing. Walter was so friendly and professional. Best service ever!
Well, when you are hungry, you look for good food but also fast service. Mamacita's provides all you need, Wendy was helpful, fast and very respectful. She patiently listens to you and understands you. This place made us feel special. The beef fajitas were very delicious! I highly recommend this place.
The beef fajita meat was the best I’ve ever had. Service was fast. We had nachos, taco salad, tacos Al carbon, cheese enchiladas and the beef chimichanga. Everything was as expected. Servings were large. The red salsa was good. Prices seemed on par with the portions.
Best fajitas and tortillas ever. Fantastic Fajita plate with all the fixings. Service was good and they seated us pretty quick even though they were full. Food came out super fast and tasted fresh, the green chip dip is also excellent! 10/10 would come again. We need one of these in Fort Worth. The Boston sounding guy was a good server as well!
Stopped here for dinner. This place is major wow!!! The food was excellent. The fajitas were amazing. The 32 oz mango passion margaritas 🍹 were the best I've ever tried and I've tried alot. Service was superb and the tortillas were the best. Really soft. We highly recommend this place.
Came for lunch, and it was a little busy. Our waiter was quick to greet us and take our drink order. I got a large house margarita that was on the happy hour menu. It was well balanced and not overly sweet like a lot of places make them. I ordered the Guisado Monterrey with steak. The steak was tender, and the ranchero sauce was delicious. I finished up with an order of sopapillas. I recommend getting these. They were fantastic.
Great restaurant. Good service. Food was outstanding. Big portions. *note- wife got NY strip steak and I got country fried steak, so no Mexican cuisine. Still great. Dessert counter was calling but couldn't fit another bite of food. The kitschy restaurants on the main street in Fredericksburg are a 'bit' overpriced and too atmospheric. This place was nice, homey, and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed it. Over the past 10 years, we've always eaten at the Kerrville location. Since we're staying in Fredericksburg, we decided to try the local location. While this location is much smaller, the service and food was just as good. We started with Top Shelf Margaritas. They were decent though I'm not sure there was much Grand Marnier in it. She ordered a combination plate with a beef enchilada, a crispy beef taco, a beef tamale, beans and rice. I ordered the beef enchilada meal with beans and rice. We had the chili sauce on our meals. Of course, the green salsa for the chips was amazing. I'd say this was the only subtle food difference I noticed between this Fredericksburg location and the Kerrville location. Kerrville seemed to be a bit smoother. And while I prefer that, they are both real good. We'll be back next February!
My husband and I were visiting this beautiful town and ended up having dinner in this amazing restaurant! Which is funny because you would think we will be looking for a German restaurant which there are plenty! But we thought, Mexican never fails and we tried this one and let me tell you, it was amazing! Amazing food, amazing service, the design inside was so cozy and authentic, we loved it! They have this unique salsa verde for the chips, you have to try it’s really good!
The TORTILLAS!!! Absolutely delicious and made right there in the restaurant. Reminded me of the ones my great aunt used to make when we lived in Mexico. Great atmosphere and very family friendly. My server was John and he was very attentive and checked on my needs often! Food came out quick and tasted amazing! Overall great experience.
My goodness, we came in on a Wednesday night, we were seated promptly. The chips and salsa were to die for! I got carnitas and my daughter got chicken tacos. Both meals were spot on! Very good, very authentic. The star of my plate was the tomatillo sauce. I could have drank it! It was so good! We also both had lemonades that were fantastic! The restaurant was very clean, the staff were so helpful and kind! We will defiantly be back!!!
We went for dinner on a weekend in Fredericksburg. We got sat immediately, but had to wait a while for our food as several large groups had come in ahead of us. The salsa and the green dip were amazing. The chips were hot, fresh, and crispy. The enchiladas and the fajitas were very good. We would definitely return when we are back in the area.
This Mexican restaurant had a good amount of vegetarian options, which was a big plus for us. The atmosphere was really nice and welcoming. The service was pleasant, and the staff were patient and kind in explaining all the vegetarian dishes available. Overall, a great experience for vegetarians looking for flavorful Mexican food!
Came to Fredericksburg for a quick weekend trip. Everywhere was booked, but Mamacita’s was able to seat us within a few minutes. The tortillas and fajitas were amazing and shout out to Lisa. Best waitress!
Great food in a lively setting. Families, big groups, and a bachelorette party were all there on a Friday night. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic about selling us booze (unfortunately one of our party is in recovery so that was awkward) but other than that, everything was great. The green sauce is a bright pistachio green that might scare a first time visitor, but try it! Trust me, it's amazing.
We came by Mamacita’s on a Sunday on the last week before school started. All of Fredricksburg was very busy and Mamacitas was no exception but we were seated very quickly. My daughter had worked as a server in several restaurants and she noticed right away how attentive and efficient all of the staff was. I ordered the Taco Salad but there was 5 people in our group and all of the food was excellent. Mr. Ledswing took care of us and he was outstanding. My wife is in an electric scooter and had no problem negotiating through the restaurant. I highly recommend you try Mamacita’s if you are visiting Fredricksburg!

Great food and margaritas. chips and salsa outstanding. Fajitas were tasty, not greasy and plenty of chicken and vegs.

Best steak fajitas I have ever had. Highly recommend this Mexican restaurant! Service was good and atmosphere great. Freshest tortillas made on site as you watch:)

Just know going in, this is typical Tex Mex cuisine. It's not bad, but not great. Drinks were really good though.
Didn't think we would end up eating Mexican food in Fredericksburg, but it turned out to be a good experience. The wait staff was on point and food was very good. I had the tacos al carbon. The most interesting item was the green sauce they brought out with the red sauce. It was delicious! I couldn't stop eating it. The restaurant is well decorated like an authentic Mexican town. The only thing that could make it better was the seating. No booths in the restaurant that we saw and the chairs are a little stiff. Still enjoyed the meal and if visiting the area again, I would go back. Pricing was good: 2 people, no alcohol, $32.00 for lunch.
Other than the fantastic, house-made tortillas the food is mostly average to slightly above average for Tex-Mex. Our server was kind, but not very attentive to our needs, as we went too long without a refill of chips and drinks. With large portion sizes, Mamacitas is a well priced, family restaurant.
Kudos to this place for having a little gluten free reference menu. The green salsa that comes with the chips looks like that slime from the Nickelodeon show in the 80s but it really does taste better than it looks. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was tasty. I filled up on the complimentary chips so I didn't have room for dessert but the cheesecakes looked good!
Food selection and flavor was excellent. Our waiter got lost several times, however management stepped in to help. It was busy, but not packed and server had worked there quite a while, maybe having a bad day. The restaurant was decorated great and food was wonderful. I would go back.
Beautiful place with a unique home like seating. Food was good, and service was super awesome. We had a good time and specially after having a bad experience at Otto. The server was helpful with the menu and for every thing that they don't serve, they cutely replied " oh!! I love that and i wish we serverd that, but unfortunately we don't". There green sauce is too good and do say yes when they ask you if you need Queso with your nachos. 🥰🥰🥰
Decided to try the one in fredericksburg. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great. They had a line for the bar set up for people who were waiting for a seat. I love the chips and salsa. Our waiter was fast and efficient. There was a lot of big tables with big families. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. It's like that a lot in fredericksburg. I had to try the chimichanga. It was ok. I have had better but not by much .
It's kind of hard not to notice inconsistencies in the food after going here for 30 years. My last visit I ordered a chicken fajita salad. The ends of my chicken breast were missing🫤Never do I remember them cutting the burnt ends off the breasts. I was told it was "portioning" by a manager. SMH. They quickly brought me a plate of chicken breast ends and I was satisfied. My food was okay. There were mostly loud tables full of tourists when I went Friday afternoon. Not ideal for a quiet meal. The waiter, however, was very attentive and the overall experience wasn't too bad.
We enjoyed the glass stained windows and the ambiance. The place is busy and the business seems to be doing well. The sauce for tortilla chips has room for improvements. The green sauce tastes good but a bit salty, and the salsa was bland. The strawberry margarita is overly sweet. The fajita needs lime for marinade and during serving to reduce the greasy flavors. Coconut shrimp was nice but felt greasy towards the fourth one. I would personally prefer lighter fried shrimps and consider using a bit of cornstarch and alcohol in the batter. The coconut shrimp sauce was super sweet as well. The Caesar salad was fresh, but the sauce was also a bit sweet.
I've been to the one in Kerrville, and this location does not disappoint, either! Carnitas were a bit dry, but could've just been the day or time of day I ate. This is NOT a dish that's cooked-to-order LOL. The chips and green dip salsa are unique and tasty. That'll bring me back, along with the service. Teresa did an absolutely professional job, my tea stayed full and she was fully engaged with every table she was tending, simultaneously....the mark of someone who knows what she's doing, and made it look effortless. I'll be back, and try the carnitas again and edit my review.

Good food. Always enjoy the chips and salsa. I had the chalupas and my husband had the enchiladas during our last visit. Both were served with beans and rice. Service was good.

Nice diner and atmosphere with the musicians. The waitress was very nice. You can see the man who makes the tacos in front of you. Portions are crazyyy in America !
Good! Great chips, good salsa and guac dip. Enjoyed the “Deliciouso” dish. Nice atmosphere, but a bit loud. Decent service. Homemade tortillas. Only disappointment was the sopapilla - it’s was flop…
Busy, but was around lunch time. Lots of parking front and back, but stayed at the Super 8 next door, so easy walking
Came here with the wife for a mini outing at Fredericksburg. Decor looked pleasant outside and inside. I was starving and thirsty after enchanted rock. With that given legs up, this place was under average for Tex-Mex. Chips were cold. Salsa had no heat and bland. We ordered Fish Tacos and Carne Guisada with a regular Margarita. Margarita was great. My wifes fish tacos were better than my food. Even though the beef was tender, sauce did not look appetizing and definitely under seasoned. Service made things a little bit more bareable. I probably won't visit anytime in the future.
We had enchiladas in. They just didn't impress me very bland run-of-the-mill. Like my review States service was excellent. She took care of us. Didn't have any problems.
The only thing worth stopping to eat at this place is there tortilla's...homemade...made fresh. Charro beans thumbs down 👎tasted like pork n beans from can.. Rice is dry....Chicken is little tough.... Salsa was too hot and spicy...not sure what green stuff is...doesn't taste good to me.. Very pricey and expensive!! Building inside decor needs to be updated ....windows are nice and only thing unique about this building.
It used to be a really good place to eat. Average atmosphere. Service is decent but staff seemed to be indifferent about their service. Food is average, nothing outstanding except that they make their tortillas fresh there in the restaurant. Restrooms could use a more frequent check up or touch up. There were six of us and the noise level was okay and we could talk without shouting.

I enjoy the food but I don't enjoy the sewage smell in the parking lot. I don't know if it is coming from Panda or Mammacita's but it is disgusting. Why we are smelling such odor makes no sense.

Mommacitas was an average place for Latin food. The chalupo was good and the tacos Al carbon were average. There wasn't much flavor to the chicken. Service was good once our server showed up as …
I ordered a chalupa plate. The chalupa was supposed to have ground meat. When I told the mgr it didn’t have meat on it he took my plate to the back and added a big scoop of ground meat on it and came and put it in my face and said it did have meat. If the meat had been there I would’ve seen it. All I did was laugh and say ok.
The service was good. The food was not. The red salsa was as salty as sea water. Perhaps it was inspired by Admiral Nimitz. The "green salsa" was mostly neon sour cream. The margarita tasted like a big box store mixer. The taco was as dry as the landscape. There is nothing spicy in the restaurant. Overall, everything tasted like Idaho's impression of what Mexican food might be like. But everyone was cheerful and hospitable, so they've got that going for them! *Edit: Maybe they hope the service will make up for the microwave dinner they're putting in front of you, but I would rather boil my shoes and eat that. I should have paid more attention to the reviews that pointed out the ultraviolet green salsa as a key indicator. This is not a Michelin star rated restaurant, it is a Michelin tire restaurant - as in, keep driving.
Mexican martini gets 5 stars. Food decent, service good. What ruffled my feathers was spending 130 plus tip asking for chips to go since we had queso left. We could have refilled our basket but didn’t. Our bad. But the chips given is ridiculous. Pic attached. Come on. They get over 15 a plate and really can’t afford a few chips for a couple who just spent over a hundred there???
I ordered tortilla soup and salad. The soup was good, but the salad was horrible. The Ceasar dressing was the worst I've ever tasted, luckily I didn't put it on my salad. The chicken, it had holes in it like it was fake meat or something. It tasted very dry bland. When I told them the manager, he brought me more to take home, which I declined, he didn't even offer to take it off my bill. It definitely wasn't worth $15. The service was good.
We were a group of 13 visiting from out of town. First off, the waiter is extremely nice and accommodating. Most of our group is vegetarian due to religious reasons and the nice waiter acknowledged he will do everything to ensure the cusine is made appropriately. We received "vegetarian" chimichangas, stuffed with veggies and beef. He brought out the manager, who responded with a "free entree" coupon to a future visit to their restaurant. At first she didn't even want tot remove the chimichangas from the bill, but she finally agreed to do the minimal which was to remove the beef filled chimichangas. If you are vegetarian, steer clear of here.
Taco salad was rather plain. Waiter was not very observant and we had to flag him down for drink refills and waited a while for the bill. Charged for someone else's avocados. Cannot recommend this restaurant.
my experience was HORRIBLE. This restaurant really has gone down hill. The manager was sorta understanding, but the workers are not it. My child is 13 we were celebrating her basketball win tonight! …
The server was really nice, however the food was not good at all. I would give it a 1/10. Please go somewhere else. The drinks are also disappointing.

I usually write pretty positive reviews, but this place deserved an honest review. This is honestly the worst TexMex restaurant I have ever been to. -Immediately walking in, the floors were sticky and gross. -They give you this weird lime green salsa that tastes like sour cream and ranch combined??? It’s disgusting and I don’t know why they serve it since so many people have complained in the reviews about it. (Picture for reference) -WHERE’S THE FLAVOR?? Who is the chef?? This food is the blandest, ZERO flavor. I had to put salt on almost everything. The red salsa was so watery. -Don’t bother ordering a margarita. It tasted like straight up lemonade/margarita mix. -Our food came out quick but realized our food was luke warm and my rice and beans were cold. Almost like they were sitting out in bulk waiting to be plated. -Cheese enchiladas are bland and just have drizzled canned Queso on top of them, and the cheese inside of them wasn’t even FULLY melted because they were not done being cooked. -I will say, the staff was super friendly and very nice! Will all this being said, I can make better TexMex than this at home. Never coming here again and highly discourage people from coming here making this restaurant think the food they are serving here is good.
We had take-out last night and our order was not correct. The take-out cashier was overworked handing out take-outs, answering phones, and also in charge of the connected coffee shop. We ordered the vegetarian fajitas for two, which had no mushrooms or tomatoes, only onions and bell peppers. I ordered salsa to go, one little thing was good, but two order salsas were not good. It’s impossible to adjust changes on online order as well. Super overpriced for what we received. Would not recommend.
Avoid this place. The green sauce is a weird color, like they added food coloring. The chips in the basket are clearly bagged and not freshly made. The queso was canned and didn’t have any onions or bell peppers like the description said. Tasted like baseball park canned cheese. The guacamole was oozing (see photo). The food runner brought out our food and just left it on the tray and walked back to the kitchen. Weird. Our server was busy so we had to look at our food sitting there until our server could come hand it to us. Our server was nice and was probably the busiest guy in the place, no one else refilled chips or drinks. He would either have to tell someone or we’d have to wait until he could. If the glasses were bigger, this wouldn’t be an issue as much, but they were the smallest restaurant glasses I’ve ever seen. Don’t waste your time here.
I have never left a negative review but this was genuinely the worst restaurant with the worst service and food I’ve been to. The shrimp enchiladas were a huge pile of floury tasting gritty cheese. As soon as we walked in, no one came to seat us. I saw manager telling waiter to seat us and he had a weird attitude about it and then saw I didn’t like the enchiladas because I placed the plate towards the edge of the table and he came to ask for refills but didn’t acknowledge the fact that I didn’t touch my meal the entire time my family was eating. Their food was mid at best and everyone just picked at their plates. He came to give us the check and he still didn’t ask if I liked the food or what was wrong so I had to mention to him and he said absolutely nothing. Walked away and got manager. I told her about his weird attitude & the food and she did offer to replace but everyone had already eaten so I said no thanks. Then when the waiter came back, Mr. Personality..he grabbed the plate and said “sorry, I didn’t make it” and rolled his eyes and had the weirdest confrontational attitude. When I told the manager as we were leaving, she didn’t offer to comp the meal or do anything.. she just said “ok yes ma’am” and that’s it. The oddest interaction I’ve had at any restaurant. Disgusting.
