Tip: Expect large portions and fast service. Consider splitting a dish, especially the country fried chicken breakfast plate, as it's more than enough for two.

Thank you George. The history lesson and great conversation this morning was just what Jesus ordered. Ἅγιον Ὄρος, Ágion Óros, meaning “Holy Mountain”).
Oh my God oh my God this place was great it was so great oh yeah oh I felt like i was in Germany oh the food here is great i love the building it's like it's like V-shaped upside down anyway the service was really good and i loved Coca-Cola and my dinner was really good Steak steak steak
Billy Whiteshoes Johnson told me there's 2 things to remember about Freemont..#1 "If you hungry you get to the Country Way Restaurant and you get anything that got pork in it..#2 Always order twice what you want cuss now you got dinner already made" Then he said "That's all you need to know about Freemont" The pork sandwich was Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
First time I've been here in years but grew up coming here whenever I was in Fremont with my grandparents; one of my favorite memories with my grandpa, he loved this place! Usually I would always get the biscuits and gravy but instead I switched it up with the waffles today. Absolutely amazing food and the staff is super sweet just like always! It was good to relive a childhood memory...
This is one of the best diners at Fremont for breakfast or brunch. We were here on a Saturday morning at 9 and it was full. The hostess was very friendly and jovial. I took a mushroom omelette with Monterey jack cheese on top. The hostess gave us house made spicy sauce and also gave me some jalapenos for extra spice! Bonus! Unlimited coffee as usual. The place was also very ambient and the staff was on top of their game and quick to clear tables and serve coffee Will definitely be going back here.
This restaurant is honestly one of the best American style restaurants in Fremont. The signature roof and ambience at this restaurant distinguishes it from other restaurants. So does the staff at the restaurant. Their service goes above and beyond, and they constantly come around to see how you meal is. I highly recommend this restaurant not only because of the food, but also because of the servers and ambience at the restaurant. Tip: If you are used to eating early, Country Way usually has early dinner specials which offer the same dinner at a lower cost
Texas style pork steak is my favorite! French toast combo is also good.
Good old regular diner. Pleasant waitresses, old timey atmosphere, big portions of good food. I had the hot open turkey diner, the beef soup was excellent. My wife had eggs and french toast. The french toast was awesome! I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in Fremont.
Oh. My. Goodness! This homey restaurant is absolutely phenomenal!! I can’t say how delicious the food was enough! We got the chili omelet and farmers breakfast 🤤 the chili itself was the best we’ve ever had, the service was exceptional and the coffee was so good too! Lol if you love mimosas you won’t be disappointed! They don’t skimp on the champagne 🤪 it was and is the best breakfast/brunch spot! If this spot was closer to where we lived we’d be there every weekend!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And sorry we don’t have any photos, we didn’t hesitate to stuff ourselves after the first bite lol
Have been eating breakfast at the Country Way for over 35 years. They are always fast and reliable with traditional breakfast fare. I use to stop in once a week or so and they ladies knew my name, order, food adjustments and drink order. Even if its been a month or more, the servers always spend a little extra time at the table chopping it up. While the exterior and interior are a bit dated, this is a landmark in Fremont and is a favorite by both locals and visitors alike. BUT, the weekends do get PACKED so expect a wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
When it's there, the carnitas omelet is amazing. Otherwise I always go for the country fried steak.
Great portion and great American dinner classic food. Loved the rustic atmosphere to, and lovely people serving you. Will definitely come back.
The pork chops I always order were delicious, and the service was prompt. The busboy was excellent and quickly provided an extra napkin when I requested one. I tipped him! 😀
This place has been around since I was a kid. The food and service is consistently excellent. If you like salsa, ask for it. It's homemade.
I had breakfast at Country Way, and it was delicious. Everything was prepared and cooked to perfection when I ordered the French toast with eggs and sausage. The sausage was delicious, the French toast was fluffy and golden, and the eggs were prepared just the way I requested. Easy, timeless, and fulfilling. A good place for a substantial breakfast, no doubt.
French toast was delicious! It's more like a flat pancake than French toast but I really liked the flavor and powdered sugar. The spaghetti and ravioli were quite bland - I had to add salt and cheese. I wanted mashed potatoes around 12 noon but was told they were out until 2 PM. The soup of the day was interesting and I'm still not sure what it is. Chicken and lentils? The restaurant's aesthetics look really nice. Reminds me of a log cabin.
Read some amazing reviews on this place and decided to come with a group of friends for an early dinner. The food, great. The portions, amazing. The wait staff, exceptional. She was super nice and made sure our table was well attended to. She gave great recommendations and made them knowing all of our dietary restrictions. Hidden gem, definitely will go again for the French toast.
What a great find! Tucked away in the middle of strip mall suburbia was Country way. An old school A framed diner filled with dark wood and kitschy touches everywhere. Went during the post lunch, pre dinner slow time. Staff was very nice. The type that call you "honey" not to be ironic, but because they call everyone that. They do all day breakfast! Portions are hearty and very tasty. Gonna go back soon for breakfast. Give them a try if you are in the neighborhood.
Well I've been going here for the Past 28+ years just for the Steak 🥩 and 🍳 Eggs with Potatoes 🥔 Definitely not for anyone trying to Lose Weight because they Give you very Large Portions!! Think of Texas Portions in California!! Quality is number one for the Steak and if you know the Owner like I do the cup of Chicken 🍗 and Rice 🍚 soup is on the House!!! Old Fashion style breakfast, 🍳 🥞 🥩🥔 Definitely in my Top 5 Breakfast spots!
Food was very good, portion size filling. Only complaint was coffee cup size, very stingy served in plastic cup that was more the size of a tea cup rather than a glass coffee mug that held the heat.
A place you can call home. Food is very good service is always exceptional. Me and my husband have been going here for 13 years now.
I was brought here for Saturday brunch with friends. This is a very authentic American style restaurant, from outdoor and interior design to their food. Large portion, complimentary coffee, friendly staff, bunch of choices. My friend had corned beef hash. I tried the rib-eye steak in breakfast style, which was so juicy and tender! They have a parking lot around the building, but still to prepare spending time to look for a space during the peak hours.
Breakfast here is delicious, and the portions are huge! I ordered the special boneless pork chops that come with eggs, potatoes and toast, and my mom ordered the French toast combo that comes with eggs and choice of meat, she got the slice of ham. Coffee was always poured to the top. Service was excellent! Always a great place to come if you’re hungry and wanting great food!
We’ve been coming to this place for many years, but have not been since COVID. We came at an off time around 3:30, very late lunch! The restaurant only had two other couples in the restaurant so we had the place to ourselves. I was craving breakfast so I had the boneless pork chops and 2 eggs snd the hubby had the Coulet steak and eggs! The good never disappoints and the service is fantastic whether they have 100 guests dining or 5 guests in their spacious restaurant. This place has been around forever and is a Fremont gem!! Traditional old school diner food. You can sit at the counter if you’re by yourself or you can sit in the spacious booths or tables!
A relic of bygone times. The menu has not changed burning your whole life! Excellent coffee shop meals that you and your great-grandmother can enjoy together. Huge portions, so you get at least two meals in one. I forgot to take a picture of my tri-tip dinner with country fried potatoes. All this and a big open parking lot.
This is and has been my favorite restaurant in Fremont since I was 14. As an adult I am rarely awake in time to get a meal in before 3pm, but trust me their french dip is the absolute best in all of the bay area, and the days I can make it in to get one, are the best days. No one compares and trust me I've been looking. That sandwich stays in my mind rent free .
Went for the first time this past Saturday, with my twin brother Paul and his friend Carl. This restaurant reminds me of black bear diner or Cracker Barrel Only this restaurant came first. Good country, eating generous portions, family atmosphere. Lots of fun if you haven't tried it do. If you are a regular in Fremont, good for you. I was so hungry, i didn't take any pictures. However, I had the waffle with two strips of bacon and scrambled eggs. And yes they have sugar free syrup.
I eat most of my 🥞. They serve big plates of food. I got my meal fast. They were crowded. Waitress was nice. The place had a dinner feel to it. It's older then Denny's catacorner from here.Like it was here first. From all the hustle. I had to tip them. I had to put my spoon cross my coffee cup. To keep them from filling it. Lol The steaks were huge or thick. It had the grit grill marks on it. Waitress carried around big plates.
We haven’t left the restaurant and I’m writing this review. It’s been years since I’ve come to Country Way and I’m so glad we came here. It feels like stepping into a piece of Fremont’s history, yet the restaurant looks so well maintained. We got the linguicia omelette, country fried steak, and French toast. Everything tasted so good! The French toast was unlike others we’ve had—it’s like a happy combo of pancakes and French toast. Would recommend getting extra crispy potatoes. Service was quick and so friendly! Thanks Country Way!
Best brekfast cafe in Fremont. Jina was very kind, helpful, and funny. I always get the boneless porkchops with 2 eggs. Comes with hash brown and bread. Get sourdough. Portions are nice but Im pretty sure the meat has been shrinkflated over the years...feels like the porkchop used to be thicker. No matter what you pick, the food will be delicious. I came on a weekday at noon so there was plenty of seating, but weekends and holidays are usually packed.
I ordered a Mushroom omelet with apple sausage and it was phenomenal. The portion was massive, I couldn't finish it and got it to go. The decor was classic diner with a slightly modern twist. Our waitress was hilarious, the food arrived quickly and was reasonably priced, I wouldn't have traded th8s dining experience for anything.
This place is on the map, it's amazing. Walking in the door is like walking in a time machine, they've got an OG cash register that looks like it's ripped straight from the 60s. Everyone is dressed professionally and the decor is incredibly welcoming and warm. Reasonable wait, and great quick service. The food is great, reasonably priced, amazing flavor, and the portions will make you a big back for sure. Definitely going to come back, might even become a Saturday morning tradition.
Stopped by Country Way for breakfast and it hit the spot. I ordered the French toast with sausage and eggs, and everything was well made and cooked just right. The French toast was golden and fluffy, the sausage had great flavor, and the eggs were done exactly how I asked. Simple, classic, and satisfying. Definitely a solid spot for a hearty breakfast.
I've of the best places in town for breakfast. Contrary to what others say, this place is definitely open for business. I am here on Mother's Day 5/11/25 enjoying their ribeye omelette that is superb! Large portion for $20 and worth every penny. Service is first rate and they have their own parking lot. Atmosphere is rustic but you can have informal meetings and the place is very family friendly. They will test you like family. Definitely highly recommended.
Diner breakfast for dinner was exactly what I was looking for! French Toast is da bomb! Batter is so tasty and bread is perfect: fresh, body, taste, and thickness. Powdered sugar is plentiful. Butter and maple syrup are almost not even needed. I ham & over easy eggs. Perfect and hit the spot. Ham is old fashioned cured...just sweet and salty enough. Eggs were fresh I didn't use ketchup or hot sauce!
This place is awesome. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed. I ordered the triple turkey club sandwich and is one of the best sandwiches ever had. Food didn’t long at all to be served. Literally within 10 minutes. I had my food on my table. The lady who took care of me was very nice and attentive. I think I finally find a perfect place where I can just, have different meals from A to Z on the menu. I’ve been traveling all day. I was so hungry. I don’t feel I was almost done. Is when I decided to take this picture but the actual presentation was really nice.
Really love the old-fashioned style of the design of the restaurant. It seems that they decided to not move forward with renovating it that revolves around latest technologies, but it’s really worth coming here. I dine here a few times already and wow…the service is really fast. I like how they can serve us coffee without having to pay extra. The portion sizes are huge that I can’t even finish everything. Prices are reasonable also. It’s no wonder why there are many reward frames on the walls!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Country Way for breakfast and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. The cozy and inviting atmosphere immediately set the tone for a relaxing morning. We decided to try the French toast combo and the farmer’s breakfast, and we were not disappointed. The French toast was perfectly cooked and it was heavenly. The farmer’s breakfast was a hearty and satisfying option and each bite was a delight. What truly stood out, besides the fantastic food, was the impeccable service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. They were more than willing to answer any questions we had about the menu and even provided some great recommendations. The cozy ambience added to the overall experience, making it a place where you can truly unwind and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. From the warm lighting to the comfortable seating, every detail was thoughtfully considered. Overall, Country Way exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere made for a breakfast outing that I won't soon forget. Whether you're looking for a relaxing morning meal or a place to catch up with friends, Country Way is definitely worth a visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu offerings. Highly recommended!
If you are looking for a traditional American breakfast experience, this is it! And boy, great taste, a large menu, and, yes, great value! Their French toast is near the top I've ever had. And massive! Check out the photos below. They are super fast and super nice. The decor and atmosphere is just icing in the cake. Go there with an appetite and you will not be disappointed.
Portions are still pretty big, so expect to come with an appetite or your leaving with a to go bag. This place has a quaint atmosphere. The only negative thing i have to say is that even though this place wasn't that busy, the cooks are some how always in a rush. And for that my son had a few pieces of egg shell in his omelette.
Very good place for breakfast and brunch. Traditional American dishes. Friendly staff and reasonable prices
Solid, but weird, place. Straight out of 1965 America. Everyone who works there is exceedingly nice, kind and attentive but they're also straight out of a David Lynch movie. However, the eggs, the hash browns, the toast and the coffee were right on cue. All good, classic diner.
The "Country Way" Experience * Enormous Portions: The most consistent feedback is the sheer volume of food. Reviewers frequently advise to "come hungry" as breakfast plates often include "a potato field" and omelets stacked high with toast. * Menu Highlights: * French Toast: Described as "the best ever," it is thin, battered, and often compared to a churro in flavor. * Country Gravy: A specialty made with bacon and bacon drippings (often sold out by the weekend). * Country Way Special Omelet: Loaded with ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese. * Ted’s Special Burger: Noted for being juicy and served on a sour roll with excellent steak fries. * Speedy Service: Despite the crowds, the kitchen is famously fast, often delivering hot meals within 10 minutes of ordering. * Atmosphere: The restaurant features a rustic, "old-school" log cabin interior that has remained largely unchanged for decades, providing a homey, nostalgic vibe. Practical Tips * Sharing is Recommended: Due to the portion sizes, many guests suggest sharing a plate to avoid excessive leftovers. * Weekday Visits: To avoid the massive weekend crowds and potential "hit or miss" food quality during peak rushes, visit on a non-busy weekday. * Hours of Operation: As of recent years, the restaurant has transitioned away from dinner service and typically closes at 3:00 PM.
Ladies and Gentlemen, bring your appetite going to Country Way Restaurant. This is my first time here. Although I will need to rate this place with 4 stars. I will tell you why, but first here are some details. So this place has the feeling of "je ne sais quia" but with a somewhat of a country lodge setting nestled in the East Bay. The staff very professional and attentive. They were hustling and working. There menu items where plentiful for breakfast with little lunch or dinner items. The price point is a but high, but when I got my Dinner breakfast platter and cup of Chili. I can see why the price point is higher, but then the amount of food provided correlates to the price. I will have to give this rating 4 stars. The food and staff were great. However, they didn't honor any military, Veterans with a discount. The wait staff did thank me for my service.
Went on a Monday morning. Not very busy and we were sat immediately. Very good service, soon as we sat down coffee was offered and drink orders taken. I ordered chicken fried steak. I always order that for breakfast at various places. It’s my go to breakfast. This place was good the eggs over medium and country potatoes. The steak itself was good not the best and not the worse either. I would go back to try other stuff. Overall it was 40$ for two plates a coffe and a coke.
Only thing I did not like was the French toast it tasted more like pancakes to me and it gave me the pancake look as well I am a big French toast lover so when it comes to French toast it means so much that it's made the right way. The steak that we had in the Burger was delicious fresh juicy made just right. The vegetables were amazing soft battery & on point. this was our 2nd time there the service was still amazing the atmosphere is wonderful and gave a very welcoming vibe. We absolutely loved pretty much everything I did not however like my french toast but the rest of our food made up for that.
Place and menu look the same from over 20 years ago. Service was good. Chicken and Waffles were excellent
The family all enjoyed the French toast that we had heard so much about. I had to benchmark the pancakes, which were tasty but fairly standard fare. The French toast is very different (but good), and the source of much hypothesizing of how it is made. Pancake turned into French toast? Crustless bread?
The first time I came here was in 2021 and the food was amazing. It was during the pandemic so we were seated outside. I returned 2 years later (2023) and it did not disappoint. We arrived close to 10 am, no wait time, we took a couple mins to look at the menu and ordered our food. We had the chili omelet, French toast combo, and biscuits and gravy. We were so amazed that our food was brought out less than 10 mins after we ordered. Everything was very tasty, we will definitely visit again. Its worth the drive from San Jose.
Place was pretty good. We had the roast beef that my husband enjoyed. I didn't like it at all. To me it had a funny taste. I asked the server about the liver n onions and she said it was a popular item so I ordered it. It was very tender and was one of the best that I have had at a restaurant. . Overall it was okay. I will go back to try the breakfast.
Ok first of all I love the food here. Especially the omelette’s. They are excellent. Speaking of the food they are pretty decent portions and can be quite filling. Next, the service has mostly been good out of the multiple times I have been here. Not to mention service here is pretty fast so you won’t be waiting long time for the food to come out. However, one thing is this place can get super crowded at peak times. Expect there to some waiting at the times. Finally the ambiance, is old fashioned but in a good way. It’s a unique look. They even have an old cash register and they bring you the bill on a handwritten notepad. Now some may think they need to embrace technology and get an upgrade but I feel that it goes well with the theme of the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back as this will now be one of my regular spots. P.S. they need to add more/better choices for desserts.
Love how cute this place is, reminds me of an old cabin. The service here is above anywhere I’ve been! Before I knew it, my coffee was being refilled before I was able to drink half of it. Portions are huge, but the food lacks flavor. My husband got the chicken and waffles, which looked amazing, however, the chicken had no seasoning so it was a little disappointing. Other than that, we really enjoyed eating here.
Went when they were almost closing; they let us in but rushed us a lot. The waiting staff here is not friendly at all. Could be more customer friendly. Vegetarian options are almost nil.
I’m so disappointed in the way I was handled today. I have been coming to this establishment for over 15 years and the way I was treated today was unacceptable. To make a long story short: I was coming to pickup my to-go order and the older lady with blonde haircut was helping someone. After she was done, she helped someone else when I technically was next. After she helped another person before me, I decided to say something because I was being ignored. Her response was not one that I expected especially when I did not come at her wrong. She just assumed I was standing there. As someone in customer service, shouldn’t you inquire? Anyways, I told her she didn't have to assume but just simply ask. Then this man that had nothing to do with the situation, decided to give his input. That then started something else. The owner decided to try to deescalate the situation but at that point I just wanted to get my order and leave. All the meanwhile, the older lady and the man is talking about the situation incorrectly as if I did something wrong in front of me. This whole situation reeked of something of IYKYK. I just can’t believe the approach she took today. It left the most bitter taste in my mouth. And sad to say, I will not be visiting again. Not that it matters to them, but at the end of the day. It does because all money spend the same.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We visited hoping to try their eggs Benedict, but unfortunately, it's no longer on the menu. I ordered the chili omelette and steak omelette, but both lacked flavor and didn’t live up to expectations. The servers brought the bill before we finished our food
Wow!!! What happened to the cook?? Some things should never change. Like my boneless pork chop with cubed fried potatoes. I haven't been to County Way in 4 years due to moving out of the area. Well 30 minutes down the road to be honest. But I recently moved back to Newark and went back to Country Way for that amazing breakfast I loved with my family on Sunday Mornings. One of their best chefs has left the building and replaced him with some big muscular military looking cutie pie, that doesn't like seasoning, salt, and spices for flavor. The pork chop I used to get was tender flavorful, juicy and no grill marks but crispy edges from being fried on the grill. I was disappointed in the flavorless processed frozen pre-grill marked pork chop 🥩 with whole sliced 🍠 potatoes. My boneless pork chop was dry and tough. I could bend away parts of the formed pork patty like taped strips of meat put together. Then they changed the cubed seasoned crispy fried potatoes and tried to use full sliced round 🌕 Au Gratin potatoes as fried potatoes. This place used to be full of cars 24 hours of the day it seemed and I pass by Country Way getting on the freeway daily and the parking lot is empty most times with very few cars and that's another big telltale sign that others have left too. I wish you all the best!
If I could give them zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible food & service now. I don't know what happened to this place but apparently they ran out of gas and decided to go down hill straight towards the gutter. The server Katie has an awful attitude, maybe she needs to find a new career. I'm not going to waste my time explaining the details but just be warned, this place is no good. Fremont had so many other restaurants with such good food and service. Don't spend your money here.
Ordered country fried steak and French toast. The "steak" was just a giant ground beef patty. French toast had no bread/toast. It was a pancake made French toast style. The atmosphere was fine, staff are nice and friendly. It's just so hard to overlook how much our expectations were not met in regards to the food. I will not go again. I would avoid it.
I was so excited to try this restaurant, but ugly experience!!! since we open the door grumpy old asian lady screamed ‘for how many?’ Without even say hi, how welcoming! Same lady served to our table. She never smiled, barely check on us during the meal. Server’s poor attitude made my lunch horrible!! Hope her lack of respect to your customers helps to keep her job.
Waitress was the rudest I’ve ever had food was ok but even if it was great I’d never be back prices are a little high too
Food was disgusting. The chicken fried steak was charred and dry. The linguica had no flavor. Eggs were basic. Still hade charred burned taste in my mouth almost 2 hours later. Will never go again. Only reason I didnt go back to complain is because work bought my food. Wouldnt even feed this to my dog

Country Way: A Taste of Fremont's Heart and Soul
You know, there are some spots in town that just feel like home, places woven into the fabric of Fremont’s history. For me, and clearly for many others, Country Way is exactly that kind of place. Forget the new kids on the block; this diner has been serving up comfort and good cheer for what feels like forever, long before many of its modern counterparts even dreamed of opening their doors.Stepping inside, you’re immediately hit with that classic diner vibe – busy, bustling, but in the best p...
Fremont's Classic Diner: Carl's Jr. Serves Up Comfort
Down a familiar stretch in Fremont, there’s a spot called Carl's Jr. that, despite its name, serves up a hearty slice of Americana, far removed from your typical fast-food joint. For many locals, it’s not just a restaurant; it’s a cherished landmark, a place woven into the fabric of their lives for well over a decade, some even since childhood.Stepping inside is like a warm embrace from a bygone era. Folks describe it as a “relic of bygone times” or an “old cabin,” with a menu that seems deli
