The place is busy on the weekends, so you can only go with their weekend set (same menu for everyone). You will need to wait a little bit before they start serving food because everyone is let in around the same time. It doesn’t affect the overall experience, but just something for you to keep in mind! We are a group of 7 and we had a blast! There are a big collections of hats you can choose from. The staff were very accommodating with our requests (refilling tea, taking photos etc) even though they were super busy. I love their scone & the mushroom pastry!

This review is long overdue. I can't say enough about the staff, quality of the tea plates and the fabulous scones. It's so touching to have staff remember us and treat us like family. Charming decor and unique retail space. We've thoroughly enjoyed every visit.

Always a great experience! The teas are fun to try out and they have hats you can borrow to up the fun factor. My only complaint is their phone rings a lot and they’re so busy with customers they don’t pick it up so it rings for minutes. That may only be an issue for tables near their phone though.

My friends and I all got the least expensive plate, which was the tea sandwiches($26 per person). It was actually very filling! I love to come here and do the “tea experience”. Will come again!

The holiday tea service here was amazing. A vintage tea house with British style tea service.

Me and my gal pals had such a comfortable experience. We didn't feel rushed. It was a pleasant fun space. The Teas were delicious! We got 4 pots, 4 different teas. They so many to choose from. Then we finished with a bottle of peach sparking wine. The cookies, desserts and tea sandwiches were all so amazing. Only question I have is if we can purchase the tea pots the tea was served in. The tea sets were gorgeous and cute!

Very nice experience. The tea room is reservation only, so you'll need to book in advance. The Saturday menu is set for the Victorian tea, which was what we were interested in, so that worked out. They provided us with two teas along with the food. They also promptly gave us refills on the teas when we drank it all. Staff was friendly, and it was a quiet environment, perfect for a small meet up with friends. Just outside the tea room is a large selection of tea pots and cups to purchase if you'd like to take some home. It is not exactly an authentic English tea experience, but I expected that considering the location, and the fact that high tea/afternoon tea isn't really popular in the US. It's still a nice place to go to, and one of the few places that provide the service here.

Wonderful experience!! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious and fresh when it was brought to us and the teas were fantastic. I enjoyed the butterscotch tea so much we brought a bag home with us. There are plenty of options just make sure to make a reservation.

This has become our favorite place for Tea and snacking. Very cozy and soulful. The staff is very friendly. And of course tea and food are amazing. Pastries are baked freshly to perfection. There are plenty of small vintage shops around for a weekend/holiday stroll. Plenty of street and lot parking around.

Though there are reservations required to attend the tea session, I made mine the day of and it was worth it. The whole session is about an hour and a half and they provide a beautiful experience. They even have their own tea blend that was so good I bought a bag afterwards. In regard to pricing, it is warranted since there is an experience, unlimited tea, and delicious food. Understandably, there is a flat price for all attendees regardless of age since the experience is the same for all participants. There are three “courses” of snacks provided excluding the tea pots initially brought to the table. All the treats were so filling we had to get a box to go. This was overall an amazing experience! A pillar of the Niles community.

Cute tea experience. Don't chug your champagne at the start( you only get one;)). Some of the food was super good. The others.. good but a hawaiian roll with turkey and jelly? I can make that at home and spare myself the $50++ haha. Still a fun experience. Didn't feel rushed at all and the staff were very nice and respectful

Most recently went for their Halloween Monster Mash tea. It was wickedly fun! Only one star down just because it was hard to get the server's attention. It felt like a long time till someone poured us champagne or cider for the table. I do understand this was a special event with more patrons than usual and not much room or servers for it. The scones, tea, sandwiches, atmosphere, and service was great overall!

The indoor aesthetic is really something special here! It's a real shame how prices for actually dining in here are outrageous, specifically if you're a group of 3 or more people. In a party of 4, $180 and I left thirsty... Still worth checking out though if you love the vibes.

They had three course meals with hibiscus tea. It was pretty good. They serve only one time. No refills. It is very pricey. They just have sandwiches.

Funky, charming, gracious. Victorian teas in a mileau of Victorian clutter. Tea shops classically feature a small selection of kitch, from crockery to tea towls to decorative utensils with smarmey sayings. Tyme for Tea, by contrast offers a veritable smorgasbord of antiques, collectibles and yes, kitch. Gracious and accommodating staff, and a medallion tea with glass of Champers! Tea sandwiches slightly disappointing, but what the hey!

M
Mary Kendall

I enjoy the large selection of tea. The Victorian Tea is my favorite. The scone, sandwiches and desserts are fresh and yummy. They always set the tables with a nice variety of tea cups and tea pots. They have space between tables so you are not squished together. Very comfortable.

Went for the Christmas tea and enjoyed it. The food and tea were lovely. I do think there are a couple ways that the ambiance could be elevated to match the price. The prep area is in full view—if it can’t be hidden, the industrial plastic tubs holding the prepped food and cleaning chemicals, like the bottle of 409, should not be visible to customers. The cold drinks are served from dirty-ish plastic pitchers, which felt a little bit like school lunch. Just think about the details to bump up the elegance.

We had a lovely afternoon. The service was wonderful. We had a private room. The large dining room seemed to be very noisy. There were many little shops inside the tea room with vintage items for sale. The little shops were in alcoves outside the large dining room. There was a restroom at the end of the The large dining room. The mismatch China was charming and the food they served was was prepared at the tea room and was very delicious. They flavored their own sparkling wine. We had peach. It was so good. I would love to go back the shops around the tea shop on the same block mini vintage stores. Very fun for walking around and shopping.

Beautiful and nostalgic tea house filled with charming vintage elements. The atmosphere is calm and elegant, with every detail—from the teapots to the décor—evoking a sense of timeless grace. A perfect spot to slow down, sip tea, and soak in the tranquil ambiance.

It appears that they are not having an option for tea time and everyone gets there highest tea set. It starts with the house tea unless you ask otherwise. I would ask for a different tea because the one they served was lukewarm. It is their house tea but I was not a fan. The scone came next and it was the beat thing we ate there. It was warm with a crusted exterior and flaky soft center. We got a second pot of tea and chose earl grey which was standard and good. The savory course was freshly made but my friend had an issue with too many cheese items as her allergies were not assessed prior. The sweet course at the end was standard petit fours and shortbread cookies. I was not a fan of the cheesecake bites. I would probably not come back.

The teas taste good, if only there is a way to take out. The finger sandwiches are filling and the cheesy garlic bread taste the best. The atmosphere is confined and crowded and dimmed in the middle (could be my eye sight switching from daylight to store light) Tea brewing for 6 selections took a bit of time.

I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but I feel like this really needed to be addressed. Hopefully the owners will read this and use it as constructive criticism. I brought my niece, who's from England, for her birthday surprise lunch. I had high hopes and was very disappointed and regretful that I brought her there for a "high tea" experience. It was nothing like I expected. I've been to a couple other high tea places and this place doesn't do justice, especially for paying $50+ per person. I have come to Tyme for Tea a few times in the past and even had my baby sprinkle here six years ago. It remember it being a lot nicer back then. I don't know if the owners changed or they just don't upkeep the place, but it looked so tacky now. The tablecloths, the decor, the sugar packets, the cutlery, everything. The decor looked old and dirty. The food was subpar. The sandwiches were small and not great tasting. I had 3 girls who are not big eaters with me, otherwise it would not have been enough food. We asked for no meat and there was only one set of sandwiches, one set of small artichoke tarts and one set of cheese toast. They definitely need a larger variety of sandwiches and more choices for non-meat eaters. The service wasn't great either, it took us a while to get ahold of the waiters when we needed water, sugar and napkins. One waiter came and literally spilled my daughter's full cup of tea and just said sorry and didn't even bother cleaning it, instead brought her a few paper towels and left. It was so unprofessional and rude. Overall, it was definitely not worth the money and a bad experience. I used to love this place, and would like to see it stay, but they really need to do some work on it to continue getting business. I will not be returning if things don't change.

The plastic covering the table looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Two teas were served to me - the website said my choice of tea but I couldnt choose. I had to ask for milk for my tea 2x. Overall it just felt dingy - the food was ok!

My party of 5 were new here. We were so excited! Since our party was big we were offered the two tables in the back to choose from. Little sis we know that it would effect our service. The kitchen it to the front as the items came out we were one of the last to be served. The first tea tasted great but It wasn’t steeped prior to being served. I won’t go into to many details of what went wrong with the service however I will say that for a first time it wasn’t a lovely experience. I am grateful to the staff for serving us when they could and answering our questions.

I had done tea here pre pandemic twice and it was decent but never excellent. Booked a large party for my birthday sat may 18th. We arrived promptly at 130 for our reservation. They weren't finished re setting the room from the previous sitting no problem. The front desk was not clear in telling us to check in with the server station to be seated so we were waiting an extra 15 mins to be called before talking to the server and being seated. When I called to make the reservation I asked about gluten free accommodations had to have 4 friends drop out because they have zero alternatives or accomdations for gluten free and they would still be expected to pay full price. The women on the phone literally said maybe this isn't the place for them when i said that was disappointing. For the set victorian tea they FORCE you to book as it is there only weekend option. I was fine with this however the 2 teas they give you with that are not great at all and at 55 a person you should be given a choice of at least 1 pot of tea. We ordered extra pots because the House tea a strawberry kiwi flavor was undrinkable and they could have just not given it to us. The other tea a Carmel also not great but some of my party found it drinkable. The room was half empty our entire seating and we watched them turn away many people. Even though it was hardly busy and it didnt seem uhderstaffed. The wait staff ignored us most of the time. They didn't properly explain the menu. We had to ask 4 times for things like water for the table cream , sugar and the extra pots we ordered of the flavors we actually wanted. I asked for honey for my tea they brought me a literal spoon full. I also told MAXINE who booked my reservation reservation that it was for my birthday she said they would provide a smalltable for my gifts. No table was provided and based on the indifference of the staff we chose to not even bring it up. The food was so so. Only 2 choices of sandwiches the pinwheels fillings were extremely inconsistent from pastry to pastry. You only get 2 types of sandwiches one of the savories was literally melted cheese on a slice of baguette which felt lazy given the price. The cookies were bland and under baked. And the cheese cake bites were miniscule. I paid the same price for the mermaid tea at son and garden 2 days prior and had nicer better and attentive service and more food. The people running this place really need to adapt to times. Many people have dietary restrictions and allergies and majority of other tea places in the bay area can accomdate its not that hard. Out bill was almost 600 dollars and it was NOT worth it. To add several of the people with me had done tea here previously one during the pandemic and noted how bad the service was in comparison to this time.

We were served two black teas that we didn't really care for, and hadn't chosen. I had to request creamer, but instead of cream it was just milk. I had to request Splenda, instead of the sugar which was on the table. The first thing served was a small scone, which wasn't bad but I expected more? After a really long wait we were brought a plate of savory bites, again not bad but not really "tea" service. The cucumber sandwich was kind of stale. The desserts were lovely, mostly. The petit fours were like little Debbie cakes -meh. I've been to tea in many tearooms, from London to New York, to New Delhi; you expect certain things. The food was *scanty*; tea should be generous, not stingy. The tea things should have all come at once, not piecemeal when we had to ask. Tea, cream, sweeteners, and a tea strainer for leaves, (which we never got). Despite there being only four occupied tables in a mostly empty restaurant, the service was super slow. Really tacky plastic covered the tables - gross. It was really a disappointment, especially for the price! Really not worth it. There are WAY better just across the bridge!

I went there a few weeks ago at Tyme tea and co. Before you think or plan to go to Tyme tea and co I want you to heavily consider thinking again (and just know I usually not a person who likes posting bad reviews and I am all about spreading positivity. Just looking at the fact they have a 4.4 star review just pains me because that is just way to overrated). 1. the overall atmosphere was just very bad. It is very loud and noisy. the decorations and everything was a bit off and very isn a way messy. 2. The Prices!: The food was so overpriced. The cheapest combination they had was like around 40 dollars per person and the amount of food that came with that order was insanely little, each person got 1 tiny sandwich, like 3 very small pastries that tasted so-so, and a small pot of tea ( keep in mind that the pastries were tike tiny and the small pot of tea was also very mid sized, but the tea was actually pretty good). and we spent around $200 total. 3. The worst part was the service. When two of my friends left to go use the restroom a waiter came by and asked if we need boxes for to-go, but the thing was we only finished half of our food. Then after we finished about 2/3 of our food, a waiter gave us our check and we actually didn't even ask for the check yet. Of course they didn't straight up say we would appreciate if you leave, but I feel like they did have that intention and that they were signaling that. 4. Immediately after we came back home from the store my daughter was feeling very weak and nauseous, so right now I heavily questioning the sanitary of the store. I know other people may disagree from my point of view but I am writing this on my own opinion of the store. So people who are considering dining at this store please consider all of the points I listed above. Even though I am very upset with my experience this time with Tyme for tea and co, I feel that this store has a lot of potential and hopefully in the future I can write a positive review of Tyme for tea and co!

It's over priced and underwhelming compared to similar business in the Bay Area. The food, service, and decor were mediocre. $45 plus tip is a lot for what we got.

The servers were prompt to bring 2 Flav I red teas. I had to ask for English breakfast tea. Did not get to look at a menu. I guess the menu is set for Saturday as well as price. Tip was added to bill as we were a large group of 5! I liked most of the food. Desserts were disappointing but I think it was way overpriced for the level of service and attention we were given.

Was not informed that the gluten free version would be so different from the regular (the salad is the whole "afternoon tea") that you will really be missing out on the experience. The portion size is also very stingy for the price. Tea was good though. Hard to find any tea places where the actual tea does not taste like water anymore.

I don’t know what happened to this place. Making a reservation was difficult and took several days to receive an email response that just said “ok” When we arrived we were the only people there and the woman at the counter (who I believe is the owner) asked for our reservations and I almost laughed… yes bc it’s packed in here right? Decor is outdated and cheap, looks like someone decorated for a prom or child’s birthday party. Plastic tablecloths. Waiters had rat tails and full sleeve tattoos. Service took forever but food was clearly not made on site or even made that same day. Everything tasted frozen or stale. No more clotted cream, sugar came in old paper packets that had been wet and dried several times like a diner. When I asked what happened to all the little extra details, I was told “we stopped doing that during Covid” So y’all dropped your food quality because of something that happened 4 years ago? I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. Owner should retire or sell to someone who actually cares about tea!

H
Hannah Libby

The place overall was very pretty and the people were very nice. We had a reservation for 3 people and when we arrived, they told us they had overbooked and put us in the “VIP” section. This section was just their back room with their random things for sale. We were completely away from the main dining area where all the holiday decorations and activities were happening. They told us we had a visitor, it was Santa Claus coming in through their back door where we were sitting. Then he proceeded to walk into the main dining area where they started playing loud Christmas music as Santa walked in. We felt so dejected in the back room. They kept rubbing it that we were “VIP’s” when they knew very well they just gave us probably the worst spot in the building. My suggestion is that if this is truly a VIP section that it should have some flare like the main dining area and not be what felt more like a break room spot for the employees.
