We came here for our one year wedding anniversary, and were completely blown away. After making reservations, we arrived 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. Waiter was super friendly and helpful, the menu had the perfect amount of items, not too many. The filet and lamb chops were so incredibly out of this world, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Drinks were perfect (and probably one of the best mojitos I’ve ever had) and the desert was just fantastic. I’d definitely recommend the cheesecake. Make sure you book a reservation before hand!

Had an incredible dinner at 1875: The Steakhouse in French Lick. The atmosphere is classy but still comfortable—think fine dining without feeling like you’ve got to check your personality at the door. Open views and a beautiful look out toward the gardens and historic Pluto Spring really set the tone for a great night. I went with the filet, and it was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and basically melted in my mouth like it knew its job. The sides and appetizers came out swinging too—every bite was worth it. And if you’re the type who “doesn’t have room for dessert,” make room. The bananas foster was a showstopper, and the flourless chocolate cake? Pure magic—rich, decadent, and somehow still light enough to make you think you’ve got room for just one more bite. Wine list? Excellent. Service? Flawless… attentive without hovering. They know how to let you enjoy the experience at your own pace. If you’re in French Lick and looking for an unforgettable meal, this is the place. Just come hungry… you’ll be glad you did.

We were warmly greeted and escorted to a comfy table. Our server Jared was extremely professional and friendly throughout our visit. He told us a brief history of the place and described the menu. The taste of tomato juice was a special touch. We ordered filets, baked potatoes and a wedge salad. The filets were prepared perfectly and they were tender and delicious. We ordered red wine which was an excellent compliment to the dinner. The experience was memorable because of the beautiful setting, the exceptional service and the delicious entrees.

Fantastic place for an anniversary celebration!! The Mrs and I decided to spend our anniversary at French Lick and what better place to eat than The Steakhouse. We opted for the colossal shrimp cocktail for a starter. It was wonderful. I then chose the New York Strip which was perfectly cooked, tender and soo flavorful!! The Mrs had the pasta with wild mushrooms, which she enjoyed. Our meal was topped off with dipped strawberries for our dessert!!!

A very nice place. We were seated on the Wine Room, which is a more intimate and private location in the restaurant. The Wagyu Tomahawk was divine, as were the sides and wine selections. We will definitely visit again.

Another trip to the 1875 Steak House. Once again, the steaks my husband and I had were incredible! Cooked to perfection! Everything we had, from the wedge salad, French onion soup, bread, mashed potatoes, corn dish, butter trio, and bunt cake, was absolutely delicious! Service was outstanding!

The place was decorated for Christmas and it was beautiful! Michael got the Lobster Bisque. It could have had more lobster but the taste was wonderful. Both of us had wine. I had the pork chops with Blackberry sauce. They were cooked to perfection and so flavorful! Michael got a steak and green beans with bacon. My side was risotto! It was fantastic! We would definitely go back! JJ was our waiter and he did a great Job!

Service and food were amazing. One of the best ribeyes and brusselsprouts I have ever had.

Lovely atmosphere, rare steak perfect sou vide. Dessert cart was amazing. Woodford Reserve Manhattan was perfect. Only clunker, salmon was overcooked, but Mimi made it right and replaced with larger, thicker, perfectly cooked portion. Sides large enough to share. Corn ragout was delicious.

Had another great dinner here. The service was fantastic, I recommend asking for Mimi she's great and has served my family with care for the past 2 years. This time she was assisted my Lanie who made sure we never had an empty water glass. Oh, and Mimi also prepared an amazing bananas Forrester table side for my wife and I which she truly enjoyed. Thanks again for an amazing experience! We will definitely be returning soon.

This is a fantastic upscale steakhouse. The staff here are very attentive to all of your needs. JJ was awesome. They have an extensive wine list and the servers are really good at recommendations. The food is cooked spot on to your order. This is not a discount style chain restaurant. For folks like me it is a place to go for special occassions. If you come here it is a great opportunity for you to put on your nice clothes although I dont think they require it. It is just a really nice place.

Besides changing that red carpet out... This place is legit 1000% from every aspect...wagu tomahawk medium rare was absolutely perfect

A bit swanky, but they will tolerate cargo shorts. It's absolutely beautiful. They have pictures of the Kentucky Derby winners throughout. We got lucky and sat next to Secretariat. The service is great. Try the tomato juice. It ain't bad and the history is good. The food? Top notch. All of it. It's very reasonably priced for the quality.

When we first came here we had a gentleman trying seat us but was interrupted on telling us about the restaurant due to a hostess that kept interrupting him. After, the third interruption he took us to our seats. Our waitress greeted us and was awesome and that hostess (same hostess) tried interrupting her at our table. The waitress quickly dismissed the hostess’s interruption and redirected her in such a nice way. Overall, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, the waitress was literally the best waitress we had. Aside from the hostess thing it was a great experience.

Dinner at 1875 was one of the best meals I’ve had. The food was excellent and all high quality. We had the shrimp cocktail, which we ended up ordering two of, the filet and ribeyes, all of the sides, salads, and desserts. The 10 oz. filet was cooked flawless and could be cut with a fork. Creamed corn was a very pleasant surprise, none of us expected that would be one of our favorite sides. Service was excellent and our server made a point to keep a watchful eye on our entire experience. I think price points were on par with the quality of the meal.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the West Baden Springs Hotel and took the trolley to French Lick Springs Hotel for dinner at 1875. We were seated in the Silver room, which was gorgeous! The food was just as amazing--perfectly cooked. Our server (Marci) was so helpful with the food and drink recommendations. The 1875 Manhatten was delicious and worthy of the award! Big call out to Tom for making our anniversary memorable!

Everything is top-notch. The food is just plain amazing. If you go to French Lick resort, or even stay at the West Baden resort. Or staying in the area and want great food... then this is a must.

We had the filet it was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. Maybe a little heavy on the peppercorn, but fantastic! The cocktails were likewise perfectly crafted.

Hospitality by Leah and her service assistant Austin was exceptional. Our porterhouse was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and tasty. Garlic whipped potatoes and asparagus were spotted on and delicious. We had Korean Bison Meatballs as our starter and it’s very tasty and oh my goodness great. The only stumble was with the Cesar salad where the Parmesan crisps and the croutons were not freshly made.

W
William Slocum

Unfortunately, in the beginning we had an issue with our rack of lamb We wanted more flavor and for it to be cooked a little bit better, but the manager, the waiter Shelli, and Chef Tim went above and beyond to check on us Chef Tim created a whole new dish with a lot more flavor and a new wine reduction mushroom sauce, which was spectacular. The dessert was great, and the service was phenomenal. We will be coming back and this is the best place to eat at the resort, the prices are worth it!

Shelly and Mimi were excellent! My wife and I were in town for a late Anniversary getaway. They were both amazing just like the food! I highly recommend this place! You won’t be disappointed especially if you get Shelly and/or Mimi as servers/bartenders! A++

Stayed at the West Baden Spring Hotel and decided to try out their fine dining option. I did make reservations but I do believe you can do walk in. Food quality is good but you are expected to pay a good amount for a meal, two of us with one glass of wine, one app, two entrees and and a desert with tips was $200. The environment was pretty cool and the staff were pretty nice. It could be me don’t usually go to “fine dinning “ but i thought our server was very slow pace like it took him a bit too long to do everything. Overall a pretty good experience!

First time in, nice place with lots of nostalgia. We grabbed the wedge salad and French onion soup to start, probly the highlight of the evening. Wedge was very good with risp real bacon to complement the red onion, tomato, cucumber and homemade blue cheese dressing. The French onion was very rich in flavor, a good one. Next, 24oz ribeye and the fillet, sided with asparagus. Added shrooms and a scallop as a bonus. My gold standard is Ruth's Chris, not even close. They were ok, fillet was the better of the two. With a couple drinks we settled out at $275ish, that's allot for just a good dinner.

I really was hoping for the best in this restaurant I was waiting all day to try this place out food was excellent steak was prepared perfect the atmosphere was great loved overall experience except for my waitress she probably came to my table 3 times normally I would’ve gave this a one star review because service is number one for me but the food was extremely good and I did not want to give it a bad review hopefully next time because I will come back I get better service…🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

While staying at the French Lick Resort, we made reservations at 1875. What started as a bad experience turned around pretty quickly. The hostess was less than accommodating, we arrived 30 min early and was hoping to either get in early or possibly have a drink at the bar. The response we got was “ um well you can wait in the lobby for 30 min” when we did get set we chose the patio since it was a nice night... ( we were the only couple on the patio of a possible 10 tables) long story short don’t expect to get set early. From that point the experience drastically improved. Our waitress was fabulous, the food was great and even brought my fiancé a birthday dessert. Without a doubt the best choice for fine dining in French Lick.

Danielle Lipking

It was a little pricey for what we got. Didn't enjoy the lobster Mac, kind of runny. However, the steaks were good. Our server was fabulous! Mimi! She made us very comfortable , kept our drinks refilled, and was a very pleasent woman. We will be back because of her !

Rack of lamb excellent. Vegetarian pasta dish flavorless. Lobster bisque incredible!

I'll begin with the service. As soon I walked in I was immediately greeted and shown to my table. Along the way to the table, the host started giving me the background about the restaurant. There's a lot of history that connects with the Kentucky Derby all the way back to 1875, hence the name. The atmosphere is pretty nice. I can't give it five stars, because it's lacking that certain something that reminds you that you're not actually in a New York City steakhouse. However, it is up-to-date and very charming. My server was very attentive and gave me their local apéritif which is based in tomato juice. He made sure I knew the history behind the restaurant as well as the tomato juice. He went over the menu and made sure that I was aware of the drinks that were available. The service was very warming and attentive. The house syrah was pretty decent for a house wine. I got my usual for a steakhouse, the boneless ribeye. I also ordered the house garlic mashed potatoes and the cream spinach and artichokes. The meal came significantly quicker than I expected. However, I had got there shortly after it opened and I was one of very few tables at that particular time. The food was warm, but not quite as hot as I would expect it to have come straight from the kitchen. The appearance was appealing and the portions were were large. Now for the review of the food. The ribeye steak was slightly undercooked. I ordered medium rare, and it came more rare than medium rare. That was okay with me, as I would prefer to be a little undercooked than overcooked. This was clearly not an aged steak, as there was lots of connective tissue throughout and the steak was significantly more chewy than a ribeye should be. The mashed potatoes were pretty good. I wouldn't say there were anything out of the ordinary, but they were good old around. The creamed spinach and artichokes was very rich and creamy. I enjoyed the taste. However, like the potatoes and the steak, it wasn't quite as hot in temperature as I would have expected it to be. Not cold, just warm. Dessert options are brought out on a cart. I got the chocolate torte, as that is my general go-to dessert. I also ordered a cappuccino. Both came fairly quickly and did not disappoint. I wouldn't say the quality of the food was bad, however, given the price and the local hype, I didn't feel it was really worth it. I'm glad I tried it, but if I'm in the area again, I will pass.

It’s an expensive steakhouse. It is not the best high end steakhouse I have visited. You want to walk away saying, “that was a pricey meal, but worth every penny.” I did not feel that way here. That does not mean the food was bad, just that it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. The steak and baked potato were fine. The salad could have been better. My girlfriend did not like the shrimp cocktail. Their signature manhattan was pretty bad. Too sweet and clearly made by and for people who don’t like manhattans. I like French Lick and will be back, but won’t be going to the 1875.

1st time dining at 1875. Made a reservation on the way to French Lick. Table was ready and we were seated immediately. Atmosphere was very upscale. The famous French Lick sulphur smell was very strong the evening we were there. But never in the casino? Complementary dinner rolls were lukewarm and not as soft as you would imagine. Plating and presentation is great. 8oz sirloin had a nice crust to it. But was VERY salty. They were out of baked potatoes so we ordered the garlic mashed potatoes. I believe there was more garlic in them than potato. A very very strong garlic taste. All in all an okay dining experience. It was a place we wanted to check off our list for awhile. Will be in no hurry to go back. For the money you spend it is much better spent at one of the steakhouses in Indianapolis. Expect around $50-$60 a person for food when ordering modest, no drinks.

Went for the first time around the holidays with my work and had a wonderful experience...asked my husband to bring me for my birthday dinner and can't say the same. First, there was plenty of open tables and they sit us beside the door that leads to the bathrooms. The waiter I had with my work party was amazing, he was actually serving the table nearby. Honestly, our waitress was rude and I felt like she was judgmental towards us. She never once asked if we were celebrating anything and made a sparky noise when I was ordering and decided to change something. I have worked in the restaurant industry as a server myself and could have done a better job serving us if it was my first day. Beautiful hotel and atmosphere, I'll only go back for the casino.

I reviewed this restaurant 6 mos ago and gave it 5 stars. This time the food was a disappointment. My mom felt sick after her pasta that had wayyyy too many mushrooms in it, the French onion soup wasn’t ear as good as our last visit and my caprese chicken was “eh.” Unfortunately, we won’t return.

S
Susan Cotton

Service was great. Servers were all working very hard to make it a good experience. However. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye and it seemed to be more of an 8 oz , thin steak. I ordered the Oscar and it was served with a thick cold butter consistency, flavorless lump in a ramekin separate from the crab and asparagus. When I questioned the server, she said it was always served like that. I’ve never had it like that before, and it’s always served poured over the steak or under the steak as a warm sauce, not a cold chunk. The steak was so, so. It seemed more like a choice cut, and wasn’t worth the $58 plus $18 for the Oscar. The manager gave us a free dessert though!

My wife and I were sharing a weekend away. We ended our first day at 1875 Steakhouse with high hopes. We ordered the 10 oz filet and a baked potato to share. We also both started with their Cesar salad. Rolls were brought to the table that were delicious. I ordered Iced tea that was fabulous. Then the brought the salads. The lettuce was two days past its shelf life. 25% of it was brown on the edges. We picked it all out. Our waitress did not bring these to the table so we collected the bad lettuce and showed her expressing our concern that we did not want to pay for these and did not want other patrons to get this bad lettuce. She came back and said the salads would be taken off our bill. The baked potato was okay. The steak though was fabulous. Cooked the way we wanted, great quality and well seasoned.

Supposedly the signature restaurant in the WBH/French Lick hotels portfolio. Reserved a table for Christmas dinner and opted for the chef's special, Beef Wellington. The pastry was too doughy for the money you pay to eat here. The starter soup, Lobster Bisque, was tasty. The service was slow and had to wait longer than necessary for drinks. After being presented a bill, my card was brought back with a new bill because they had undercharged. Not classy. Also, don't expect a refined dining atmosphere. On one side of us was a screaming 3 year old and on the other side was an adult dressed like 3 year old in a ball cap and football hoodie. A very underwhelming experience. Actually couldn't wait to leave.

I was really looking forward to our meal at this restaurant! Had heard nothing but good things! But I’m not impressed! My steak was sent back 2 times! The mushrooms were bland! The steak was tasteless! I won’t go back to this place again!

The food does not justify their price point. Not even close. I ordered the surf and turf (steak and jumbo shrimp). My steak was average at best. Outback or any local chain steakhouse I think I can remember having is better. Shrimp were fine, nothing special. Another member of my family also ordered surf and turf and both of the steaks were overcooked for what we ordered. We shared corn ragout, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus sides. They were all fine, though the corn ragout stood out as actually good. It was the only notably good thing any of us had. Desserts were good but not outstanding. For this price, I expect outstanding. It felt like $30-40 plate from a chain restaurant but our table of four was closer to 4 or 5 times that with mains, three sides we shared, one drink each, and one dessert each. I cannot recommend at all. They need to get their act together.

P
Patti Stasel

We had made reservations a week early and were seated IN THE KITCHEN. All we heard were sounds from the kitchen and the conversation of the servers and cooks. Atmosphere was horrible for our anniversary. The food was ok. We had the surf and turf and lamb chops. Steak was ordered medium rare and it came barely medium well, if not well done. The lamb was good, but unseasoned. We spent nearly $100 per meal, including one drink each. The waiter never smiled, came back to see how our food was or barely smiled. However, there was one waitress (sadly, not ours) who was very friendly and hospitable. She was a slightly heavy, African American woman with red dreadlocks. I wish I knew her name. She got the tip. Thank you to her!!!

K
Kellee

First time here. When we arrived at 5:15pm, we were the 2nd table in the entire place, WITH reservations. (WHY did we need them?) They sat us next to a huge fire extinguisher, that was weird. Our server was very nice but didnt bring my drink, only my husbands. We had to ask again and clarify. We ordered the saganaki with lavash, shrimp and ribeye with chimichurri. The steak and chimichurri were both very good. The lavash was SO hard, it is was inedible. I have video of it, just ask...I can provide it. We told her about it and she came back to tell us that they would add more shrimp onto our order. We received TWO shrimps. Yes, two. I guess our original order was one shrimp by itself for $10? Do not waste your time on this eating establishment. Completely insane.

Came here for our first Christmas Dinner as an engaged couple. We started our evening with having patience and grace with those working and away from their families; understanding that we chose to be there on a holiday. However, our waitress was distant and cold. She had very little interactions with us and when she was present, appeared annoyed and disingenuous. The food was over priced for the food quality. Poor overall service.

L
Lori Ann

First we were seated in the back near a table of drunk and loud adults. The filet was burnt, ordered medium rare. The ribeye was burnt, ordered rare. The mashed potatoes were the only thing we enjoyed. After spending 220.00 in a restaurant we went back to West Bayden and ordered a pizza in the bar that was 100x better. Maybe just an off night but what a horrible experience.

H
Holly Hadra

Made reservations for 2 and we got sat right by the kitchen. Where my husband and I couldn't have a cnversation because the range hood fan was so loud.plus was busy with with all the wait staff . Waiter made us feel like we were a bother and he stood at the other end of room watching our table. Food was ok but no wow moment. Steak was a little tough.

S
Suzanne Goss

We had the worst possible experience! First after ordering coattails we noted one of the martini glasses had a crack. We called our server and he took it away bringing back a new glass but he poured what was left of the original drink in the new glass. When we said that the drink could have glass in it he took it away and brought a new drink. Waiter never spoke at all, no apology or comment-nothing! Next a ceased salad was brought with wilted, rusty brown lettuce! We ordered a crab cake appetizer to share. It was brought as one crab cake but we were charged for a split of it with an up charge on each ticket. One steak was ordered medium and it was bright red on the inside, another steak ordered well done was charred on outside and pink in the middle- inedible. The manager never came to our table but was constantly at a table of men two tables over, checking on them and talking to them the entire time! Also, all the food was extremely salty, I ordered creamed spinach and could not eat it due to the salt. On the way out as we walked past the manager he remarked, hope you ladies had a nice evening. I was so surprised he even spoke, I couldn’t even speak. Also if I would have I’m afraid it would be a scene as he was in the middle of the restaurant. We spent over 300.00 and had the absolute worst meal ever. One of us had scallops which she said were good but not hot. All in all the food was basically not good and service was awful!

D
Daniel Skiffen

Our experience was not the best. Yes we were there during Christmas night and understand that many of the servers there probably wanted to just be home for the holidays. The food definitely was up charged by quite a bit for the quality. My partners meal seemed like you could have found it at a Texas Roadhouse. The best part was the pecan pie. The server seemed elsewhere and not at all engaging, usually showing up and gone in less than 30 seconds. Barely saying a word before cartoon style exiting. All in all better to go across the street. 🐄🐄's

We ate at the 1875 for a birthday dinner on 12-12-25. For me to leave a negative review takes a lot. Some people are just hard to please. This is not the case. Service was horrible from our waitress . She was rude and slow and not wasn’t even busy. Steak was dry and over seasoned and grossly overpriced . Drinks were weak. Safe yourself some money and go to someplace else
