This place has a great atmosphere, friendly service, clean tables and floors, absolute 10/10. Great food too. Try the lobster ragoon!

We have eaten here often, our go to spot for great service and food is always hot, good and plentiful. I would recommend Yamato in Paoli to all my friends, great prices.

Great food, great takeout, great service. It's a little pricey but worth it. I love the sushi.
Modest appearance on the outside. Food was excellent and so was the service. I'm from out of town, but would come back given the opportunity.
Great food, good service, excellent prices.
Great food! I love eating here. My kids love it too! Very clean!
Amazing place! The foods are surprisingly GOOD! The ROCK SHIRMP is wonderful! Wish they can move closer to Bedford! Lol

Clean, quiet atmosphere, generous sushi portions, fabulous service from staff.

I've now been to all three locations and they all have great chef's always good food.
Really nice family runs this operation..their food is great. The portions ample and the prices are reasonable.Try it!!
The staff is super friendly and the food is great
I typically order the Chicken Hibachi with extra mushrooms. It comes with fried rice.
I love eating here! Great food and service.
Excellent food and large portions for the price. Highly recommend.
I absolutely love this place but can you please update your hours we drove all the way there and online said they closed at 10 but they were already closed at 9. If you have not been to this place you should go, the food and service is amazing
Very good food and reasonably priced, I like the sushi roll and taking soba. I would love to back here next time.
This place is amazing the food was good the waiters are nice.
Very Good food! Friendly staff, Manager was very sweet, and knew her stuff! Thank you, we will definitely return!
Great lunch options. Friendly fast service. Will go again when in the area.
We thought the price and the food taste and quality were outstanding. Super awesome dinner tonight. Well worth what we spent. Highly recommend.
This is a new restaurant to us. We stopped in to check it out and were pleasantly surprised. They don't cook the food in front of you but it is cooked on a hibachi and was very good. The sushi is hand rolled right in front of you. The rolls were fresh and some of the best we've had.
We called ahead to see if they were willing to have 3 hungry guys get to their restaurant 15 minutes before closing and still feed us?! They joyfully said "Yes, no problem!" Awesome food, great value, warm and professional service!
My new favorite place to eat! Moving to Southern Indiana doesn't mean you have to give up amazing ethnic food. If you love sushi, this is the place to go. I've only been to the Paoli location....will be checking out Salem soon.
We love this location. Always great food and fast service. The family that owns this location does a great job. Very friendly.
I honestly order from here about once a week and I am in love with this place. I cannot get enough amd everyone is super nice and the food gets done super quickly. Great price for the amount of food and quality!
Love this place. Anytime I'm around Paoli, this is my go to for food. Prices are exceptional for what you get. The food is always amazing and the staff are great.
First and foremost, so exciting to be able to go in and sit in a restaurant. This place is one of our favorites. Best service, food excellent every time. You want great sushi or hibachi. This is the place. Just the one in Paoli, In. So much food. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Food is amazing and service is fast. Wanted to give 4 stars due to the place could look a little better inside but yet I go back to just how great the food is and it's clearly the best place to eat in the area if you want 5 star food on a 3 star budget.
Loved the food. The place was really nice and not only that service was amazing! 💕
Always order to go and the food is still great when I get home. Friendly, family operated business.
Every time I travel to Paoli, I have to go to Yamato. Everything is delicious and the best restaurant in town !! And, great service they really care about what they serve you. I’m making myself hungry, better go there now. You will not be disappointed.
Great food and great service!! My favorite restaurant in Paoli. Authentic Japanese food is one of my favorites and this is the place ti get it! They have amazing sushi rolls too. Highly recommended!
I have eaten at Yamotos in Paoli several, and I mean several, times without the slightest problem. Food is wonderful, plenty and very tasty. Was never a sushi fan until introduced to it here. Can’t seem to get enough. Wife and I order at least once a week. Wish they could or would open up so we could set down and enjoy Rock Shrimp Shrimp tempura rolls Chicken&shrimp dinner No I do not own or have any stock in this place.
the Dynamite roll is excellent. One of the best sushi rolls I have ever had!!! 5stars. The service was excellent, prices are very reasonable.
Wonderful place. They make you feel at home. Cozy and comforting. The food is consistently good. Glad to have them here in Paoli!
We ordered takeout from here since we are new to the area. Best choice all day! The chicken was on point, rice is amazing, yum yum is by far the best around. Shrimp was good, steak was even better. The sushi rolls we got were spicy tuna and spicy california and they were legit too. Onion soup and salad was better than we have had around too. Our kids loved it as well over all it was a 10/10.
Food is wonderful and the staff is very nice. The place is very clean. It is relaxing with the lighting. Would recommend eating here.
Fantastic place to dine. The people are so nice, the food was great. I've eaten here multiple times and I have enjoyed it every time. I highly recommend it to anyone else who wants to try something new.
My husband and I make this at the very least a once a month stop to eat for date night. The food is always good, and for the price you're not going to get better portions, the staff is always amazing you won't find friendlier people! I can't wait for their bedford location to open up, so it's not as far of a drive.
Fantastic local Japanese restaurant! They offer kids meals. The Hibachi meals were excellent with large portions. We stayed at Big Splash Adventure and it was definitely worth the drive over to Paoli to have a delicious meal. Our waitress was so welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Fantabulous Japanese food, hospitality is top-notch!
Very nice people, wonderful service and so quick on takeout
A Midwest Miracle: The Unbeatable Value of Yamato in Paoli, Indiana In the heart of the Midwest, where quality sushi and authentic Japanese fare can often come with city prices (or questionable freshness), Yamato stands out as a genuine culinary anomaly. Simply put, this is the best value Japanese food I have ever encountered, and it's quickly become my non-negotiable favorite in Indiana. The quality of the food here is truly remarkable, especially considering the location. The fish, whether you're ordering a classic nigiri or one of their imaginative specialty rolls, is exceptionally fresh—far surpassing what you'd typically expect in a small, landlocked town. Every dish, from the perfectly executed tempura to the rich, flavorful yakisoba, speaks to a commitment to genuine ingredients and careful preparation. This is not just "good for Indiana"; this is simply good food. Now, let's talk about the price. It's almost unbelievable. The pricing here is what makes Yamato a five-star experience; you get high-end quality for what feels like unspeakably low prices. It’s hard to imagine another Japanese restaurant in the country offering this level of execution at such an accessible cost. This spot truly offers the "best and cheapest" combination without sacrificing a shred of decency or flavor. Coupled with the quality is the solid and decent service. The staff is consistently attentive, making sure your meal is served promptly and your water is full. The atmosphere is warm, making it feel like a cherished neighborhood spot. If you are traveling through Indiana—or if you live here and haven't discovered it yet—make the pilgrimage. Yamato is, without question, Indiana’s best small-town Japanese restaurant and a phenomenal example of how high-quality dining doesn't have to break the bank. Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars (Phenomenal Value and Quality)
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We spent more money than we normally would have because we wanted to try a few different items that on a normal day we would not have ordered all at once. But it was our anniversary so we got whatever we wanted. The dynamite roll is absolutely fantastic and between us we got the imperial dinner and the salmon dinner and they were both great. So… The food was amazing! The service was great! All in all it was a really good dining experience. We left there stuffed and took home leftovers
Great food serviced by very friendly people!
Great atmosphere, friendly service and tasty food.
Always fresh food. Prices are reasonable. Great sushi rolls and sushimi. Service is always fast. Love this place!
This place is a masterpiece. Amazing management and staff team, great hibachi, great sushi, and amazing service. Lucas, Lina, and Lilliann are great! So is the rice.
Love this place! I come here about once every other month. I always get the bento box with onion soup and a side salad. My husband loves the sushi with eel sauce and spicy mayo. I love the Yum Yum sauce on the salad and rice. It's cheaper if you go for lunch during the week so we try to do that.
I didn't expect authenticity and fresh seafood being in Indiana but I was pleasantly wrong. Very good tuna and all at a great price! Onion soup was also amazing!
The food was good as always, and I have never had a problem here. The yum yum sauce is so good with practically anything there is on the menu, and the prices aren't terrible, but they have risen a couple of times since the establishment opened up. Overall great family run business that will have my business for as long as they're in town.
First time here. Prices decent , food was outstanding! Staff friendly. Had California sushi roll, there dumplings, sirloin , and fillet mignon with shrimp. Meso soup. All was outstanding. Definitely going to be stopping in again to try other dishes they serve. Sorry I didn't get a photo of dish we had. Also their rice was very, very good.
This place is easily the best Japanese restaurant in Southern Indiana. The service was spectacular and the food was amazing. The outside may look a little worn and dated but the food makes up for it. The younger girl waitress was very kind and worked hard to make sure our visit was great. 10/10 will definitely eat there again!
Good food n fast service.. I'm a first time eating at this kind of restaurant wasn't sure about it but after trying it couple times I now like it a lot..
An unexpected find in this town, Yamato serves surprisingly authentic hibachi meals and sushi at very reasonable prices. Check it out if you're passing through!
Any Yamato location is good. They due vary however in the types of rice(some have more ingredients) and degrees of flavor.
Steak tough. No veterans discount. Service was good
I like the quality of the food, nice service.
Really good food, but the staff sometimes like to yell through the dinning room.
Good food, good service, friendly atmosphere.
It's got good food, and it's in a small town, so I wouldn't expect much, but good food.
Each Yamato I have dined at have been similar. This includes the great quality and taste. This particular one in Paoli is roomier than the others. If you love Japanese then check it out.
The soup seemed a little more savory here than the one in Bedford.
Limited sushi options, but probably the best you can get for a mostly land-locked state.
The food here is great no matter what you get! The service is basic neither good or bad, but the atmosphere here is not enjoyable for the simple quietness of tge place and decor. It can make you feel a bit stuffy.
. The food was excellent. When we first walked in we weren’t sure what to expect. The waitress kept our drinks full and were always there for us. I recommend it if you are in French lick area. We will be back.
This is my daughter's favorite place. The food is good. Spicy tuna roll is amazing. Only complaint is the salad is always watery.
Not a fan of the indoor dining experience as it is very close quarters, but the takeout is astounding. Prices are very reasonable for portion size and the flavor of everything I have tried here is spot on. I would recommend the onion soup as it is some of tye best I have ever had, especially in thia region.
The food and atmosphere were both great and the server did a good job catering to our needs. The sushi there is plentiful and large in size I highly recommend it!
Worth the drive from West Baden Springs. The salmon bento box was huge. We ordered it two days in a row. We had a wonderful dinner carrying in. They are quite generous with the delicious salad dressings on the side. We loved it on top of fresh salad we bought at Walmart next door. The egg roll and hibachi fried rice were also quite yum.
It was good. However, I wish there was more variety of sushi (just 3 choices: tuna, white tuna, and salmon). The salmon was delicious. Edamame was good too. The only thing we ordered that we did not like was the Dynamite roll (a specialty roll). The stringy crab meat on the top was super gross. We certainly won’t order that roll again. However we will probably eat here again. Glad to have a place to get sushi in Paoli.
Rangoon seemed off in a few different ways. Fillet was a lil overcooked. The entire meal seemed hurried or reheated. Service was great though.
Its was ok. Service nice and fast but Japanese cuisine is not my thing. Had to try it though.
Its supposedly a steakhouse but after the 3 visits and my rare steak was repeatedly cooked well done I complained. They forgot my shrimp on 2 out of the 3 visits and upon my complaint received no compensation; Only the shrimp I had paid for with what appeared to be spit on them! Great fried rice though. But very pour restaurant.
I wouldn't be leaving a bad review we ordered sushi its never wrong. Today it was they close at 9 and I tried calling from 845 all the way to 9. Got to the place at 855 and the doors were locked and the people were sitting in their van. I just wanted my roll made right. But they can't answer the phone to even apologize.
