I've been told over and over to go to this place so my wife and finally tried it. So glad we did cause it was hands down THE BEST seafood in Fresno. Not only that the bartender knows what she's doing with the drinks, I ordered a Gibson Up with Gin and she knew exactly how to make it. To top it off our server, Erica, was absolutely the best. Recommended great food options and we couldn't have been happier with her service. If you're tightening the belt and want to go here you can definitely be satisfied spending $20-$25 a person, but for this visit we went all out and ended up spending $150. It was worth every penny. We started with a mug of clam chowder (white) and stuffed bread (highly recommend). I ordered the grilled swordfish with double potatoes au gratin w/bacon and crab topper (a must). The swordfish was a little overcooked but soaking it in the crab topper made it more juicy so that fixed the problem. My wife ordered the bacon cheeseburger w/fries and it was one of the best burgers we've tasted, especially for being a seafood place. We ordered a couple drinks, the Gibson Up and my personal favorite Vodka Sunset (mandarin vodka, OJ, sour mix, grenadine). We ended the night with dessert, the brownie w/ice cream and I got the lemon cheesecake. The ambiance also made this place great and the booths are big people friendly, that's also a huge plus for me as I don't like booths for that reason LOL we WILL be back for more!
We were staying in Fresno to drive to Sequoia National Park and picked this restaurant based off of Google reviews. So glad we did. It’s located in a nice shopping center so you can pick up groceries or do a little shopping in the area too. It’s a loud atmosphere. It was also packed when I went, but we called ahead and made sure there was no wait before we arrived. We got seated about 5 minutes after arriving. Our server, Giovanni, was an absolute delight! I hope everyone has a server like him. He was attentive, polite, funny. I ordered the artichoke appetizer, which is served as the whole artichoke sliced in half. It comes out hot and with a tasty lemon aioli. I also got the larger size of the wedge salad, it was everything I expected, I just couldn’t finish it because it was really large, but so good.
Our first time here. We tried the Calamari Steak and this was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the grilled swordfish and I ordered the Power Salad with grilled rosemary chicken. All the dishes were great and we had the most attentive server Eliseo. Would definitely come back again and highly recommend this place!
Bartender Page is the best! She is sweet, welcoming and on point with the drinks!! Kevin Zelenak is a great human being as he is a manager!! Kevin is on everything, on point! I had the best time and the food is amazing!!
This is one of the best restaurants in fresno hands down amazing servers amazing energy and chill atmosphere 10/10 easily
Food was awesome. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Little bit on the noisy side
This place is amazing delicious food and exceptional service, all the staff were friendly, our server Brianna was amazing, super friendly she recommended all the right choices. My wife and celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and we will definitely be back again. I recommend every one to check this place out.
I’ve always loved this place & have been eating their meals now since they have opened. The customer service has always been exceptional & of course their entrees are why people keep coming back for more!! They have 2 supervisors who I would like to give a shout especially….Steven & Darren! They made me feel like a vip as a customer & are examples of how supervisors should be! Thank you Steven & Darren for your dedication & you both guarantee an excellent restaurant experience!! 👍🏻 Thank you!!
Thank you Cameron! My kids had a blast with a waiter as attemptive and kind as your self. I hope pismos takes care of you because not to many places out there that have a worker like Cameron. I will be returning for some more clam chowder!
First visit today (a Sunday afternoon) for our wedding anniversary. Other than online reviews, it was a dice roll. Drove 45 miles. Thankfully, reviews were on point and we were not disappointed in the least. Restaurant was pretty busy but virtually no wait to be seated. Waiter (John) was a low key kind of dude - even keeled, no hype. Just helpful and informative when asked. We definitely appreciated his demeanor and service! So, on to the food… The menu has plenty of choices but not overwhelming. After a few answered questions and a little time to think, we ordered the grilled artichokes and white clam chowder for appetizers. Entrées were crabcakes with cilantro rice and sweet potato hash and Santa Maria steak with cilantro rice and the brussels sprouts in their house sauce. Artichokes had an excellent grilled flavor. Not greasy. The dip they serve them with is tasty also but not necessary because flavor was so good. Clam chowder was rich but not overly so and had a very generous amount of meat and serving size was plentiful. The Santa Maria steak is basically tri-tip but cooked perfectly. Ordered medium well and was so tender and flavorful, one might not even believe it’s tri-tip! So good! Crab cakes needed no sauce or anything additional. Delicious! Cilantro rice was filling and the perfect compliment to our entrees. Sweet potato hash is tasty and refreshingly different. Brussel sprouts are good - on the sweet side in an Asian style sauce. To boot, the coffee is excellent, along with the margarita. Thanks, John, for your help and service! We’ll be back!
I was not expecting this place to be so good. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was seasoned really well and it felt like the chefs really cared about their food. Even something as simple as pasta was really delicious. It reminded me of a shack at the beach. The seafood is top notch but the best thing is the service. Everyone was so nice and friendly and extremely patient with my crazy family. You won't regret it, try this place out. Definitely coming back!
5 stars goes for the service alone, Mark was my server, and definitely, people like him are the reason we want to come back. The food was good, clam chowder flight also good and the sourdough bread delicious, I had surf and turf and even when the ribeye was good, I feel like the lobster could have been better. Overall, I will definitely come back to try something different.
My family and I went here for the first time and I had made a reservation right when they opened, which was great because it was busy by the time we got there at 3! The food was so delicious and we were all happy with the service and quality. It was awesome music too and they were playing football on the TV's for Sunday hurray! Definitely would go again with my family and try the other dishes ☺️
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST FOOD OF FRESNO!!! I genuinely love it!!! Everything tastes great & all of the cooks, waiters / waitresses, bartenders & management are just phenomenally great at everything they do here. Honestly, it's always a great/wonderful experience, consistently good food & great people every single time!
Brought my fiancee here for dinner. Crab, shrimp and Cod were on point! Very tasty Sea food. Would recommend and will be returning again.
One of the best seafood related restaurants I have been to since leaving Santa Barbara last year! Definitely will come again. The portions are great and the ingredients are not skimped on. Love, love, love. Grilled salmon is amazing and so was the linguini with double clam - 5 star food quality
We came here once, years ago when it had first opened. Our first experience was poor. The food was soggy. The staff was great. This experience was 100% better, it changed our view and we will definitely be back. I loved all of the options. There was plenty to choose from. I had the halibut which was amazing!! If you are diabetic, there is not a lot of side options, but there is mixed greens.
Our server was great she always kept us supplied with drinks or food and the snapper bites are delish!! A must try! My sister got the salmon taco and steak taco I got the white clam chowder with toppings my green mandori sour was perfectly blended, my sister liked her 🍷 wine! Great evening!! & it was packed but we had a reservation.
Delicious clam chowder. Grilled Swordfish with fresh spinach ,& broccoli, crab cakes with cauliflower in some great sauce. Abram an excellent server. We'll be back
It is like a nice vacation in the Florida keys. Great seafood options. The overall food was exquisite. Great drink options. The ambiance is beach shore meets Joes garage but way more elevated. They have a fish market in house. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and eager to educate. This place melted my heart. Can’t wait until my next visit.
Four of us---all first time...very impressed...Very good all the way around! Made reservations so no waiting involved. Kind and quick staff. Absolutely delicious food. Swordfish, brussel sprouts, shrimp, steak, crab all so yummy!! Pretty pricey but worth it😁. Would definitely go back.
I LOVE Pismos, i have been here maybe 7 times and the food is always good with good amount of food for the price you pay. The service is awesome, they are always nice. The pistachio calamari is amazing, must have. The bacon with potatoes were sooo good i dont remember the name, it came as a side with the steak. Wish the artichoke had more meat on it. Overall it was good and i will go back again . The chocolate cake with ice cream was so dang good, got it complimentary for my bday. See you soon!
I love their Bistro salad! It has the most incredible dressing. I wish I had the recipe. 😋 Plus their tacos are excellent. I get one steak and one blackened salmon. It comes with a side of black beans, where I did copy the recipe when I got home. You will be very happy you ate here!
KERI WAS THE BEST SERVER EVER. she was so attentive, knowledgeable and just an all around amazing server!!! ask for her if you go and you won’t be disappointed. the food was also delicious, i got the ribeye with garlic mash and brussels sprouts. very delish and it was my birthday so i got a birthday treat :) i felt very special and Keri also made my birthday very special so thank you so much :) i will be back 100000%
Went here on a weeknight and was seated immediately. There was still a full house of guests in the restaurant with all seats taken at the bar. The drink I had was amazing and had a nice herbal taste to it with the mint leaf. Fried snapper bites had a hearty flavor. The tartar sauce has a hint of spice. The sirloin was more medium well even though we asked for just medium; however it was really tender and had a nice smokey flavor. Potatoes gratin and mashed very delicious. The pistachio crusted calamari is a must every time! Melts in your mouth and such an amazing taste. Scallops were cooked well with a nice sear. Artichokes and rice was decent. Overall the service was great and food was even better.
Server was on top of it. Attentive. Food was satisfying. I got to taste a little bit of everything with my group. Clam chowder was YUM bought a quart to take home. Steak App was a hit. Fried Calamari was one of a kind, I kept raving how soft it was, I’m used to a more chewy texture. I had the shrimp and clam pasta, fair amount and savory! I personally didn’t try the pistachio calamari (my cousin ordered and finished it) . And the Iron Pot combo add linguine my husband enjoyed that meal. Thanks Pismos !
While traveling thru the Fresno area, we found this establishment online and decided to check it out. Upon arrival, despite being alongside a shopping/outlet mall area, we were able to find great parking near the restaurant. What we like to call "rockstar" parking. Immediately upon walking in, we were greeted and seated. Although we didn't have a drink at the bar, it looked like a fabulous place to have a drink. Bar area was large. If not seated, it can be a challenge to walk thru the crowd gathered around the bar area. I also noticed that they took advantage of every opportunity to fit as many people possible into this establishment. Meaning some tables are ridiculously close, cramped, and looked very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we were seated. I'm one of those less than desirable areas. Even with a plethora of comfortable seating available. No worries, not being from CA, we understand there are certainly many undesirable areas than not. Our waiter/server was at our table shortly after being seated. He is what truly made our dining experience amazing. Our server (Blake) was unbelievably professional & knowledgeable regarding the menu. Despite being fairly busy, he never had a problem with providing top-notch service. Our glasses were never empty, and we wanted for nothing with the customer service he provided. One of our best experiences with customer service since being in CA as we have been here approximately 2 years on a work assignment throughout the state. My husband and I are self-proclaimed foodies who travel the country for the careers we have, which allows us to eat at some pretty amazing places. We try to order various menu items on initial visits to get a genuine taste of restaurants with great reviews. We started by ordering crispy fried calamari & Fried snapper bites. Each was served absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection! The sauces served with each were a compliment to how they each were prepared. A+++ Our main meal consisted of ordering the t-bone with lobster 🦞 tail & with my husband ordering off the specials menu. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name but it consisted of crab, scallops, mussels, lobster, shrimp and more! Both orders came out again cooked to perfection!!! Everything was cooked as we ordered & amazingly seasoned. Kudos to the 👨🍳 👩🍳 👏 Overall, great experience! We are looking forward to coming back. This time, I asked for "rockstar" seating. Nobody puts baby in the corner!
Pismo's is one of my favorite restaurants in Fresno and one of the best overall in my opinion. No complaints ever when I go there. I met the GM awhile back too, nice cat. You can tell the cooks care about how their food tastes. My Girl and I went twice in a 2-3 week span lol. On a Saturday for Lunch, then A Friday Night Date Night. I love this place! I recommend this place to everyone.
We went to Pismo's Coastal Grill last Sunday after a long day of shopping. The wait was about 30 minutes and it was packed. It was well worth the extra time to have such a delightful meal. We started off with the sourdough bread appetizer and I had the pistachio crusted calamari and a wedge salad. The tartar sauce is tangy and amazing. The fish and chips that my mom had were just like if we had been on the central coast. Overall, it was a fabulous meal and the service was excellent and fast. Update....we went again in April and just as fantastic. Loved the peachy sangria and blackened Mahi sandwich
One of the best restaurants I have been to this year, out-freaking-standing! Was packed when I went by myself for lunch, impressed by the server and manager, both were super nice and very professional. The crab cocktail appetizer was ridiculously delicious, big pieces of crab with serranos, micro-Cilantro and lemon garlic marinade, best appetizer of the year for me. Also tried the clam chowder sampler, which had Classic White, Spicy Red, and Rhode Island Clear, all were good but the white was the best I have had. The plain sourdough bread was also exceptional. Liked it so much I took my team there for lunch the same day. All 8 people raved about the food,I had the crab cakes which were good but not great. We ordered the crab cocktail appetizer x 2 for the group and they concur that it is the best. Coworker had the swordfish, which I wish I would have ordered. Manager remembered me from lunch and comped 2 orders of the sourdough bread with cheese, absolutely delicious. Don't hesitate, this place is a must visit, food is a 5+, service is also 5+.
My husband wanted to come back the next day & have the halibut for breakfast ! Finally found a great restaurant in Fresno. We arrived about 4pm Friday Sep 26th. We were led to our table by one of the two friendly hostesses. Our server sat across from me as my husband was checking out the fish market. Our server (dang don't remember name) was so funny & gracious saying he didn't want me to sit alone! We ordered salads, the sour dough bread,, grilled halibut & swordfish & each of us had 2 sides that were included. We each enjoyed a cocktail. Our waiter informed us he was off shift / was sad to see him leave he told us he usually bartends but wanted to serve people this shift so happy we were lucky to have him. The young man that took over was also friendly. Anyway we will be back when we return to Fresno for next year's Koi Show !
I've had almost everything on the menu but my go too is, Lazy Man's Ciopinno, simply the best, hot hardy seafood in a cup with salad and bread, can't go wrong on this! Update from 5/3/25 just had the cup of half and half clam chowder and salad and buddy had the adult size chicken tenders and wow! Home run here. I’ve always loved the food at Dave’s places, Westwood, Yosemite Ranch and for sure Pismo’s Coastal Grill. First time with these two and it’s a no brainer. Amazing service and always, great cook and prep.
This is one of my favorite places to go. I sat at the bar. This time had an amazing glass of wine. Ordered The tuna, sashimi, It was absolutely spectacular. Then I ordered the fish bites, and that was definitely scrumptious The atmosphere was great. I made a friend and had an amazing time. The bartenders are absolutely incredible
I'm not in Fresno too often, but on a recent trip, Pismo's was highly recommended, so we decided to visit for lunch. The menu is filled with tasty options, with seafood being the highlight. The Sashimi Pizza was at the top of our list to try. It was fresh and delicious, with an excellent combination of flavors and textures. For my entrée, I chose the Maui-style Fish Tacos, which were offered on the specials of the day menu. I also enjoyed this dish. Craft cocktails, beers, and wine are also available. I love the decor and vibe of the dining area. Our server was kind and attentive. There's also a fresh seafood market if you want to take any daily catches home.
Stopped by for lunch after seeing the many positive rewiews and was not disappointed. My waiter was fantastic and even brought me a sample of the clam chowder to try. The soup was excellent and my salad was tasty as well. My only complaint would've that the texture of the bread was too chewy for my taste. Given the quality of everything else however this was overshadowed. I will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area
To the establishment: -11 of the 12 oysters du jour were excellent -Salmon rice cake delicious-but the "plate"- should be larger +1 FOH staff excellent. The kind fellow that took my order is destined for success TLDR: brings my Salmon rice cake leftovers in the box I forgot at the table. To the parking lot and found me in the car. To you sir, thank you and use your skills to achieve success and wealth in life
My dining experience at Pismo's Restaurant was truly delightful. I opted for the Alaska halibut accompanied by crispy fries and creamy potatoes au gratin, while my date savored the same dish with mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and a side of brussels sprouts. The food was exceptional; the halibut was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the sides were flavorful and satisfying. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the staff at Pismo's were incredibly friendly and efficient, ensuring that every guest received prompt service. Their ability to manage a busy restaurant without compromising on quality is commendable. Overall, Pismo's Restaurant offers not only delicious cuisine but also a welcoming ambiance and top-notch service. It's definitely a place worth visiting again and recommending to friends and family.
Pros: Excellent food, especially the seafood Great service, our server Abram was very attentive and knowledgeable Nice atmosphere, with a casual lodge-like feel Cons: The crab cake was a bit dry and overcooked We had a great meal at Pismo's Coastal Grill. The dozen raw oysters were fresh and briny, the sea bass was cooked perfectly, and the garlic fries were crispy and flavorful. The clam chowder was also delicious, and the poke tuna was a refreshing and light option. The only dish that we didn't enjoy was the crab cake. Overall, we had a very positive experience at Pismo's Coastal Grill. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was nice. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good seafood meal in Fresno.
It's been a few years since my last visit but I have to say this is my favorite seafood restaurant in the Fresno area. The service is consistently good and the food is second to none. Its hard to find great seafood in the area but Pismo's is the exception. Great lineup on the menu and they nail it in the kitchen every time. If you are looking for great seafood this is the place.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this was truly exceptional service. We came in with a larger party that included two toddlers and a newborn in a stroller and Steven the manager was an absolute breath of fresh air. He and his team went out of their way to make it happen and found us a table incredibly fast, especially considering our group size and needs. On our way out we made sure to thank him and my sister actually remembered him from the amazing service he provided at Westwood! The staff is always nice and the food is always amazing. I love how involved, welcoming, and hands-on Steven is. He’s the kind of true leader the service industry is missing these days. Exceptional experience all around. Keep up the good work guys!
This place is honestly one of the best seafood spots in Fresno. I had the fried calamari, pistachio-crusted calamari, ponzu salmon, and a scallop & crab cake—they were all super tasty and the seafood was top notch. The service was great and the vibe is perfect for a nice dinner. Definitely recommend it if you love seafood!
When arriving at Pismo's Coastal Grill, the first thing you notice is the irresistable delicious aromas coming out of the open windows, accompanied by the sound of people having fun. It's our first time at Pismo's. I'm glad we made a reservation earlier in the day because, even at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, the place is pretty much fully occupied. There was a brief wait until the table was ready, and in the mean tiem people kept pouring in. Now, you'd think that with all that folk, the service would be challenging. But it all went pretty smooth! Kenzee, our fabulous, fun loving waiter immediately showed up and it flowed well from that point until we left. She even found time to engage with the 2 year old in our company, in a way that kept him engaged and entertained! For drinks we have among others the OAKtoberfest, and a white Sauvignon which was recommended by the staff based on our wine drinker preferences (bang on!). Among our starters were the white clam chowder and the fried calamari steak. Our mains included Chilean bass, sirloin steak, double clams fetucini and salmon. All cooked to perfection and at a very reasonable price. We had chocolate brownies and coconut rum cake for deserts. When Kenzee asked our 2 yr old what he thought of the brownie he replied good 'and the ice cream was also good' :) She tuned into his wave length immediately and brought him another scoop. This toodler never ever sailed through a family dinner so smoothly as with Kenzee's service. Great job Kenzee! We will definately come again soon!
Pismo’s Coastal Grill is a well-known seafood spot at Nees & Blackstone, bringing coastal flavors right into Fresno 🐟🍤. I tried a mix of entrées and starters — here’s the breakdown. Dish Breakdown 🍴 1️⃣ Pan Roasted Chilean Sea Bass with Crab Topper & Shrimp This was the highlight of the meal ⭐. The sea bass had a heavenly soft, buttery texture with a mild natural aroma from the fish itself. A squeeze of lemon 🍋 really brightened it up, enhancing that fresh ocean flavor 🌊. The crab topper and grilled shrimp added extra layers of seafood richness, making each bite satisfying. 2️⃣ Pistachio Crusted Calamari Steak Much better than the one I had at Yosemite Ranch. The cooking time here was on point — tender inside, with a nutty, flavorful crust 🌰 that made it far more enjoyable. The light creamy sauce and lemon wedge balanced it well. 3️⃣ Seafood Ceviche This one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The heavy guacamole 🥑 flavor overpowered the shrimp and fish, masking the freshness I usually look for in a ceviche. I prefer a lighter, citrus-forward style. 4️⃣ Sourdough Bread Surprisingly one of the standouts despite its simplicity 🥖. Lower-priced than most appetizers, yet full of flavor with perfect crunchiness and a satisfying bite. Ratings ⭐️ • Tastiness: 7.5/10 😋 • Price Appropriateness: 6/10 💲 • Portion Size: 7/10 🍽️ • Overall Experience: 7/10 👍
Always a great experience with equally amazing food. Don’t leave without trying their cheese stuffed sourdough bread with capers and calamari steak. Incredible, every time. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there recently and were pleasantly surprised. Our server was very helpful with drink suggestions and very attentive throughout. Manager Steven Graham visited our table regarding a question of ours and added to the pleasant experience. It’s great to know the staff makes time for their guests. Keep up the great job! Already looking forward to our next visit.
Recently went to try Pismos for the very first time and I wondered why I took so long. Came to a concert in Fresno and made reservations 3 days prior to our visit to you also have an option to make reservations. My friend had the wedge salad and some clam chowder the salad looked and she said it was delicious and it sure looked like it. Myself I had the seafood pasta no shrimp add calamari and this dish can easily win some awards, the bread the served it with was so yummy and buttery and with the perfect amount of garlic. For an appetizer we had the fried calamari strips and how they prepped them with some shredded parmesean cheese was perfect. Go try them out they have a variety of foods for the whole family.
We stumbled upon this place during a road trip pit stop. We were blown away! Great atmosphere and delicious food. I had their clam chowder sampler, mostly because I hadn't ever heard of Rhode Island clam chowder, and it ended up being my favorite of the three. The Manhattan had a nice spice to it, but if you don't like things spicy, I would avoid it. The snapper bites were a table favorite and quickly disappeared. I had the calamari steak and scallops and both were good, but I ended up wishing I just had the scallops because they were so good. The brussel sprouts are also a must, especially if you like them a little sweet. I saw their Santa Maria app come out and was immediately envious. I'll definitely give that a go next time I'm driving through Fresno.
Brought my mom here because she wanted some great clam chowder. I ordered the calamari and they did not disappoint. The clam chowder came out nice and hot and was very good. My mom said it's the best clam she's had in a long time. The calamari was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing and I have no complaints. I ended up having the Caesar salad with chicken and it was cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh and these dressing was very well placed. My mom had a pasta dish. I don't remember which one but it was really good and she wants to come back again soon. Great job Pisnos and we appreciate your great staff and Service.
With almost 3,500 positive reviews, I don’t have much to add other than to echo what others have said. Pismo’s is a very popular restaurant in north Fresno. Reservations are a good idea if you are going for dinner. Fresno is my hometown and I’ve been many times when returning to town for a visit. This time, I was dining with a childhood friend who loves the restaurant. She ordered Grilled Jumbo Prawns with a wedge salad side. I ordered Linguini and Clams with garlic butter sauce and several slices of sourdough bread. Both dishes were wonderfully delicious, as usual. Highly recommend. My other favorites are the clam chowder and the pistachio crusted calamari steak. I love the vibe of the restaurant. It is high energy and upscale yet casual.
delicious lunch specials! the salmon power bowl had all kinds of great flavors plus delicious salmon on top. the chowder was coast-worthy. friendly service from sabrina. we'll be back.

Grilled Halibut and Salmon were superb. Big fan of the Sweet Potato Hash, too. The server was curt, even rude at times...seemed visibly annoyed if someone took longer to order than he thought they should. He didn't ask if we wanted anything else, but just brought the check. We had wanted dessert, but decided to go elsewhere. The atmosphere was festive...kind of like farmhouse-chic/industrial/nautical.
I am not over stepping when I tell you that the food in Monterey CA while sitting on the pier over seeing the Pacific Ocean couldn't on its best day even shine a light to what this incredible restaurant is doing. Little bit loud but what the heck everyone is having fun. Hands down amazing...
We love Pismo's, it is a go to place when we are in Fresno. Great selection of seafood, of course, as well a well developed beer list and great salads. Moderate priced, not too expensive but not cheap either. Great place for families and groups as well as they do have larger tables to sit groups. It is a large restaurant with full bar and a seafood market as well. They have the best pistachio crusted calamari ever, crisp and tasty. The last time we went everyone had the same thing it is so good. Salads are also good, and very large. Dinners come with two sides. There is a crab appetizer that will knock your socks off. It is in oil with jalapenos, spicy in good. The bread is terrific, although they charge for it. Highly recommend that you try this spot.
So we tried out this place for my mom's birthday. Started off with shrimp cocktail and some drinks. The mixed drinks had to be returned as they weren't sweet as ordered. Our waiter repaced them but we just got regular drinks. Oak lager was a nice draft beer. We got the steak and lobster. The steak was alot of fat but cooked as ordered. Lobster was delicious. The food was ok but didn't seem worth the price. Seafood was good but don't think I would order steak again. Waiter was professional and did a great job.
Casual setting, nice decor, open kitchen, very clean, exceptional hostess and wait staff Appetizer of fried clam strips was ok. Although cooked well, I would prefer less breading and thicker clam strips, I had to "search" for the flavor and texture of the clam in the dish. Nice flavor to the tarter sauce. My lunch dish was grilled scallops and crab cake. The scallops were very tender and delicious. The side of grilled artichoke was amazing with a nice wood smoke flavor. The crab cake was cooked well but once again, I was left "searching" for the crab. I was expecting much more of the actual crab meat in the dish and a much larger portion for the $29.00 lunch price. Once again, the atmosphere was very fun, staff exceptional, and kitchen and dining area very clean!
A nice but not a great meal. Services was excellent. Calamari appetizer was standard. My partner had the special with a fried rice that was amazing - the reason I am giving 4 stars. My dish on the other hand had a burnt inedible artichoke, salty potatoes along side some nice scallops. Cocktails were very good.
I've been to this place several times and it's always tasty and good service. I decided to give it 4 stars only because this most recent visit the service wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Our waitress was nice but didn't seem to check up on us at all. I ordered the fish and chips which usually requires lemon and I only received a tiny slice, no big deal. We had to ask for napkins, and when she brought them to us we were given one napkin for each parent. Don't get me wrong maybe I should've said several napkins. But we also ordered 2 appetizers and we had a kid with us. Not a huge deal but would've been nice to get a refill or at least check up on during appetizers or before out actual meal. Either way The food was good, we got the Santa Maria tri tip and the clam chowder sampler as apps. And my girl ordered clam chowder Breadbowl while. I ordered the fish and chips. Both were tasty the only thing is the fish was a little soggy on the bottom as pictured. Other than that the food is usually always great.
We had a very nice lunch. The portions are big, so my wife and I shared a clam chowder and a salad with bay shrimp, lobster meat and jumbo shrimp. We were so hungry that we didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it, but it was delicious. Since we shared we decided to have a lemon meringue cheesecake. So glad that things are getting back to normal in order to enjoy a nice lunch outing.
Made reservations for a birthday dinner. The only issue with everyone’s food that it was really bland. However the outstanding service from our server Austin, made up for that. He was attentive and accommodating for a birthday event.
Disappointed from the take out young girl. She appeared to have no urgency, no emotion to her customer service. Seemed chaotic in the restaurant. Ordered the snapper sandwich with fries. The fries were cold, the sandwich seemed to have been thrown together. Didn't see many of the described items on the sandwich unfortunately. The snapper was good however
Very fun and relaxing atmosphere. My family and I went to dine here Saturday evening. Be sure to get on the waitlist, we expected to wait and we did for an hour for a table. Good thing it’s a prime location for killing time and shopping, there’s ton to do there. Anyway, we have the pistachio crusted calamari, very good but very small and pricey for the amount you get. We ordered the watermelon cooler drink and that was refreshing enough, a bit too much ice but not a deal breaker. Lastly, we ordered a cheeseburger and chicken fingers for the kids, lots of food! Plus we got them the garlic fries. Very tasty. My hubby and I ordered the Hawaiian Poke Bowl which was a new item on the menu, it’s was terrific! The waitress was super friendly to me and the family. Nice place to take the family for a fun environment and yummy food.
We decided to eat at Pismo's yesterday, this was my first time eating here. I ordered the civeche as an appetizer, I must say this was by far the best guacamole/shimp/ fish combination I've ever had. We ordered the fish and chips combo and santa maria sirloin, Brussels sprouts and salad. The fish and chips were good and portions were enough. My wife's steak was not cooked as ordered, also our server took forever to take our order.

OVERALL GOOD JOB. CALAMARI STEAK VERY GOOD. Seafood prepared well and service was good. A bit over priced. Plenty parking in the plaza.

This was recommended by hotel staff when we stayed in nearby Clovis and was worth the visit. It was definitely crowded so reservations are recommended. We shared a nice salad and a cioppino soup …

Not a huge fan of this place. Although, I've never had a bad meal here the food is mediocre at best. Tonight we started with the steamed clams and for dinner I had swordfish and my wife had the Santa Marie steak with shrimp. I know this place has a lot of great reviews but there isn't much to compare it with in fresno...
Another update 5-18-23 Pretty disappointed this visit so I downgraded two stars. With 59,000,000 views on my reviews, most can easily see I'm a very fair critic/reviewer. Ordered braised short ribs with rice and shrimp. Ended up with very small bits and pieces of short rib mixed with rice. (See pic) Look at the misleading menu description (See pic)...Braised Short Rib with a comma after it and the rice is at the end of the description. No where does it say this is some sort of rice mixture casserole. This was a $32 appetizer, not an entree. Pretty disappiinting after good previous experiences and the manager we talked to basically said he didn't see ut that way. We wont be back for quite a while if at all. Older Update: The spiced Tri-Tip sandwich is the bomb along with the garlic fries. The Hawaiin Ahi Poke tower appetizer is the bomb. My wife had the calamari appetizer and I had an Halibut special with lemon risotto....OMG! YUM!!!
I really like this place, but they use so much pepper in all their dishes I can never eat anything here. I have tried everything: appetizers, fish, pasta, salads, clam chowder...everything gives me terrible acid reflux because of the amount of pepper they use (and I can feel it too when I eat it) and I'm sick for two days after eating here. It's really a shame. Why can't they just let customers add pepper to taste? Incredibly sad.
Not bad of a place to have a bite but in can get s little bit pricey! I'm not sure if it's because of covid or they are just high on the price. For starters i order the snapper bites which could of had use a little seasoning on the batter. The tarter sauce really good and different from others that i have try on my travelings and do is their cocktail sauce. For My main meal i order their fish sandwich which indeed had flavor on it and it wasn't as bad. My wife order the shrimp linguini which was overwhelming with garlic. Talk about having belching after eating it cause her to taste her dinner thru the evening and the next morning. I ate 2 of her shrimps and a spoonful of her noodles and it made me taste it thru the evening also. 😄😄😄. To top of my lunch i order a michelada which i wasnt really happy about it, about 9 dollars for it is not worth it. The service could really use alot more improvement, but i will give them a second chance. Their outdoor seating is really great and have decor around it. You can tell that the owner does care for his customers compare to other places that i have visited and they have those cheap tents
You go here for the atmosphere and drinks, as the food is okay. I've been multiple times, and I have never had a 'great' meal, especially one plated hot. The bar has a lot of action, lots of people drinking, but I wish their dishes featuring fish tasted better.
I had heard great things about this restaurant. We had to make a reservation a week in advance to eat here. We were disappointed in the food. It could be that we lived in the New Orleans area for many years and are used to flavorful food. We got the blackened shrimp tacos, spicy fish sandwich, the stuffed cheese bread and my son got the fried fish, shrimp and chips. The blackened shrimp tacos- the tortillas were homemade so that was great, but they loaded it so full of slaw and other stuff that I could barely taste the shrimp. Not great. The spicy sandwich was just okay. The bread was soggy. The fried fish and shrimp was so covered with thick batter that it took away from the actual fish and shrimp. The garlic fries were okay but too stringy. The lemon cheesecake was good and the peanut butter pie was good. We probably won’t go back because we didn’t like the food. The service was great. Very attentive waitress. Overall it was an okay experience but the price was so high and the food wasn’t worth it.
Made a reservation a week ahead checked in 30 mins. early because I know how busy this place gets and was told to wait for a text to be seated. Waited an hour or more. I just kept seeing walkins get seated before us as we waited in the waiting area until I got fed up and went to ask. They claimed they had been calling us for awhile but I received zero texts or calls that our table was ready. Only one text an hour before our reservation to confirm if we were still coming. We came back because we were a fan long before the pandemic. After tonight this place isn’t what it used to be. The food was really bland. The only thing flavorful on my plate was the side dish of hoisin brussel sprouts with bacon. I think the only real attraction here is the bar because it was so crowded.
First off let me start off by saying our server was GREAT! Celebrating our 5th year anniversary and decided to come here based on the reviews. We order the Rockefeller oysters as the appetizer which were phenomenal! But we’re disappointed by the entrees. My fiancée order the ultimate combo Louie which was lacking flavor and a few extra condiments she ordered. And I ordered the seafood pasta which was lacking a lot of flavor and didn’t give an upscale restaurant experience like that advertised. And we also ordered the snapper which was extremely overcook, overpriced, and under-seasoned. I’ve never had to shake the salt and pepper shaker like I’ve had to tonight. Extremely disappointing, if I’d ever to return it would be for the wood grilled oysters.
The atmosphere was ok but the scallops were bad. They tasted like pure ammonia so clearly the bacteria had set in. Be cautious of what you order... it might haunt you later.
I hate writing negative reviews, but I didn't enjoy the food here. The clam chowder was desent, but the other dishes attached were mediocre at best. I didn't like the fish and chips particularly. It tasted like frozen fish and had a bland flavor. Our server recommended the fish and chips and had good things to say about it but in the end they were not for me. The atmosphere was excellent and the tropical tea was great. However, in the end the food was disappointing.
Went in with no reservation and wait time was 50-70 minutes. No problem waiting an hour for a table. wait turned into 1 hour 50 minutes and still no table to be seated. This experience has ru…
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The table was filthy, the high chair was disgusting, and basic cleanliness was clearly not a priority. Service was rude from the start, with an attitude that made it obvious we were not welcome. No apology, no effort to fix anything, just indifference. When you’re dining with a child, cleanliness and basic courtesy matter. Unfortunately, Pismo Coastal Grill failed on both. We left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to families or anyone expecting decent service.
Very disappointed - ordered a beet/goat cheese salad and a side of salmon for dinner. The salad came out in a bowl the size of a small soup bowl, so small that the salmon had to be served on a side plate! Hmmm. Yet the salad was dinner price $23 and so I paid a total of $38 and left hungry. What a rip off. After checking there wasn't some mistake with the waitress, she commented "oh yeah sorry, they are doing that now" doing what? Charging $23 for a small side salad?? Lastly, and most dissapointing of all, I contacted the restaurant and received.... no reply. Will absolutely not be back to Pismo's. Pismo's had gone downhill and has had its day. This wouldn't happen at Max's or Yosemite ranch or Saison.
I absolutely love this place however, I recently Ordered the appetizer calamari to go. As I checked the order before we left, there were no condiments. I said to the young lady does it not come with water, crest and radishes and she looked at me as though really, She took the to go container went over to the kitchen. I saw her speaking to another gal who turned to look at me and this is what I got one sliver of radish and a pinch of water crest. This was $20.59. I figured paying that much. I’d have better customer service and a bit more condiments with my food but Pismo when you hire people like that blonde girl young one or let’s say young people at least ask if they’ve had customer service experience that tends to help out of business love the place, but you gotta rethink these younger people who have no experience in customer service. It was terrible. Well I come back. Yes, I will.
Waited forever for drinks, had to go back to correct order once. then another 20 min til she came and got orders Appetizer was calamari. The lemons were burnt. Only 1 slice of fried jalapeno. Chewy over breaded strips only. Not a single tentacle. Half the size it used to be. Meals. My daughter in law like her seafood pasta. But it had shrimp - shaped objects that clearly were not shrimp. My daughter ordered the lettuce wraps. It was a wedge of ice berg served with tiny pieces of fried seafood. Hard and cold. Also really hard to wrap after the first wrap took the only wrap sized piece of lettuce. I ordered the crab cake club with does. Shoestring potatoes cold and hard. From the get go. The crab cake was soft and smooshy. No flavor, no fry, no discernible crab. Needed a mountain of salt to taste anything. Could not finish. Couldn’t eat fries at all. My friend ordered the calamari steak with the Brussels sprouts. Sprouts were cold, limp, soggy. The steak was ok. The meal was no where near the quality or quantity it used to be. Turned a looked forward to family lunch into a disappointment. Waitress asked it we wanted to go containers. We said no thanks, it was nasty. Not an apology or any attempt to discern what was wrong.
