I stumbled upon this restaurant while scrolling through Instagram, and it immediately caught my attention. It’s pretty rare to find Vietnamese restaurants featured on the Michelin Guide, but this spot has earned a place on the OC Michelin Guide for several years. I’ve been obsessed with Vietnamese food lately so I’ve been making quite a few trips to the Little Saigon area and this visit did not disappoint. Garlic and Chives is tucked inside the Mall of Fortune, alongside other well-known spots like OC Lau2, Pholover, and 85°C. Unfortunately, many smaller shops in the mall have closed, so it’s not as lively as it once was, but these popular restaurants and bakeries still manage to draw a crowd. As soon as we were seated and started to look the menu, the first thing I noticed was their special selection of dishes featured on the Michelin Guide in 2019, 2021, and 2022, a pretty impressive feat. I also browsed through the menu while scrolling IG for recommendations and came across the Heo Quay Porchetta with Fine Rice Vermicelli. I tried to order it, but the server called out the chef to explain that this dish requires four hours of preparation and needs to be pre-ordered. Of course, I had unknowingly chosen something that wasn’t even available. What We Ordered: 1. House Special Pork Chops $16 One of their Michelin Guide dishes! The pork chops are marinated in a unique house-made sauce that’s a perfect balance of salty and sweet. For my taste, it leaned a little salty, but pairing it with the white rice made every bite just right. 2. Salmon Belly Chien Gion $12 This appetizer features crispy fried salmon belly served over a bed of fresh salad. The portion isn’t huge, but the fish is perfectly fried and pairs beautifully with the dipping sauce. 3. Grilled Blood Clams (So Long Nu Ong Mo Hanh) $15 Served sizzling on a hot plate, these blood clams are chewy and packed with flavor. 4. Black Tiger Garlic Noodles (Mi To I Tom Xu Nuong) $16 I’ve had a similar dish at Vox Kitchen before, and this version was just as good. The shrimp was plump and juicy, while the noodles had a rich garlic flavor and came in a generous portion, super satisfying. 5. Hot Tea $2 (each person) Simple, comforting, and a nice balance to the richer dishes. From the ambiance to the flavors and service, Garlic and Chives delivered a solid dining experience and I will come back and try some more. 📍 Garlic and Chives 9892 Westminster Blvd. #311, Garden Grove, CA 92844

Garlic and Chives is a top tier place to go to for great food in a great environment! The food reminds me of the good food that they serve at night in Vietnam where you go out with lots of friends to drink and eat. Every dish we ordered came out quick and hot! They dishes looked like it was made with love and the presentation is top notch. We ordered the ginger lobster at $34/lb. They said the minimum was 3 lbs. if you are looking for less costly lobster, I would not come here. The service was great and the atmosphere is very clean! The owners take great pride in making g the place well decorated. This place does stand out when compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. If you are looking for high end, this is the place to come to. I will definitely come back again for a special occasion.

Small restaurant within the Fortune Shopping strip mall. The food is very tasty!! It's Vietnamese food with a modern twist. All the dishes were well seasoned and nicely portioned. Highly recommend the paper rice salad and salmon belly summer roll! The server was really sweet. There's a wide selection of seafood dishes. Think atmosphere can use a makeover. Foodwise, it was delicious!!

If you're of a weak lineage and MSG gives you "headaches", probably don't eat here. Everything is plated well. Like every good Asian place, the food speaks for itself. I didn't really need service because the food was amazing. The blood clams fall right off the shell and taste amazing with the fish sauce they give you. The greens and chunky garlic were perfect and not greasy. It was a great complement dish to eat with the clams and other meat dishes we ordered. I saw them bring out the lobster and I wish I had ordered that because the portion size for it looked huge. I honestly don't think this place is fusion, I think it's just full Vietnamese but they play classical music in the background. Most of the time I was eating, they had the Harry Potter, Goblet of Fire soundtrack playing so I wasn't even mad 🔥

Came in on New Year’s Day and there was no wait and empty tables. Food is flavorful with a good price tag. My favorite was the Pomelo Salad which just had an different flavor profiles with each bite. The filet mignon was a tad too salty for my taste. And the razor clams were a hit at our table. Didn’t know they were Michelin star! Good food and people. Tipi is already included in the receipt. Love small restaurants! Other reviews say there is a wait, I would maybe go on an off day. Would return !

Great modern interpretation of Vietnamese favorites. The honey chicken wings were probably the favorite. Nemnungs were decent. Ribs were nice although it was a little drier than how I prefer. The noodle dishes were excellent. Nice service. Reasonable prices.

Wow, what a gem. If it was reviewed by Jonathan Gold, you know you won’t be disappointed. We had a party of eight, and here’s what we ordered: Deep fried salmon belly X2, Shaken filet mignon w/whole garlic X2, Blood clams, Green papaya beef jerky salad, Pomelo salad, Fried rice with fish, Charbroiled colossal black tiger shrimp garlic noodles, Caramelized cat fish, chow fun-type noodles with beef. Everything was excellent. Staff communication with customer is not great (we were waiting at the door for 5 min without anyone talking to us or telling us what to do), but still nice people.

How this place only earns a 4.2 is again beyond me. Simply put - the food is excellent here! This location is the original & more down home, simple & busy. I love the frenetic atmosphere & the authentic feel of diners enjoying this food with the waiters rushing by with steaming plates of food that I always say that I'll try the next time, but I always end up with my "go to" favorites. What you get & I'd point out that being Michelin reviewed for several years & Johnathon Gold's 101 favorite restaurants (RIP) is that for the money you spend here you get a fabulous value. I call it "Michelin reviewed quality & Panera Bread/Applebee Prices". Seriously, everything on the menu is sooo good & from my experiences very consistent. If you're looking for a very nice casual meal, this place should seriously be considered. Enjoy your day & happy eating!

We ordered the lobster special and omg it’s so good and flavorful. The noodles were well cooked and covered in this garlic sweet sauce it’s amazing. The lobster itself is on another level, plenty of meats to eat we were very satisfied hehe. I would recommend trying it with friends and family :) Along with that we ordered the lotus salad mix and the fish sauce dressing was perfect! Not too sweet not too salty :3 Highly recommend this place.

I think, the best part is the variety of spring rolls which come with different sauces. The one with salmon is nice because of the roasted flavor. The ahi tuna one is great because of the light wasabi sauce. The goat curry was flavorful and the fresh bread was a nice variant. Next time, I would probably go more with chicken. I always forget that goat comes with bones. The great thing about the curry was that it had just the right amount of spicyness, a full bowl, and it was very light and not heavy on cream.

It's not your typical Vietnamese food. Whatever it is, it's amazing. We've been here over 6 or 7 times in the last 3 months. We've taken our friends and our families and no one has been disappointed. So far everything has tasted sublime. In short, you will not be disappointed.

Garlic & Chives is a charming new addition to the Garden Grove Mall of Fortune which delivers a modern spin to Vietnamese - South East Asian Cuisine that is tasty, garlicky but also very affordable at the same time. The decor is very warm & inviting as well; the service is very attentive compared to other restaurants in this area. This restaurant is family owned & ran by the the owner Kristin, also owns Binh Dan Restaurant which has been opened for more than 20 years. Kristin listens to customers' feedback about the food because her passion for food transfers to keeping her customers happy & this is why customers continue to come to this quaint little restaurant. Papaya Salad with Octopus: 5 stars If you like papaya salad then you will enjoy this dish, this salad is drizzled with fish sauce & a touch of lime. Chopped Thai basil is mixed with the papaya & a topping of fried onions perfectly compliments this dish. 5 stars Salmon Belly: 5 stars This dish is a customer favorite because the salmon belly is very soft & tender with a crispy outer batter that is lightly salty which fully compliments the dipping sauce. 5 stars Salmon Clay-pot w/ Broken Rice: 4 stars This dish is similar to the salmon belly except it was on a sizzling plate with vegetables & garlic & had a side of broken rice. I think a thick sauce drizzled on top of this dish would have made it better rather than just a light dipping sauce that was on the side. Overall, this dish was tasty.

Friendly, helpful service; innovative menu. Well-prepared, excellent food. There are many great restaurants in Garden Grove - even right there in the Mall of Fortune that houses Garlic and Chives - but this one shouldn't be missed. I might drop the rating half a star, if I could, for not serving traditional Vietnamese coffee, but besides that the place is first rate.

Came here on a Sunday night around 8PM and the wait wasn't too bad! The service was awesome, servers were super nice and attentive. They also give you some fried garlic edamame and it tastes soooo good! I got the Rotisserie Chicken and Clay Pot RIce and it was super tasty. It came with half a chicken which tasted slightly sweet and tender when you dip it in the sauce they give you. With this dish, they give you a good amount of veggies as well. My friend and I also ordered the garlic fries, which were just okay. It did not has as much garlic in it and tasted more like cajun fries. Overall, this was an amazing meal! Definitely would recommend coming here! :)

Wow! Michelin rated and in my old stomping grounds? Yes please! I had only heard about garlic and chives but never had the opportunity to go. Our friends came to visit and had this earmarked to try. Perfect! The wait time (if you put your name on the list a little earlier) was very short (5 minutes)! There were so many different foods to choose from that I started to go thru choice fatigue :,(. That led me to use my other two senses (sight and intuition) to lead me to my choice: the sticky rice with Chinese sausage, egg, and shredded pork. The wait was a little long for the food, but when the meal came out, it was more than worth the wait. The food came out on a wonderfully seasoned cast iron (you got me sold if you show me a well seasoned iron) and was still sizzling. How do I know it was well seasoned? WELL, the sticky rice was only sticking to itself and NOT the pan. The fun interplay of sticky crispy rice with the pork floss, egg, and Chinese sausage was nothing short of amazing. I would order this any again, no question. If you’re in the area, you will not be disappointed!! Let’s go!!

We’ve been going here every year the past 3 years on vacation. It is still among my FAVORITE restaurants anywhere. Excellent foods and services. The garlic fries are the best fries in the world. Despite of COVID, this place is still super busy. And you can see why. Food here is awesome. We ordered 13 dishes (and there's only 5 adults and 3 kids in our party), and all of them went to our happy tummies. The food came out pretty quick and service was great. All in all, its a great place for family dinner or if you want some authentic Asian food.

This is a Michelin-star restaurant. All the dishes are delicious. Vietnamese and American food is carefully prepared and beautifully presented, with good service. As Vietnamese people, when you meet, you often drink together. Beer is available here, and you can easily enjoy it, but the food is both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. With a plate of crab stir-fried with tamarind and a plate of beefsteak. My Vietnamese friend and I had a meeting full of Vietnamese identity after a long time. We will save this address and want everyone to come and share smiles and enjoy food

Wow! It has Michelin stars for a reason! Great food is all about sauces and seasoning that elevates food. That’s Garlic & Chives. Fried salmon belly (so crispy), salmon roll with tamarind sauce (great compliment), crispy fried tofu (not a dull moment), razor clams, and Hanoi vermicelli (not only very different but the patties and broth were explosive). I always try many dishes and none disappointed here. The most likely “fail” suspect was fried tofu and I’d order it again. The atmosphere is nothing special, but it’s fine and the “crab boil” setup is actually nice for friends and family vibe. This could be an expensive high end restaurant with the food they are serving and yet it’s very affordable.

Where do I start? This place is amazing. The interior is amazing. Very sophisticated and worth every penny for every dish and appetizers. The service is amazing staff is polite and friendly. You feel like family coming here. This is a vietnamese fusion cuisine. So be expecting your tastes buds to be screaming for joy when you take a bite of your plate. Their salmon is so good and crispy. Their garlic rice Is perfect. The filet mignon is my ultimate favorite the flavors combine with the sauce lord mercy you just fall right into a coma and to think you died and was resurrected. Its amazing. My family and I always come here. Defiently recommend to all who come here, totally worth the experience

Probably the best wings I've had and I know a thing or two about those. The checked all the the flavor boxes that you could desire in terms of great wings. They don't call them holy crunch for no reason. They were wholeheartedly crunchy, sweet savory and spicy. they weren't overly salty like you get a lot of places and greatly appreciated that. The crunchy salmon (especially the rolls) were top notch. Like the brodard ones but with crispy salmon! It is seasosoned similar to calamari. My wife and Iloved all the dishes we ordered they are reasonably priced but make sure you check before as there is usually a wait.

Garlic and Chives at 9892 Westminster Blvd. #311, Garden Grove, located in the Mall of Fortune, is a top-tier spot for incredible Vietnamese food in a lively and welcoming setting. The moment you step in, you’re greeted with a bustling, energetic vibe, reminiscent of the late-night food culture in Vietnam, where people gather to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. The food here is bursting with flavor, expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and bold seasonings. Some standout dishes include their crispy salmon belly, garlic butter wings, and shaken beef—each dish perfectly balanced in taste and texture. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a feast with friends, the menu has something for everyone. Service is quick and attentive, and the portion sizes are generous, making it a great value for the quality you get. If you're looking for a place that brings the spirit of Vietnamese dining to life, Garlic and Chives is a must-visit in Garden Grove! 🍽️🇻🇳🔥

The food is just ok, nothing is outstanding. But very good service. The tables are divided and separated by the large size of clear plastic walls. I don’t like the butter fried chicken and crunchy salmon belly, they were too much greasy. I love shredded dried beef papaya salad, so delicious. The hot stone pot with pork is good with rice. The fried tofu is boring. Honestly maybe I didn’t order the right plates, our dinner were not as we expected.

Garlic and Chives is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the OC area. Restaurant, including the restrooms is clean. Service is prompt and courteous. Lots of parking available in the plaza lot. We have been lucky to come at times when they are not that busy, but I imagine that they would get pretty packed during peak hours. As for the food, everything on their menu is great. We only wish that they also served pho, simply because we love pho and thats literally the only thing that they are missing! Yes, there are tons of pho places in the area, but if they added it to their menu, it would be heaven as all our favorite Vietnamese dishes would be served in one restaurant! Only reason for subtracting one star is due to the price compared to the size of the dishes. You can actually see how the prices keep being increased as there are price stickers stacked on top of each other on their menu. *Cries in California*

The papaya salad was very bright and fun and paired great with the crispy (shrimp?) chips. I just wish there was more chips. Loved the bo luc lac and how saucy it was. The garlic noodles were... kinda unremarkable and felt very one dimensional. Service was fine and we enjoyed our time here. Definitely get the salmon belly. So amazingly crispy and flavorful! Taste :4.4/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:4.1/5 Garlic and Chives is located at the Brookhurst Place Shopping Center, next to the 22 freeway. The restaurant has a casual and cozy atmosphere, with wooden tables and chairs, colorful paintings on the walls, and a large menu board. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is quick and efficient. You can order online or by phone, or dine in if you prefer. One of the highlights of Garlic and Chives is their mango salad, which is one of their signature dishes. The mango salad is made with shredded green mango, carrots, onions, cilantro, peanuts, fried shallots, and a tangy dressing. It is served with crispy shrimp crackers and grilled pork skewers. The salad is refreshing, crunchy, and sweet, with a hint of spiciness from the dressing. The shrimp crackers add a nice contrast of texture and flavor, and the pork skewers are tender and smoky. You can also choose from other salads on their menu, such as papaya salad, lotus root salad, or banana blossom salad.

Wonderful impulse dinner. Clay pots are worth it more than I'd say the noodle dish I got. The pork belly is tender and delicious. The sauce was perfect, and the rice had a nice crisp to it. The noodle dish was a bit on the dry side and lighter in flavor, but tasty and filling none the less. Service was on point even with a language barrier and even helped us with the name pronunciation. If I had to rate out of ten, I'd say 8.5 for the noodles and 9 for the pork. Definitely stop in.

A nice clean restaurant competing with OC and Lau next door. The grilled scallops were tasty but very small scallops so fairly pricey. The vegetable on choy with pork belly and snail was a disappointment as the snail was over cooked and very chewy and there was not very much fat pork and the shrimp paste was not good with the snail slices. The fried toothpick lamb was well seasoned with a nice cumin taste but was also a bit too overfried taking away tenderness and moisture, but a good portion. View my pictures

So amazingly crispy and flavorful! come early when they open for lunch to avoid the long line. don't bother going to dinner because there's always a long wait. big menu with a good variety of dishes. good food and affordable as well. good garlic noodles with shrimp. the noodle soups are good, too.

So many great looking things on the menu we couldn't decide what to order. Ended up ordering the jerky salad, salmon belly, and blood clams. Salad did not have jerky and salmon belly pieces were smaller than expected. But everything was tasty especially the clams. I will definitely be returning.

Came early right when they open for my birthday getaway. Walked and we seated ourself. Staff was nice although they couldn’t really speak English well. We manage to order our food. Food was good. Love the garlic and black pepper taste on the food. Food was cooked with a lot of butter. This was my only complaint. Other than that, I enjoyed the food.

This is Vietnamese fusion cuisine. Be prepared to wait for a table, there is nearly always a crowd of mostly college aged patrons..with a few older folks (like me 😉) waiting to get in. The menu is pretty extensive: there are soups, rice and noodle based dishes as well as seafood and grilled items. I do not understand why they put their daily specials board tucked up high on a wall out of view of most diners..not why the wait staff sometimes neglect to inform you of the specials. At any rate, the majority of their food is pretty good. I recommend the lamb appetizer with garlic and spicing. While oddly it does not taste strongly like lamb, it is still good. I would avoid the deep fried salmon, first off, anything deep fried is never fresh, and in this case the salmon tastes previously frozen. Frying does it no favor. Their grilled and spices pork ribs are very nice, as is their salmon and crispy rice. Prices are pretty reasonable here. Service is fine, but not spectacular.

Overall: 3.8/5 (dine in) Garlic & Chives had a few features so we were excited to try this place but it ended up being disappointing. Their menu is pretty extensive so maybe we didn't get the 'right' items. Toothpick Lamb Skewers ($14): This was good at first but then the meat got drier as time went by. It also got annoying taking the lamb off the toothpicks halfway through. Caramelized Peppered Pork Belly ($15): Would not get again. The pork belly was mostly fat and it was not caramelized. The rice was good with the sauce so we mixed them together. The side pickled vegetables were not good so we didn't eat them.

This place is good, and our food was tasty. I feel like I did not know what to order, their seafood seems to be popular, and I feel I did a dis-service by not venturing out and ordering their popular plates. I encourage anyone else to venture out and try their different plates, I wish I did. Next time I will make sure to do so.

Great food! The lamb chops were delicious, as were the wings and baked clams. Great service too. The only thing keeping me from five stars was that our main entrees came out at different times; three initially then two then the last two...probably 10 to 15 apart. I'll definitely be going back. They also offered a discount on our large party bill if we paid cash. Unfortunately I didn't have cash handy. Prices were reasonable though!

Enjoyed it. Asian fusion food. Ordered Goat curry, turmeric fish, and a pork rib dish. The turmeric fish was the best, the goat curry was good, the pork ribs were somewhat overcooked. But very reasonably priced for the experience and I'm sure the variability in the dishes is a feature considering it is a fusion experience. Attentive staff and service was quick. Of course, being during Covid times, they probably had far fewer customers than is normal, but probably have fewer staff as well. Overall good value experience and one to do again for sure.

Food is usually always great but sometimes they can be inconsistent which is other guest complain when they come in. For anybody who wants to go here during the lunch and evening hours always be ready a line but always make sure to reserve ahead on Yelp. When I came here with a party 5, 2 of us had the same plate of their shaken beef or filet Mignon plate and each plate was all different. One plate wasn't good at all while my plate being the best tender and juicy. Other then that the food is usually great.

Long wait times, but it's typically worth it, because the food is very good. Most dishes we tried, whether it was salads or spring rolls or noodles - were all delicious. The one dish I wouldn't recommend was shrimp on skewers. I struggled to remove shells, heads and tails, only to find out that the meat part was not fresh and mushy. Had to send it back. But other than that I would recommend this place to anyone due to a wide variety of dishes offered.

Really yummy stuff. Ordered the fried tofu, stir-fried green beans, and the crunchy pan fried noodles. Was satisfied with all three; true to the restaurant's name, heavy use is made of garlic and chives, to delicious effect! My only gripe is that the serving sizes were a bit on the small side.

P
Pon praseutsack

When there foe dinner with a friend. Had their main "stir fry lobster", garlic fries, garlic wings, and salad with tune. I personally would not recommend the stir fry lobster because they said it was 3.5 lbs but my lobster plate didn5look like or tasted like 3.5 lbs for $65. All the food tasted great but the lobster was definitely not worth the price. I would still highly recommend the food BUT stay away from the flashy and expensive plates. Go there if you have the area.

In front of the restaurant there are tables and chairs. Make sure to write your name on the clipboard, located on the table outside. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated on a weekday night. ~Drinks~ I got the Fresh Coconut drink, it was refreshing. ~Food~ We got complimentary soy beans marinated with garlic. When it was time to order we got two garlic fried rice. It was very garlicky and had dry garlic pieces. The Bo Luc Lac is filet Mignon with garlic. It was cooked medium well and very tender. I liked the flavor of the onions. What I was looking forward to was the Canh Ga Chien Gion which is fried and crispy chicken wings with garlic sauce. It was sweet and flavorful. The Goi Cuon Ca Salmon is salmon belly roll (4 pieces) that came with mint, cucumber, vermicelli, tamarind sauce and rolled in rice paper. We couldn't really taste the salmon. ~Customer Service~ Quick and friendly. We spoke to Theresa who is the Manager, she is very nice. ~Notes~ ~Parking lot ~Indoor seating

Love this place!. Be prepare to a wait for lunch and dinner rush hour. Great traditional with a modern twist Vietnamese family style food. Can't go wrong with any of their dishes.

They have a good selection of modern Vietnamese food that isn't too wild or too fusion. A family friendly restaurant with decent prices. Only issue is there's too many seats which makes walking a little difficult and the plaza it's in isn't a very good location.

E

I love their Garlic noodles because I have tried many other garlic noodles and they by far have my favorite. When I went recently they tasted a little different/strange so I was kind of disappointed but then again I if I go there another time again it might be better. It probably just depends on who the cook is and how experienced they are in cooking and following the recipes. Also I think they could work on is the atmosphere/look because it does looks sort of dirty. I think it would be amazing to see them get a new interior design look and color. I hope they'll see this and make sure their cooks make sure they get the recipe right. I do like the Salmon with the House Special Sauce I recommend getting that and the garlic noodles but just be aware of the garlic noodle taste because again it depends who makes it.

Garlic and Chives in Garden Grove, CA, absolutely lives up to its Michelin Guide recognition (2019, 2021, 2022). This Asian fusion spot brings big flavors and inventive twists to each dish, making it a standout in Orange County’s food scene. The salmon belly was a highlight—fresh, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. For fried rice lovers, the Fried Rice with Salted Fish & Shrimp is a must-try: fragrant, savory, and loaded with umami. The Lotus Root Salad offers a refreshing crunch and balance with every bite. And don’t miss the Black Tiger Shrimp on Garlic Noodles—the noodles are silky and rich, soaking up all the garlicky goodness while the shrimp remain juicy and sweet. Garlic and Chives delivers on both taste and creativity, earning its Michelin nods with every plate. Highly recommended.

This is an awesome place for Vietnamese food. The decor is quite modern and clean. The food is really good, and the price is so reasonable. When you sit down, they give you a free order of garlic edamame. The service is great, and they accept credit card.

All the dishes were very tasty but maybe too tasty as I suspect a lot of salt and our MSG as I've never been so thirsty. Service was friendly and prompt. I would rank the dishes I ordered 1. Sea Snails $15 - very meaty 2. Clams $16 - bit sweet but flavorful 3. On choy (rau muốn xào tỏi) $17 - small portion for the price 4. Razor clams $16 - Very small portion Recommend you eat everything while they're hot/warm. After it cools down it gets very rubbery and firm.

I like their cuisine, it is usually good but today I was disappointed by the clamps (very spicy and overcooked, good part is that they gave me a discount, thank you). The main problem was the crab: it is not written anywhere in the menu that it is a 2 person dish and it is 58 USD (!!!) - very bad surprise at the end for the bill. Suggestion = please make a better description on the menu and put at least a price range.

Had a late night dinner here with my sons last week (Aug 9, 2024). The food was generally good, and the service was acceptable. However, my order of "Sticky Rice w. Chinese Sausage, Eggs, Shredded Pork" ("Xôi lạp xưởng trứng chà bông") was a huge turn-off: the lạp xưởng (Chinese sausage) reeked of a rancid taste. I'm not sure why, since I expect a good turn-over such that those sausages shouldn't be on the shelf for too long; perhaps they got a bad batch? In any case, although the boys enjoyed their meal, mine was ruined. I did let the waitress know, and she seemed concerned, but nothing came of it at the end, as I also let it go, leaving the rest of the sausages untouched. Kristin, if you're real and still in charge: do frequent quality control - your patrons pay for this.

This is the 2nd time I went there with another person, and neither of us were impressed. It was average or below average. Pork belly appeared to be a little old, chicken wings lacked a distinct flavor, filet mignon was good. Was the value worth the money spent, in my opinion it was not. Service was good, restroom not super clean but good enough.

M

Been here about 10 times. Most of the time the food has been good but the quality seems to have gone down the last few times. Today I ordered the garlic toothpick lamb, the garlic green beans, and the fried tofu. The toothpick lamb appetizer portion was smaller and about 25% of the total meat on the toothpick lamb were fat. The garlic green beans were old, dry, and some of it was stringy. The fried tofu was good so it wasn't a total loss but could not redeem the overall poor experience with the decline in food quality.

First time here. Honestly I wasn't impressed. The food here wasn't mind blowing at all maybe I don't have enough depth past pho for Vietnamese food. Like one review said earlier the server did not mention daily specials....which was rather odd. The table I sat in was very shifty and didn't stay in place so that was annoying. As for the food itself it wasn't bad at all... But not worth the wait.

Came at 3 to avoid the lunch and dinner crowds. I wasn't impressed by the food considering the high ratings posted. Both the chicken wings and the fried salmon belly were dry. Sea snails were somewhat flavorless and could've used more garlic butter. The remaining dishes weren't really memorable and service was as expected from an Asian restaurant.

This place serves some not so commonly found vietnamese seafood, bbq style. They have razor clams, which are not that common in LA and few places serve these clams. They are also not usually sold in markets. Everything I ordered were decent, but the portions are too small for the price. All the food in the pictures (7 dishes) were for 4 people, and I was still very hungry afterwards. The basil clams was disappointing however. Many other restaurants can make just as good, if not better, basil clams using larger manila clams at the same price. The razor clams were good, but I would still prefer it steamed with garlic and vermicelli (more of a chinese style to cook them) as it preserves more of the fresh natural juices and flavors from the clams. The scallops tastes good, but very tiny. The snails were decent, although the taste was on the lighter side. If you want decent vietnamese style seafood but a lighter appetite, this would be a good place as there aren't too many restaurant choices serving the same flare.

Michelin Guide recognized for multiple years in the past. I'm missing something here because my dining experience was not as expected given the high ratings. Upon entering, we noticed an extremely strong, fishy smell, like fish sauce. Surprisingly, there was no wait on a Saturday night. We were promptly seated and order taken within a timely manner. Food arrived to the table fairly quick, too. Our meal consisted of: •Salmon belly chien gion/deep fried salmon belly: ok •Muc lan bot/deep fried calamari: too oily, low quality •Rau cai be cuon with tom, thit: refreshing, different take on a goi cuon but without the noodles or spring roll wrap •Canh cai chua suon/pickled mustard greens soup with pork bones: too sweet, meat questionable •Rau muong xao oc huong/stir fried ong choy with sea snails: small portion, too sweet, sea snails too tough and hard None of the entrees came with white rice. It was an additional $3 per bowl. We didn't enjoy our meal at all. It was one of the most disappointing meals we've had.

It had a 2019 Michelin mention. What went wrong!! Did ownership changed? Did the chef changed? We ordered three dishes and every one of them were blah or just sad. I seldom give bad reviews. Mostly because I do try to get restaurants before I go there. I think the previous owner must have cashed out and didn’t give the secret ingredient or technique for the recipes. Please do better.

Say and watched the operations of the restaurant for 40 minutes while waiting for the food 2 orders of the same pho..... Which literally only needed them to make the broth as everything cooks in the broth .... Watched the 2 women working there run around while the male working delivered plates to tables one at a time so people eating in the restaurant were waiting on plate after plate or eating while everyone else at the table waited for the next plate probably hoping it was theirs if they waited as long as we did.... I don't understand how this place has all these awards on their walls of they run the place like this.

M

So disappointing....waited 30 minutes just to get our first dish, escargot with garlic. Everything was too sweet. How did they not know how to make a basic ginger, garlic dipping sauce??? Felt like I was dipping into sugar syrup. Even the sauce for the Thai hot pot was too sweet. Cheap meatballs and potatoes added to hot pot.

I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and very disappointing. We arrived at 6 pm and it wasn't that crowded but it took more than 20 minutes for the server to come and get our order. We ordered wings and fries as appetizers But the appetizer came out after most of the main dishes which is kinda annoying. Food is mediocre. It cost almost 150 for three people and we aren't even full. This would be my first and last time here. Wouldn't recommend it.

I ordered the different dishes, so that I could have a variety of taste. The protein was chewy and not soft at all. I had chicken curry and beef garlic noodles and it was rubbery. It did not taste like the protein was cooked together. The sauce for the curry was delicious, but the protein did not work well with it being so hard and chewy.

R
Rachel Phương Lê

I've always passed by here and the wait time is ridiculous so I've never had a chance to try it. Everything we ordered was just mediocre, I've had better elsewhere. Nothing was memorable, if you call your restaurant garlic and chives, you need to incorporate more of it in the dishes...not just as a garnish. I barely taste any and a lot of their dishes didn't make the garlic and chives as the main star, it was very one note. Every sauce that was accompanied with our dishes were overly sweet. Not much of a good balance of flavor. Service was slow because they barely had anyone work there, probably 3 people that we saw =/ Good thing I tried this place when they just opened in the morning. If I had to wait, I'd he pissed off from the kind of food I got. Parking here is horrible and space is very small.

The food looks good but the taste was disappointing. Toothpick lamb was flavorful, however, half the dish was too chewy to eat. Fried salmon belly is good but after 4/5 bites, it feels too greasy; would be better if it’s paired with a salad. Filet and egg, the beef was supposed to be medium but it was received as well done; over cooked. Scallops, looks very pretty, but also over cooked. Garlic noodles and prawns tasted okay, would taste better if the restaurants cold air didn’t make the dish cold in less than 5 minutes. For $85 on 5 dishes and non-existent service; I would not return. Best part of the meal we’re the fresh drinks.

Please read this and other reviews! Do not waste your money and time! All the seafood were over cooked. The shrimp tasted like rubber. The noodle was super sweet it felt like eating sugar. The clay pot fish was sooo salty and tasted only soya source. They must have changed management or chefs. It is a joke if they are any remotely closer to a Michelin standard. I’d say fast food chains have better food🥵

The Chardonnay they served was utterly awful—flat, vinegar-tasting, and frankly insulting for a place that dares to claim fine dining status. What’s worse, the staff’s response to our complaint was we don’t know much about wine, as if we should just accept whatever substandard product they decided to serve. The lack of accountability and attention to detail was shocking, especially for a restaurant boasting a Michelin star.

We were seated quickly, we ordered 4 dishes, the Garlic Lobster (3,5lbs) Noodles was too sweet and salty; that dishes was charged $110. Chowfun (soft) was also sweet, I would add a few lemons drops to balance the taste. The Scallops with masago and glass noodles was just ok, nothing is outstanding. The steamed clams in Lemongrass was flavorless. I was so disappointed. Waste of money.

Unfortunately after waiting to be seated, we were ignored! Waited about 10 mins to be seated, expected as they were busy with only two wait staff as busser, host, and waiter. After being seated, we spent a few mins looking at the menu and was ready to order. Had a question about their signature crab dish. Kept on waiting, waiting since one of them told another table she does not take orders. Waiter kept going by, busy, but we tried to get her attention. She sat another table, went to do something else and came back to take their order. Oblivious we were there and been waiting though she sat us!!! So we got up and just left. Don’t care how good the food is, this experience already left a bad taste.

L
Leyna Pham

The food was honestly rather disappointing. The food was not plated well nor did it look appetizing. We ordered a dish with Salmon, some stir fried noodles, and garlic fries. The garlic fries were overpriced at $8 for a small amount that looked nothing like the menu image (ft. slender fries doused in garlic and spices). Instead we received what looked and tasted like trader Joe's frozen French fries with a minimal amount of seasoning. The stir fried dish was the one with shrimp and crab, it was BLAND and the salmon from the salmon dish did not look fresh. Would not eat here again and recommend avoiding it if you're thinking of stopping by out of curiosity. While the restaurant may look nice at a glance after sitting and eating here it was an absolute disappointment.

The service very bad. There were 3 ladies seving but only 1 active. No wonder restaurant is empty. The food very bad. Spices so strong cannot taste anything. Bad aftertaste. Tounge left numb. Michelin should go back and revoke their endorsements

Garden Grove: Un Mosaico Cultural y Gastronómico
