Delicious food, feels like a good home cooked meal. Owners are so friendly and nice and very attentive! Highly recommended
Good prices, great service, excellent food. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They want you to be satisfied. We had the tangerine chicken, and sweet/sour chicken lunch combos. We were very happy with them. They were so good!
Looking for that American Style Chinese food you remember when you were growing up? The one with the zodiac placemats and the Po Po Platter? Minus the place mats this is the spot. I celebrated my 48th birthday there today and couldn't be happier. The waitress was so nice. Couldn't have asked for a better early dinner.
First timer.. and I was amazed by the service and the food quality. Family owned and operated this family puts all their love into their food and you can just taste it 😋!! I order the szechuan beef and I ate every bite.
Going to Ta Chen was one of the most genuine and welcoming restaurants I have ever been to. We ordered take out on Christmas Eve. When I got there my food wasn't ready, so the owner (David) gave me some soup, water, and a cookie while I waited. He talked to me about being in business for 37 years and how the community of Garden Grove was wonderful. Both the customers before and after me knew David. And by the way, the food was good! What a find.
They have reasonably priced great food and friendly service. We each had the szechwan dinner. It came with hot and sour soup, egg roll, fried shrimp, wrapped chicken, and rice. We tried the orange chicken on recommendation of a friend and the moo shu pork. I like how they put scrambled egg in the rice. Each entree was enough for two.
Amazingly delicious food! Thanks David for your help and patience while we ordered!

The best chinese food in the world! You haveyou've everything is excellent. It is run by the nicest people I've ever met. I highly recommend it!
I love this place. It is so good and fresh and the owners are so sweet. I feel so welcome when I go there and they always take care of us. Best chinese food in town.
An absolute gem of a restaurant. The owners were incredibly welcoming and the food was to die for! Everything we had was excellent, especially the tangerine chicken and Ta Chen Chow Mein.
Great experience overall, the staff was very friendly, the food tastes great, and the orange chicken is especially delicious.
As a long time resident of the local area, been coming here for years. Same original owners and always the same excellent friendly service and food. Establishments like these needs to be protected at all costs. I know when they finally decide to retire, the restaurant will be going with them, which will be a sad day and loss for the local community. So I come here whenever I can to share a friendly smile and enjoy some Chinese food.
We were so surprised at the deliciousmess of the food. The space is small and unimpressive, but the food will keep us coming back!
as a first time customer, i was really happy with our visit. the owner was really attentive to us and made sure we had a good experience. the food was also really good; it tasted fresh. definitely coming back!
We tried this place for the first time and have to say the food was delicious. They have been in business for 40 years! The owner was very friendly. He guaranteed we would love our meal and he was right. The tangerine chicken and beef and broccoli were my favorite dish. Highly recommend you give them a try. I will be back again soon

Mr and Mrs Liu are the most welcoming restaurant owners we have encountered in recent memory , their hospitality is beyond and above . The food was fresh, delicious , and not oily or over salty , just perfect . They made our day, just lovely couple and restaurant!
Family owned and operated, this restaurant has delicious Chinese dishes with great servings and fantastic taste. Our favorites are the house fried rice, sweet and sour pork and broccoli beef! Great for take out and dine in experience!
I finally got to try Ta Chen. I read the reviews beforehand but I was between errands so I only got take out. I got the sweet and sour pork lunch plate and ordered extra egg rolls and egg flower soup. You could tell it wasn't some frozen stuff that they warmed up and threw sauce over. The sauce was more sweet than sour but soy sauce fixes everything 😁. The pork was a little bit overcooked but cooked through so that's okay. The egg rolls were basic veggie and the egg flower soup was piping hot, the way I like it. I can't wait to go back for a proper sit down meal. The restaurant reminds me of the old Chinese food places my parents would take us to in Hawaii wayyyy back when. No frills, no extravagance, just freshly made food eaten on Formica covered tables and upholstered benches. It's a tiny place but the woman that helped me was kind and may've been the owner. A good first time experience and alternative to the stuff they sell in those Chinese fast food places where everything tastes the same and costs too much.
Food is really good here, however , their sodas are over priced. $4.75 for a can of coke! Order to go or just get a water while you are in here. But that's my only complaint.

A real old-school Chinese restaurant family owned. The owner was very colorful and involved in service. The food was so so I did enjoy the puffed rice soup that was an interesting new experience for me. The actual meals themselves were not very special or anything I’ve actually had better at a cheaper restaurant.

Pork chow mein, Where's the pork? Where's anything but noodles? Wontons? Looks like something burned. What is it? 3 flavor ingredients. Specifically said no bamboo no bean sprouts. Had bamboo and so dried out. Was always my go to food and restaurant. Bye lost my business
The first time I ate here, a year ago, the food was good and the server was friendly. I was with a friend and craving a sit down, old school Chinese restaurant so we decided to visit today. What a mistake. We walked inside around 2pm and the place was empty. There were supplies stacked on two tables in the dining area and no employees in sight. We thought we came in before they opened, so we went outside and checked the hours for Saturday on the window: 12pm to 10pm. We walked back inside and waited some more. A woman walked in from the back door and seated us. Our food came out fairly quickly and we began to eat. We both ordered combos that had a large portion of rice, entree, egg roll and wonton. The food wasn't as good as I remembered, but it was still ok. About 10 minutes after bringing our food out to us, the waitress brought us our check. We put a credit card down and continued to eat our food. About five minutes after that, she took the payment, then brought back the receipt and some fortune cookies. She answered the phone and took a phone order, then came to our table and said "Lunch is over. Bye-bye." We were kind of surprised because we hadn't even been in the restaurant for 20 minutes. She said "We're closed for lunch, you need to leave so we can set up for dinner." She then took all of the plates off of the table (despite the fact that my friend was still eating) and then we left. It's been my experience that restaurants that close between lunch and dinner will have posted hours to indicate that. Even if it was a recent change, she should have told us they were closing in 20 minutes when she seated us.I will never return to this restaurant.
A man who claimed to be there 40 years, hassled me about me bringing in my Big Gulp soda, saying that the O.C. Health Department didn’t allow it, which I know for a fact isn’t true. I had the BBQ pork egg foo yung for $18.49, which didn’t include rice. They wanted to charge me an additional $3.50 for a side of rice!? It had a subtle bitter taste and used cheap vegetables like carrots, peas and celery. The service was bad because it was non-existent. I didn’t tip, which I only do when the service is terrible. I will never go there again.
