Way better than El Pollo Inka
Excellent Peruvian food, this is not a chain restaurant and it shows. Excellent service and in both Spanish and English. Reasonable prices for large portions. Not sure of the name of the dish but the steak was u believably tasty. A must go. They are open for lunch.
I went there to try Peruvian food, the food was good and the service was good too, the price was moderate, the place was clean and neat, I noticed that they started with fresh bread and the salsas had a spectacular flavor & traditional. The parking is free & available. Great experience
Excellent food and top notch service. Corazon skewers, seafood soup, pasta...every item had bright flavors. Jocelyn was a friendly and attentive server. She was able to bring us extra sauces and drinks even though the restaurant was packed. We look forward to returning soon
Wow this place was really amazing talk about a sudden find. I was going to Sam's Club for the first time across the street but I was very hungry and needed something to eat. I was so hungry that I knew I needed something nearby and across the street was this and one other place that I could actually eat at. I decided to try this place and I'm so glad that I did. The service was really great the woman who was our waitress was so nice. The food was amazing I got the rice combination and my partner got the Lomo saltado. Everything was just delicious. We are never in this area but maybe coming more due to Sam's Club and I would not hesitate to come back to this place.
We stopped by El Rocoto before heading to the Summer Nights 2025 Brandon Lake & Phil Wickham concert, and wow—what a perfect start to the evening! The Peruvian cuisine here is absolutely delicious—each dish was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection, and served with heart. From the fresh ceviche to the savory lomo saltado, every bite felt like a little celebration. Service was friendly, the vibe was welcoming, and it set the tone for a beautiful night ahead. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Peruvian food that hits the spot and then some!

I always get the oxtail fettuccine, it's soo good. Perfect creamy sauce and oxtails are perfectly seasoned. I just tired the passion fruit drink and wow! Highly recommend (non alcoholic)

I like the Peruvian food. We had the calamari, mixto criollo ceviche, Pollo Saltado, and Oxtail Fettuccine for the dinner. The food was a little too much for 3 of us. But everything was so delicious. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was good. We were able to make the reservation by phone. We will go back to try other menu soon.
The place is small, and if it gets buisy, you may fall between the other guests, the food though, great, love it, great flavor, decent portions. I'm not sure if it's better than the local favorite - Pollo inka since I haven't tried it in a while, but definitely worth coming back
Authentic Peruvian spot in the Daiso complex. Came here with a friend for dinner around 6pm on a Tuesday evening and there was no wait. Indoor dining only. They also have a private area where there was a birthday party happening. Credit cards accepted. They do serve alcohol and big groups can be accommodated. We got a spread of things, which included the fried yucca, potato croquettes, and ceviche exotica. The food overall was on the pricier side but it was a legitimate restaurant and the service was really nice. For the entree, we split the lomo saltado and the aji de gallina. The potato croquettes came in 2 and were quite large (and tasty). They also give complimentary bread with a green and a red sauce, both of which were quite flavorful. I think the lomo saltado was decent; the aji de gallina was on the sweeter side.

food is amazing, but the service sucks, it's been 10 minutes and no waiter has come over to get our drink orders, not to mention it not even being that busy. Nice atmosphere for bad service
Some of the best peruvian food you can get in SoCal. Service really depends here had good and bad service here before still the food makes up for that definitely a try if you're in the area.

The aji verde y rojo were good, but it was one of the worst ceviches I've ever had. I was passing by and remembered that it used to be one of the best ceviches in LA, but it was a disappointment... I don't think the ceviche juice was made with fresh lemon. I hope they return to the level they were at before.
Disappointing Experience – Not Authentic Peruvian Cuisine As a Peruvian, I was excited when I saw a menu featuring dishes from different regions of Peru. Naturally, I asked where the chef was from so I could choose a dish from their region (like arroz norteño). I was surprised to learn that none of the cooks are Peruvian. Their social media suggests otherwise, which feels misleading. I hoped they had at least been properly trained—but sadly, the experience didn’t meet expectations. This is what we ordered: 1. Arroz con Pollo – Very Bad Clearly pre-frozen and poorly reheated. Both chicken and rice were cold inside. Rice was soggy and bland, which is unacceptable for a dish where rice should shine. The Papa a la Huancaína was dry and old—the sauce was thick and crusted like cement. 2. Lomo Saltado – Just Okay Very oily, possibly made with low-quality oil. Edible, but not enjoyable. I didn’t finish it. 3. Tiradito Limeño – OK Fish was fine. The corn turned into "mote". Corn was overcooked and had the texture of cork. Additional Note: It’s disappointing that they don’t mention on their website that picarones are only available on weekends. We were looking forward to dessert, but left without it. Overall: Looks good on social media, but lacks real Peruvian flavor and authenticity. Hopefully they can improve with proper training or by hiring someone who truly understands Peruvian cuisine.
I want to start off by saying I know food is never going to the same as it does in your home country. Now, the food is VERY mid and definitely does not go in hand with prices they have. I had anticucho de corazon, chicha sour and tallarines verdes con carne (the last item I got to go) just those three items came up to 70 dollars for one person. The anticucho was not too bad, a bit hard and flavor was decent because of the chimichurri, It was supposed to be served the corn and potato, it had a fourth of a potato and like 7 grains of Peruvian corn 🤷🏽♀️. I didn’t finish all of my anticucho so I decided to take it home. Again flavor was decent because of the chimichurri so I ordered some of it on the side to finish it at home. Chicha sour was minuscule and it goes for for 16 dollars, and there’s nothing extraordinary about it. Finally the tallarines verdes were the biggest disappointment. When I checked the box it was so dry so I asked the waiter if they could add some more sauce to it. Waiter was very friendly and agreed to go back BOH and ask the kitchen for more sauce, I also got a side of huancaina sauce which 3.50 for a 4 once container that wasn’t even filled to the top. Once I got home and tried the tallarines verdes I spit it out immediately. The sauce was tart and it smelled incredibly unpleasant like the sauce was rancid and had gone bad. So that went went straight to the trash Also forgot to add they tried to charge an additional 3.50 for chimichurri that once again wasn’t filled to the top. Very disappointing and overpriced food is how it felt. The only good thing was the huancaina and the anticuchos were alright.
The location and overall look of the restaurant were nice. Service was mediocre and a bit rude. We were given white bread rolls and some dipping sauces. Weird I have never gone to a peruvian restaurant that served bread and not the tasted corn "cancha." Didn't eat it anyway as it was hard. The chicha drink was great. For appetizers, we ordered anticuchos and a trío of causas- one out of the 3 was awesome, which was the tuna tartar. The other two crab and chicken we just tasted and left. Entrée plates we had a "Tallarin Verde" with what was supposed to be meat but cam out with bread chicken. And a "Pollo a lo pobre" it was okay. Used bathroom and noticed none of the stalls had toilet paper. I asked a gentleman near a prep area if he could restock the bathroom so I could use it, and I was ignored, and he just walked back into the kitchen area. Overall, I would NOT go back.

Glad to say I scratched this off my list! This was the worst dining experience ever. We put our names on the list and they sat people with more guests before us. We waited ten minutes for a waiter but the people next to us (who were seated after us) were tended to immediately! They also got their complimentary bread and drinks before us. This speaks volumes to how they treat people that don’t look like them. The food was really good. Ordered the Lomo Saltado and Pescado Sudado and I would recommend the pescado.. from another Peruvian restaurant tho! One that treats their patrons fairly..
I ordered a ceviche which at first glance looked delicious. However, it was garnished with 2 slices of the spiciest chilies I had ever had in my life! They were so spicy they gave me a very painful sore throat and ruined the flavor and experience of eating at El Rocoto for me. When I mentioned this to our waiter he almost laughed at my discomfort and said I should have known better than to eat the garnish. I had to tell him to bring me a glass of milk to soothe my throat. This was my 4th time to eat at El Rocoto. It will be my last. No restaurant should treat their customers this way!
I dont know what happened to this place. It used to be really good. I worked down the street and ate there twice a week. Thats how good it was. The food is very bland. Absolutely no flavor. The ajis have changed too. The bread was good though. Never coming back.
