Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Just got the best pork ribs & beef brisket today at Dickey’s on Garland Rd & Buckingham, Garland! Don’t forget Monday’s pork rib special! Thank you Wesley & Christel, ya’ll ROCK!

Outstanding service from the young men who took care of me this past Tuesday. I had planned to just check the hours, but one of the employees waved me in. The two employees worked efficiently together to assemble my order, and they even let me have an empty cup for free. Mashed potatoes got an enthusiastic thumbs up from my brother, and the chicken was nicely tender and flavorful. The rolls were a bit dry, but they sop up the sauce well.

Not the cleanest Dickey's I've ever been to, but service is good and generous with portions. No Coke Freestyle machine like newer Dickey's, but free ice cream makes up for it. This location has slightly lower prices than the Firewheel store. Also, this location participates in most national promotions whereas Firewheel does not. Plenty of big tables for large groups.

A warning: as of August 30, 2025, this location is closed, with a sign hanging in the window reading "Coming Soon, Under New Management".

Staff were friendly. Food was decent. Rolls were sad, small, and stiff. I got the giant baker with brisket and pork sandwich. Sandwich was smaller than I expected, but the baked potato was HUGE. I wish there was more sour cream and cheese on the potato. It was a bit too dry for my liking.

Staff was cordial. Food was barely warm? They were not busy. Ordered beef and baby back ribs today. Received ribs and brisket. The misdelivery has happened at another Dickies. Green beans were soggy. The taste of the food overrode the above deficiencies.

WARNING !!!!!!………..So my buddy and me were out and about in Garland today and drove by this Dickeys. I’ve ate at Dickeys several times but this is probably the worst barbecue that I’ve ever had. The ribs were horrible,the roll or whatever you wanted to call it was more like something out of a k-ration can. Maybe a dog biscuit? It was totally unbelievable! The beans absolutely tasted horrible but the potato salad was okay and edible. I usually don’t write reviews but this place totally sucked when it comes to food quality ! I will NEVER eat at this establishment again. My buddy said the same thing and was praying that he doesn’t get sick.

I ordered from the W Buckingham rd location this evening and I was excited until i got in my car and opened my container. I ordered a (2) 2 meat meals and one consisted of ribs and sliced beef with potato salad and baked beans. The other meal was links and ribs with mac and cheese and french fries, plus 2 fountain drinks. I got my meals and got to my car and immediately noticed I had 2 poor looking ribs and 2 pieces of sliced beef. one of the ribs had meat torn out of it so basically i got a rib and a half. the meat was good. The other meal had 2 ribs and a nice portion of links. I was at another location just a week ago and ordered the same exact meal and got 3 ribs and a nice portion of sliced beef. I will be returning to that location in the future. The sauce was something they dipped out of a container and put into another togo container and i didnt trust it. The other location i went to previously had factory sealed to go containers of dickeys sauce which should be at all locations. The fountain drink station looked clean but after i tasted my drink, it had a funny after taste. The whole machine needs to be broken down and cleaned and sanitized at least once a month. Lastly, the condiments...Pickles, Jalapenos and onions looked dated and there was a fly perched on the container so i passed on that. I will say this the lady that took my order was nice and helpful. Bless her heart! but I will never eat at this location again.

I purchase a Thanksgiving dinner and two pies. I went to pick it up and they were very nice. When I got home I saw the rim around the pumpkin pie was black. I called and a lady offered my money back or a pecan pie in exchange. As this did not solve my need for a pumpkin pie at 8:00 at night before Thanksgiving I ask why I wasn’t told before I left the store. I was told she thought everyone was being told . She was right there as I received my order. I’m insulted you would pass the blame onto an hourly employee. Please accept responsibility for your store next time and be honest with your customers. I can’t believed I tipped them also! She called me while I was writing this review and apologized and told me that the girl who helped me was a volunteer and did show me the pies. She was right but the pies were stacked on top of each other with a bag of 12 dinner rolls on top of that. I saw two pies and a bag of rolls in a deep bag that was dark I am just asking that you be HONEST with your mistakes. We will live by cutting off the burned crust but this Dicky’s has lost my business forever. She did offer another pecan pie or to refund my money. This was not the point I wonder how many other pies went out burned(black) and the customer did not know?

Not so good, it seems that this was mostly fat. I would appreciate to get a refund. I've always enjoyed Dickies I guess today was just a bad day.
