Love the whole catfish and hubby had chicken strips. It was Margarita Day and they were delicious.
This place has amazing food! It tastes fresh and at a great price point. I love the decor and decorations. Such a vibe. I loved the shrimp po boy and their fries were perfection.
Sue, The manager at Flying Fish, is absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, she was warm, friendly, and incredibly welcoming. She created such a great atmosphere. You can tell she truly cares about both the customers and her team. And let’s talk about the food fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Everything we ordered was delicious! I had no idea Garland was hiding this gem. Between the great service, great food, and overall vibe, we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
The food was fantastic. The employees were very personable. Definitely will come back again. I recommend this place to anybody who wants a good bite to eat.
Excellent seafood! Always tastes fresh! There is not a wait staff, but the behind the counter staff is always friendly! We call our lunch group the Wednesday Lunch Coalition. Flying Fish is a valuable member in our restaurant rotation!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars – Outstanding Service and Delicious Food! Flying Fish at Firewheel truly deserves a five-star review. I ordered a salad with grilled blackened catfish and what impressed me the most was the incredible customer service. When I asked about the ingredients, they explained that the salad mix included spinach. I let the server know that unfortunately I cannot eat spinach and even though it already came mixed with the other greens, they took the time to carefully remove all the spinach so I could enjoy a salad with only lettuce. That level of care and attention is truly exceptional, it means so much when a restaurant goes the extra mile for a customer’s dietary needs. On top of that, my daughters ordered from the kids’ menu, which came with fries. We didn’t realize it at the time and they didn’t touch them because they wanted corn instead. The manager kindly switched the fries for corn without any hesitation. Another big applause for such amazing customer service! The food was absolutely delicious, but the service made the experience even better. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
This was our first time visiting the restaurant, there was no one inside which made us pause for a moment but we tried them anyway. The shrimp was fresh and Cooked to perfection 👌🏽 fish was fried well but not a lot of seasoning. We used a coupon to get a meal free so we're glad we tried them out. We will be back.
This location is a must-visit! The atmosphere is cool and unique, and kids love all the fish décor and lively vibe. The catfish is always amazing, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the beer and margaritas are served super cold. Crawfish season is a highlight and worth the trip. Join the Crub Club for free meals and discounts—it’s a great perk for regulars. The place is casual, family-friendly, and has a friendly staff that makes every visit enjoyable. Perfect spot for seafood lovers looking for a relaxed, welcoming place to eat.
As I am traveling through Dallas TX I stumbled upon this restaurant. I was happy to find it but did not really want to eat fried food. They offer a variety of seafood. Fortunately I was in luck because they offer the choice of grilled whatever you want. I opted for the grilled trout with grilled vegetables. The waiting period was minimal. The food taste very good with enough seasoning but nothing overwhelming. I was happy if was not salty at all. Just enough so anyone can enjoy it. My travel mate was also very pleased with her shrimp tacos and side salad. The salad ingredients were fresh and crunchy. It is a keeper.
We visit this location about once a month, thanks to the buy one get one free (up to $14.95) coupon that comes in our Valpak! We have been for lunch and dinner, the service is always quick, the food comes out hot (or cold), as ordered, every time. The restaurant is clean, there are tons of condiments on each table and we love the billy bass decor! We tend to spend a bit more to get the entrees we want. Yesterday, my partner ordered the shrimp and crab plate and I ordered the lobster rolls with onion rings instead of french fries. The shrimp and crab plate came with about 8-12 shrimp and about a pound of crab legs. Seafood seasoning was sprinkled on top of the seafood as well as the corn on the cob and two whole red potatoes included with the meal. The lobster rolls came on toasted bread with a good ratio of lobster filling to bread in every bite. I also like that you can make your own cocktail sauce. They have premade cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup in large self serve containers, but they also have fresh horseradish if you want it more of less spicy than their mixture. This is our favorite location, right by the mall!
This was our first time to eat here and the staff is friendly and helpful. They suggested items from the menu. My fiance wanted me to try the oysters so we got them on a half shell and they were amazing! I got the 2 shrimp and 1 chicken tender fry basket. My fiance got the platter with frog legs, gumbo, and I believe crawfish. Of course, we tried each other's meals and everything was amazing! All items were seasoned well and the in-house made sauce was the perfect compliment to the dishes! Yes, it's a little pricey but well worth the money. We will definitely be back!
Been coming here for years. Consistent good food. Join the grub club and you will get basically a buy one get one free that’s good for the first 21 days of the month. You do have to buy two drinks but that’s no biggie when you can mix lemonade and sweet tea to make your own Arnold Palmer. Catfish is generally my wife’s go to and mine is the tilapia tacos or poor boy. This time I tried the catfish with jambalaya . It was good . Might become my new go to with two of my favorite things from here. The jambalaya has shredded chicken and small cut sausages. Could be a little bigger to make it better.
My husband and I decided to try their new gator bites and they were quite delicious! I wish the sace that came with them was a little better but honestly not much of a complaint because it was still good. I also got the grilled shrimp tacos and those were yummy! I enjoyed every bit of the tacos. Comes with rice and beans and I did not like the rice and beans they were very dry. Had little to no flavor and that was probably the worst part. The service was great. They got the food out pretty fast. Everything was hot and fresh!
We ordered the fried gator bites as an appetizer if you’ve never tried alligator this would be a good option they’re bite sized, easy to eat they give you a special sauce to dip them in and were actually pretty tasty. We tried the catfish and shrimp basket both seasoned well and fried just right and my mom tried the gumbo she said it was good. The atmosphere is very inviting nice chill place to bring the family. We’ll have to try again and get other options but for the first time trying Flying Fish comes in a close second to Fish Shack both have similar menu and taste.
Visited on a Friday evening and it wasn't too crowded. You order at the front and pick up when the buzzer goes off. The gumbo was ok but the chowder tasted like eating gravy. It was just too thick and not appetizing. The fried pickles were okay. Would give it another try for some of there other items. Their menu was pretty extensive and lots of different things to choose from. They had bottled beer in a fridge that you grab yourself and pay at the front. All you can drink fountain is also available.
Wife and I ordered the caddo plate (tilapia and grilled shrimp) on a special sauce. It was ok. We also ordered a pound of boiled shrimp and they were really dried. Came with high expectations and left a little disappointed of the shrimp specially.
The Food is Decent, I had the Veracruz Snapper the fish was fresh but the sauce wasn’t tasty enough! The rice tasted like precooked rice from a Box, the best thing was the grilled veggies! The menu looks delicious maybe I’ll try something different next Time! The service is good but once you pay for your food they don’t go and check on You at all!! I was driving around the, and I decided to give this place another shot, and I’m glad I did! This time I ordered the Caddo , and it was delicious the fish, and shrimp were fresh and delicious, the whole combination of Flavors was amazing, even the rice tasted good, the creamy sauce is delicious and spicy enough to bring out the flavors and still enjoyable! Don’t need to add anything but a couple of Beers??🍻 The stuff is always nice and welcoming!!
really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. Most of the food felt rushed and lacked basic preparation. The Seafood: The fish and shrimp tasted unwashed and fresh "out of the bag" with zero seasoning or care. There was just no joy in the cooking. The Catty Lake: This was a total miss. It was covered in cayenne pepper but had no salt or depth, making it somehow spicy and bland at the same time. The Gator Queso: This was watery and had the consistency of soup rather than a dip. The Silver Lining: The fried redfish was actually good, but it wasn't enough to save the meal. Overall, the seafood boil and most of the sides were a letdown. I won't be rushing back.
First hush puppy not too bad. The extra side of hush puppies were mushy! The replacement for those mushy hush puppies tasted sour and were cooked too long. Ask for money back for those. One side of the restaurant had the windows open and was hot. The other side of the restaurant had the air conditioner on and was cold. I think they have changed ownership or management. Just not what I remember the food being like. Sad
My wife and I had lunch here and it was quite disappointing for $35. She liked her gumbo and the iced tea was good but that's about it. I had the fried catfish po'boy and it wasn't good. Fish was way over cooked and mushy and had zero flavor. I also tried the fried okra and it was lukewarm and I'm sure was poured right out of a frozen bag.
I’ve been coming to this Flying Fish location for years and have always had a great experience — until today. I was initially charged the wrong amount (which was corrected), but my order was not prepared the way I requested. They did not include the additional ½ pound of crab I asked for. When I tried to resolve it, all I wanted was to be properly charged for the extra crab and have it added. Instead, the employee began processing random refunds and then took my entire order back to remake it, which was unnecessary and confusing. What made the situation more disappointing was the cashier’s attitude. She appeared to already be in a bad mood, and the interaction did not reflect the level of customer service I’ve come to expect from this restaurant over the years. I’m sharing this because I’ve always supported this location and hope management addresses it. I’d love to continue coming back, but today’s experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
1. Please get someone at the register who can speak and understand English. 2. Be careful when utilizing your "free" entree with their "fishing license" promotion. The cashier tried to screw me out of that yesterday. 3. I'm assuming they either sold to someone else or changed management because the food (specifically the french fries) are now grease fries. 4. It's always a shame when a good thing turns to crap.
Do Not go there!!! Got the hog wallow fried platter hit me the price why they dont show the prices needless to say this is not 30 dollars worth, got 2 small pieces of fish 4 shrimp and some burned oysters, the fries I think they gave me the ones from the previous day hard and crunchy for a high price also it was soooo hot inside the restaurant do not recommend this place, also the staff preassure me to order fast felt uncomfortable its a terrible place to eat and spend alot of money for verry low quality good!
This is my second time going there the first time I spent $20 on a piece of red snapper and fried okra it was burnt. Sorry I do not have a picture. It was overcooked. Try it again for another $20.02 pieces of catfish jumbo shrimp it’s supposed to be not the case way too pricey for a little bit of food I will not go back.
