Pretty nice place! We were out for u-pick cherries and got up so early to avoid the heat without breakfast. Treated really well in Sandy’s, food is good and staff is kind. Had a really good time!

If you eat where the Sherriff Deputies come to eat, you'll feel more secure. 😊😊😊 Great Diner, old school help; where the waitresses fill that morning coffee cup over and over. Food is ordered and your meal gets there quickly. It's a small Diner, so they probably want you out of there to make room for the next Patrons. Will visit again when in this area.

Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Coffee was delicious and food was scrumdillicious! I had a veggie omelette, which came with asparagus! And I added canadian bacon to it. Hashbrowns done to perfection. Hubby had chicken fried steak and it was amazingly tender and yummy!

Great home cooking food. The staff is really nice and always willing to refill your cup with coffee on a moment's notice. The portions are huge. Gets crowded around 9AM so try to head early.

Monster sandwiches that can be shared by all but the most voracious eaters. The Turkey club and Italian we tried were both excellent. The quiche and the pastries here are amazing… I believe they come from the French bakery down the street.

I came in to use the bathroom on a road trip and so wanted to buy something as payment. I came out and ordered some snacks and the guy asked for cash because it was such a small transaction. I didn't have any and told him I'd run back in the car. He said it was fine and they were free. I insisted I would pay and he shrugged it off. I went back to the car and got cash from my friend to pay because I was so thankful. The attitude of the staff made my day and positively changed by view on Gilroy.

OMG! What can't I say about Sandy's!!! It's like the sign says when you enter: "You enter as strangers but leave as friends". Everytime we go there, we are treated like family, the service is great, the food is delicious 😋 it has truly become one of our favorite spots to go to for breakfast!

Have been meeting with a group of Vietnam veterans there for a few years. Waitresses are all friendly and stay busy. The food is excellent. Variety of meals, but I enjoy my Sandy's Skillet. Sandy the owner is very friendly and greets us when she's free. Full house almost every Friday morning.

Husband ordered corned beef and rash and rated it VERY good. My turkey sandwich with a side of very fresh fruit (in lieu of fries) was excellent. Service is friendly and efficient and meal is delivered hot. Very clean. It's our stopping off place on trips on 101 South.

We walked over from our hotel for a full service breakfast. Friendly service and good food. A lot of choices on the menu. And the food portions are a good size. Definitely a good stop for the town and for visitors.

Absolutely Wonderful Food!!!! Would definitely come back again. I got the Belgian Waffle Combo and added Strawberries and Chocolate Chips. I am still craving them. My husband got the Linguica and Eggs. It was cooked perfect. I believe it is the Silva brand. We don't live near by. Otherwise we would be regulars. Can't wait to be in the area again, just so we can eat there.

They were very friendly. I went there because I remembered how good the bacon was last time. And this time I ordered some to go. my poached eggs were perfect thanks. I will definitely go back there when I am in town. The hours are 7 a.m. to 1p.m. thanks again.

The staff here work incredibly as a team when it gets busy, which it does on the weekends. Expect a slight wait then, but during the week it's easy to find a seat. You're served quickly. Traditional Americana diner cuisine, and they do it well for a reasonable price.

Maggie the server remembered me from my previous visit and proved their posted sign to be true, arrive as a guest leave as a friend! If you stay at a motel in Gilroy and need breakfast or brunch, avoid the chains and give Sandy's a chance! The food is good, portions generous, price points good and the kitchen executes the order in a timely fashion. Service is sincere, food is superior to chain diners and it is prepared a lot quicker than the likes of Denny's. Maggie and Steve share the genuine hospitality gene which I assume is common for the rest of the staff and the reason there are so many regulars!

Very good comfort food. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. In my opinion, the best breakfast in Gilroy. I live in Arizona now, but when I am in town, this is my go-to breakfast restaurant. There are plenty of options, and I have never been disappointed. The omelets are very good. The pancakes are fluffy and compliment most dishes. I can't say enough about their service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great cafe for breakfast! We were traveling through and our breakfast was amazing. They even warm up the syrup for the fabulous French Toast I ordered. The bacon was top notch. The Cafe itself is really homey and their decor is fun and spotlessly clean. If we lived closer I would get fat eating here. Loved it! Breakfast and Lunch only!

Sandy's is an excellent place to go if you want good service, good food, and good atmosphere. I'll explain each point. When you walk in, you will be greeted. If a seat is available, you will be seated. Service is fast and friendly. Very attentive to the customers. Food comes faster than I thought for a busy diner, hot and delivered fresh from the window. Food is filling and tasty. Everything is fresh. Feels like family there.

Sandy and her employees were the best. The restaurant is clean, service is fast and friendly, and the food is great quality and quantity. Kids were offered coloring or other activity from toy chest but we weren't waiting long for our food. When the food came it was seasoned perfectly and we all enjoyed our meals. We are a family of 5. Price was reasonable about average for a breakfast diner. We aren't locals but felt like we belonged. Sandy offered the kids lollies for smiles before we left. So happy with our choice and will definately go again when in the neighborhood.

Straight forward, traditional breakfast and lunch menu. Great food, a large selection of options, big portions, and a wonderful, warm, and welcoming family staff. Pancakes are light and fluffy. Hashbrowns are crisp on the outside and cooked all the way through, properly. My over medium eggs are always perfect. French toast is good and not wet mush of raw egg in the center. This was the first place i ate at the weekend i moved to Gilroy 4 yrs ago. It was a nice welcome to town during a stressful weekend. They're always so genuinely friendly here. I keep coming back and recommend stopping in for breakfast or lunch if you're ever in the area.

This place is a nice breakfast spot. Service was fast, very friendly staff. Even the locals enjoying their breakfast were friendly. You get a lot for what you pay. On our way to Gilroy Gardens and we stopped by to get breakfast. Will defenetly come back when I am in the area. There was no wait at all.

Met Sandi when friends of ours brought us to Sandi's Cafe. She was closing for the day and opened the doors for 4 adults and 2 kids instead of sending us away. The Sandi burgers we're great 👍. The Cobb salad my friend had looked delicious. His wife and the kids had pancakes and scrambled eggs with bacon and sausage. The service and food was excellent. Thanks for making our day!

Sandy's Cafe is just off the Highway 101 in Gilroy, California. Service was great and the staff was very nice and social. Kind of reminded me of the small town place where everyone knows your name. Food was cooked to perfection and the "light" breakfasts are definitely filling. Second time I've stopped there from business trips and I've enjoyed both times. The coffee was definitely a good cup of coffee. Strong and dark, like my soul.

First time visit. Definitely beats the food at Denny's. Ate the Steve's Country Benedict with hash browns. Very yummy! You can order the country potatoes instead of hash browns, if you prefer. Wife have the country potatoes with her meal and thought they were very tasty. Definitely will go back again.

It is an old school cafe. We went on a Sunday morning, and they were busy. Our server, Tia, was amazing. Super friendly, super fast. Not one drink went empty. The only reason the service is a four star rating is because my order was incorrect, missing the ham in the skillet breakfast, but they were quick to fix it by giving me some bacon. Highly recommend this cafe.

I was excited that this place was open with many outdoor tables during Shelter-in-Place still in effect. Food was great. Family owned an dbeen in business for many years, from what I'm told. Unfortunately, I experienced it when they had a plumbing issue and they had to call the plumber to clear a clog. That transpired me to waiting almost 30 minutes for the food. The owner, Sandy, came and apologized, so I was grateful for that. I'm not mad, however, I will have to come again to give them a more honest review.

It is definitely a local spot , if your an outsider most of the staff will not help you or refill anything Food was great loved the French toast , was it worth the price .... no .... serves good ... not at first the waitress was nasty because I did not like there tea that tasted like they haven't cleaned the container for a bit , she then had another waiter serve our table making him work extra because she could not do her job , so for food it's good at a steep price, staff horrible but for one waiter who was overwhelmed to pick up the slack for his useless co workers , would not return nor say anyone should try it , if your local then it's great visit go elsewhere.

The food is good. A bit over priced id say. I guess the party behind me was the owners son. He had two younger ladies accompanying him, the two talked so loud i couldnt hear my girlfriend speaking to me. Feeling special much? I guess because they are part of Sandys family (daughters in law) idk ,they felt it was ok to be obnoxious. Sandy is awesome our waiter Richy was very attentive. Great hot fresh food too.

Good food, service is hit and miss.. some days service is fast and friendly, some days service is slow and you get your food tossed on the table and your bill at the same time. If it stayed consistent I'd go back more often.

The Ruben I had was tasty so the food was good. Tried a pancake, that was good. Took off 2 stars due to the absurdly slow service. Don't know what was up but.. it was bad. I'll be giving Sandy's a second try later on.

The one positive is that the pancakes were decent. Other than that, the omelet was flavorless, the house potatoes were mush (also flavorless), and the server managed to spill a cup of hot coffee on one of our party. I know accidents happen, but it was just the icing on a bad cake.

Stopped here yesterday for breakfast and it was a big disappointment, The service was okay. The place feels like it needs a deep cleaning, The breakfast was bland and disappointing. All I know is I won't be eating there again!

Ordered the open face roast beef sandwich. Not good. The meat was all tendon and as tough as a boot to gnaw on. The vegetables tasted off as well. Kind of like they have been frozen and thawed out several times. I couldn't finish any of it. The prices online are significantly different than at the restaurant and Sandy won't honor the prices online. They don't have a take away menu and they only suggest asking for prices while you order on the phone. Wasted my entire lunch break being overcharged for food I am probably going to throw away.

The foods was average. It's nothing I would go out of the way for but the customer service is truly terrible. They were rude and appear to be bothered by serving my family, 2 kids and my husband and myself. After taking our initial order they never came to check to see if we needed anything. I try to flag somebody down to get a cup of coffee with no success. And they just came and threw her bill on the table without even saying a word. They completely ignored us. So at that point we just got up to pay our bill and leave. And to have even our bill / receipt basically thrown at us on our way out really topped off our experience here. Definitely won't be returning. And also please note the bathroom were dirty and disgusting.

Just went into sandys usually the service is great but today it was horrible. Took over an hour to get our food and ut was cold and they hardly filled up our cups. When we got ready to pay the lady was trying to start an argument with us while we were paying. Other tables got.served.quicker than us. But the lady trying to take our payment was very arguementive just sad about today and disappointed

Went before was great. This last visit not so great. Dinnerware was dirty. Twice food was not cooked correct. Ordered French toast bread had mold allover. Whole family immediately lost appetite.

The service was terrible! The waitress had an attitude and was pushy about having my mind made up way too quickly. Then after I believe I saw a cockroach, I don't think I'll be coming back till pest control is through there!

Came here on Sunday 03/13/2022 with my dad, sister and two young boys. Arrived at about 1240 hoping that the breakfast rush would have dimmed but that was not the case as there was about 5 parties ahead of us. I stood at the front for quite a few minutes before I was attended by the hostess. She looked like she was running multiple jobs so I dared not to bother her. She finally took my name down and said the wait was about 15 minutes. About 30 minutes later we were called in and sat down. We were quickly served our drinks and the coffee was fairly watered down. Our food order did not arrive for about another 40 minutes later. I ordered the French toast combo and the bread was a bit stiff and nothing to brag about. What annoyed me the most is that we were seated in the corner close to the kitchen. At one point it smelled heavily like rotten egg that my kids started complaining. I figured they were throwing away some dirty water in the kitchen area. It was past two and we were still eating our food, my dad asked for more decaf coffee but the waitress told her that they had no more because they were now closed?????! I am pretty sure we were still full paying customers and I did not know that depending on what time you decide to show up, you will get a certain type of service. It was over $70 for the five of us and no one really ordered anything extra ordinary. I hope this was just the one time experience but I will not be returning to this location.

I've been to this restaurant a total of 3 times and every time I go back it seems to be lacking in service and quality. Keep in mind that I'm aware that this is a truck stop diner and that I don't expect high quality here but I feel that this restaurant has become quite complacent with getting business just because of their location and does very little to impress the customer. I'm also convinced at this point that they don't really care what anyone thinks about them after a waitress asked me how the meal was, plugged me for information, and became rude when I told her about my experience. Clearly this restaurant is living in some other era where they think there are no other options in town. Overall: Very bad service and not very good food. Don't have any other reason to go back.

This was the worst food I’ve ever had in any restaurant. Granted, I came with a big group but they weren’t busy other than us. I got a blueberry waffle and it was disgusting. First they brought me a regular waffle, then once asked they brought out the blueberry one. The Berrys were on top of the waffle in a slurry, this would have been ok except it was frozen. It made the whole waffle cold and wet. Sandy’s was also fairly expensive for a breakfast place and definitely over charged for the “food” they served. My friend got eggs and French toast and he said it was also awful. On top of the food the service was terrible, everything took way longer than it should and the waitress was a bit rude. I’m usually not very picky and I’ve never written a negative review but Sandy’s drove me to do so. If we weren’t in such a hurry when eating we would have sent all the food back. We ask for Honey and ice and server yell at us and they didn’t treat us right and we had to leave because the atmosphere was very toxic.

**Update: I previously left a 5 star review for this cafe, and after a trip this weekend was excited to eat there again. Unfortunately, my experience this time was completely different and I won't be returning! As we were seated and after the waitress had taken our order, my wife asked if she could make sure that the drinks for the kids were in to-go cups. The waitress snapped at us that she was already doing that (which we had no way of knowing). I chalked it up to her just being busy and didn't think anything of it. Then, we watched our order get finished and put up on the counter - where it proceeded to sit for the next 20 minutes as it was ignored and had multiple other ready plates stacked ON TOP of our food before they made their way to other customers. When she finally brought it to us, there was food from one of our plates hanging off of the bottom of another plate. I mentioned this to the waitress, who I guess thought I was complaining about the wait time (I was not, although it was a bit long that wasn't my issue). The idea of multiple things being stacked on top of our food and the other waitresses having to peel their plates off of our food really grossed us out and turned us off of eating there, so I told the waitress that we were just going to go. I had tried to leave without making a scene as I don't like public confrontation or making a scene in restaurants (I'm the type of person to accept something minor wrong with my order without sending it back). However, as we were walking out, the manager sarcastically asked "Really guys? Please don't come back.", I told her not to worry, we have no plans to. I salute you if you've read this far. I'm really disappointed in this visit and it's outcome as I enjoyed eating here, but after this experience - never again. Maybe some people don't have a problem with a potentially contaminated and unsanitary plate bottom being stacked on food they were planning to eat, but it really grossed us out. We won't be going back. I've included my original review below for reference, so you can see I didn't post this lightly. ----- This cafe is a quaint place off the beaten path that has a great menu and friendly, welcoming staff. Great environment and most importantly - fresh, delicious food. I highly recommend the steak sandwich. This place is a must visit for any trip through or to Gilroy.

I just witnessed the worst customer service I have seen in a really long time. A waitress/worker at the restaurant berated a customer for parking in a no parking zone by loudly in the restaurant asking him if he didn’t see the sign. Then proceeded to follow him outside to continue to berate him publicly. He is an older veteran with his wife just trying to have breakfast. Was happy to move car as he didn’t see the sign. They left understandably. Won’t be back due to this lack of customer service or respect.

So I was in town and stayed at the hotel next door as I was waiting to order a cab I was going to grab breakfast and because I walked in this restaurant and went straight to the bathroom. This waitress walks over to me and says, “this isn’t a public bathroom you can’t use it”! I said well I’m actually going to eat breakfast and have coffee. She refused to let me use the restroom and I walked out. The most disrespectful thing I’ve seen over here in California. Tall, blonde woman is what she looked like. I haven’t felt so embarrassed and it’s because I had my suitcase with me here since I’m on vacation. Someone needs to either get rid of her and get some good respectable people or teach here not everyone just goes into public places and uses their restrooms. So I didn’t even eat nor have my coffee.
