To be honest ' much better than expected ' - we were attending the Peter Kay Show at the OVO and Clydebuilt was just over the piazza / square - open plan restaurant with a sense of industria legacy / very airy, simple menu - we had Highlander Burgers - well presented - price in line with similar restaurants in town so no obvious premium for exhibition/ concert location. Would recommend.
We were able to go in 30 minutes earlier than our reservation. Waitress was lovely. I had the chicken caesar salad, it was huge. Lovely. My friend the fish and chips, loved it. The sticky toffee pudding was enormous. I had the apple crumble and ice cream. The crumble was lovely and crunchy. All the staff were very nice. Was great to relax and not rush our meal before show at armadillo.....😋😍
Had the best ceaser salad and truffle parmesan fries here, the staff were absolutely lovely and service was quick.
Could have had a bit more salad on the plate & not very much in the way of vegetarian or vegan option. I'm not either of these but it would be nice to have the choice, apart from that was really good. I'll be back
Service was great and friendly and food was amazing. Will be back
We were 25 mins late due to traffic staff were brilliant held our table. Waiter sorry didn't catch your name was attentive and couldn't do enough for us. But the star of the show was the guy who brought out our meal. He was fantastic funny and so happy we were all smiling. Oh and the fish was delicious. Thank you guys you made 4 Ladies very happy 😊 😀 ❤ xx
Just drinks and a snack after setting up for the wedding show and our server Gary made it such a lovely experience had so much knowledge on the venue and menu and just a lovely welcoming personality. Hope his bosses tell him how good he is
Our server Gary was great and the food was tasty.
Pizza was fantastic. Pakora is tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was tremendous. Waitress and waiters were very efficient. The host/manager was very pleasant and kind. There was a beautiful girl sitting directly across from me at my table also. Good Times.
Me and my partner dined here last Wednesday for a quick bite to eat before Kevin bridges and had a great time. Good food and service, very affordable and there was a live acoustic set during our visit. The team member who greeted us before we got seated was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be coming back here in future.
Was served last night by Christopher, great customer service, even when working took time to talk to myself and my sister manners cost nothing thanks again 🙂
We choose this place from Google maps because it was close to the OVO where we were going to a concert and we were really pleased. We absolutely loved the style of the restaurant. The atmosphere and the live music were spot on and made for a wonderful evening. The food was lovely. The staff were very friendly, approachable and helpful. Will definitely go again next time we visit Glasgow!
We went for food before our concert, Gary served us and was an absolute gem. Nice pub grub - nothing fancy but the staff were lovely. Quick service, tasty food. The staff were really nice which makes all the difference regardless of where you are.
My friend and I popped in and shared a chicken Caesar pizza before heading home after a performance in the SCC so the bar wasn't busy at this time of day. We liked the ambience but more than that the pizza was superb. It was so tasty and was the best pizza I had eaten outside of Italy. The base was thin, the crust tasty and the tomato sauce totally delicious which complimented the remaining toppings. Also like in Italy it took minutes to cook properly so delivery was quick. The server was a cheerful young man with a ready smile. It all went to make our first experience here a very good one. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Usually bars/restaurants near event venues are overpriced and not great quality, but when we were at the SEC Armadillo for an event, we had a look at the menu here and thought it looked really good. The ordering process is fast and simple, and the food came out reasonably quickly. I had fish and chips and it was very tasty, and well cooked & presented. I would definitely eat here again, and have already agreed with my wife that we’ll eat here next time we’re at an event in the area.
Visited here before a gig and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The pizzas were decent, or at least more decent than we were expecting. The servers were all really cheery and seemed happy to be at work (not often I can say this!). The prices are very inflated because of the location, but it’s the same with anywhere in a place like this. £7 for a pint of Dark Fruits is a lot, but what else are you going to do? Other downside is that they stopped serving drinks at 8:15, even though we were keen for another one, and it could do with some signage to indicate the entrance and bar/restaurant split if you’re a first time visitor. Also, we tried two tables and they were both wobbly. You could do a lot worse for pre-gig dinner and drinks!
Visited early evening before a show at the Hydro. Quick and friendly service. Good selection of drinks and few cocktails on offer too
Myself and my daughter visited this place before a concert at the hydro we had a selection of starters which were very nice, relaxed atmosphere and a view of the queue going in to hydro from our seat in the restaurant allowed me and my daughter time for another drink to let the queue go down a little before joining it all in all a good experience
Seated and ordered fine. Only got drinks after I spoke to two staff and had waited 30 mins. Food was good, pasta, although the Scottish beef burgers they sell are partly made with vegetables a fact you only find out if you drill down on the online menu. All burger choices are made this way
Always have a good meal here before gigs. Only issue I have, and have now been on several occasions, when we’ve ordered draught soft drinks, they have tasted very chemically. I had irn bru and my friend had lemonade. We took them back to the bar and were given more from another tap, but still tasted the same. We did not drink these either as they were exactly the same, don’t know if these are being rinsed properly after cleaning or whatever but have to order cans of juice instead, £3.70 for a pint of juice but ended up with a £2 can. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this. I find it hard to believe that we were the only ones to have this issue? Again, never have a complaint about the food and even without a reservation we manage to get seated. :)
Staff and particularly our server Amy were friendly and welcoming & very Allergy aware, which was a huge reassurance due to my companion's severe food allergies, which make dining out a nightmare. Food was well presented, and decent portions, service a wee bit slow, but it was quite busy so only to be expected and we weren't that bothered, having booked our table to ensure we'd plenty time to eat before the gig.
A lively but relaxed buzz about this place, and really great service and staff here. The menu has usual options but some dishes are slightly above average price (hence the 4 star and not five here. But Taste and quantity were good and served very quick.
Was decent, it's handy if you want something before you go the hydro, foods alright, not bad, but i wouldn't go out my way to eat from here.
The food was fine enough and the waitress was pleasant. But why does the menu have to be vegan? I'm vegetarian, which meant I had to have a different type of bun and vegan mayo. It seemed a real hassle that I asked for normal mayo. And I certainly wasn't allowed the brioche bun that was for the chicken burger. There was no beef on the menu at all, which is strange for a Scottish restaurant. There were 3 puddings on the menu and every one was gluten free and vegan. I get offering options to different diets, but provide a choice for people who don't follow these diets
So the food was as you would expect from any of the thousands of bar/restaurants like this. Decent, edible and absolutely not worth £17 for a burger or £16 for a Ceasar Salad. Good live music from a local singer/guitarsmith. Having said that, 1000 of him in Glasgow. Service was fairly average. Ordered drinks on the app for : "ASAP 17:58" had to ask at the bar for them about 18:15. Ordered our food for 18:45 and it arrived at 18:25 which kinda ruined our timing for the concert next door. Having said that the staff were pleasant enough.
Spilt a drink and no one came to help. Staff seem generally pissed off. Coffee wasnt very nice and no sugar or anything available anywere. The tables and floor are not very clean either.
Reasonably quiet due to being open, staff friendly, food is just... sad. Tastes like a home cooked meal from Iceland. Chips were okay (standard restaurant) but the quality of the beef burgers was horrible. Not worth going to unless starving in this area.
For venue food it’s not too bad but the burger could of been classed a vegan friendly with all the risk and cereal in it. I swear there is even carrot in it! Chip are ok but if you can’t get oven chips right there something wrong with you. The brioche bun or onion ring was the best part of it!
Visit Clydebuilt often before going to the SSE Hydro or Armadillo and always have the clydebuilt burger, well they’ve changed it to a lump of meat covered with shredded cabbage no Cajun fries now although fries served with the burger were lovely, the burger itself .. let’s be honest it was bowfing.. was like eating a cardboard sandwich and I paid £14 for the privilege .. staff are amazing and that’s the reason for 2stars and not one .. next time I come to a gig I’ll just go to the oui bar in the Radisson
Makes me laugh. Discussion goes like: "Do you serve fresh orange juice?" Answer: "yes!". Then they slap this on the bar. You tell them: "I asked fresh" Answer: " yes, it is fresh". That moment you do not know if they are blatantly ignorant, in auto pilot or taking the mick.
Placed on too small a table for 6 when larger one free. Burger would have been better from aldi overpriced didn't get order right to remove allergy items and friends bun was solid. Very poor. Very expensive. Plus put on menu if items are suitable for vegetarians.
We went here before a show in the auditorium next door, we pre booked on line but was very quiet as it was midweek. Fish and chips £13 was a joke very very small portion size looked like a slightly bigger fish finger to me, I asked wheres the rest of it and was told it was normal portion size. (Better quality in the hydro food stalls, £8) The chicken burger and chips £16 was a much better size, still relatively expensive for what you got though. We passed on dessert as felt short changed with the food. Asked about cocktails but it's the rubbish eden mill cocktail cans for £7.50 each, so gave it a miss. Most annoying thing was that after we had ate we noticed the vinegar was 6 months out of date, which is unacceptable, and the sauce bottles could do with being cleaned regular, very messy and a magnet for infection. As it was very quiet there is no reason why staff couldn't be on doing this, it made us wonder what it is like behind the scenes, did mention it before we left. Overall, nice setting, but very overpriced and average quality.
Unfortunately this establishment appears to have gone downhill. The girls serving were lovely and couldn't be more helpful, but I witness managers/supervisors (unsure what level) sitting about chatting to, I presume, friends/staff. No eye contact with customers or greeting and saying hello. The food was very poor. Under seasoned chicken breast burger, lacking salad with no dressing. The chicken was almost slimy in texture. The pizza was very basic, lacking in flavour and dry. Interestingly, what appeared to be senior managers were sat near us and their food looked of better quality than that being served to customers. Quality of food and attention to detail from management is needed as otherwise it will no doubt continue to decline.
I've been here several times, mainly because it's the only game in town. The food is good, but the service is almost always bad. Twice now I've been asked to confirm what my order was 15 minutes after ordering and sitting down at my table. Yesterday I was asked to produce a receipt at my table (none was given when I ordered and paid) and there was a problem with the card machine. Also, £7 for a pint is scandalous.
We attended OHBM and went for lunch to CLYDEBUILT; Service and food are below any expectation. We order 2 chicken tika masala and after more than 30 minute we got one. The waiter told us he bring the next one at once but 10 minutes later he was still not back. We asked to another and he came back that there was only 1 ordered, but we were two at bar when ordered. So we asked another Tika but that was not available anymore, so we got a salad with boiled chicken on it without any dressing (see below picture). Was not eatable. The days after we went to other place.
I waited in the queue to be served. As the cashier was serving the person in front of me, I stepped forward to read the menu that was placed on the bar. I then stepped along to order, only to be told I would have to then join the back of the queue again as "I stepped forward and therefore left the queue" The people behind me in the queue were even insisting I did in fact wait, and I witnessed other people doing the exact same thing and served with no problem. The cashier was very rude with me when I was attempting to explain. I did not want to wait in a long queue again so I had to leave.
Bar staff were clueless re the drinks they had. Also took 40 minutes to get a simple Caesar salad which had to be returned twice as we asked explicitly for no meat - which they failed to comprehend.
I ordered food and drinks at the bar unfortunately the only meal I've ever asked for a refund for, the burger should come with a warning as it was horrible even a staff member said it didn't look cooked properly. My friend never received her burger just aswell, she wouldn't have enjoyed it with it tasting like a vegan burger. I think the only reason I received mine eventually was because I highlighted I was diabetic. There was no receipt given therefore they couldn't find my order in the kitchen I was charged £39.40 and no refund has been received as of yet it's been a week and a half. I spoke to Richard who was helpful but still disappointing not to be refunded. There was a few comments about some of the staff being agency staff and being rude I completely agree with this as I experienced this too. I defo won't be back or recommending this place to anyone which is a shame as I go to alot of events in the hydro and this was my first time trying it. I would appreciate feedback on how long ot takes to be refunded.
Can't fault the service but the burger was shocking. Supposed to be a steak burger, it was clearly MRM, I've had better burgers from a van! At £17 I expected much, much better. They won't be seeing me back there again.
The Mac and cheese had no taste whatsoever and didn’t even eat it all and the menu online said it came with chips but instead it came with salad and the Diet Coke didn’t even taste nice and wasn’t fizzy at all and I won’t be going back especially with those prices if the food taste horrible
Very disappointed, service is really shocking, ordered a drink after being in the queue for 15 minutes and to be told I couldn’t order food for another 30 minutes, then I ordered the food after having to stand in the queue again for another 20 minutes, after we finished the food, we had to stand in the queue AGAIN for another 20 minutes to order a dessert , I then asked one of the staff if we could have a coffee and was told I had to stand in the very long queue AGAIN, which I was definitely not willing to do, spoke to the manager and he was no help at all !!!!! Shocking will definitely not be back
Ordered drink told had to wait for another 30 mins to order food . Went back up to order food . Then in big queue again for dessert then queue again for a hot drink gave up by then the place is appalling dirty tables and floors young staff run of their feet was very polite manager well he is Rude..will never be back..
Shambles of a place. No confirmation sent for online booking which was cancelled on the day by Clydebuilt despite being booked a week in advance. Obviously giving priority to 'walk ins' seeing as there is a concert at the Hydro tonight.
Gave 1 star as I had to but the Mac and cheese was awful sadly. I did not eat it however still got charged for it, even after I said to server i didn’t enjoy it. The side of chips however were good. Will not be back and will never recommend.
My friend & I went here for dinner before a gig & although the food was delicious, it was a terriblly tiny portion size & very overpriced!! We received a fish fillet which had very obviously been cut in half giving me one half & my friend the other, tiny wee bit of pea puree & some fries!! Had it not been for the small portions, the food would have been 5/5 as it tasted lovely. All together we had 2 beers, 2 spirits, 2 mains & 2 desserts totalling £74.20. Absolutely ridiculous for what we got, we won't be back!!
TOTAL LET DOWN - WONT GO BACK I`ve came to restaurant so many times, mainly as it is handy for Hydro but don`t think I will be back. Glasses warm, lipstick marks on it, Cider flat, this happened with 2nd round also (didn't get charged). Food just ok, been same menu for years. Staff pleasant but look like new starts all the time Just disappointing. To me its an excellent location, could make a fortune with flow of people but needs total overhaul
Awful service, overpriced food. Rude staff gave me a glass instead of a paper cup when I requested takeaway. Three piddly bits of pakora, the Coke was flat. Dire need of improvement. Better food at blue lagoon takeaway!
Went for coffee and cake while visiting today for the Van Gogh experience, ordered coffee and cake from a very impolite and disinterested female member of staff whilst 3 others stood around chatting instead of serving the queue waiting. When I asked for a fork I was pointed to the stand with the sugars ect, there were none when I asked if they could get me a fork whilst in front of me was a barrage of silver cutlery I was told there were no disposable ones left when I asked for a steel for them I was told no incase I would take it from the venue!!!!! Shocking customer service! Totally ruined my experience here. manager certainly needs to take a look at his employees attitudes.
Came here as the menu looked good and right beside the Hydro. Unfortunately the service was very poor, which was disappointing as the food and drink were pricey for what was on offer. Almost £8 for a pint and £4 for soft drinks! Three tables seated after us got drinks before any staff approached us to order, no staff had been trained to carry trays, and service was quite robotic / scripted. I will say the restaurant was not busy either. The food was tasty enough but definitely not worth the price. When we finished our meal our plates were cleared but nobody asked us if we were interested in dessert or a second drink. The next time staff approached us was with a card reader asking if we were "ready to pay yet" when we hadn't even seen a bill, which I found quite jarring. I hate leaving negative reviews as I am hospitality staff but this was especially disappointing. Clydebuilt need to roll out a lot more training.
Went for cold drinks & a coffee. Paid for all & got cold drinks at one end of the bar. Told to go to the other end for coffee. Pure chaos! Bar staff putting down drinks no one had ordered. Dozens of people waiting. Eventually a member of staff got out pen & paper & asked people what they’d ordered. We’d already been waiting ages. That was when people just left without the drinks they’d paid for. I hate to think what impression overseas visitors took away from the SCOTTISH exhibition centre.
