Great wee weeknight visit to Epicures. The soup starter was great and a really generous serving with fresh bread. My partner’s duck main was cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed the mixed chicken and prawn skewers. Lovely ambient vibes in the restaurant, the staff were very attentive and catered to my partner’s nut allergy. Looking forward to trying the outdoor seating when the weather is nicer ☀️
Fantastic vegetarian breakfast, great portion size for the price, lovely service. Not sure why the rating isn't higher!!
We had a great visit for lunch. The food was delicious, staff were friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.
What a great start of the day . Very smooth and nice coffee with amazing Egg Royal. Place was busy for Tuesday morning but no doubt why!! Must visit place .
The food here was fantastic! Arrived for brunch, so only half of the menu was available, the remainder is available at 12 noon. Full of flavour and well presented. Sadly they ran out of sweet tea, which we were excited to try! The decor downstairs is cute with all the foliage. There is an outside seating area under a canopy, which is very picturesque. Upstairs (inside) is nice but not as bright as downstairs. Parking on a Sunday can be a little tricky but there are plenty of side roads with spaces.
Great food, dog friendly, plenty of seating inside and out. Food allergies covered. Service amazing.
We visited here for breakfast after seeing some images of their food and how good it looked. The waiter* who greeted us was polite, professional and well presented (as were all the staff that we were able to see). We came just after opening and already there was a few people inside and more arriving as we sat which speaks volumes. Having seen images of the eggs Benedict and ham I chose to order this to see if it was as good as it looked... it absolutely was. If I am visiting somewhere new, I always go for this if it is on the menu and this has been the best by far anywhere yet! My wife had the mac-muffin and everything about that was great too. We could tell the patty was absolutely of great quality and cooked fresh, not a reheat or such. Combined with two well made and well presented coffees, this was a great experience overall and definitely a place we will be venturing back to when we are in Glasgow. *I have since learned that our "waiter" was in fact the general manager, Martin. Professional in any sense.
The cauliflower flatbread was delicious and beautifully presented. There's lots of good veggie options to choose from. The chicken club was fresh and tasty with lean, perfectly cooked bacon. Service was very good, everyone we dealt with was polite and friendly. I always enjoy my visit here and would definitely recommend it if you've never been. It is a little expensive though. £43 (including tip) for cauliflower flatbread, chicken club, 2 fries, Americano and a hot chocolate.
Great vibe in here. Popped in on our way back from an event, got a table easily as a walk in, ordered snacks and drinks. Good service and friendly staff.
Epicures in the West End of Glasgow are known for their inviting atmosphere and diverse menu offerings, making it a popular spot for breakfast. Many patrons rave about the quality of the food, often highlighting the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Common favourites on the breakfast menu include classic options like full Scottish breakfasts, eggs Benedict, and a variety of vegetarian choices. We had the Full Scottish and avo and streaky bacon delicious 😋 People often appreciate the cosy ambience, which is perfect for a relaxing morning meal, whether you're dining alone or with friends. The staff generally receives positive remarks for their friendly and accommodating service. Coffee is frequently mentioned as a strong point, with visitors enjoying expertly brewed drinks that complement their meals well. We had tea served in individual teapots matching the crockery Overall, Epicures is considered a great choice for breakfast in Glasgow's West End, offering a delightful experience that combines good food and a welcoming vibe.
Lovely place for brunch. Good menu with options but not overwhelming with too many to pick from. Great cocktails to pair with brunch too.
The place is looking great after the refurb. Service was quick. Friendly staff. The food was nothing extraordinary but it was certainly nice, and the portions were generous. The lamb was very tasty. Pints were properly cold which I appreciate. We paid with an Itison voucher so it was very good value!
Service was excellent during our visit. Surprised to see other reviews saying differently. Coffee was very good as well and they offered both oat and soy milk options. Atmosphere was the topper. Such a lovely place. Would come back if ever in town.
Best breakfast in a long time. Have all the healthy stuff yoghurt fruit etc. but they excel at the cooked breakfast. Great tea and coffee options. Love it.
A lovely surprise. The inside of the entrance has a large curtain over it and when it opened up it was a great view of the place. The staff found us a place despite not booking and it being very busy. I had Shakshuma and a ginger beer while my wife had eggs benedict with ham. Both were delicious. A friendly place with all age groups and not extortionate. Highly recommended.
Can't understand the hate this place gets for portion sizes, came for breakfast/brunch, shakshuka really delicious served with pretty much a loaf of sourdough. Service was without fault, friendly even when confronted with some special requests/sides. Only booked it about an hour before sitting down and the table was all set up ready to go for 7 people, bon.
Nice restaurant. Dropped in on the off chance and despite being busy, they survey us quickly. Nice food with some interesting options. Friendly staff.
The best of the best! I ordered the steak with pepper corn sauce that is so good! I enjoyed it very much.
Lovely, friendly restaurant. Service was great and food was lovely. French toast with bacon and syrup 😋 followed by a nice coffee. It's what cold winter mornings are made for.
We had dinner here and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and the place looks nice. The schnitzel was particularly big and tasty, which it better be anyway since it costs £20 with no sides included. Sadly they have the ridiculous money grab called "service charge", so -1 star for that, as this greed needs to stop. Funnily enough we would've left a bigger tip than the service charge if it weren't added. Your prices are high anyway - just pay your staff properly.
Stunning location. We came for brunch. The food was tasty, although portions small. I would have liked some additional garnish (similar to previous post photos). The waffle chicken was good but half the plate was empty, and could have done with additional syrup and a spicy sauce. The French toast, again was good but a much smaller portion than previous. The staff were good and the place is lovely inside. I got a bloody Mary cocktail that was delicious.
Went here for brunch. Had the lobster and prawn roll and the Epicures Benedict, both were delicious and we would have it again. Also, had the choux bun (dark chocolate top with mango and passionfruit creme) and chocolate brownie. Again, both delicious. Service was quick and friendly. I just think the prices are a little steep compared to other places in the area.
Great spot for brunch and café. Super selections of many things. Friendly, helpful staff. Would deff recommend. Enjoyable for all.
I have to admit, the decor and ambiance of this place are on point, and the staff are super welcoming. However, the food is way overpriced, and it's just not worth it. Sure, the dishes look pretty, but the taste doesn't quite hit the mark, which is a real shame. I left feeling kind of let down, despite the overall pleasant experience. Given the cost of the meal, I'm not sure I'd come back again.
I just went with my sister and some friends for lunch. I've been here about 5 times in the past two years, and always greatly enjoyed the brunch options and the interior with the shabby chic and the tree in the middle. Unfortunately, the decor has been changed and it's not as welcoming and cozy as it was before. Instead of the tree, there are now additional bar benches, which separate the restaurant from the bar and make for quiete a stark separation. We sat near the windows. I'm quite tall and the new black bench along the window is higher than the chairs across the table, and too high for the table, so it was a bit uncomfortable to use the table to eat and drink. The bench furthermore has a very low slung back, so it was impossible to lean backwards to sit comfortably. I had to sit ramrod straight all lunch. The food and service was good as usual, I just wouldn't recommend the French onion soup as it was a bit lackluster. Otherwise, all good and everyone enjoyed their choice!
We all had salads which were nice. The restaurant was cold ; it was a wet grey day in Feb but we were all cold whilst sitting having lunch
We popped in for coffee and pastries recently all of which were very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The dinner menu looks nice so must try this.
Be aware the portion size of the Avocado Toast is small. A bit disappointing there wasn’t even enough avocado to cover to the edges of the bread.
Cute wee place with delicious food and good service, but some portions are small and overpriced. I enjoyed the french toast - the peanut butter and banana is a combination I didn't know I needed. However, I was disappointed the portion size isn't big enough for a brunch, and certainly not for the price. If the food didn't take as long to come out and wasn't overpriced, I would've ordered another.
Lovely decoration makes you feel you are somewhere else in Europe. But there are some negatives I have tried to go another 2 times even tho on Google says it’s shuts at 5 kitchen shut down at 4 which is a bit of inconvenience. The portions are tiny for what you paying. Also I ordered the chicken sandwich it came out a burger which didn’t describe it at the menu as a burger. Service was ok I will give it another chance but 1st time was a bit disappointing
Unfortunately, after waiting for 40 mins for our coffee we were told that our whole order had not been processed. This was bad luck as we had already waited 30 mins for a table and were quite hungry. The staff were very apologetic and kind but the coffee and food felt rushed as a result. The coffee was fine but too hot to drink until the very end of our lunch (at 4pm). The food itself was nice too but the presentation seemed a tad rushed due to the mix up. The staff kindly removed the cost of our coffees from the bill which was appreciated. I will definitely give them another chance in the future but our first experience could have been better.
Place is beautiful and the staff are friendly. The food badly let it down. I ordered a starter of goats cheese with caramelised apple and roasted beetroot. What came was a plate of disappointment, the beetroot was raw as was the apple 3 little slices of apple not caramelised in the slightest and to top it off there was a hair in my salad, the staff gave us a slice of cake to make up for it after I asked for a slice for my friends birthday, that was delicious. I also got a burger which was only ok. Not very much sauce pretty tasteless.
Food it's nice but really not as nice as the price it's served at. And the 10% tip added at the bill makes you feel like you're in some fancy place rather than in a local restaurant for a lunch out. My take.
Had brunch a couple of Saturdays ago. Everything in the breakfast was overcooked and the hollandaise sauce was more like a thick custard than a sauce. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff but food a major let down
A shame, this place used to be phenomenal but it's gone downhill. The front of house guy is an absolute gem, super friendly and helpful, and it's got a nice atmosphere, but the food is well below average for the price. Thin, sad pancakes, sourdough, and breakfast roll. Generally poor quality food. Summed up by the ketchup - they've put cheap crap in a heinz bottle. Loved this place in the past but wouldn't come back.
Feels like the menu is slowly moving from memorable dishes to generic. The korean buttermilk chicken burger has been on the menu for years, first time i had it it blew me away, on my last visit i couldnt taste any if the korean glaze, it had also shrunk significantly. Just makes me sad. Great staff and a great venue, but the fantastic food is just a memory now
I went there for brunch after reading some reviews online. Not worth it. £18 for a coffee and Egg Benedicts which were hard boiled and really dry. The staff were friendly but it took them a really long time to take my order, then longer to bring the coffee and even longer to bring the egg Benedicts, even though the place was half empty when I arrived. Nobody approached the table after serving the food so by the time I noticed how bad the egg Benedict were I just didn't feel like waiting longer than I had already to eat and turn an already bad brunch into an uncomfortable situation. After I finished I waited for a long time looking around to ask for the bill but nobody came. I had to walk to the bar to ask for the bill and pay.
Popped in for a Sunday roast a few weeks back.. The lady serving us had a sour face the entire time and actually managed to go our entire visit without saying one word to us other than the total price when paying at the end. Also had to ask a few times regarding our drinks as they forgot to bring them. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. Shocker service for a west end place which used to be good. The roast was nice albeit a bit stingey on the offerings. Better places elsewhere.
Ate here today for brunch. Ordered the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. Menu said it was brioche with streaky bacon… didn’t really enjoy the meal as much as I thought I would have. Wasn’t until later that day I realised that it was totally different from what the menu stated. I actually got a crusty bread fresh toast, with back bacon… and it was kind of tasteless. Not really good that the restaurant is subbing out ingredients without advising you before hand, plus - I’m not sure crusty bread is supposed to be used in fresh toast. Nice vibe and staff, just a shame about the issues with food 🤷🏻♂️
Went in for coffee and was really disappointed in the service we were given. Asked for a menu for drinks to see if they had any specialities, and was told they just had normal drinks. They begrudgingly brought over a menu, and told us again they had “nothing special”. We also asked if we could be told what pastries or cakes they had and was told “to go up and look”. The pastries had no signage so difficult to tell what they were. My drink was also brought out quite a bit after the rest of my party so they’d finished by the time my coffee came out. Really disappointed by the service as it used to be a favourite and it felt like our presence there was disturbance. The pastry however was very tasty!
Very slow service (over an hour after ordering to get our food), which could have been forgiven if the food was good. I ordered Vongole which unfortunately had all the flavour of water. Similar reaction from the people with me for their meals Won’t be back
Salad Nicoise, as far as I am concerned, has tuna as an ingredient. Epicure’s, at £17.50, was half a lettuce, one potato cut up, possibly 2 boiled eggs but maybe one and a half, some olives, some sun dried tomatoes and a serious drenching of vinaigrette. The menu said Jersey Royal potatoes but they were not-they were ordinary salad type potatoes with the eyes still in. The menu mentioned Kalamata olives but most were not Kalamata, which are very recognisable. Service was lackadaisical and slow. My two companions were not thrilled either. Maybe we were unlucky. That’s all I have to say.
Not great. Dinner with friends visiting from overseas, waited over an hour for food (on a quiet Tuesday evening) and only one of our 4 meals was finished. The vongole was tasteless and weirdly the chicken schnitzel was incredibly dry and overcooked. Server took one bottle of wine off the bill but what we had wanted was a nice evening and not a discount on an incredibly disappointing evening. Maybe if more attention had been paid to operating the place and not messing around with the windows and outside seating the new owners would have a viable business. As it is we will be taking our custom to Peckhams around the corner where the service and food is always great. Sadly this will have been our last time at Epicures, too many other decent places locally to bother with here again.
I've been here a few times, the location is great. The food (depending what you have) can be a hit or miss, maybe a bit of salt is needed. My personal favourite are the veggie ones. However, this time one of the staff seem to be having a bad day, a moustache gentleman treated us with quite disrespectful demeanours; we did not get the menu till 30mins, and food was quite a slow service. The atmosphere is quite good here, with open space and good seatings.
Arrived in plenty of time to enjoy the breakfast menu, but despite trying to draw the attention of waiting staff, nearly half an hour had passed, making it four, yes that's right, FOUR minutes over the breakfast time limit. My order was refused. Had I not been there with friends, I would have walked out for sure. No effort was made to accommodate my order, in fact the waiter seemed overjoyed that I'd missed out. I had to choose lunch now, which ended up being an overpriced fishcake which didn't taste of very much. Fortunately there are other much more accommodating establishments very nearby. Wouldn't rush back.
Overall very disappointing. 7 people.... Maybe 2 were 100% happy. Three of us had poached eggs as part of the meal all over cooked. While the full fry up was good the black pudding was non existent ( was the end of the round and rather than giving a substitute or cutting a new one put the bearest sliver on the plate). Tacos were the worst tacos I've seen really just salads on taco shells with store bought guacamole.... The fish tacos were particularly disappointing. Staff were nice, if slow, the interior very nice, but I if you can't cook poached eggs.... you might as well give in..... I'll be sticking to beefcake and duck club... Much better. As a quick addition my son felt the pint of Guinness was also poor, although not as bad as his fish tacos
Prawn cocktail was indescribably bogging For some reason they deviated from the traditional much loved Marie Rose sauce to what tasted exactly like liberal slathers of straight tomato ketchup We asked if it was a mistake and the head waitress told us it is always served with Heinz tomato ketchup, I’m quoting directly there You can imagine our disgust We asked for the chef and he noted that on the menu it said the prawn cocktail was served with a Bloody Mary sauce and not the traditional Marie Rose sauce, which to some extent was fair enough although you would’ve expected a spicy take on Marie Rose not ketchup Still, you want to taste it, pure bogging
My husband took me to Epicures on Valentines day, I really love their strawberry margarita. We sat at the end of the bar, it was quiet with no other customers at the bar. There was 4 members of staff at the bar. One girl was making drinks for the staff and another male barman was pouring drinks for a table in the restaurants. The 4 of them were all huddled talking at the end of the bar, after 5 mins still no one came to serve us. A lady came in and stood to the side of us and was served straight away. We spoke to another member of staff who had came from the upper gallery restaurant area and mentioned we were not happy about being sat for over 5 minutes and then to have another customer come in and served straight away. She looked as us as if we were in the wrong with a stare that i can only describe was the look of disgust. I said to my husband lets just leave, she then shouts at us i will get someone to serve you. No apology just the look of disgust towards us again. A male member of staff came over and asked us what we wanted to drink, we asked him why we were ignored he stated " I do not work behind the bar, but i am here to serve you now.. ok" he was also very rude and still no apology. We reluctantly stayed for a drink. We have been previously a couple of times for drinks and staff have been great and the cocktails excellent that is why my husband took me for my favourite cocktail in Epicures. Unfortunately due to this issue i doubt we will ever be back.
No room at the inn. We turned up on a Sunday for brunch. Lady in front of us offered walk up table. When it came to two of us told not accepting walk up. Fair enough must be full so left. Looked online plenty of availability at the time. Guy just couldn't be bothered to check and really unfriendly. I think he just didn't like the look of us. I won't be going back again. We had a great breakfast just down the road instead!
Very nice staff but that’s the only positive. Mushroom parfait was tasteless, ‘salsa’ on my 2 king prawns (other table had 3) was tomato ketchup. Inedible steak served with Burger King style frozen chips, tiny sliver of overcooked salmon with half a roast potato ( meant to be fondant) and 1 small stem of broccoli. Avg £25 for a main and £10 for a starter. I would avoid this place again.
