I consider myself well-versed in Indian cuisine, particularly in the Glasgow area, having been fortunate enough to sample the best the scene has to offer, but I was utterly unprepared for the experience of Kinara! The food was second to none, a medley of original ideas combined with rich, traditional flavours that started with the appetiser poppadoms & chutneys and intensified through the starters and mains, ultimately culminating in a culinary experience I have nothing to compare to, absolutely fantastic! The waiting staff were friendly, helpful and prompt with our order, leaving us to absorb the ambience of this beautiful restaurant, situated in the Trongate a few yards from Argyle street. Ordinarily I'd recommend specific dishes, but everything we sampled was exemplary, so I can only advise that you choose to your taste and trust that the chef will exceed your expectations! A must-visit for any serious connoisseur of fine Indian cuisine, Kinara is an experience I hope to revisit again and again, absolutely flawless.

The food was absolutely exceptional—every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the outstanding service. The staff were attentive, warm, and made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be returning soon.

Beautiful food! For us, the monk fish was a little spicy - and we like spice!! But the fish was cooked brilliantly. I'm fussy with monkfish as so many over cook it but I was lovely and beautifully chard. Lamb chops I like rare, so overcooked for me - it was medium well. But the spice and flavour was beaut! Garlic and coriander nan was so tasty - and not stodgy. Lovely and thin and plenty garlic 😍 We will defo return!!

As far as Indian food goes, you can’t do any better than this. Their cocktails are absolutely fabulous (best strawberry daiquiri I’ve ever had!). When it comes to their food, it is just incredible. Everything was absolutely delicious, and there’s a dish for everyone. Have to highlight their peshwari naan, it’s the best one I’ve ever had. Staff were also so friendly and helpful. If you want good Indian food, this is the place!!!

This place was fantastic. Food was delicious, hot , tasty and plentiful. We were a party of six , with 2 vegan guests. Everyone one of us had a great meal. Special mention to Z, S and L for their amazing service. The decor was also beautiful 😍 Don't hesitate to eat here.

Had an excellent meal here - everything was delicious. The service is lovely - attentive, friendly, polite. Nothing was too much to ask. The guys were knowledgable about allergens - no hesitation, which gives confidence. The highlights for us were the saffron prawn and monkfish starters. Also, I love that they make effort with the presentation of the mocktails - just because I have to drive, doesn’t mean I don’t deserve a fancy wee beverage. Overall, I’d highly recommend Kinara. I don’t know why it’s not spoken about more - it deserves to have its praises sung!

Lovely atmosphere. Amazing food with extensive menu suitable for meat eaters, veggie/vegan and dairy free (and all very clearly labelled which was much appreciated). Friendly and attentive staff. Although we didn’t have one, we were very impressed with the cocktail menu - there was some very unique and interesting sounding cocktails. Also enjoyed the music. Will be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visiting from the USA and this is the best Indian food we have ever had. Zein was a fantastic server. He gave us great suggestions and was so kind when he said he would switch the food out if we didn’t like it since he suggested it. But no need because we absolutely loved all of it! He even gave us a dessert for our anniversary. 10 out of 10 for food, service, and atmosphere. Will come again when visiting Glasgow.

Fantastic meal! Everything was absolutely delicious and the service really made the experience. Our waiter took the time to explain the history behind some of the dishes and gave us some excellent recommendations. We really appreciated the personal touch. Thank you so much! We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in Glasgow!

The food was delicious. Complex, balanced, light. I particularly enjoyed the panipuri starters that left a healthy heat after too. Also, the peshawari nan is particularly good. I also had a mango laksi for the first time. It was like drinking and eating dessert all at once. So good. We'll be back. Would love to try the big sharing plates on Sundays.

Wow! We went here as it was near our accommodation and had good reviews. Well it deserves the rating. The curries are very diverse and the roti was the best we have ever had. Get a side of the potatoes and have an IPA.

I had a solo dinner last night and the staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Fulfilling needs before I even voiced them and they were happy to accommodate my needs. They gave me a chocolate on the way out. Such a sweet crew.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Tried the monkfish starter and for main I had goat curry. They were both excellent. Would thoroughly recommend. Very friendly service. Would love to return and try some of the other more unusual dishes on offer.

I love to eat Indian food but in Melbourne Australia it is not worth it as the portions sizes is to laugh at. So had to give Kinara a go as it has won awards in Scotland. Food based on the Kerala region of India as the head chef is from that region was very flavoursome. Our family of three enjoyed every morsel of the currys served. The staff were very attentive and great customer service. Portion sizes were just right. A far cry on what we get in Australia. Well done to the Chef and the staff at Kinara. Thanks for making it a memorable night.

Found Kinara via trip advisor & must add number 1 on trip advisor!! We came for the festive lunch & as a regular Indian / curry eater this establishment did not disappoint, service 10/10, food 10/10 will I come back again ? Most definitely this is a must try place, Marky

I went here with a large group of friends. I've been here before, we liked it then so decided to go again. I had the samosa chaat, seafood kari, mushroom rice and deep fried anchovies. I've had the anchovies before and really loved that dish. However, the seafood kari was outstanding, I wasn't expecting that much prawn, mussels and squid in the dish, it was a massive portion. It was probably one of the best curries I've had and would definitely go back for that again.

Wonderful food served by the loveliest staff. We had the butter chicken & lamb bhuna with garlic coriander naan. The naan was the best we’ve had, & the lamb bhuna was our favorite of the 2. The chicken was a little sweeter than we were used to but still lovely with a generous portion of protein. Would def come back!

If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavours and first Class service from our fabulous waiter Sattik then Kinara is the restaurant for you! Absolutely loved my experience at Kinara! Food: Excellent! Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, but the Malai Kofta stood out—it was simply wow. Rich and perfectly balanced. Service: Top-notch. The staff were warm, attentive, and made sure everything was just right throughout the meal. If you’re in Glasgow and craving quality Indian cuisine, Kinara is highly recommended. Will definitely be returning!

A really lovely place to pop in. Came across this place randomly while checking out nearby shops and fancied a bite. Quick, hot and tasty meals. The beers were good too and the decor is cute, a great place to people watch with a pint too.

Fantastic find on my 'urban safari' in my home city. Was there early, about 6pm and a lone diner. The staff was friendly and welcoming, taking me straight to a table by the window. The service was swift, they checked about allergies, informed me if something was spicy and arranged for a milder version. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with flowers and cherry blossom trees, the music was authentic but not too loud. The staff were attentative even when it began to get busier. The food was truly amazing! Pani Puri consisted of four crispy pastry balls filled with potato and chickpeas. The sauce certainly added some spicyness to this dish. Can only describe the eating experience as eating a savoury oyster shell of ice cream on a summer's day. A true joy! To follow Lazeez Mirch Paneer a punchy tomato and pepper stew with cubed panner floating. Decided on Malabar Paratha in place of rice, this did not disappoint, it was flaky, crispy and totally tasty. Thank you to everyone at Kinara Glasgow! Totally brilliant experienceabd can't wait to go with the family next time.

Very friendly staff, very attentive & accommodating. My boyfriend and I had a really nice little date night. Food was very tasty. All in all, we had a nice evening. Thanks for the 2 x free shots! I have to say, the staff really impressed me :) Favourites - chicken pakora, chicken korma. My boyfriend’s dessert of kathal cake was amazing too. Very good!! My only criticisms - first time having lobster like this, was expecting it to be a little bit more succulent, it was a bit tougher than expected - my Gulab jamun could have been hotter, and had more syrup. It was a bit dry and a bit stale.

Beautiful restaurant and goregous meal. The food was faultless , tasty and massive portions ! Very welcoming. The service was great very attentive and i am gluten free and the waiter went out his way to let me know what was gluten free and what wasn’t and went through everything on the table what we ordered if i could have it or not. I would 100% recommend coming here if you want a great indian. Probably one of the best garlic chilli chicken i have had ! I will be back

Wonderful experience. The staff are so kind and attentive. I ordered a vegan dish, and it was too spicy for me (I should have checked), and they kindly replaced it for me at no extra cost. I felt very looked after and safe to express a change to the dish. The vegan options are great and delicious! I highly recommend it.

Myself and my mum had a lovely great value lunch here today. The introductory deal until the end of June is £9.99 for two courses, which will increase to £12.99 thereafter, which is still extremely good value! The food was very good and we could tell it was made with quality ingredients. The presentation of the food was a bit fancy too, The service was very good. The gentleman and lady were very polite and friendly. The decor is nice too. We recommend and we will go back 😀

Amazing experience on Sunday! Great service forget the servers name but he walked us through the menu and we went for on chicken started (best chicken we’ve had in a while, very juice and flavourful) and a Lamb Curry (also amazing and flavoured well). If we ever return to Glasgow we will be back!

We went for dinner tonight. We booked a table & was seated straight away. Wide range of drinks & cocktails. The menu is extensive and lots of choice. We both had starters, main courses, side dishes, dessert and coffee. Everything was delicious & would recommend you to go & try for yourselves. We will certainly be going back again.

Our experience at Kinara was great! Our customer service was absolutely amazing, everyone was so attentive throughout our meal making it an enjoyable experience, alongside the food being amazing. Our waiter couldn’t have been nicer giving us shots on the house, and explaining the amazing efforts that go into the cocktail making. Would definitely recommend and be back!

Great experience! Food was amazing and staff were so pleasant and professional. Our server provided knowledgeable menu guidance. The restaurant decor is lovely and was comfortably heated. It was a quiet winter Monday late afternoon and only a few customers so atmosphere was a bit quiet but was still very pleasant. Highly recommend.

Very friendly service. Food was very tasty and different from the usual Indian restaurant fare. One point is that our sharing starter had a mixture of spicy & milder pieces. It would have been god to have had this pointed out as if you start with a spicy one, you can’t taste the other pieces. Enjoyed it very much and will be back.

The clan was out and about in the town. Spotted this place as we were walking by so thought we would give it a go. We asked for a table of 6 and I fear that we got a new waiter as he said we had to wait for a manager to sit us in an empty restaurant. Once seated we were spoilt with the number of veggie options on the menu. I saw the Chaat street food section which is a personal favourite of mine so I ordered 2 of them!!! Was told that the samosa one was with 2 samosas so I got a little scared finishing them. (Turns out they were not the average sized samosas, they were the small petite size.) The food took some time to arrive, seeing as we were the only ones in, felt a little bit weird. Drinks came and even got some extra glasses for the water, but seeing as we had limited space on the table we advice the waiter we didn't need so many as only a few wanted just water. But this was ignored and we were advised "you might need them." Once the food arrived it did look lovely. But we had to nudge the waiter as a few things had been forgotten. (Let alone the limited amount of paneer in the dishes.) Sadly the food was average. The looks were the tastiest part of the food. I stopped talking pictures of the food as I wasn't impressed with the flavors. Can totally see why hipsters or pretentious people would really enjoy it. Yet it just wasn't for me. Everyone shared food to try and find something they really enjoyed. But it was just ok in all honesty. If happy have gone for an average 3 stars, but the service dropped one. I would say this is a one off because they have some great reviews. Or they just get hipsters who feel they give a high review for the price they are paying. Hope you have a better experience than we did. Enjoy.

C
Claire

Very disappointing experience. For groups of four or more, only a set menu is offered, which is extremely unfair for vegetarians as there are hardly any suitable options in set menu. If a set menu is mandatory, there should at least be a proper vegetarian alternative or allow guests to choose their own dishes. On top of that, the tone was poor. Dining out should feel enjoyable and inclusive, not restrictive. Restaurants should not take more bookings than they can handle just to make money at the cost of customer experience.
