Mother’s Day Brunch was amazing. The wait staff friendly, the food delicious, & the bread pudding to die for. The whole experience was superb except for the 40 minute wait past our reservation time due to the party before us arriving late (no fault of the restaurant.) This in turn pushed our reservation back & we had 3 restless & hungry children. Otherwise our experience was excellent. Definitely will be back and will recommend to others.

Great little place with small town atmosphere. The staff was welcoming and professional. We have dined out consistently for years and been to some amazing restaurants during that time and this place was the best we have eaten at in years. The porkchop was perfectly cooked, along with the salmon and the chicken. The orange vinaigrette dressing was perfect for the salad. If you are ever in Glen Rose, TX, take the time to visit the brilliant little restaurant off of the main road. You won't regret it!

We had a large family group and 50th wedding anniversary celebration and Kelli and her team made everything perfect for us! The food was excellent and she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The setting is so beautiful and not to mention the food was absolutely incredible!

A quaint, bustling little establishment best experienced on their breezy patio in the evening, imo. I would advise making reservations as the crowd shows up quickly after opening, and it will remain no surprise why. Will be recommending to everyone! The menu was fantastic. The Parmesan Truffle fries were a particular favorite of mine.

My family of three had a wonderful dining experience here. We loved the inviting decorations and soft jazz music playing. We tried the voodoo shrimp pasta, which had a great flavor without being spicy, which I appreciated. My husband had the steak, which he enjoyed. The creme brûlée was absolutely fantastic. The only thing to mention was the parking situation, since there doesn’t seem to be a dedicated paved parking lot, we were a little unsure where to park. But there was space in front and a grass lot behind. A wonderful dining experience and we will definitely return the next time we are in town!

Visited Riverhouse Grill for the first time on a visit to glen rose and had a good experience. The restaurant has that quaint small town feel with small town prices to match. The food was tasty and I really enjoyed both the Cajun pasta and the crème brûlée. On a nice night the patio is an amazing place to dine.

Great burgers and fried catfish. The sweet potato fries are worth the upgrade. Only got a picture of the cream brûlée. It was creamy and not eggy tasting at all. Had I tried to write this review before eating it, I wouldn’t have even gotten any it went so fast.

10/10 we came here driving through town on a whim. Before we entered we debating going to a restaurant we’ve already been to before as it’s easier to play it safe. We said you know what maybe it will be worth the risk of trying something new and boy were we right!! This is by far the best restaurant in town & our town of Stephenville. From the fries to the burger and the salad it was all exquisite the waitress was friendly and understanding of our toddler. We will definitely be going back! DELICIOUS!

Wonderful overall experience stopping for dinner at the Riverhouse Grill. Great ambiance, service and food. Loved eating indoors, the atmosphere was cozy and charming. Our waiter went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated and welcome. He made sure to connect with everyone in the family, checked with everyone often and with a warm smile. The food was great. Mashed potatoes were delicious! Would definitely recommend the Creme Brûlée. Will make sure to stop by on future visits to Glenn Rose from now on.

Yep, we showed up on the opening day of the Promise without a reservation. We had a small wait time, but the food served on the porch was really good. I'm not an outdoors eating kind of guy, but I did it anyway. My group was bragging about how good the food was, and it was so good I even got some to go. We are moving to the area soon, this will be our spot in a year or so.

Our waitress, though running around with several other tables, was amazing. She was attentive, kind, answered any questions we had and was honestly just amazing. The food and the atmosphere was amazing. Our drinks were constantly filled, she checked on us several times throughout the meal and was so patient with the 3 littles we had. Definitely will come back when we pass back through.

Only negatives were that the items we wanted they had ran out of...which means those must be really good. We will have to get there earlier next time!

Wife and I ventured outside our norm and tried. Food was delicious (Pork Chop, Gouda Mac and Cheese, Wedge Salad). All was outstanding and such a nice venue. Thank you all for having us the service was great and thank you for the delicious treat! Definitely made the list for norms!

Happened across this restaurant by accident. We were greeted warmly. My hus lband had the mushroom Swiss burger. I had the catfish and fries. Excellent food. Abigail was our server. She was really nice. Overall a great place.

First time at Riverhouse. Great experience. Started with Tempura Shrimp Cocktail, very yummy, and shared a Texas Armadillo Punch, soooo good! We both had the steak with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the potatoes and veggies were seasoned nicely. Topped off dinner with a good cup of coffee and Creme Brulee and Key Lime Pie! Aaahhhh... We're stuffed! The staff was friendly and loved the soft piano jazz playing through the evening. Look forward to returning.

Jess took very good care of our party of four (2 adults, 2 kids); the food was excellent and the ambience was relaxing. The kids split the Voodoo Pasta, my husband the salmon, and I enjoyed the chicken Marsala.

What an unexpected surprise! I was traveling through the area and stumbled across this gem. I was instantly in love when I walked in due to the casual elegance of the place, which was only surpassed by the food. Having lived in NYC for 30 years I have had some amazing food. This place ranked right up there with the best of them. Good, clean simple food full of flavor but not over done. Our server, Sherry, was also terrific. She was very friendly and fun and seemed to enjoy serving us. This restaurant is perfect. I wish I could take it with me.

I made a reservation here for a large group for Friday night dinner. The staff was super helpful making us all comfortable after I forgot to add another seat to our party last minute. The food and cocktails were super delicious! Only part that struck the wrong cord was being charged for olive oil that we all thought came with the bread. Everyone in our party got charged 34 cents 3 times on the bill. We all thought that was very odd. Other then that we had a great dinner and I highly recommend Riverhouse Grill to anyone looking for a cozy dinner atmosphere!

Today was our first visit and what a great place! Ariana was our server and she was awesome! She was friendly, explained all the specials and checked on us often. She was a true joy with excellent customer service. We had the blue cheese burgers and fries. They were delicious! Made perfectly! Ariana made a very good drink as well. The atmosphere is wonderful, soft lighting and soft jazz music. We hope to come back again very soon. I would suggest reservations on the weekend since they have limited seating.

Went with the family for dinner. It has a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. Our meals were absolutely delicious and the portion sizes left a little extra. Pricing is average. I will be back again next time we're in town again!

I highly recommend stopping here to eat if you are in the area. Both the food and service are wonderful, and the house is gorgeous. We stopped here for dinner after visiting Fossil Rim. The service was warm, friendly, and very efficient. They were also great with kids and have booster seats. The food was delicious. The boys had the Texan steak, which was excellent. I had gnocchi, which I enjoyed both when it was served, and the next day leftovers. We also loved the house bread, truffle fries, and Texas cocktail. I am sorry I was too full for the bread pudding.

This last Saturday we went there for Valentine’s Day dinner. Everything was amazing from the starter all the way to the dessert. Let me tell you the service was great. Everybody was very kind. I’m very informative. We loved it so much. We went to brunch the next day, which was also amazing. I feel like everybody should know about this hidden gem.

What a delightful place! This restaurant is in a beautifully refurbished old house not far from the town square. The atmosphere is cozy, quiet, and romantic. The food was beautifully-prepared and delicious.

Comfortable / relaxing atmosphere with quality home cooked food. The chicken marsala was great and my work colleagues seemed to enjoy their filet and pork chop. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice fall weather. Our waitress was friendly and punctual, but could have been more knowledgeable about the menu. Prices are a little on the high side, but the food quality was worth it.

Picked this place by chance and am so glad we did! Went in for lunch and had the chicken salad sandwich, with the fries. I opted to upgrade to the truffle fries with aioli! So worth it! Wait staff was polite, and well trained. Provided us information on the specials of the day! One of the best chicken salads I have had! Great job with this place. It is located in the old McPherson house near downtown. Parking was random, but close! Definitely worth your time to stop by!

This is place to take a date too. The food is so good. We had the voodoo pasta and the marsala chicken. The pasta was not to spicey even with the blackened shrimp in it. The chicken marasala had mashed potatoes and vegetables the sauce was the best I have ever had which enhanced everything else. It did lack in the dessert menu though. Bread was home made too good with butter kinda flat by itself though other than thr service was great and the food delicious

What a beautiful place! The food was excellent! We ordered the garlic dipping oil with the bread and Truffle Fries as an appetizer, the garlic dipping sauce of the fries was out of this world! As an entree we ordered the baked salmon and the bolognese pasta, the flavor of the meat sauce was very rich (and it was a lot) and the salmon was cooked to perfection! To close the night, we had their bread pudding signature (this one is a MUST)! Even if you don't have room for dessert, order it to go, you won't regret it 😎 The service was outstanding, they were very professional, polite, friendly and with a lot of confidence! Haven't seen a staff team that worked that hard and good in a long time. Our waiter made our drinks, a cosmo and a lemon drop, one of the best that I have ever tried. If you have the opportunity, visit this gem!

5-29-2024 What a relaxing place for my lunch today. Peaceful with quiet soothing music. The interior of the building adds charm to the dining area! Friendly, attentive staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken salad on toasted bread with a small dinner salad 1/2-1/2 sweet tea! I always like visiting Glen Rose Texas and all they have to offer!🤓🤓. (Highly recommend and I WILL BE BACK)

Great food a decent seating. We had the bad luck of being seated by the front door though. Other than that it was wonderful. Food was perfect (we had steak), service was impeccable, atmosphere was very warm and comfortable. I believe it an old converted house. I would go again.

Came for dinner expecting burgers after looking thru the reviews but not realizing that was only on their lunch menu. Thankfully, they allowed us to order burgers because we were really feeling that over the fancier entrees on the dinner menu. Also tried the Gouda Mac and cheese and the queso. Both our burgers we upgraded to include truffle fries which were actually very good. They did not skimp on the truffle flavor which is rare so I will applaud that. It was rather cramped and our party was 8 people so we sat outside but they had small heaters to plug in which made it much more bearable

Was looking for a spot to eat and although we didn't eat here the desserts beckoned us in...had the white chocolate bourbon bread pudding with cranberries and the key lime pie! Both were delicious however the bread pudding won us over! The inside is as charming as the outside!

Food was very good, and a good value. It was a bit loud and crowded. Also although we had reservations they wanted to put us in a tiny table next to the front door.

First time enjoying this restaurant. Wife and I came out for a nice meal and we received THAT! I had the catfish and the wife had the shrimp pasta. Guy's I will tell you the catfish was perfectly breaded and seasoned and not dry! Omg I could have had 5 more pieces of fish. My hubby and I rode our Harley over to your beautiful restaurant, and we were seated by a wonderfull hostess who was very kind and accommodating. We were approached by a server named Sheri (sp?), and she took our drink order, brought it to us and asked what we would have for dinner. I told her it was our first time there; that we would love to simply chill a bit. She told us to holler at her when we were ready but kept coming back to check. Good service, right? Well, she came back twice, each time addressing my husband as “sweetheart..” He would later tell me at home he was very uncomfortable. He took to observing that Sheri did not seem to be addressing other male patrons in this manner. The second time she did this, I ordered a drink, and she left with that order in mind, but she completely forgot me. Since she was talking sweet to my husband, I asked him to let her know I want the second drink I ordered. She approached our table and addressed him as “sweetheart “ again, and I looked up from my menu and said, “Are you talking to me?” She looked taken aback and replied, “Oh, Everyone!” She abruptly walked away. She pretty much patronized me with a few “How are you doing” gestures, but ignored my needs. Sheri picked up my husband’s plate and trash and left mine in front of me without asking if I needed a doggie bag or anything at all. I was professional at that point. I have waited tables in fine dining, and you speak to the woman if you are a female server if you are a female server. You address her and attend to both persons in the same way. We still tipped her well, but I must say, she needs some guidance. My experience was not good. The food and atmosphere was awesome! We will be back but I will request a different server. Kudos to your beautiful hostess!

Quaint Colonial turned into a restaurant which has some nice charm. The Voodoo pasta was good bjt was not quite what I expected l. The shrimp was cajun seasoned snd nicely done. The rest was fettuccine pasta and sauce not spicy at all so not what I consider cajun. Ahi tuna was nicely done but rice was dry and veggies didn’t have much flavor. The desserts were good. Overall probably a 4.3 or so on average. Wait staff was very nice and polite.

An oasis! Great service, pleasant staff, sat on the porch, perfect. Wasn't crazy about the squash ravioli, however. Came soaked in olive oil... didn't sit well with me at all. A friend ordered the same... same thoughts about the dish. We'll give it another try, however, as it may have been that one item we didn't care for. The experience makes me want to visit again.

Good Experience, Call ahead! Staff here is very polite, Wait times were true to set expectations (about 45 minutes on a Saturday evening). It was hot out when we visited but the staff did offer to move us inside when seating was available, we declined to move but perhaps should have since our waters were quickly consumed and were left thirsty more than once. Despite that we still had a positive experience overall. The gouda mac and cheese was hot and flavorful and the well-toasted topping was buttery, crispy and complimented it well. The whiskey-glazed pork chop had great flavor, but was slightly on the dry-side although I'd still recommend it. Voodoo shrimp pasta was well-seasoned but not spicy. No complaints from my family here. Overall we had a great experience here and enjoyed our meals but there is a price premium for taste and portion-size.

My wife and I recently attended a retreat nearby and stopped by this quaint restaurant. Make sure you make a reservation before stopping by. However, they gave us a seat on the patio. We ordered a 16oz ribeye dinner with a house salad and shared it. It was incredibly delicious! The steak and mashed potato was savory and the salad was fresh. The bread rolls were soft and tasty. Overall, the food was great, but it was expensive. Take this into consideration before stopping by.

Stopped for lunch Easter weekend. The burger was ok. The catfish was fine. The young woman who was seating guests and serving as well was very frazzled. She said she didn’t want me to sit in the porch because she didn’t want me to get bumped. We sat inside and she gave us our silverware to carry to our table. The appetizer came out after we started eating the main dishes. The waitress expressed having a lot of stress over the busy weekend. It was not a relaxing meal at all.

Nice environment and team. But sorry to say food mostly avg. We got, chips and queso (recommend), Ceasar salad (dressing tasted cheap, mayonnaise base), baked potato soup (recommend), pasta bolognese (recommend), kids alfredo pasta (ok - they liked it), salmon plate (salmon great, but vegetables WAY over salted and OVER thymed), creme brulee (custard good, OVER done on top), bread pudding (meh, sauce tasted like powdered sugar liquid - cheap). Presentation was good. Parking at night is odd, no lot and no lighting.

The turkey panini was very spare with the meat for the cost It took quite a while to get our food., Alot longer than was expected, our drinks would get low , or out quite often

Four of us went on a Saturday at around 12:30. I realize this is a busy time, but parking is pretty horrendous. It’s a gravel parking lot with lots of really rough areas and you have to kind of end up parking on the grass, because there’s no street parking available. We had gone down for a festival, and our relatives came from Oklahoma as well. The house is charming and the wraparound porch would be fun to sit on, but there were no tables available at all at that time of day. We were seated by the door, which wasn’t bad, And our waiter was very courteous. However, the wait for food was at least 40 minutes after we ordered. That seems a little bit long even with a busy Saturday. I ordered catfish which I expected to be excellent and it was a good piece of fish, and crispy, but the batter was way too salty. The tartar sauce tasted like mayo, just mayo. The coleslaw was blah. I would not eat either of those again. French fries were good. The guys had hamburgers and both loved them. They also enjoyed the fries. The other female at our table had the special, which was a shrimp salad with five pieces of shrimp. She enjoyed it. She also had a mimosa, which was pretty good. So, the main stars off are for the horrible wait, the not so great parking, and the food not being up to par from what you would expect when a restaurant says it’s a four-star restaurant. We would go back, but perhaps at a less busy time. And for those who do not know, they are closed between two and five, so be sure and plan accordingly. Hope this helps someone.😎

Loved this atmosphere! Unfortunately the food, not so much. The steaks are frozen, the mashed potatoes boxed, the vegetables undercooked. I was really excited to try this place and expected so much more with the food. At $35 for a steak, I didn't expect it to be frozen, I expected fresh. Saddened that I could have made the same dish at home. However, I loved the vibe, the atmosphere, the service, it made the trip well worth it.

This was a relatively nice place to stop. We sat on the patio and even though it was a warm day, it really wasn’t bad at all, apart from the flies🪰. We liked the atmosphere here, and our server Lucy was very friendly. The place is very homey. The food wasn’t the best, and the steaks we had weren’t really seasoned. The mashed potatoes were delicious but the veggies were just ok. The portion for the price was just ok as well. There aren’t many options for kiddos, so if you have kiddos, keep that in mind (I think it was just grilled cheese, corn dog, or penne pasta). All in all, it was mid for us.

My wife and I went here with my inlaws and some friends on 15 Feb. The food and atmosphere were good, however our server Sherri (sp?) was absolutely the worst. My mother in law ordered the voodoo pasta, which was prepared at an extreme level of spice for the general public without a warning on the menu. It was far too spicy for her to eat, and when she mentioned it to the server, Sherri ridiculed her and implied she was stupid by saying it's cajun, what did you expect? And then continued to make snide ridiculing comments for the remainder of our meal. Asking her if her water was too spicy and if she wanted something else is one example. I will never return or recommended this place as long as she is there.

Not sure if it was just an off day or not but I don't recall the last time I was apologized to so much. It was definitely a busy night for them. It took us 10 minutes to get water outside. The table behind us got a Caesars Salad while the other guest waited. Apparently there was an issue with it and the salad was sent back. The table on the other side receive a Voodoo Pasta with little to no Voodoo. It was sent back. The server arrived and took our cocktail order. The table behind us received an entre while still waiting for the salad. The other table's Pork Chops were not fully cooked and were sent back. Our drinks arrived and my wife's Vodka/Orange Juice came out with no ice in it. It was returned. The table behind us received the salad but in the mean time the gentleman's entre turned cold. While waiting for the drink, the server came out and told my wife another one was being made as "the Bus Boy dropped the remade one" (???). The one couple's meal finally came out but they were clearly upset. My wife's drink finally arrived. We then made the decision to just finish our drinks and leave fearing the unknown as we had an appointment in 45 minutes. The other table still had no entrees when we left. We left literally speechless.

The four of us came here for Valentine's day. They were way over booked. Our food came out in shifts and parts were cold. They also charged way over the normal price just because it was Valentine's day. Felt as if they took advantage of us on price just because of the day. Our bill with no drinks just the two of us was $195.00 we have came here in the past but because they took advantage of the holiday they lost our business and we will not come back.

Very disappointed. From the outside the restaurant looked promising. The eating experience was something else. Poor quality all round. $140 wasted!

So much potential. Cozy place right off of the square. Had a lot of good menu options, me and my husband ordered the VooDoo pasta, salad and shrimp cocktail. The pasta was extremely bland, it was definitely missing the Cajun flavor and whatever other seasoning. I subbed chicken and it was very overcooked. The waiter brought us more sauce but it didn’t help. I had maybe 4 bites and left the rest of my dish on the table. My husband felt the same but ate about half his dish because he was hungry and powered through it. The server apparently let the kitchen know the sauce was bland and told us to visit again and we’d have a better experience. What about making this experience better? Our tab was $88 for underwhelming food. There are better options in the area with better flavors and better bang for your buck. Quite frankly, dominos pasta for $6.99 has more flavor than the dish I had tonight—what a bummer.

We were visiting the area and looking for a place to eat. This place was highly recommended. We walked in and got a weird look from the host, while he asked us if we had a reservation. We said no and he seated us. The older waitress came out, and our 2 year old had started crying , and she made a comment that oh my God he was so loud and luckily there weren't other tables there. So we left! This is such a weird place. They act as if they've never seen children. I would not recommend going here. We left immediately and won't be back!

From out of town, came here based on your good reviews, but I'm not very impressed by these truffle fries. They got my order wrong the first time and instead of taking my fries back the waiter just mixed them in a big bowl and these were the end result. I'm paying $3 extra for these?

My mom and I came here after reading the reviews, and honestly, I'm not sure if the food selection in Glen Rose is just that bad, or what. Starting with service, based on the prices at the restaurant, you'd expect more than Waffle House quality service. Our server was incredibly slow, which didn't match her rushed attitude toward the table. She walked off in the middle of trying to order apps, which resulted in not correctly hearing one of the orders. She also took forever to get drinks out, and brought my mom half brewed iced tea. After being there for more than 30 minutes, we opted not to order entrees when finally asked. Food/drink wise, honestly disappointed. I ordered a Prickly Pear margarita from the cocktail menu and it just tasted like cheap prickly Pear syrup that dive bars use. After out salads came out, we had to send mine back because I ordered a caesar and got a wedge (I don't eat pork and hate blue cheese, so I would never opt for this salad). Our server had asked if we wanted to smoked gouda mac and cheese loaded and we said no, but it still came with bacon, which I don't eat. On top of that, the flavor of both was not great. I'm glad we opted out of apps, because of how bad the apps were. Do not recommend, and will choose other options going forward in this town.

This is my $11 order-for-pickup hamburger. Where is my lettuce, tomato, or onions?? Why is it cooked well done and hard as a rock when I asked for medium? Why does it taste like a salt lick because it's so overseasoned? I wish I would have checked the food before bringing it home. This was a really terrible burger. *Greens on side are a side salad, not toppings.

THEY GAVE MY ORDER TO THE WRONG DOOR DASHER AND THEN REFUSED TO REMAKE IT BECAUSE THEY WOULD “LOSE $60” WHAT ABOUT THE $60 I PAID AND YOU LET WALK OUT THE DAMN DOOR????? I SPOKE TO “KELLY”. After TWO HOURS I finally have got my food. Word of advice KELLY: I HIGHLY encourage you to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. it is NOT my fault that you didn’t do your job right, gave my food away to the wrong person, and now you are losing money because YOU messed up. The literal NERVE to tell me you won’t remake my food is INSANE Editing to add that my order was NOT refunded. You treat others like you would want to be treated? HILARIOUS. you would want a restaurant that gave away your order to not remake it??? Because that’s exactly what you tried to do to ME.
