We were recommended to this restaurant by family and it was delicious! The staff were very welcoming, and the food was fresh and truly outstanding! Highly recommend for a lovely evening with friends and family.
This place was delicious! The best appetizer was the elk potstickers, they are the bomb. They had a prime rib special which was very good. Great outdoor seating location as well which added to the ambiance. Watching the river and the mountains was part of the experience! Very lovely restaurant, you can tell the staff care.
The food is always great and the service is top notch. The view of the river adds to what is already a great experience.
This was such a wonderful place for dinner. The server was quick and super nice. Food was absolutely to die for and the drinks were top quality. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back
Service was great. The view was stunning. I can’t wait to go back.
Food sounded interesting but yummy! Recommend the Chefs choice and their already planned meals.
Pet Friendly! On the patio! Beautiful views, delicious food, just a few feet above the river- never gets old!
Good food, nice view of the river. I would recommend waiting a few min longer to get an outside table.
We went to this restaurant because the views are amazing over the river. Let me tell you they have the best fillet sauce!! Jeff was a amazing server and was always making sure we had everything to enjoy our meal. Thank you Jeff !!
Simply amazing. Just what I wanted for our special day (Keep reading for info about GF options). The food was great (and very reasonably priced for how fancy the restaurant seemed), the staff were friendly, and it was clean and quiet. We went here to celebrate our 8 year anniversary, and it was everything I wanted. It's a little upscale, but not stuffy (casual fine dining, I think someone called it online). My wife is Celiac, and she was able to order from most of the menu (seems to be one of the few places in Glenwood Springs with a GF friendly menu with lots of options). I will definitely be coming back anytime we're in Glenwood Springs. Oh and PS: they gave us a free dessert for our anniversary (thank you! It was all delicious!)
We had a wonderful dinner this evening, the elk and seared scallops were very delicous. Waitress was very busy, but made sure we had everything we needed. Finished the night with coffee, raspberry sorbet, and watched the fly fisherman catch fish in the river. Perfect place to have dinner and soak in all that Colorado has to offer.
The pretzel rolls, the prime rib, and the drinks are all the main reasons why I will be returning here for food every time I come to Glenwood Springs. The steak was the best that I've ever had for an amazing price. 10/10 I will be recommending this place to everyone I know
This was our second day visit this week. The first was for dinner and today for brunch. We enjoyed both meals. The setting right on the river is great. The service was attentive, menu has a nice variety and prices are very reasonable.
Great place and was recommended by a family member. The view is great on the back patio and the food was delicious! There wasn't a single thing we ate that I didn't like. I'll definitely be going back!
My friends and I were visiting Glenwood Springs for the first time. It was a long road trip from Cañon City and we were pretty tired and hungry. We decided to take a chance on Rivers, and we're glad we did. It's a little more upscale than we were expecting but it was really great. I got the Prime Rib; it was really fantastic. The ambiance was really wonderful, too--it would be a nice place to take a date. I'm sure the deck must be a wonderful place to dine in the Spring and the Summer. We really enjoyed our meals and the great service. The presentation of the food was really quite nice, too. All in all it was a very pleasant dining experience and for the quality and quantity of food as well as the atmosphere, the prices were very reasonable.
This place is amazing!! The service was wonderful. They make you feel right at home with their generosity and friendliness. They were very knowledgeable when it came to the menu and answered every question we had. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family for sure! The view is just absolutely breathtaking!!
This place is so clean and the food is AMAZING. Get the steak or prime rib it is to die for. We will be returning time and time again because of the food and also the ridiculously kind staff. Our server was VERY attentive and every server made us feel welcomed. 10/10 recommended
The food is great ! Chef Mike really loves to cook seafood. I have never had a bad meal at the Rivers restaurant. And the view on the back deck is wonderful. Over the Roaring Fork river really sets the mood in the evenings , really nice. And don't for get live music every Friday night.
Wonderful experience at The Rivers Restaurant. I ordered the Prime Rib and my wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, the food was excellent. Server David was on top of things all evening. Dessert was the Chocolate Decadence cake which was excellent as well. Great Ambience, just wish it wasn't dark so we could have seen the River outside.
Awesome location! Right on the river. They were very accommodating for a 60th Birthday celebration for my wife’s mother. We had guests from 4 states and we all felt taken care. The food was amazing and the service was superb.
beautiful relaxing atmosphere great.deck on river. .inside is honey and bright. The food....? Wonderful.I had bacon wrapped Duck. Fresh vegetables perfectly aladente. Homemade garlic mashed. I've eaten there several times, always delicious !!
Very low key Sunday night and I was starved. My expectations were at a moderate level and I have to say that the food far exceeded them. Scallops with mango sauce special and wasabi mashed potatoes on the side was tremendous. The baked brie appetizer was also a nice start and the aioli butter and bread were great. Given that I live walking distance from Rivers, I have vowed to go more often after tonight's dinner. The weekly happy hour dinner specials have been great in the past and I will take more advantage of them going forward.
Excellent restaurant food was excellent. We came with six. We were seated immediately and we were all completely pleased with our food and service. Our waitress was Amy, one of the best servers I've had in a couple of years please go here. The atmosphere was outstanding. Very quit and private. Awesome experience
We stumbled upon this gem. It was nice to eat at a restaurant the locals enjoy, instead of all the touristy places downtown. The ambiance was perfect, as was Akeem, our waiter. The prime rib and salmon were cooked to perfection. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.
Wow!! If you are in Glenwood Springs and don't visit The Rivers you are missing out! We were there for thanksgiving dinner I had the Prime Rib and my partner had the traditional dinner and we were both very happy with our meals!! The servers there are top notch and the manager is great!
My husband and i had a lovely meal at the River's tonight. We both had the Early bird special. $19.99 each. Beautiful fresh salad, dinner rolls, yummy flavored whipped butter. I the Shrimp Scampi. My husband had the Pork Medallion dinner. Dave was or waiter. So friendly and his service was outstanding. Forget downtown eating district. The Rivers is where the locals and out of towners need to go for a wonderful experience. Thank you
I spent valentines night here, I did not have to wait long for a table, although they were extremely busy our food came put quickly and was the best chicken I have had in a long time! The pretzel bread was amazing! I was very impressed with the service and the ambiance of the whole restaurant, I would highly recommend!
Really nice place to eat, staff is amazing and service is pretty good too. Loved our food and will be back for sure. We went there late around 8pm so did not got to enjoy to outside but next will make sure to come early to enjoy the food with the river and mountain view.
Come for the views, stay for the steak! Friendly service, accepts reservations, and if you call ahead you’ll likely get a riverside seat. Overlooking the Colorado River, you’ll be soothed by rippling waters while you dine on some delectable eats. Would definitely recommend and hope to return
I'm am gluten free. I informed the waitress, who was kind but not knowledgeable. I ordered off of their decently sized gluten free menu, and received glutened food anyway. Fortunately, I caught it and sent it back. Unfortunately they just scraped the gluten bits off, replated, and sent me the food back. I discovered this AFTER I had eaten about a third. There were still gluten bits hidden under other bits of food. I am now home and not feeling very well. The reason for the high rating is the kindness of the waitress and manager. The manager was appalled and literally stood over the cook while he remade my meal. The food there IS delicious. Just be cautious if you have an allergy, as always.
I've never had a plate that blew my mind, but the food is good enough. The atmosphere inside is quite dated, but the pay off comes when you choose to sit outside, on the deck, above the Roaring Fork River. Beautiful views of the river, Mt. Sopris, and the surrounding mountains. With all the river front property in Glenwood Springs, it amazes me that this is the only Restaurant that has capitalized on it.
Staff extremely friendly, especially at the bar. Jake remembered my name and my drink on second visit. Cocktails don't cut corners on the alcohol. Food is widely varied and many dishes have an Asian touch that keeps things varied. Atmosphere is great and patio dining overlooking the river is outstanding.
Overall very nice experience for a first time visit. Sunday Brunch. Service was good and friendly wait staff. Portions were onlight side. Pricing was fair. Views from outside seating on deck was fabulous. Table, Umbrella and seating very comfortable. Saw a bald Eagle run the River. Beautiful!!!
Great food and a neat venue. Sitting on the deck over the river is fantastic if the weather is nice. The prices are definitely a little high, even for Glenwood, but nothing earth shattering. Also, no beer on tap.
Honey glazed snapper was the special and it was so good. Pretzel bread is wonderful. We had our wedding dinner here and they made us the best white wedding cake as well. The deck has a great view of the roraring fork river too!
Rivers is named well - it sits pleasantly on the bank of the Colorado River. The views of the mountains are wonderful. The food was good, but I wouldn't recommend the NY strip for $34. There was a line of gristle in mine that spanned the entire piece, and it came Medium when I ordered Medium Rare. One of the best menu deals is 1 oz of Lagavulin 16yr for only $13. Im used to paying $20+ for a glass of some fine scotch in NYC, so this was a steal. The service was decent. They were busy, and the servers all seemed overextended. They were working hard, it was quite good service for being that high up in the mountains! It's definitely worth a visit, but maybe don't get the most expensive items.
Food was good. Service was so-so. We had a really big family event. Some of the wait staff was great. Our waiter wasn't very friendly. Too bad because the restaurant was really lovely.
While the service was wonderful, I was left wishing the rest of the dining experience was just as good. The expensive food was disappointing; the chicken was soggy and tasted overwhelmingly of egg wash. The patio was nice but we were unable to be seated next to the river which was disappointing. Lastly, the chairs were very uncomfortable. Won't be returning.
Not recommended. Food mediocre at best. Not worth prices. Husband ordered Prime Rib-medium, food arrived. No pink, definitely not medium. Then the waitress argued whether Medium or not. Medium is hot pink center, not Gray. Greasy, Fatty & bland. Don't get Carrot Cake. Dry, obviously frozen. Shrimp Scampi was ok. Atmosphere was nice on River.
The drinks and fresh bread were great. The food was all sub par compared to the reviews. The decor was dated and needed cleaning. The waiters needing grooming. And while the service was acceptable it was clear that there was a lack of management addressing issues. I wish we had stayed home and cooked instead...
I come here four times a year to visit and always come to the Rivers. Tonight was disappointing. Our waiter was not very friendly, did not come back but once after our food was served. I had the prime rib that was great. My wife had a loin cut sirloin that was very fatty and she did not care for it much. It was very noisy from other customers and when the manager went by our table and ask how things were, I mentioned it was very load. She laughed and said yes it is. This is supposed to be a nice place to have a date or nice evening with your spouse. That was hard to do when we couldn't here each other over the noise. I think with the staff not caring about my visit I'll be finding another favorite place to eat while in glenwood.
So it looks nice outside and in but the service was the worst! The server had us sitting there for 30 min and only gave us drinks. The guy had a hard time telling us the specials! The drinks he brought were not good either and they were basic as a iced tea that was foggy and tasted bad! They were supposed to have wild game and the only thing that was is the pot stickers app! We were so unhappy we walked out!
Wait staff was slow and quite dishonest. I was told all the meats were local explicitly By the waiter and he sounded like a bad door to door salesman. When we decided to ask the manager he laughed and explained that the beef was from the “western part of the united states, maybe North Dakota” which makes the $22-34 price tag absolutely absurd. The Thai steamed vegetable platter was entirely bland and under cooked. Sauces were cheap out of the bottle junk. The other member of my party had the Trout which was unremarkable. The elk + wild mushroom potstickers were the highlight and still not great, greasy and slightly overcooked. Overall - mediocre at best quality food for ridiculous price tags. The view isn’t bad at least!
Im not the type of person to write a bad review just to write one. Not impressed with anything that we ate. Had the prime rib. It was very bland and tough. The horseradish sauce had little flavor and the au jus was just salty The mashed potatoes were just okay. Even the carrot cake was mediocre. This restaurant seemed like a place that just won't die. I was half expecting to hear Gordon Ramsey yell some expletives and walk out of the kitchen. Save your money and go elsewhere.
We recently had a bridal shower at Rivers. I would NEVER recommend having an event here! We were told it would cost us $300, but when we received our bill it doubled! The cost included 3 tables on the patio and a small brunch buffet of eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, and small muffins. Our drinks were not included, but paid for separately. Definitely not worth $600!!! We were even charged for them to cut OUR cake. The manager was rude and very unprofessional!
Waitress and hostess was excellent! Views incredible! Duck breast over cooked, and the vegetables were salty and not edible. My son ordered the fish, and it was cold when it came to the table. Disappointing Dinner!
We had a large group, over 50 people. The waitress was kind and polite. We were sat immediately because we had a reservation. However, the food was not up to par. I personally had the blacken Pork loin and it was very dry and tough. My daughter had the shrimp scampi and it looked nothing like shrimp scampi. For the price we paid the food was not at all good. I was not impressed at all. They took too long and messed up our check also.
After some debate my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate my birthday at rivers restaurant. Although the meal stared pleasantly, our server, Bret, forgot a about us shortly after our meal was served. For over 1/2 hour we watched him check in with other tables and bop in and out of the kitchen but never came back to check in, refill our waters or see if we wanted a drink or desert. Nothing. Finally I waived down another server for our bill. No manager came out. Bret offered a apology, but really it was a special meal ruined by really awful service. And not an inexpensive meal at that. Super disappointed, and I would never trust them to host another special event. Ever.
I tried so hard to like this place, but good lord. This is overpriced cafeteria food, at best. Creamy chicken soup is better from a can. The calamari was undercooked and rubbery, but it honestly might have still been alive. The deck and view are nice, but not worth the stomach ache.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. We went and got the early bird special. The chicken was decent but the Angus ground "sirloin" was worse than a fast food hamburger and you will pay $20 for this. We did notify management after, a mediocre at best dessert, but her response was "well you did order the early birl special". She did take one off the bill but we still had to pay for horrible food. There are so many other places that are better priced, have better food, and better service.
