Great beer, grub and fun place to hang.
Great new spot in Goleta. Love the laid-back vibe, and good beer.
Love this place! Great vibes, and good beer :)
Pretty good place to have a chat and a beer after an overwhelming day..!
Excellent beer and relaxing atmosphere!!
Enjoyed the blonde ale and the atmosphere! Will be back.
Awesome new brewery in Goleta with amazing IPA and great energy.
Nothing like chilling after a long day at work. Can't go wrong with the IPA
Great staff, great beer, and great environment. A+
Best atmosphere, friendly staff, great beer!
Plenty of outdoor seating and good beer. That's really all you need, right?
Excellent brewery. Went for lunch, came back for dinner.
Great beer. Great people. Greatland. Cheers!
Best beer in town, and great customer service
Great beers great folks love the wood bar
One of my favorite breweries in the area. Quality beer and super friendly staff.
Great beers and tons of outdoor seating. There is a great food truck nearby too.
Cool place to grab a drink. They usually have live music and a food truck too (check their website for details)
Great beer and good place to hang out with friends, live music on weekends
Best beer in town and a must visit every time I'm here.
Without question the very finest craft beer in the Santa Barbara area. Great people and better beer.
Good brewery. Fast service. Flights available with 4 beers.
Goletas best brewery 👌 really good vibes and 😎 cool spot to hang out and relax at any point
Very chill atmosphere. And not as crowded as downtown SB is.
Love this place! Go there all the time for great beer and events
You're unlikely to stumble on this place by mistake, which might explain why it's so cool - great beers also
Loved it. Nice people, great service. Very casual open bar.
Amazing venue and amazing people. All of the staff are awesome and you couldn't ask for more
Good beer and good vibe. Definitely worth checking out.
Good vibe. Good band. Good beer. Tarik behind the bar is awesome.
This place is great! Especially their M cheladas! Will definitely go back
The staff was kool, had good suggestions on beers and their beers are pretty good.
Pretty good beer with an awesome environment to hang out in.
Great beer, great atmosphere, wonderful staff. Tequila Mockingbird band should be the hose band! Fun music at a very cool venue.
Best beer place in town must visit.
Great beer, friendly prices, and the taco truck out front the night I was there was really good.
It's a rare occasion when any kind of public establishment opens, and they do everything right. M Special did exactly this! M special is a fun, friendly, exciting, and customer oriented taproom! I was never a beer drinker until I came to M Special. If they were only open longer...love this place!
M special is a good spot, the Brewer knows what he's doing and the beer is solid... keep in mind that you will have to order some food items, due to the Coronavirus... I've been going to M special since it opened and think it's a great place👍👍👍👍
Probably the best brewery In the sb area. Good beers that aren't all the boring, over-hopped, one dimensional ipa's that seem to be in fashion right now. The brown is nice as are the Belgian and the Russian stout.
I'm a regular here and enjoy the beer and the friendly staff. It ranges from quiet to chaotic depending on the day and time you visit. Personally, I like the variety of customers that this business draws, from business professionals to college kids.
I am traveling through on the coast and wanted to stop by a brewery and this place delivered exemplary service beyond anything I could ever expect. From beers to staff to venue to food trucks…this place is so so so amazing!!!!!
Cool new brewhaus in Goleta the Good Land. Heck, with Hollister Brew Co, M.Special, and Captain Fatty's; Goleta is on the way to developing a "brewery district." Take note! M Special has nice, clean, minimalist decor, a nice selection beers to appeal to most tastes; including session IPAs, Belgians, West Coast IPAs, etc.., The space features an awesome patio for hanging out & relaxing with a beer. Looks like they're bringing in food trucks to supply some needed calories, because the only thing better than drinking beer is enjoying said beer with good food. This operation looks well funded, and they will be scaling up big soon by the looks of things.
Chill place but popular. Can imagine indoor seating to fill quickly close to peak times. Food truck not there today… had to suffer with pizza 😉
I love M Special! You have to go the second Tuesday of every month and enjoy great food, awesome beer, and listen to talented musicians!
I love the beer, to bad everything they stand for is so woke politically.
Great beer, great atmosphere, good live music at the weekends, great staff. I love coming here.
Friendly atmosphere, staff curtious and efficient! Enjoyed music on Saturday night.
Great beer, great atmosphere, fantastic staff! Love it here.
Best brewery in SB/Goleta. New Japanese style rice beer is legit!
Beer is good. Good place to drink with the squad. As a casual beer enjoyer, I prefer lagers but the occasional IPA doesn't hurt either. Would recommend coming here with a group and enjoying the Santa Barbara weather.
No trip to Santa Barbara is complete without a visit to M Special! The beer is delicious, the vibes are chill and not pretentious. Lots of parking and seating make for a great atmosphere that is fun and laid back. And it’s dog friendly! Pro tip: leave with a growler!
Huge amounts of seating yet it still manages to be packed more often than not. The quality of their beers certainly plays a role in constantly luring hordes to their tables and the fact that you can actually get parking is a win. Maybe not the most convenient place to get to for SB proper folks but it's definitely one of the Goleta favorites. As far as beers go, there's probably no wrong choice. Just get a flight and enjoy as many as you can handle.
This is a legit brewery slightly off the beaten path. The warehouse setting gives it a no-frills vibe, which means it's all about the beer. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, but it fills up during peak times. There's no food that I could tell, but there's a truck nearby. This is a younger and college crowd, but feels totally welcoming to anyone.
Sweet spot, outdoor seating with plenty of room for a group of friends, business assocites, or that special someone in your life or just come alone like I did :D and grab a flight of the in house flavors. Friendly staff and warm vibes.
Solid spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Great beer, friendly staff. Stop in! I got the Pablo Special.
Great new addition to breweries in Goleta. Big inside bar and patio. Plenty of free parking. Disfruta food truck for Goltta.
Good place to sit down and have a beer. Atmosphere is fun. They have a taco truck outside for food.
Whether you're in Goleta or Downtown, the atmosphere and staff are always incredible.. Goleta is my favorite though 😍
This is my favorite brewery in town. Super laid back atmosphere, friendly staff and great beer (especially if you like IPA's)
Great local micro brew. Top notch beers as well as friendly staff. Ridiculously smooth DIPA. I'll be back for sure.
This is an M.Special place. 😁 Apologies for the Dad joke, but it's true. In the past few years, I’ve gotten to know most of the local brewers and many of their brews through work and pleasure. This town has a lot of good locally brewed beer, but I'm simply nuts about M.Special's Sabado Tarde. I lived in Isla Vista from high school through college, where this tangerine ale gets its name. It’s a street a block away from Del Playa, where I lived. I suspect it may be where some Millers and Malloys may have lived while attending UCSB. It may not be grammatically correct Spanish for “Saturday afternoon,” but it’s one of the smoothest-tasting lagers I’ve ever had. Josh, the brewer, has worked magic with a flavor that some refer to as a Blonde or Golden Ale. For me, that mostly refers to its color, not taste. [Gratuitous aside: While I’m generally upbeat, I’m not a hoppy person. I truly cannot drink IPAs. They have a very sour aftertaste my Irish palette can’t stand. Like or dislike of hops is a genetic marker. I must have a broken chromosome, as I’m definitely in the minority regarding the IPA rage these days. I felt it fair to duly confess that. I should also note that for the vast, hoppy-go-lucky majority who love a strong, hippity hoppity beer, M.Special makes a lot of good IPAs, and could probably advise commodity traders on grain futures.] Meanwhile, what’s irresistible about Sabado Tarde is that unlike Mexican lagers, which I also like (and M.Special does well), the aftertaste of this tangerine ale is not bitter. But it’s also not too sweet like some blondes (and brunettes) can be. As such, it’s really hard to stop drinking! One smooth sip after another––and suddenly––more than a few pints are sloshing happily around your belly. 🥴 When I was not at M.Special, or other locales where it was on tap, I found myself buying cans to keep in the fridge at home. But as my love affair grew into what one might call an obsession, I began buying kegs from the Goleta location. The kegerator in my garage has never been in better spirits. Okay, you get the drift. It’s good beer. M.Special makes a lot of good beer. Their well-deserved motto is “Good Beer, Every Time.” And plenty of IPA is on tap for those seeking that kind of hoppiness. But the thing that never ceases to surprise me is that every time I go in there to trade an empty keg for a fresh, full one, there’s always a cluster of customers wearing M.Special hats and clothing. It’s like going to an NFL game and sitting in the home section where almost no one is wearing anything other than team logo apparel. It’s impressive. Clearly, there’s a fan base. The location in Goleta is definitely a destination. They don’t get their business from foot traffic, like the State Street location. The first time you go there, it’ll feel like your GPS is on the fritz as you drive past warehouses, corporate headquarters, and machine shops. But when you get there, it’s a fantastic spacious space. I’ve been there on nights when they have live bands and dancing outside, and you’ll never feel claustrophobic. Inside, they have one of the longest, most extraordinarily beautiful, natural wooden countertop bars I’ve ever seen. According to the website, local wood carving specialist John Birchim created the longest bar in SB County made from a single piece of fallen Monterey Pine from Big Sur. But even more beautiful than all of that is the staff. I wish I could remember everyone’s name, but even when they’re overwhelmed, these lovely people keep their cool, they smile and make you feel that this is your place. This is your corner bar, your pub down the road. Whether it’s Kennedy, or Madison, or Nolan, or John, or Michael, or Tori, it’s your team. You feel like they care and like their jobs. Perhaps that’s why so many customers keep returning wearing their shirts and hats.

Now Open again with all the physical distancing. Awesome!!! Still very inviting and homely feel. You have to order food and have a maximum stay of 90min. Had their great beer and a delicious meal off a food truck. Can't wait to go back. Go there. You will enjoy!
Great atmosphere and great beer. Super laid back; super popular. The bartender greets you right away, asks you what you would like. Manager roams around and visits with everyone to ensure they are enjoying themselves and the drinks. Cozy seating outdoors and indoors, dog friendly, food trucks, and live music. What's not to like? Definitely check out this Goleta gem! :)
Great place to grab a beer. They have bands on Fridays and Saturdays. Trivia Monday nights. And for students, college nights on Thursday (bands most college nights) They also have NFL ticket on Sundays but only 4 TV's. A good size outside patio area that gets a good amount of sun during the day. They have umbrellas for most tables if you don't want to sit in the sun.
On-site catering trailer. Santa Barbara Food Connection. Best burgers and delicious tacos. M Special. Has a excellent selection of beers. On tap. Employees very friendly. Clean restrooms. I highly recommend it.
Not a super big fan of beer so didn’t have many choices. However, I have many friends who enjoy the drinks here. I tried the Michelada and it was NOT good. They do have a great Mexican food truck that we love! They have vegan options which is a plus! Monday trivia is really fun!
Great beers and outstanding staff. Of all Goletas breweries this one has the best vibe and excellent selection of brews. Pricing is better too. Highly recommend.

Good Beer. Ample parking. Driveway is hard to find. Way in the back.
Lots of beer options and great outdoor seating.
Great space outside on picknick tables and wonderful beer.
Great place to hang out and have great brew
Place is cool and beer is good. Nice atmosphere p
Great spot. Good beer. Every time.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the beer is okay; nothing really stand-out amazing. But they've got a cool atmosphere, are dog friendly, have TONS of parking, & the beertenders are friendly & really on top of making sure you don't go long without a beer in-hand.
Nice large area in the parking lots which has games for kids and adults to play. Like the arrangement and seating options. The beer ranges from good to just alright. Captain Fatty's and Hollister Brewing Co. are both nearby and better quality.
Goleta definitely needed a fun, lively spot like M. Special. With a friendly staff, plenty of TVs, a huge outdoor seating area (cornhole included, of course) and live music Friday and Saturday nights, how could you go wrong!? They also have a very good selection of beers. If you want, join the “lazy eye league”. You are offered a larger glass, exclusive parties for members only and discounts on all of their swag. You only pay once to join and it is definitely worth the price. Whether you’re looking for a night out with your friends or a fun place to bring your family, M. Special is just what the doctor ordered for those Goleta beer enthusiasts!
A decent selection of craft brews. One of the better options in Goleta. If you have a 2016 SB Axxess card they do bogo tasters and beers on the first round each visit. They're small batch and sometimes they'll run out of a number of taps at time. Not all are worth writing home about but there are a few honorable mentions. The unfiltered Abbey is my favorite. A Belgian style ale, lots of alcohol masked by the sweetness of the beer. They also do food trucks a couple of nights of the week. It's in a business park, which is pretty typical of breweries.
Good beer, although seem to be a really popular happy hour place, always packed right around end of day time. Dog friendly.
Good beer and a nice patio. It is usually a little crowded, but its worth it. There seems to be a food truck outside every time I go.
Great selection of beers. Good service. Relaxing atmosphere. Food at the food truck is good, but somewhat limited.
A nice spot! The beer was good and there was a nice atmosphere. Plenty of outdoor seating and a bar area, they also have cornhole and a food truck. I had the Radler, which was okay. I plan to have a full beer on the next go round.
Not my favorite beers. Small brewery, good atmosphere and friendly staff. My favorite beer was the Goodbar grapefruit IPA. It is Dog friendly and there is lots of parking.
Great place, a little crowded and noisy sometimes, but good beers and you may catch Jack Johnson randomly playing.
tbh I loved the food truck’s vegetarian nacho more than the beer flight 😂

Great atmosphere and great beers! The bar is nice and open with plenty of light and a good amount of seating. While they don't have their own kitchen there is usually a food truck of some sort outside to help you with that department. Otherwise getting food delivered is not a problem at all.

Good beer and atmosphere, but don't come here to watch sports. I don't know if this is the case with all of the bartenders but the bartender with the beard and the glasses was pretty rude when we asked to put the USA Copa America game on the other day. To quote, "I don't want to listen to that". OK... we'll go to Hollister Brew.
Server was cute and very pleasant. Service was good.. I apparently showed up during a time where fresh food wasnt available.. overall a great experience.
The beer is really good, suggest trying the belgian golden ale, which I thought was awesome The food was ok, I ordered shrimp tacos and got shrimp nachos instead so I guess they did not pay attention but it was close to their last call time so I will cut them some slack. The shrimp nachos were not bad either. The thing that ticked me off was that they have a policy that if you want tk order beer and dine in, you have to order food. It is never a good idea to force your customers to to buy something they dont want to and right now they can make it swing because covid19 means not a lot of done in options. If they had let me order just the beer, they would have got 5 stars because their beer was that good

Beer and selection was good but, the attitude by the staff was a disappointment. "Kids only" sizes on the beer is another reason to avoid.
They should change the closing time because I went by at 7:30 and they said they were closed on Sunday so I wasn’t sure what the real closing time is
Rude staff and the beer is just poo water lowkey. overall heinous vibes - only go if you have lost all self-respect
Average beer compared to other breweries in Goleta, very rude staff. Not recommended
Just saw one of their truck drivers toss a bag of trash and litter on the ground in Goleta. It was their truck and their driver. what a shame!
