Stopped here with my Bro-in-law for a pint and a Pizza. The pub is nice, following the refurbishment. Not sure if it is a 'drinkers' pub, as many of the tables in the bar were reserved and there were not that many bar stools. They do serve 2 of our favourite beers, which is a plus. Staff were super friendly and we ordered a couple of pizzas that we ate in the restaurant. They were honest, in that they only had one chef for a period and that the food would be a little delayed. In practice, a 2nd chef turned up and the pizza's came out pretty quickly. They were really tasty. The place looked like it was totally accessible for a wheelchair (my wife is in a wheelchair, and we struggle to find older pubs that are accessible). I might bring here here for a meal.
Big birthday meal yesterday at the Goudhurst Inn. Good choice of gluten free main meals. Being a Coeliac eating out can be very stressful but I felt at ease here. I had the fish and chips it was amazing. The menu for gluten free had a tick next to the ones you can eat. For dessert i had the grilled peach but they also offered me the rocky road one on the children's menu. The staff were very clued up and lovely. The owners son is gluten free so they know what they are doing. Really nice restaurant and service.Would definitely recommend!
What a fantastic stay at Goudhurst Inn! The rooms were wonderful and super spacious, the food was absolutely delicious and we can't say enough about the people who work there. They were so kind and attentive and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful time and were so accommodating and lovely to our toddler. Cannot recommend this place enough!
I recently enjoyed a wonderful two night stay at The Goudhurst Inn while attending a training course nearby. The service was exceptional right from the start. I arrived a little early and was warmly welcomed by the team, including Sienna, who kindly showed me to my room. Every member of staff I encountered was smiling, friendly, and incredibly helpful. When I inquired about a good spot for a morning walk, Sienna went the extra mile to share a great walking route suggestion. My room was excellent, with small touches that elevated the experience, and the standard of cleanliness was amazing. The bed was also wonderfully comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. I dined both evenings and mornings at the inn. The Sausage and Mash for dinner was awesome, and the Guinness was perfect. Breakfast was a delightful medley of options; I was genuinely spoilt for choice. Overall, this was a 5-star stay!
Wonderful suite which, for some reason is about to be updated: difficult to see what they could improve! The in-the-room bathroom was exceptional and the double ended bath itself was fabulous. The staff were all genial, helpful and committed. The breakfasts were larger than expected and beautifully cooked to order: fried eggs with runny yolks, poached eggs with jammy yolks etc. We saw others around us eating and coing over what looked like first class pizzas though we had eaten and didn't sample them.
Had a lovely family lunch here. Roast chicken was spot on, chicken pie hearty and delicious, and the pan-fried trout really fresh. The real surprise was the excellent English white wine from Balfour – crisp and perfect with the food.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay room is amazing and clean very smart and cozy the staff go above and beyond to help, I had my evening meal here and had a sirloin steak chips and at special request peppercorn sauce it was divine, one of the best steaks I've had and I've been to a lot of steak places such as miller and carter etc.
I’m not a guest, and haven’t used any of the facilities there however on Friday just gone, we broke down outside the pub (and had to park in their car park across a few spaces), at around 9:30 in the morning. I went inside and was welcomed by 2 lovely ladies who were more than helpful. Offered teas and coffees, a sit down out of the rain… when our recovery showed up, we didn’t manage to say thank you for everything, we were just really stressed as we were meant to be up North for the weekend. We will visit again as we’re so happy with the service they show. Really amazing people.
Popped in today after a recommendation from the petrol station up the road. I had fallen off my motorbike 15 minutes prior and was a bit shaken with cut legs. Sat for a coffee and the lovely team here grabbed the first aid kit and helped sort me out. Lovely vibe in this place, food was coming out looked great. Will be returning with my family! Thanks for looking after me!
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch for two. Relaxed and relaxing service and generous portions.
Excellent coffee, average price. Attentive, polite staff, comfortable seating for conversation. Male toilets, spotless and without "odour".
We had a lovely stay with staff being very helpful and accomodating both about giving us an early check in and delaying our table at lunch. Room was large and airy and everything had been styled well and carefully chosen. Maybe a little more drawer space if you were here for a longer stay Large , roomy bathroom. Only down side on a very hot night was being on quite a noisy road but in the end we slept well.
Went here to see the young farmers tractors lights show but had a roast dinner, next time flood the plate with gravy (wife's comment not mine) going back again 😀
Just turned off the main road and found this superb inn. Great building, sensitively modernised and good outdoor seating. The sourdough pizzas were great but the real gem is the staff - polite, friendly, efficient and great with children of all ages.
Lovely meal here with a friend. Just had burger and chips and a beer. Nicely cooked. Could do with some salad or coleslaw added. Toilets were clean. Staff member was very pleasant 😊 would come again for sure.
Four of us had fish and chips for a midweek lunch and it was lovely!
Loveley village location, great decor and well maintained. We were a party of 12, service was great and food to match. The team are organised and great at what they do.
Had a lovely afternoon at the Goudhurst Inn with my husband and daughter yesterday on her 21st birthday. Fantastic service from the bar staff and manager who made my daughter feel special. Will definitely be returning soon
Only had diner here. Very welcoming and helpful staff and great food. Well not just great, some of the best I've had in a pub. Oh and very dog-friendly. Will go back to try their pizza's and some other dessert! Edit: Went back for the pizza. 5 stars definitely still stand!
Beautiful place to stay. Peaceful, friendly and well maintained. Although there are only a handful of rooms they are of an extremely high standard. I had large bath and a shower in my room so was spoilt for choice. The menu was classy and seemed to have something for everyone and the complimentary breakfast really got your day off to a good start if you sat on the patio to eat it. Will definitely stay there again next time I'm working in the area.
Lovely sunday roast with loads of sides! When you’re here, the frangipane tarte is divine!
Lovely pub on the outskirts of a charming little Kent village. It's got a big terrace / garden for summer and lots of space for dining. The food isn't cheap but it's good quality and better than most pubs. Their pizzas are excellent and great value. There are a few rooms you can stay in and I've stayed in two of them and they're very comfortable for a night or two. Lovely staff especially Adriana.
Very comfortable room and great hospitality from the staff. The pub was very quiet as it was early in the new year but the service was still attentive and the food excellent. Will return
Food was absolutely amazing, the quid starter was excellent. The room we were seated in could have been a little brighter, some of the older folk with us had a bit of trouble reading the Menus as it was a little too dark
Grace and Michelle were exceptional hosts and molly in the kitchen cooked us an outstanding breakfast Thank you so much
By far the best meal I've had for a while. I had the double cheese burger, as it was placed on the table before me I could smell the quality of the meat and how well it had been cooked. Proper beef, well prepared. The staff were brilliant and exceptionally tolerant of our unruly two year old. The pub was three miles off our route but the diversion was worth every yard. Just to note there is a great, clean and well kept play area that is reasonably sized.
So pleased the restaurant was able to accommodate our large party of 14 at almost no notice. Staff were lovely and very patient! Burger was yummy and great fries. Scotch egg looked amazing too - food envy! Looking forward to a return visit already!
Warm welcome and very friendly and efficient staff. Beautiful room with lots of touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A bit of traffic noise in the evening but quiet at night. Good food.
The service was very good. Warm and friendly. The food was good, once, but I think we were probably late in the lunchtime sitting, and the roast had past its prime, overdone a dry, but still edible. The flavours were all there, but just a little disappointing. Also, the plates were cold, which is a particular gripe of mine personally. I would definitely return if I lived in the area.
Came with some friends for the quiz night . Gabby did a great job putting it together and the gent Barry doing the quiz was fab too . Enjoyable evening :)
Good food and nice vegan options. Service was very busy when we arrived due to a town event but we were served in reasonable time. Unfortunately there was no baby change in the men's toilets which made looking after my child very difficult.
This is a dog friendly pub. Friendly staff a menu with variety food came out hot, tasty and portion was adequate sticky toffee a must with their rum sauce would love to come back and try roast dinner here. The steak burger was well cooked and garnished well, chips hot and fluffy with a pinch of salt, just what you need in a burger. Worth the drive
We’ve visited the Goudhurst Inn several times before it became the Winemakers Pub and had always enjoyed it, so we were a bit disappointed on this visit. The wait for food was exceptionally long, and unfortunately the quality didn’t make up for it. The roast dinner in particular has really gone downhill compared to our previous experiences.
We stayed here as we did wine tasting at Balfour. Nice pub, evening food was good, but the room is on the main road, really noisy and very hot (fan was provided but we had to close the window as it was so noisy so it was still boiling). Breakfast service was also really slow and they had sold out of items, even though it was midweek and early. It was fine, but we wouldn't return for the price we paid.
It's not the Goudhurst Inn that's the issue, it's eating out in the UK post Brexit and COVID. £22 for a roast in a cold bar. Miserable small vegetable portions, reheated roast potatoes and just about enough beef. Service was good. 3 adults ate lunch for over £80. No alcohol. Overheads mean that margins are cut to the core in 2025 and eating out is a massive lottery.
Not great. Pie all watery and soggy at bottom. Garlic and herb prawns almost cold and the focaccia was stale. I am pretty sure I was given salmon in place of my rainbow trout too. Never seen trout look like that. On reflection should have complained at the time, but it was busy and were sitting outside.
Room was nice, clean and comfortable. Service good. Food was mediocre at best, not what we expected considering it is listed as a gastro pub.
Had a christmas get together with my family .We had the set menu at £40 pp not good value .Soup was nice to start with but bread was hard .Prawn cocktail was dry with no sauce .Not much choice with the veg and parsnips were burnt and hard you couldn't cut into them or put a fork in them .Service was extremly slow and so was the table clearence they were not that busy so couldn't understand why it took so long .Desserts were not great either don't think any of us finished them as not nice. Overpriced for what it was .Will not be returning .
My pie was excellent and steaming hot , served with perfect mash. However, my wife's pizza was cold. Felt the pizza base may have been prepared much earlier in the day and not freshly made.
Stopped off after a long drive. My wife and I were hungry and also thirsty. The young lass behind the bar seemed nice enough , took my payment for drinks but forgot to pour out my wife's and had to go back and ask for it again. We decided on fish and chips as it was fish n chips day at the pub. Food was really nice and service was ok. We sat in the restaurant area to eat as we were hot and wanted to be in the shade, unfortunately were plagued by flies. Very difficult pub as well to get out of from the car park. Apart from my gripes it was ok.
Waiting staff struggled with a new menu, which wasn't to my liking, although others were happy. Surprisingly few customers, so maybe a re- think of the menu again, as other local similar pub- restaurants are packed on a Friday night.
Extremely average food. Burgers clearly frozen and overpriced considering. Entire party remarked on mediocre food. Sorry to say. Family friendly garden and fairly accommodating staff.
Had two meals here, two different levels of service. Thursdays meal of pizza was very good. The pizzas and desert was every good , the staff were friendly and the service was good. The Friday meal was adequate, the bread was served warm along with the butter which had melted, the trencher and the oil and basamic was also warm. My lamb dish was slightly over cooked. Staff were friendly but had to keep apologising for the delay. Had to wait more than 40 minutes for our main course, gave up waiting for desert, cancelled it and left after being there 2 hours.
We were really disappointed with our visit to The Goudhurst Inn. The service was extremely slow, and several of our orders were wrong when they finally arrived. Our drinks took ages to come out and a couple were even forgotten completely. After finishing our mains, we were given dessert menus, but no one came back to take our order we ended up waiting around 40 minutes before giving up, as the kids were getting restless. When it came time to pay, no one came over to the table, so I had to go up to the counter myself. The staff had already entered a price into the card machine without showing us a bill first, which didn’t feel very professional. From start to finish, the experience was poor slow, disorganised, and inattentive service. It basically ruined the vibe of catching up with our friends, which was really disappointing as we were looking forward to it.
Quite disappointing food on a Sunday- was looking forward for a pizza, but after ordering it( as advertised on a Sunday menu!) was told they don't do pizzas on Sundays (?!) Opted for steak and chuck burgers- worst burgers ever- overcooked, dry, hard and tasteless! The quality of the food doesn't match the price at all!! Not once we were asked if we are happy with the meal. Felt ripped off!Not recommended 😕
Food came out over 1 hour late, and it was cold. Waitress forgot the drinks order, and we didn't even get an apology. They still put the service charge on the bill, and we had to ask to take it off, which they did.
I don't normally write review but this is getting ridiculous, Can something be done about the lads loitering outside the pub? Every evening they’re out there smoking like chimneys and larking about with passing cars. They’re bound to cause an accident if they keep mucking about. Ive noticed for the past couple of weeks as I'm driving past on my way home from work, it’s really not a good look for the pub and it’s inappropriate! Would love to take the family for dinner there one night but seeing this puts me off!
Disappointing Mothersday meal. Try not to be seated in the room on the left as you enter. Really load party of 11 drowned the server and even the table ability to speak. Food took nearly an hour to come ( could be excused by the day) and was completely cold. The manager did apologise, however when our warm food arrived we asked for some additional gravy and managed to finish our meal, sit and wait, discuss would we chance a dessert, eventually just decide to pay and go, still no gravy! Just Disappointing, sad as we will probably never return now.
I came with a friend a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely lunch, we had the sandwiches, on chunky bread, which were so delicious and lovely chips with paprika. It was so good that I decided to visit again on my birthday today, with my daughter, grandchildren and husband, for my birthday lunch. So we arrived at 12.00 midday. Ordering was slow, we asked for the children's food to come quickly, pizza (no adults pizzas being cooked today, why not!), and I had to ask for the sandwich menu as it was not presented. I ordered the Mediterranean sandwich which I had last time, and the others ordered burgers. We had to wait 30 minutes for pizza and an hour for the macaroni and longer for our food. The sandwich was awful, not many vegetables and it was in a burger bun, quite burnt, the chips were not hot and no paprika, we were nor impressed at all. I am a local, I live very close by, and raved about my previous meal to so many people, but will not be this time, a very disappointing birthday lunch!
Food - not nice and overpriced. Takes ages for the food to arrive to the table. Very small portions. Problems with flies. Lot of great places down the road so better avoid this one. On the positive side the manager is nice.
Booked a table for 6 three weeks in advance. Booking 7:45 until 10pm. Bar staff were rude and slow to serve. No table was reserved. Dining room not available. Table service slow. Quality of meals variable. Asked if we wanted coffee five minutes into the main meal as staff want to turn the machine off. Asked/instructed to leave at 9:50 as pub was shutting. Pub opening hours on website are to 11pm. Absolutely awful experience which ruined a ‘reunion’ evening with friends. Would not recommend under any circumstances.
