Mature atmosphere perfect for a couples night out but also kids friendly. The food is super fresh and the waiters/waitresses are super attentive. Ask for the Monkey Bread for dessert, will not be disappointed.
It's great that this spot stays open on Monday nights! The crispy rice tuna is a standout, and the duck tacos are also excellent. The bartender is super friendly, and they serve delicious mixed drinks and a great selection of wine.
We made a reservation for our anniversary. The service was warm and attentive for the entire experience. Great selection for dinner and drinks. The lobster shooters were incredible as well as everything else. We both finished saying it may have been the best meal we’ve ever had. Great spot, we will definitely be back!
I don't usually leave reviews, but the food was so amazing that I have to share. We ordered pecking duck tacos that were excellent, omelette and fish and chips also very good. The dessert was the 3 chocolate mousse (see photo), to die for! Not too sweet, very delicate, perfect to share. I wish this restaurant was in NYC. We'll have to come back.
Great local joint, a bit hidden in the back of an office / retail complex Cozy with great service, delicious food The Duck tacos are a favorite and totally worth it!
Great new restaurant in Greenwich, Connecticut. We ordered the Canoe Mixed green salad, the Canoe Burger, the Goat Cheese Wonton and the Grilled Octopus. Everything was suuuper good. The Octopus was my personal highlight! It came with brussels sprouts and potatos in a delicious sauce. 10/10 would recommend!
Went 2 days after they opened and I have to say what a meal. The owner came over and had a chat with me and my friend. Very personable and enjoyable to chat with her. The food was delicious and would highly recommend. Will definitely be back!!!
Enjoyed my dinner The special cod dish was delicious The service was very pleasant
Best place I’ve eaten in awhile. Incredible 6 course meal that hit the spot every time.
Really pleasantly surprised! Incredible service (thanks Roberto), delicious salmon special and really yummy monkey bread. Very chill vibe with nice decor. I'll be back!
Really pleasant casual dining in Greenwich. Duck taco was great, as was the homemade ice cream. Selvin, our waiter, made the evening. So accommodating and conscientious. Defined great service.
We’ve recently picked up here a couple of times. Online ordering was a breeze and the risotto was delicious both times while the tacos (salmon and spicy fish) have been super tasty, as well.
We celebrated with my mom for her 84th birthday. We had a wonderful late lunch, and a great time. Salads were fresh, great selection, with portions being just right. We ordered seafood risotto, prepared so well, flavorful and good amount of seafood without being overwhelming. We ordered the duck tacos, meat was juicy, not dry and ingredients very fresh. The best was the Chilean sea bass, with a black bean sauce that was out of this world. The atmosphere was quiet and welcoming. Service was wonderful. Thank you to Jose! And the entire staff. Definitely call for reservations. If you like quiet, or more robust crowd, they will let you know what to expect. We highly recommend.
Good food, excellent service a little loud sometimes…..
I really was confused by the menu - half Asian/half Italian (what’s the story? Feel like they should tell you) but you know what, I’ve eaten there twice and both times extremely delicious - both types of cuisines and the drinks. Service warm and helpful. Will definitely be back.
I had brunch at Canoa with two friends today and we had a wonderful experience! Food was amazing (especially the pecking duck tacos and the 3 chocolates mousse!) and the waiter was super nice! Thank you, we’ll come back soon!:)
I ordered delivery. I rarely find crab cakes with much crab in them. Canoe’s are stuffed. Their lobster roll is fresh and stuffed. The extra butter was awesome. The salad was fresh. The crab cakes were part of the specialty salad. Overall we were very happy with our order. We made the right choice!
Had dinner at Canoe yesterday evening, and I cannot speak more highly of the staff, drinks, and food. We were greeted by Ken (or Kane?), the owner's husband, and he was incredibly kind and inviting. The drinks were very well-poured and worth the money, which is a FAR CRY from many other establishments that clearly short their pours in order to save money. I would come back here JUST for the integrity of the drink pours. The food was absolutely on point. The mixed greens we had was sprinkled with the most BEAUTIFUL ginger truffle dressing, and it was out of this world for what would otherwise still be a quite lovely (but normal) salad. It elevated it in ways that are hard to describe. I had the burger, which was perfectly cooked, and I ordered it without the bacon so it was a little plain but the meat was so perfectly cooked that I do not care in the least. We will be back, absolutely without question.
I rarely write restaurant reviews but given how good our food was at Canoe, I was motivated. All our appetizers were excellent including the fish and duck tacos, the goat cheese wontons (which came out piping hot), and the rock shrimp tempura. For entrees, the crispy duck was a huge winner, how they get the skin that crispy is magical, and my salmon was cooked to perfection. I'm not sure why people complain about the dessert menu, as there were plenty of choices and the two we got were very good. I must add that it was a bit cold in the tent outside, so a couple of additional heaters would make sense and our first round of drinks did take a big longer than we wanted. However, $10 for a good glass of chardonnay is a rarity in Greenwich and overall the prices are very fair, especially given current food inflation. We'll definitely go back again soon and suggest others do the same.
Love, love, love this place!! Very creative menu and delicious food in a cozy setting.
One of my favorite restaurants in Greenwich! The food never disappoints. I love the duck tacos and the chop salad is the best I’ve ever had!
Delicious creative food choices… The duck tacos and the duck entree along with a pasta dish with seafood especially. Natasha the server was great!!!
We went to Canoe last night and were thoroughly delighted. The cocktails were mixed expertly and all three entrees our party ordered were delicious and presented beautifully. The owner or manager (not sure which) was very friendly and engaging. I also like the updates to the interior. They also offer half portions, which I plan to take advantage of next time. All three of us who dined there last night highly recommend this new entry.
We had a wonderful time coming by with some family friends for my father’s birthday. The drinks were tasty and they have an awesome wine list, the food was delicious and cooked perfectly (we have chefs in the bunch and they were huge fans) and Rose, our server, was such a pleasure and so accommodating. I would come back here in a heart beat (if only I lived closer by!). Thank you all for making my dad’s night so memorable.
Must have the squid ink seafood pasta. The absolute best. Also had tuna crispy rice and lobster shooters for apps and carrot cake for dessert. All delicious and service was great.
Superb meal, friendly and attentive service, and chill vibe. I particularly enjoyed the salmon summer rolls and seafood risotto. Family raves about ahi tuna tacos, rock shrimp tempura and crispy duck. The deserts are to die for - especially the ricotta pistachio cheesecake.
Best fish I had in town, cooked to perfection! Outdoor seating was perfect! Tables not too close to each other, not noisy! Amazing service and delicious wine too! We will be back, a hidden gem in greenwich, highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent food and very attentive staff. I and my husband enjoyed hanging out at the bar, both to hv a drink and dinner. It's a comfortable setting, casual yet high quality. Love the bar tender and his creative drinks. Impress us every time!
I have been here on multiple occasions and every time I have enjoyed a pleasant experience. Usually, I drink water with each meal but I've drank the coconut mojito and the sangria, both were delicious. The coconut mojito had a delicious mint flavor and people who don't enjoy coconut would enjoy this drink despite its name; the coconut made the drink creamy but didn't overpower the taste. The sangria was light and refreshing, a good fruity drink. Every time I go I try out new appetizers and each of them has been amazing. The oysters were fresh and clean. The tuna sandwich was an interesting and creative concept that was delicious. The fried calamari was always crispy and not overcooked. Grilled octopus had a nice char on them and the Brussel sprouts were good. Personally, the Brussel sprouts were my favorite. They always cook them well and the balsamic glaze makes any picky eater want to continue eating. The canoe burger was a classic and good for people who like meat rather than seafood. Some other classic foods that you can't go wrong with is pasta; the fettuccini is delicious and if you want to venture out, the squid ink pasta is just as good. The skirt steak is always tender and they know how to cook medium rare well. The chimichurri sauce was delicious and added so much flavor to the meat. My personal favorite was the seafood risotto. Once it came out, I was already salivating. The first time I tried it I was too impatient and ate it when it came hot from the kitchen. There was so much seafood and the risotto was creamy. Personally, I am not a big fan of risotto but the way they cooked it was delicious. If you aren't full after all the food, the desserts are good to try too. The Napolean was good and light. The crème brûlée was delicious, a good option if you want a heavier dessert that is more creamy. The monkey bread was also good, a more carb-loaded desert. My personal favorite was the pistachio and ricotta cheesecake. The cheesecake was creamy and rich. The pistachio added a nutty flavor to the desert, which helped cut out the richness of the cheesecake. Overall, the atmosphere is warm and the interior and staff definitely help with that. You can tell how dedicated both owners are and how polite they are with their customers. Around me, I see regulars of varying ages that come back for the food. Furthermore, even though I haven't tried the full menu yet, I believe that all the dishes can serve to any person, either picky or with an advanced palette. Also, it is fun to try out each item every time I go since I have had a pleasant experience with the food every time.
A superb meal, fabulous service, great atmosphere
We had a wonderful dinner. Not your commonplace restaurant. Heavy on seafood. I had the squid ink pasta with seafood and truffles. Pleasantly surprised that the truffle flavor was not overpowering.
Placed pickup order online through their website. Staff was friendly, order was ready in 15 minutes! Ordered a shrimp po' boy with fries... bread was very fresh, shrimp was crispy and tasty, great comfort food meal, will visit again soon when I'm in Greenwich.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, good service
Wish they still made em like LUIS !!!! Salt of the earth. This goat has hospitality they can’t teach. Was looking all over Greenwich for a late night lobster roll and Luis delivered. This outstanding human being served us up the A5 Wagyu, The goat cheese wontons, spinach salad with walnuts and berries. This place is off the chain and the only place I’m gonna go to from now on when I’m in Greenwich for a Blazing lobster roll and tasty dishes. Thank you again BOSS n see you real soon ! CHEERS !!!!!!! Gme2 infinity and beyond.
Great staff, excellent food. Truely worth a trip to if you are in the area. Advise making reservations.
One of my father's favorite restaurants in Greenwich..and so went there last week with some of my family. Was a really nice menu...food was super..and service was equally as impressive. No wonder my father likes this place...so do I
Lovely little restaurant in Greenwich with some very unique and interesting dishes. Menu is heavily seafood, prepared in a modern style. Staff are extremely friendly, and both the drinks and food were top-notch. I enjoyed the duck with carrot ginger puree, the wagyu sushi was delicious, and the arugula and pear salad was excellent. Canoe is a bit pricey, but delivers uncompromising quality and experience. It is worth saving up and visiting for a special event.
Warm and inviting. Great staff and pace of meal was perfect. Crispy duck was delicious! Burger looked good (hubby had). Lobster shooters were interesting and tasty. Monkey bread for dessert was divine. Bourbon street Cocktail was perfect and wine had a heavy pour. All around wonderful last minute evening out.
We came here for brunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon as a party of 4. We had a reservation because we heard they get pretty busy but it was pretty empty inside. They have both inside and outside dining but we of course chose to sit inside. Including us there were 3 groups there while we were ordering and the service was SO slow. It took over 30 minutes for our food to come out which was super frustrating given that the other 2 groups were already served. We ordered the goat cheese wontons (delicious), crispy chicken wrap (not very crispy but overall it was fine) and a side of truffle fries (really good!), Peking duck tacos (so good and crispy) with a side of Mac n cheese (pretty good), salmon tacos (I heard good things), and kitchen sink omelette (looked burnt to me but I also heard good things). The salmon tacos were supposed to come with a side of fries or salad and didn’t come out with one. So we asked and the guy was a little frustrating about it. Overall the place was nice, the food was good, but I wouldn’t go hungry because you’ll wait forever.
Fun and a little chic Greenwich dinner locale. The lobster shooters appetizer was Michelin star worthy! Scallop entree was masterfully prepared. 4 stars as the place is noisy and dessert menu does not compete. We had a flavorless Napoleon… FLAVORLESS! Suggest a redo on dessert planning…
The way I see it, negative reviews are somewhat whiners. I found service to be quite pleasant and attentive, and the food to be very good. I had and actually liked the Brussel sprouts !! Say no more!
Great food. We had the lobster shooters, duck tacos and seafood risotto. They were all excellent, well balances and fresh. We came for an early dinner. Service was great. Would definitely come back if in the area again for an extended amount of time.
My fish was excellent , moist and the sauce was perfect. What was called spring roll looked more like eight little sushi rolls on the plate, but was reasonably tasty. Some other things were fine but not outstanding. The staff was very, very friendly but it took longer than it should have to get the check, and again for them to pick up the credit card. If I could I would have rated it 4.5.
The service was good and the meal was paced well, but the food was a bit disappointing, especially for the price point. The salmon summer roll was fine, but the rice paper wrap was gummy and chewy. The yellow fin tuna steak was well cooked but absolutely cold by the time it got to the table, and the steamed vegetables it came with were bland and limp. The carrot cake was dense and too sweet. The coconut sorbet was nice though, and points for ambiance.
Maybe it was an off night, but our meal was mostly bad. The salad was good, but the fries that came with our meals were a complete joke. The lobster roll was not worth the price and the chicken burger was pretty mediocre. Good service, though, and nice enough atmosphere.
Mediocre at best - disappointed by both the service of the restaurant and the lack of attention from our server and his lack of knowledge of the menu. At the prices they were charging, this is a bad deal all around. Lots of great restaurants in the area but this was not one of them.
The owner came over after we spent $600 and told us he needed our table.. never again
Staff is rude and abrasive, particularly the male owner and the woman who claimed to be the “manager” of the restaurant. The owner in particular had no knowledge of what is actually gluten free on their menu. The staff hovers around tables, rush you when ordering, and stare uncomfortably throughout your meal. After being at the restaurant for 45 minutes, we were told that we had to leave because they had another reservation. This restaurant is not an enjoyable environment.
I have no idea why other reviews are strong. My experience was negative for 2 main reasons: 1. Poor value ($75 for 4 simple salads, of basically just field greens) 2. Poor service - I walked in and the owner?/host just stared at me, didn’t say anything. I had to ask “do you work here” (we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday afternoon). The food proceeded to take longer than expected to be ready and the restaurant associate did/said nothing and went back to eating his dish. I would not be back.
A horrible taste. We previously used to order from the Beach house Cafe but now that it is closed we ordered from here and the change is for the worse. We had ordered their spicy fish taco and it was so flavorless, bitter and flat to taste unlike the one we had from Beach house cafe. The Napoleon was a disaster, the cream nothing like before, the pastry chewy without its fluffy lamination and the cream was clayey like a paste, Im not sure if they have the same chef as they used to have and its a shame really, the Beach House cafe was such a lovely place to eat from and now the food is just flavorless and the quality was not at all up to the mark. We threw away the food after a few bites. Not returning. Miss the beach house cafe.
