Wissota Chophouse - Hartford

Just had a fantastic room service experience! After a long day we wanted comfort food and a variety of textures and flavors The French onion soup and lobster bisque were both lovely. The Caesar salad was well dressed and bright with real anchovies. The truffle mac Mac and cheese and cheese tortellini were comforting and tasted wonderful. The ordering service as well as the two people who brought up the meal and set it up for us were kind, patient with our questions about the menu and so friendly. We will certainly order again!

The most scrumptious and large oysters! Raw and yummy Rockefeller. Great margarita! And about that Nueskes bacon! Delicious ceasar salad. I love floating bobber beer with the addition of blueberries! A local treat. Fun atmosphere!

Food was very good. Steak melts in your mouth. Sides for two are VERY generous. Service was friendly and accurate with good follow up. The manager, Tina was wonderful. She obviously enjoys her job and goes above and beyond!

Excellent food beautifully presented. Good craft beer to go with the steak, or in my case scallops, which were very good. Ashley was a great waitress!

You MUST eat here. Food is delicious. Risotto, French onion soup, roasted Brussel sprouts, cocktails..... ANS... the service is too notch. What a great restaurant in a great town.

We had a great dinner experience!! Got there an hour early to enjoy happy hour!! Got a seat at bar no issues and bartender was great!! Friendly and making sure we always had drinks!! Got a our table on time and again server was amazing with checking on us and very friendly!! Salad and soup on point the app was running a little late but manager came over and apologized that they burnt first and made us a new one and that was very professional and we had no issues with that we where having a nice time!! App was very good and then dinner was delicious!! Steaks cooked perfect with just the right amount of seasoning, or side of parm Brussels where a great match to the steak!! We loved the experience and dinner we had here and will be going back!! Thanks for the great dinner and memories!!

Service was impeccable! Ashley is the best server, from her radiant smile to her menu knowledge...simply amazing! Highly recommend!

I was completely impressed with Ashlee’s professionalism and customer service. The atmosphere here is always inviting and comfortable. This needs to be my go-to place for my celebrations - Ashlee was so busy and never skipped a beat, she made us feel like we were her only table… Don’t let me forget the fabulous food!

Visited with my wife to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. The service was fantastic! We had the Caprese Salad, Duroc Pork Chops, and the Parmesan Crusted Brussels Sprout. All were fresh and delicious. Perfect portions as well. It being our anniversary we we offered our choice of complimentary dessert. We chose to share the Carrot Cake. A HUGE slice of cake and again delicious. Highly recommended!

My husband and I recently moved to Hartford. We took a few days off to tour the town and try out our new restaurant scene. I have to say that beyond the melt in your mouth scallops, the perfect mushroom risotto (I couldn't stop eating this dish), the tender, flavorful calamari, tasty goat cheese and fig plate and even the wedge salad was something special (they make their own blue cheese... it's that good!) - but the staff - now they are review worthy... absolutely EXCEPTIONAL. Yes, from the moment we entered their timing was spot on... every finer dining detail was done with impeccable precision and friendly tone... but then in walked a special guest. This young lady was staying at the hotel. She walked in with her towel wrapped around her, backpack filled and carrying her purse . She had her instructions and checked them with the wait staff. She said, "I'm supposed to eat, then swim and then go to my room, right?" And the staff said, "Absolutely!" with smiles! They seated her, handed her a menu and then she announced to all of us with the happiest expression that this a fancy restaurant! She sat up a little straighter after realizing that. She ordered a soda, lobster bisque and a Cesar salad. The staff... every single one of them treated her with the utmost respect. They were gracious and patient and above all... they were kind. So I highly encourage you come for the delicious food, but even more, I encourage you to come for the people.

Great food, amazing deserts. We ate there 2 nights in a row while in town. Be prepared though, it is not cheap, but the food is well worth it.

Fantastic service! French onion soup and lobster bisque are a must have. The Mac and cheese is so good! Steak and shrimp were amazing. Seasoned perfectly. Cannot wait to go back again. Definitely was worth the trip.

I went there looking for a good steak with my father. I was not disappointed. The steak was cooked to perfection just as I requested it. A melt in your mouth delicious porterhouse. We ordered the stuffed portobello mushrooms for an appetizer and they almost stole the whole show. Asparagus as a side was an excellent choice to complement the steaks. I drank a few old fashioneds with my meal which were very well made. To finish it off I ordered carrot cake to go. Some of the best carrot cake I have had, and the slice was about the size of my head. Definitely will return.

My husband and I went here for our first time a few weeks ago, for his birthday. It was honestly the best meal we have ever had. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and just melted in our mouths. We will be dining here in the future, without question. At first I was skeptical of the high prices, but it was quickly forgotten after the wonderful experience. The great food was well worth the money.

Have been here for happy hour and appetizers many times. Absolutely amazing. Tonight we ordered dinner and had an amazing experience. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Ashley was amazing and service was spectacular. We had drinks after dinner and Tina made us feel like this was home. We will definitely be back. I recommend to everyone 5 Stars!

Husband and I dined there for the first time last night. Ashley was a very, honest, and professional server. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was relaxing. Tina came over and checked how our dinner was. Very pleased, will be back.

We had a group of 6 tonight. Great drinks and good service. Great filets and swordfish tonight! Truffle fries, blue cheese risotto, Brussel sprouts and asparagus were equally well prepared! Would highly recommend. We’ll be back. Soon….

Me and my girlfriend had dinner at Wissota tonight and I was very impressed. The food was wonderful, we both had Ribeye steaks, I had mine with the caramelized onions, they tasted amazing. We also had the garlic chive whipped potatoes and they were very good as well. Our server Grant was very attentive and made sure our drinks were full. They have a good sized beer menu as well as wine list. The atmosphere was upscale but also comfortable. Definitely a very nice dining experience in the Washington county area.

Oh my goodness, where do I start? The staff here is so personable and attentive! Our server, Kathy and the GM, Tina made sure our whole dining experience was top-notch. It was my husband’s birthday and they made him feel so special—telling him Happy Birthday several times and giving him this carrot cake that was to die for! And then the FOOD...everything tasted AMAZING! The portions were large and the flavors were explosive. They have unique choices on the menu that you can’t try just anywhere! We will definitely be back soon!

Fantastic food. My wife and I both had filets, which were mouth watering. We also had the Brussel sprouts and garlic potatoes which were excellent. The atmosphere was very relaxed with a upscale vibe. Almost forgot to mention my brandy old fashioned was the best I've had in a long time. I applaud there attention to detail. Nice work, we will be back again.

We have been wanting to try this place for years, and when we saw their 4-course, 2-wine dinner special on a Wednesday, we decided to give it a try. We could not have been more pleased! The service was excellent (thanks, Ashley!), atmosphere was very much to our liking, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented.

Wonderful experience. Great food, great wine selection, and great staff. Highly recommend if you are interested in having a wonderful night out.

This was our first time being here at the Chophouse. We had received gift cards for Christmas and it was my birthday so wanted to try something different. I’m sure glad we did! It was the next level dining experience for us. The service was excellent and our waitress was a great help and knowledgeable from our wine choice to food options. I told my husband it was the best meal I’ve ever had. The green salad was fresh and generous. My filet was melt in your mouth tender topped with mushrooms delicious! We chose grilled asparagus as our shared side. And to finish it off I chose raspberry tiramisu as my birthday treat and it was free! Thank you Wissota Chophouse wait and kitchen staff for this amazing experience. We will for sure be back.

Lovely atmosphere and great service. The food was good, though I was disappointed that my wissota burger was over cooked. I asked for medium and it was more medium -well/ well done. The sides were all fantastic.

If your looking for an upscale experience in Hartford, then this is a good place. Very unique menu and lots of drink options. I will say that our personal experience is why I’m giving it a 4 star. We had a light bulb above our heads that would go from off to very bright which was annoying and we waited 15 minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted a drink. Otherwise I’d say it was a beautiful place and even though it’s on the pricier side for Hartford, you get what you pay for :)

This was our second time there and we were disappointed in the quality of the meat and cooking again. I would expect something more flavorful. Onions and mushrooms would help, but those are an additional $7 each. There are local places with better steaks for half the price. We had two gift cards that brought us there but I don’t see going back again where I’m paying the full bill.

This is a nice establishment in a middle of the road motel. The food was good but the price was a little high for the quality, service and location. Service timing was very bad. Our appetizers came out quickly but then there was a 20 minute wait for soup and salads. Our sides were brought out with our soup/salads and a incorrect steak was also delivered. We sent the steak and side back and watched the steak get sent to another table after it had sat at our table for several minutes. When our entries were properly served 15 minutes later we were given the exact same side we had received the first time. It appeared to have been put under a heat lamp. Overall all not a great experience for the price.

Steak was good but extremely expensive with no sides. Waitress was good and took really good care of us. Atmosphere was only okay. Small place. Beer selection was good. Only real complaint is for what your paying you should get a side with your steak.

The place first off is located in the hotel..... Just so you are aware. We had the calamari which has no breading and wasn't the best.... That being said I'm sure some people out there like it that way. So to each there own. We also tried the flat bread.the olives are strong, but overall not bad :) when it comes to the steak I had the aged ribeye. I've had worse steaks, but certainly had better. I wont spend 60.00 for it again. It was cooked perfectly; ( rare plus ) and flavor was right. I just think the cut itself was Ehhhh.... Asparagus was delightful as was the mushroom rizzoto. :) A slice of the carrot cake is enough for 3 :) Very good, moist, candied pecans!! In my opinion: if I'm in the area I may go again, but not going out of my way. As far as ambiance: Very clean and comfortable! I love the cow:)

My food was well prepared, but I feel the description was misleading. My wife's salad was disappointing. It seems like their confidence in gluten free prep is not very high. They can cook a steak, they can cook scallops. We loved our first time here. We might go back for a happy hour. It is just priced to high to be inconsistent. Do not recommend for celiac vegetarians. If you just want a steak and do not have dietary restrictions you will probably still enjoy it.

Expensive, meal are missing some greens or side. Yes you can add them to your liking but expansive too.

Service was bad. Steaks and lobster were good. Some of our sides we ordered never came. It is way too loud in there to have a conversation. Staff needs to dress better--no jeans and tennis shoes. Food was good but too high priced for the quality. It is not an upscale dining restaurant as they advertise, more casual place to eat. 8/19/22: Much better! Steak was very good. Still pricey. I would like individual sides, not sides for two. Would like them to serve baked potato. Would now give 4 stars.

Food was good but plates were boring. Atmosphere was not good, whoever designed the restaurant needs a lesson. When you're paying this much for food and drinks the atmosphere must match. Floor behind the bar looks like you're in Denny's or McDonald's. The door to the kitchen it right in front where the bright kitchen lights ruin the mood, and if you're sitting at the bar or a close table, all you see is the opening and closing of the kitchen door over and over. Not a good placement at all for the kitchen door. Service, we sat at the bar for 10+ min waiting for a drink. One bartender on new years eve night, not a lot of people at the bar but locals received better treatment. Manager finally came over and served us. Also, check your bill. We were charged $4 more for the salad then the website and menu stated. Now, to their credit? the manager did refund us the mistake on their side. We will not return. For that price, we will go return to other restaurants that cost the same but better service and atmosphere.

My husband and we looking forward to a nice dinner. Anna was our server sweet young gal but could have been more attentive. We ordered the Wisotta burgers food took a long time to come out didn't seem that busy. My burger I ordered medium rare was more like medium well chef forgot the bacon had to ask for that . Menu says truffle fries but thise weren't truffle fries rather greasy. For $18 for a burger I would have expected better. The parmesan brussels were not crispy as i have had in the past something has changed. The patio is lovely to sit outside. Nice atmosphere.

Overall, unfortunately super disappointing. Always weary of a restaraunt inside a hotel and this was no different. Generally the food was good!! The appetizers were good and all the sides were really good as well. But the service just made the experience super disappointing. First they were out of wine, then forgot a dish, and we were basically blamed for not ordering it loud enough. Then the sea bass came out completely raw in the middle, and were told that the “chef just wasn’t used to the equipment” ?? Then they insisted on cooking an entire new plate from scratch which is a very kind sentiment, but just caused the member of my party to sit there hungry while everyone else completely finished their food before finally getting theirs. And the cherry on top was that during booking we noted that there was a special occasion , and it was never mentioned. That genuinely wasn’t even all. Kind of just a clumsy place, if it was based on the food we’d be back. But we will definitely not return due to the poor service and mishandling of mistakes.

Too expensive. Food wasn’t that good. Service sucked.
