I stopped at Bolney Wine Estate for breakfast and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The setting is absolutely beautiful — the estate is peaceful, well-maintained, and surrounded by stunning vineyards that create a very relaxing atmosphere. The café being located on the first floor is a real highlight. It offers lovely elevated views overlooking the vineyards, which makes the whole experience feel special and unique. Sitting there with a coffee while enjoying the countryside views was truly enjoyable. The food was of great quality — fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour. You can tell care has been taken with both the ingredients and the preparation. The service was also friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would definitely recommend Bolney Wine Estate for breakfast or even just for coffee with a view. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxed morning in a beautiful setting.
We attended the Bolney Experience Tour and Tasting. What could be more interesting than discovering a variety of tastes of English wines? We were offered wonderful wine samples with matching delicious nibbles and we learned interesting tasting rules. Our guide took us into the vineyard and winery and told us a lot of interesting information about the specifics of winemaking, the secrets of production, as well as about the people thanks to whom we can enjoy the taste of delicious Bolney wines. Part of the lunch included local cheese , fresh and yummy . While we were tasting wine, our guide told us about different wines and how to pair them with different foods. It was really wonderful to learn something new and drink great wine. We bought some wines and cheese and will keep warm memories about this welcoming great Bolney Wine Estate.
We went there for a wine tasting afternoon and had a fabulous time. The guide who did the tour round the vineyard was very knowledgeable. The wine tasting and lunch were of very high quality. The paring was good and the lunch was very nice too. We bought a few bottles of Sparkling wine each and had a lovely afternoon there.
Beautiful vineyard and fabulous staff, particularly William and Monica who brought myself and friends through the ‘12 wines of Christmas’ tasting tour. We thoroughly enjoyed all Bolney had to offer and had some tasty sharing boards in the restaurant afterward. Really got us in the Christmas spirit.
This was the best wine tour I’ve been on so far. Most tours are interesting but our guide, William, just had a breadth of knowledge and dry sense of humour that elevated this one to the top. The equipment Bolney use is also very professional compared to some of the rustic small French vineyards. The use of local cheese, chocolate and salami during the tasting was different. Definitely worth a visit.
We have just had the most amazing wine tasting tour at Bolney Wine Estate. The wines were fabulous and our tour guide very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic. The food pairings were done with local cheeses utterly delicious and the meze sharing platters were super. The whole afternoon could not be faulted in any way. Thankyou.
One of a few vineyards in the area we hadn’t visited but stopped off on way home . So glad we did. Great venue lovely staff dogs welcome even inside at the cafe. Great wine and topped of with a great piece of cake. What more can I say. Perfect place
That's a hidden gem in West Sussex. It was an amazing experience . I am very proud to see some very good quality still wines and sparkling wines in the UK . Some of the products you can put on the same level with french wines and champagne. Very reasonably priced wine flights and snacks for it. It's a lovely bar with the terrace overlooking the wineyards, and you can also sit outside by the wineyard with outstanding views and feelings.
I booked for a cheese and wine tasting experience and we were in for a treat. We were taken on a tour through the vineyards, into the wine making building and then back for some wine tasting paired with cheese, chocolate and charcuterie, all locally sourced. The host was fabulous and the talk so informative. The wines which included a white, red, rose and 2 sparkling were all very good and the pricing not too bad. We joined friends in the coffee shop after which lovely too. A fantastic experience enjoyed by all, thank you.
Visited here for Sunday lunch with friends on a lovely day in June. The restaurant, on the first floor above the shop and cafe, is light & airy, with both indoor and balcony tables. Great views overlooking the vines. The food quality was excellent, as were the wines. We particularly enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. All of the staff are really friendly, efficient and hard working. Highly recommended.
Absolutely brilliant! We've been on a lot of Italian wine tours but no U.K. ones until yesterday (06/07/25). From the start it was so well put together, taste some wine, have a tour of the vineyard, some more wine and some food. The guide was exceptional with his knowledge, informative and very friendly. We started off with a glass of wine and some info on the set up and running of the vineyard, then a walk around the vines with details of their growth etc. Into the storage facility and a talk on the wine making process. Back to the main building for some more wine with tastings of different food and how they affect the taste. Finished off with a large plate of meat/cheeses etc. From start to finish it was very enjoyable and the other people doing the tour were friendly as well so we all had a good time. 10/10. It's so good to see an English company doing well.
We visited for the Ultimate Wine Tasting tour. The setting is lovely, especially in the summer. The structure of the tour and tasting was well thought out. We began with a brief intro over a glass of Estate Rose, then the tour through the vineyard and winery, then back to the private tasting room. The tasting had 5 Bolney wines paired with local cheese, fish and salami and we learned about the wines and what foods they would accompany best. This was followed by a sharing board and wine on order if you wanted it. My only small critique would be timing the delivery of the boards and wine to be closer together - which in the grand scheme of things is not a big issue. Personally, I would have been happier with the board arriving a few minutes later so our wine wasn't too far behind. After the tour, there is a lovely deck that catches the sun and is perfect for a relaxed drink after the tasting. Booking in advance for the weekend is essential over the summer as we booked relatively last minute and slots were limited! We would definitely return.
Great wine tour and tasting experience by Will. Great knowlegde sharing on how English wines are made and Bolney’s history
My colleague and I popped in to check the place out. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but I picked up a bottle of their white wine and it was very good. The place is pretty and has nice decor. I’ll definitely be going back in the summer for a tour and some food (accompanied by the wine). Carpark smelt of sulphur which was odd. I will go back and recommend you check this place out.
Had a work event here one Wednesday in July 2024. Really great place for it, very relaxed and the service was excellent. For lunch we went to the restaurant and had a mixed platter. It was lovely, fresh flavours, great cheese and meats, lovely bread. After our event we did a wine tasting and the wines were excellent, I bought a couple of bottles to take home. The two guys who showed us the vineyard and explained the wines were also excellent. Informative, relaxed and amusing. Well worth a visit!
Had the best experience! Did the ultimate wine tour with my sister, our host Ian was fab 😍 and a shoutout to Izzy as well. We had special treatment the whole time, the wines were some of my favourite I’ve ever had, pairing was great, very knowledgeable and easy trip from London. Would seriously recommend to anyone!!! Love love loved it for a day out ✨ not pretentious and just good vibes
Had a tour here on Friday. The guides Alicia and Patrick were superb. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic. All finished of with a lovely charcuterie board.
Bolney Cheese and wine tasting Experience. This was a 1hr 45min experience with a guide of the vineyard, brewing area and tasting. All cheeses are sourced locally and would definitely recommend the goats cheese 😀. Can’t comment on the price of the experience as it was a gift but the wines are quite reasonably priced for quality products
Had a tremendous afternoon and evening on a wine tasting and tour . The guide ( Kelly ) was excellent, she explained everything clearly and concisely and did so with enthusiasm and obvious great knowledge. We then had a tasting session in which further information was given as well as tasting some of the wines produced on the estate along with local cheeses, meats and fish. The estate was beautiful and the whole experience was very enjoyable. I would definitely reccomend a visit.
Incredible location for food, cafe & wine tasting. Can get busy so book in advance. Free parking. Walking tours available. Dogs allowed in outside cafe seating. Prices are reasonable. Friendly staff.
Fantastic visit to Bolney Wine Estate, have visited other vineyards and bodegas, but still learnt a lot. Howard and Sally were great hosts, really engaged the visitors. The food and wine pairings worked really well.. Would recommend to any wine enthusiast!
Never been before! Just popped into the cafe for a small lunch ! Stunning - loved it - will be back. The girls serving were so nice and the food perfect! Will try the restaurant next time!
Popped in as we drove past on Wednesday morning. They are having some work done but easy to work out heading upstairs. We were greeted by several very welcoming members of staff who offered tasting of the wine. Lovely atmosphere to sit and sip wine or get some food. Recommended.
Great experience at Bolney. We had a delayed flight at Gatwick - and Bolney accommodated us last minute without fuss for a tour of the winery and a cheeky couple bottles of delicious bubbles. Want to come back in summer - great place to visit to see wine making.
Fantastic experience!! Stunning location, delicious wine and food, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Special shout out to John & Nick who lead our tour, lovely guys.
Enjoyed the tour of the vineyard with my fiancé for my 30th birthday. The experience did not not disappoint. Nick, our tour guide was outstanding. His knowledge and expertise was second to none. He oozed passion and enthusiasm which shone throughout the tour (even if the sun didn’t!). We’d already tried a number of the wines, having discovered the winery online a while ago, but enjoyed trying another few! I was absolutely astounded by the attention to detail and inclusion for me to partake without any difficulty or fuss despite my milk allergy, matching vegan alternatives to the wines, perfectly! A fantastic trip I would recommend to any wine lover! The value and quality of the tour are fantastic. Thank you Bolney Wine Estate, we will be back!
Superb setting and very friendly staff. Food was delicious but would have liked to have seen some tomatoes… Came away with some fabulous gin and quality sparking wine
Great to see the new cafe and shop open as we are local so a great destination for coffee and cake with dogs. Today was a special occasion with vineyard tour and wine tasting. Thanks to John and Alex for a great experience. Cheese pairings delicious too and the lunch and dessert a bonus. We will be back soon. 👍
Lovely place to eat. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is a lift too, if needed as the restaurant is on 1st floor. The food was delicious and well presented. Really enjoyed my time here and will return.
I can’t fault this place. The brunch is absolutely delicious and everything is super accessible and step free. The lift to get upstairs may require assistance to use as someone needs to hold the door open and the button needs to be held down to go up/down.
I had breakfast here with my family this morning - the setting is beautiful, the shop downstairs has some wonderful products with natural bees wax or their wines etc, and the food upstairs in the restaurant was delightful! The toast could’ve been slightly bigger for the price (maybe two slices) but the egg was wonderfully cooked and the salmon was to die for. The staff were so attentive and the service was quick and friendly. They couldn’t do enough for you! Wonderful and I hope to return soon (hopefully for an evening event)!
Carol was a delightful host to us on our Vineyard tour. Had a lovely time, thank you! It would be nice to have more bread for the lunch and perhaps an alternative for the blue cheese.
Amazing! Went here for lunch today and had an amazing time. Recommend the Bolney Bubbly to get you going and then the charcuterie board and wine flight afterwards. We added a bowl of chips as we were feeling a little greedy 😄 Fantastic views over the vineyards and lovely attentive staff. We will be coming back here and definitely recommending to friends.
Nice sunny afternoon wine tour and wine tasting. Very informative and interesting, learnt a lot about grape vines and varieties, plus how to make the different styles of wine. Had a taste of some nice wine's alongside food. Definitely a nice day out, took about 3 hours.
Although we arrived late, the owner and staff let us hang aroud while they set up for the evening event- a nice touch Tasted 4 wines and I'd have them all again. Everyone we encountered had a friendly warmth and we wished we had arrived earlier for the tour and more time to enjoy the place. The olives were exceptional Looks a good spot to host an event
Excellent experience all round. We did the 1pm 3 hour tour tasting with a sharing platter lunch. The tour guide was brilliant- really informative and interesting with a perfectly pitched sense of humour . We started off with a glass of sparkling as we learnt the history of English wine making/ Bolney. So fascinating to walk through the vineyards and visit the winery - to really start to understand the wine making process from vine growing to bottling. This was followed by tasting of wine. Finished off with a really tasty sharing board of meat cheese n bits! Absolute recommend this tour - don’t hesitate to book!
Went with 3 friends, had a brilliant time. Great tour, charcuterie board and wine tasting. William our guide was very knowledgeable and a great communicator. Would highly recommend.
Highly recommend the wine and tasting tour. Will our guide was excellent. Very informative enjoyable experience. Loved the style of the venue. The scented soap in the washroom is decadent such a nice touch.
My wife had a wine tour as a gift from a friend and we were greeted by our host Carole, shown into a very comfortable and spacious room where we were duly joined by another couple. Carole was very knowledgeable and answered the many questions readily and clearly. The tour was both interesting and informative as the wines were paired with cheese and meats and chocolate, we then had an absolutely wonderful charcuterie lunch which really topped the experience. If you are interested in English wine then this well worth it
This is a great restaurant. It's on the first floor with one glass wall overlooking the vineyard, so the view is lovely. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is reasonably priced and well cooked. The wine menu lists wines from the Estate, so we tried the Bolney Bubbly, a light sparkling white wine and liked it so much we bought 3 bottles from the shop downstairs. It's well worth a visit, as the view makes a nice change from regular pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
Had an amazing evening here. Big party and we were accommodated in our own room. Staff were polite and friendly and the food was amazing. I have not had this level of hospitality in the UK for a long, long time. Absolute credit to you all - well done and thank you.
We had a fantastic morning on the wine tour today. Great autumnal weather 🍁🍂☀️ The wine tasting was fantastic👌 We had an amazing man called "William" that hosted the event outside and in. He was a very, very knowledgeable man. Delicious wine🍷 & cheese🧀 had by all. Thank you so much, we all enjoyed it very much!!🥴😋😆 Then to top the afternoon off, we booked the upstairs restaurant for a beautiful Sunday roast beef & yorkshire pudding, and of course dessert. Will most definitely be returning sometime next year.
Lovely breakfast here. Quality of food was fantastic and the kind staff even offered us a birthday drink! The food is more on the expensive side but this wasn't too much of an issue when the quality is so high We went and there were only about 5 tables in use and 4 staff on shift. Unfortunately due to it not being busy the staff were very relaxed and chatting/laughing most the time front of house which isnt an issue but we had to wait a long time for service and plates were not cleared before we had to eventually get up to go pay the bill. This was a little disappointing but wouldn't stop us returning again for a delicious breakfast in beautiful surroundings. 😀
We got given this nice voucher on our birthday for a wine tour, and today was the day. Maybe a Tuesday morning is not the most logical time for a wine tasting tour, but it was the only slot we could find this week. So we ended up as the only ones in the tour, which was well done and presented by our knowledgeable and kind tour guide. The tour included wine tasting, which was again, well presented and accompanied with some nice cheeses. The wine tasting did have a bit of a ‘please buy out wine’ ring to it, tasted a bit like a promotion, although without any pressure. Afterwards we ordered some coffee with pastries, which were very nice. On a nice day, this is definitely worth a visit.
An altogether good visit. We enjoyed the wine tour with two superb tour leaders Nick and Sylvie, both very knowledgeable and engaging. The wines are mainly white rather than my preference which is red however that didn't take away from the whole tasting experience and opportunity to be both entertained and informed. The meal that went with the tasting tour was OK albeit a little 'light' and in fact could.double the quantities or add mini beefburgers so there is something hot. Also the glass of wine with the meal is chargeable at £8 per glass. Not a problem but this needs to be highlighted so there is choice to spend on this or not.(it kinda is a sucker punch to find out afterwards, especially of you had a glass each as a couple). The signage to the winery is good and it is not hard to find which was a worry but in actual fact it was easy and well signposted. There is everything to like on this wine tasting tour, the guys are brilliant, the premises work as they overlook the vineyard, and the local produce served is a nice touch that connects everything into the locality. So what could be improved: 1. Clear indication on the day for chargeable drinks and prices. 2. When purchasing over £100 worth of drinks it seems reasonable to have the price/charge of a glass of wine removed. Otherwise there's a sour taste and slightly negative feeling left on what really is a superb experience.
Enjoyed a lovely cheeseboard and great wine at Bolney. Unfortunately the service was very uncoordinated, should be better organised. They brought as first a mezze board instead of a cheeseboard, then we saw on the bill that they overcharged us.
Went for Sunday (roast) lunch and was underwhelmed by the atmosphere and the food. We were on the first floor of the restaurant near the windows and it was quite loud, to the point that it was difficult to have a conversation in our group of four. The lack of any carpet or other soft materials seemed to amplify the noise. We ordered the pork belly which tasted rather average - the meat was tender enough and well presented but not very flavourful. The service, however, was very attentive which we appreciated. Not sure whether I would return.
We came to Bolney this week and were very happy with the majority of the day. We paid for wine tasting, a tour and lunch, and loved every minute; our tour guide was fun and outgoing and everyone who served us was friendly and helpful. After our lunch, my friend and I wanted to stay for longer and share another bottle or two, as this is what we usually do at other vineyards. When we asked if we could sit on the upstairs terrace for some drinks and more food, we were told no as it was fully booked. When we looked outside, there was only one table being used and the rest of the terrace was clear. There were more seats outside on ground level (which we were not told about) and when we went to check if any were free, we were met with the (presumed) manager frantically telling us to come back with a rather accusing tone as we had not yet paid for the glass of wine we had with lunch. There were not many people left in the cafe but they stopped and looked and we felt quite embarrassed. We explained we were just checking to see if there were more available seats outside before we decided whether or not to stay and we showed her our table number so she knew we were coming back. I understand it must not have looked good walking out the door without paying for our £10 glass of wines but felt a little disheartened by the reaction, especially after paying £60 for the wine tasting, one of the more expensive packages we have gone for with other vineyards. It felt as though we were getting amazing customer service during the package we paid for but noticed a huge shift in attitude once the package ended, even though we wanted to stay and pay more for food and drinks. It would have been nicer if we were told there were seats outside for us to stay and enjoy, instead of what felt like a rush to get us to leave. I loved every minute of the package but probably won't go back again for this reason.
Went for a Sunday lunch with friends a couple of weeks ago. There were four of us in total and we had booked beforehand. We were sat down promptly and orders taken, drinks arrived promptly. Food however, took over an hour! Could not believe how slow the service was! I was then amazed to find that my food was lukewarm. At this point I was starving so did not bother returning for fear of waiting another hour. Food itself was tasty but very expensive. Will not be returning.
Really poor experience during a visit on Monday 5th to the cafe. The place looks beautiful, but the staff and service are not up to the par I’d expect of this establishment. I had an issue with vegan choices, and asked the girl behind the till to confirm what I could have. She looked rather perplexed and said “we don’t have vegan options”. I then noticed a croissant labelled “vegan” and said “oh, it looks like I can have this” and she again, appeared very confused and said “errrrrrm…I don’t think it’s vegan”, despite the signage clearly indicating it was. I was expecting a bit more action and for her to be forthcoming and say she’d check with the kitchen, but she just didn’t. I felt like I was holding her hand to say “can you go and check?”…. She spotted another younger member of staff with black hair, who scrunched their face and also said “it’s not vegan”. No apologies, no trying to find a solution. In the end my partner said “maybe you can just check with the kitchen” and she said she couldn’t and that the pastry chef who comes in the morning is not here for her to check with. We just had a coffee/tea in the end. I also noted that after all of that, they left the vegan croissant sign out (see photos), so either, a vegan or lacto-free person is about to get a serious stomach ache, or it is vegan…and in which case they’ll be fine. Was I just being trolled the whole time ?? During this time, it’s worth noting that the cafe wasn’t busy, multiple tables left with crockery and just poor vibes from staff. I think you can expect this service at McDonalds, but maybe not here.
