Opinions de Black Oak Coffee Roasters Healdsburg
I'm ashamed that I am just now learning how amazing this place is. I had the Dulce de Latte with no changes, it was not overly sweet and it had so much more depth of flavor than that huge chain coffee place we all know. It may cost a little more but it is worth every penny.
Didn't have any food here but the peanut butter mocha iced was great.
Took my niece and nephew. They're 6 and 4. They were treated as young adults by the staff, and they were on their best behavior. Great food and outstanding latte. Highly recommend the Black Oak.
Very quaint place. The food choices were very good and all tasted great. We tried avocado toast, quiche, and bacon, egg, and cheese bisquit. All were very tasty. The coffee is excellent as was the tea. Would definitely recommend this place.
Black Oak is a Ukiah-based local microroaster with global ambitions yo produce world class made in Mendocino County coffee. And they are doing it even as we speak. This Healdsburg outpost is as good as it gets. Full stop. Even the hipster City of San Francisco can’t match their Black Oak cool kids moves. Come here. Before it’s too late.
Lovely coffee, i especially love their mochas, rich without being overly sweet. They were also incredibly kind to myself and my other crew and understanding when we were doing work in the area or needed their facilities. A great place to support
I adore this place. If you're looking for a good coffee shop in Ukiah this is it. They even have all this roasting equipment you can see through a window near the doors. They're serious about their coffee and the coffee is amazing. I've been to coffee shops all over the bay and none of them even came close to this place.
Long lines but honestly worth it. They sell out of pastries so go before 12! Best coffee I have ever had! I got the hot White Chocolate Mocha and it was a dream! It tasted real not like those other shops qho use artifical syrups. You can tell everything is made here and they perfected their craft. I also had a chocolate croissant and omg it was so buttery and fluffy I wish it was bigger so I could have more! The shop ks such a clean and open space with good seating options so a good hang out place from what I could tell. 100% would come back!
Great place to get a coffee and a treat with each season.
While walking in Healdsburg, we wanted to sit and just have good cup of coffee and a pastry. My wife, although does not drink coffee daily, is very particular about the quality of coffee when she does want a cup. The reviews on Black Oak coffee were very good so we decided to try the place Ordered a flat white with Oat milk and a regular coffee. The coffee was strong but delicious. My wife loved it. I think if we had been in Healdsburg for couple of more days, she would want to go Black Oak Coffee every day. We tried a croissant and that was good - flaky and not very sweet . We did not try other food (sandwiches)
Absolutely beautiful place. Their coffee is gorgeous, they’re nicely staffed, extra friendly, and all around lovely. I would love to see more Vegan options - they do have avocado toast, banana toast, and a coconut yogurt bowl - but a croissant would just be heaven. Thank you for the attention to your craft 💞
Drinks and pastries are amazing, as well as very friendly staff. If you're into floral flavors- their Lavender latte is incredible, as is their "Lover's Lane Latte" which is sweetened with honey and garnished with bee pollen (though it's slightly sweet- so I'd ask for less honey in the future). I have yet to try their other drinks but it seems everything is very high quality and delicious. Enjoy! (:
The chai latte is delish! The baked goods look yummy. Did not see anything for the gluten free crowd, though, but I didn't ask. This was an early Tuesday afternoon. The place was busy but not crowded, the atmosphere is somewhat sterile but it does have a spacious feel.
Wonderful chocolate croissant and iced latte with oat milk. Service was great and very friendly atmosphere. Love everything about it! We are here from out of town and I’m so glad we stumbled upon this place. Highly recommend!
My favorite coffee in Sonoma county. The location is lovely, the coffee is absolutely delicious, the food is great, and everyone is super friendly. Sunday morning are good for people watching (if you're into that.) I buy their beans on the regular for all my home coffee needs.
Good food and coffee & tea drinks at expected prices. There's pleasant Indoor and outdoor seating. It was very busy on a Saturday morning, but we got our food and drinks pretty quickly. The friendly workers really hustle, and everything they need to is to provide good service is present. Highly recommended.
AMAZING COFFEE!!! The flavor shines through. The space is trendy and perfect for gathering or working. I bought some coffee to take back to Tennessee and I already know I'll be ordering more. Seriously, some of the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered a vanilla latte with almond syrup in store and medium roast with chocolate, caramel and lavender for home. DELISH!! (Note: don't leave without getting an almond cookie.)
Interesting coffee drinks with preorder option. Staff was very friendly. Seems to be a socially/eco conscious company. My Mayan mocha was a bit sweet to me. Hubs got a Cafe Borgia which is a mocha with orange. I liked his mocha better because it wasn't as sweet. I think I might try a regular mocha next time.
Stopped by on our way thru to the coast. They were really friendly and accommodating. We got coffee to go, and some beans that needed to be ground as we're headed to a rental without a grinder... Very quick service... Oh and get a churro cookie, it's great.
Great customer service, food and of course, coffee! I feel so lucky to have this gem of a spot in the local community. Beryl and his team are all very friendly and do so much to give back to different non-profits. Definitely worth a visit ☕️
Love this place so much. I use it as my second office. Their prices are very reasonable, their staff super friendly and the quality of their drinks and food is beyond reproach. My one wish is that they were open past 5 :)
Ordered the Gibraltar (dine in only because it’s in a special glass). It was perfect. I also ordered a veggie breakfast burrito which was delicious. I would prefer a meat option but I may have not looked close enough. I did not like the salsa, it was not spicy enough for me! Lol. I will be back! 😍
A friendly coffee shop! What a concept! My first non douchy, very friendly staff experience on the West coast :) Daily costumer, delicious pastries most of them made in house. A bit expensive and ok, one bad thing! It's always freezing in there, i am not the only one jackets while sipping coffee! Thanks for giving Healdsburg a great coffee shop. Please bring the temp a couple degrees up :)
Great coffee and pickup logistics! We had a large order for an event, and they had everything set up ready to go. Responsive in the weeks leading up to the event as well
I routinely buy their coffee at Costco, but yesterday was my first time to visit their Healdsburg cafe. I was not disappointed! It's a nice and airy place staffed with some friendly and efficient personnel. As I expected, they served great cappuccinos, and they had in stock a wide selection of coffee beans to buy. All in all, this is a fabulous cafe.
Cappuccino was very good. Blueberry muffin was good. Nice service and atmosphere.
Sonoma County’s best coffee shop! Their coffee selection is great - I am sure to pick up a bag of whole beans every couple of weeks to have Black Oak at home when I’m not able to make it to the cafe. And when I can make it to the cafe, I’m in for a treat. The delicious pastries and hot food options hit the spot for breakfast or an afternoon snack. I love that the menu isn’t stagnant, there’s quite often something new to try - especially seasonal treats! The pastry chef is so creative! And the baristas are artists - hopefully you’re lucky enough to have Brian craft your beverage! I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is run very well and I can’t wait to head back in next week. Cheers Black Oak!
I quickly stop to get coffee and got the Horchata one. Once I have more time, I want to stay longer and try some of their desserts too.
Such good food, coffee, and the best sweets and brown butter toffee cookie and friendly staff.
My go to place! Dulce de leche latte is amazing, as well as their breakfast burritos. I recently had a mixup with a gift card that was purchase and Dean, the manager was super helpful and went above and beyond to get it taken care of. Great service and will definitely continue being my fav coffee shop in the area.
I asked several locals, where to go for coffee and this place was mentioned by several people. I had to come try it. It was awesome..I ordered an Americano with a pump of their house made chocolate syrup. It was delicious. I also tried one of the dark chocolate fig candy bars..it was so good. I'll definitely be back.
Great coffee cafe! They sell their own beans, sold grinders, and pour over equipment. Everyone in line seemed to get their signature drinks -came with a treat on the lid (not sure if that was a holiday only treat). We did a pour over and mocha - both were good. Their banana bread was amazing.
February 2022: Stopped by one afternoon and tried the pour over coffee. The selections of coffee were really good. A few piqued my interest and was happy to see many light roast options! 👍 Overall, was really happy with my pour over. Service was very friendly. Would definitely come back for more delicious ☕ in the future!
Coffee here is fantastic! Highly recommend everyone to try their seasonal lattes. I ordered lavender latte and honey lattes, they both tasted great! Staff is super friendly, inside is spacious with decent amount of seats (with tables), oh and, did I mention their pastries are amazing as well? :)
Tried the Lavender Matcha Latte and Peanut Butter Mocha here -- both were amazing! The lavender matcha was super smooth with a nice floral touch, not too sweet. The peanut butter mocha was rich, nutty, and cozy, like a warm hug in a cup. And the vibe here is super chill — clean, modern, and the kind of place you could post up with a laptop or just people-watch all afternoon. 10/10 would order again.
This is the crema you’ve been searching for, the kind that makes your inner barista whisper, “hot damn”. Black Oak is absolutely dialed. I hit it twice in two days while bouncing around Healdsburg, and every pull, every pour, every sip was on point. We’re talking silky microfoam, balanced extraction, and flavor notes hitting like a perfectly tuned V60 on a crisp morning. Day two, the line was massive, but these folks run their bar like a damn Formula 1 pit crew. Four people on bar, ripping through orders with precision and zero attitude. Lightning-fast workflow, clean shots, consistent temp. You can tell they actually give a damn. Great staff, cool shop, and legitimately some of the best coffee in town. If you care about your caffeine the way sommeliers care about tannins, this place is your spot.
Overall, great experience my first time visiting. I had a very pleasant coffee, I purchased decaf beans to go. I even made a friend.
I've heard really good things about this spot so l made sure to stop by while in town! I got the Pandan latte which i enjoyed. I also tried their saffron cortado which was a unique twist on a cortado, I do wish i could've tasted the saffron a little bit more though. My boyfriend ordered their jalapeño cheddar biscuit and wow! It was incredibly moist and flavorful, definitely a must grab.
This is THE place in town for your coffee! It's where the locals hang, the dogs gather, and the people watching is the best. My Americano was delicious every time I came here, (4), and I had a spinach quiche, bought a bag of whole coffee beans to go, but the best part of all was...a perfectly warmed chocolate chip cookie that just melted in your mouth! Incredible...The energy inside is contagious, the large windows up front with a small ledge for your Joe and sweet treat, is perfectly located, and the conversations amongst the tables behind you, confirm that you've found the town hangout. Enjoy! I sure did.
Honestly, obsessed. Love this shop. The coffee and tea were great. I was at a bachelorette party and we stopped here twice on our 3-day Sonoma visit because it was so good. The aesthetic of the shop was also so cute! They have grounds/beans you can buy to make your own coffee at home, too. There’s a bathroom and self-serve water with glasses if you need it.
Great coffee, pastries, service and atmosphere. I like the the way the place looks like. Very clean and organized 👌🏼. I recommend this place.
I cannot say enough about Black Oak and how much I love it! The food and bakery items are exceptional, and the lattes are some of the best I’ve ever had. The lovers lane latte with vanilla cold foam (pictured) is to die for! I live 20-30 minutes from here, but I wanted to try it out, and they didn’t disappoint! I returned that same weekend with my family and went twice that day because their coffee was THAT GOOD. I was very pleased and couldn’t stop raving to my friends about Black Oak. I would drive out here any day, and I so badly wish we had one in Santa Rosa. Not to mention, the pricing is reasonable compared to most shops. After trying Black Oak, nothing compares, and all I want now is to invest in an espresso machine to use their beans at home whenever I’d like- it’s seriously that good! The atmosphere and location are also amazing. The vibes inside the shop are cozy, warm, and inviting, but if you want to enjoy the great weather, they have outdoor seating, and the shop is a few steps from their downtown square. My experience with Black Oak has been a 10/10 in every aspect, and I wish I had found them sooner. I love Black Oak Coffee!!
I usually stick to non sugary coffee drinks but I had to try the Dubai Mocha. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 100000/10! I also order a five pound bag on subscription and have been satisfied with the coffee and lovely staff when I go in. Keep up the amazing work!
Cute spot! Good latte. Stunning pottery. Super curious pricing schemes. Not sure how matcha could vary from $4-7 but lattes from 4.50-6. T-shirts for $20 but hats for $25. Maybe this is just me being skeptical of money laundering. Anyway. The latte art was a swan which I thought was fabulous. This is your typical, reliable, hippy liberal coffee shop.
Love this place! Stopped this morning after Quail and Condor (yes you need to go there), and I loved that they make their own syrups. they were really busy; it was a Saturday morning. I got their lavender latte and it was perfect. Natural lavender, not too heavy, and a the espresso is just that good. It reminded me of the lavender latte I made at home (with my own lavender syrup). I can’t wait to come back and try their other drinks. Service is good. Be prepared to wait a good 5-7 minutes on a busy Saturday morning.
The space previously occupied by Flying Goat Coffee is now taken over by Black Oak. The food offering is better, with several gluten free options. The espresso oat drinks have good micro-foam. We had an enjoyable stop over after lunch at Little Saint.
Pit stop on the way up Mendocino. Great tea! This is not as common as it should be. They make custom teabags. We asked for extra strong with steamed milk. It was just right. Delicious selection of munchies also. We had chocolate croissant and a jam scone. Both were delicious.
One of my all time favorite spots for good coffee and pastries. While the coffee quality remains relatively the same the quality of their latte art has seem to taken a decline from times past.

Beautiful coffee shop in Healdsburg, very aesthetic space, nice atmosphere, and the service was warm and good. It’s definitely a lovely place to visit and try it. The matcha, in my opinion, was pretty regular and didn’t feel out of this world, but that’s just my personal taste and I know others may feel differently. Overall, still a nice spot worth checking out.
Great coffee shop with delicious, well-made coffee. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and provide excellent service, making it a very pleasant place to stop by.
Boyfriend and I have only been here one time, have only tried one drink, but we both agree that it was best tasting mocha we've had as far back as we can remember. The large drink was about $6, which to me sounds kind of expensive but Boyfriend says mochas at high end coffee places cost that much and we could've spent that much at Starbucks for something that tasted far less impressive. We will definitely be stopping here again in the future.
Delicious breakfast options and good coffee. Great spot to enjoy with others and potentially to work from. The wifi didn’t work on either of my laptops, so I had to leave, but would have liked to stay and work for a bit and order lunch.
It's hip coffee shop. Pastries were pretty good. My cappuccino was good but luke warm so u have to request for extra hot... seating is limited for party of 3 or more although it is spacious inside...
Latte was to order - extra hot, no foam. Thanks for that. Scone was tasty. Only complaint was it was a bit chilly inside on an already chilly morning. Thanks baristas. Have been in twice while traveling in the area.
Good coffee location and it get busy at times. I want to say that the AC turns on very cold. Parking some time is hard to find because it’s near the downtown area.
Coffee is, as usual (like its sister spot in Ukiah), is awesome. Service great, location excellent. Just wished for a little homier feel I guess, but is that a fair assessment?
This is my first time to try this place. I ordered mocha and it was delicious. I like it and will have it again. I will also try different drinks next time.
I'll start off by saying I'm still furious with the greedy landlords that forced Flying Goat Coffee out. That being said Black Oak coffee tastes good. But the way the space is set up makes it feel like you're not welcome to sit. All the tables are small. the stools are a joke, and the wall benches are not designed with humans in mind. More tables could fit inside if the space was set up better and there aren't any tables outside for some reason. Flying goat was a staple of the community and I think it's on Black Oak to prioritize creating a space that welcomes community gathering over their current sterilized techie aesthetic.
We have been a huge fan ever since they opened and we have come here just about every other weekend if not more. However, we have noticed in the past 6 months or so, the drip coffee has not been as good (a bit too bitter) and the portion size of the avocado toast has dramatically been reduced! We hope this is not the beginning of the end…it certainly is forcing us to consider other options!!
This was one f my favorite lunch and coffee spots, but they stopped serving any gluten free lunch options or breads so I can’t eat here anymore. Such a loss to no long be able to go here. Wish the servers had been more helpful. Very disappointing. Used to love their avocado toast.
Pretty basic/ in line with all the other minimalist craft coffee shops. Coffee was no better nor worst than the next. I would return here if in the area maybe but it's pretty busy and there are plenty of other shops in the area. Espresso was good taste and good temp and perfect amount of liquid for a double. Cold Brew tasted like cold brew I have had before not bad but not "it". Sister's iced latte NF milk was standard as well.

Long wait, high prices and a bitter/burned espresso. I was particularly surprised by the odd taste of the espresso since I have added some sugar, which was actually part of the hard cube of sugar that gets served with the espresso for-here mug, which takes a bit of work to break down if one only wants to add a bit of sugar and not the entire cube. Overall, I wish I had spent those 10 minutes otherwise.
Look how light the matcha is. Matcha with no sweet should tatse like matcha. Not just the milk. I taste no matcha at all, maybe less milk and more matcha next time.
I want to give this place 5 stars because everything is delicious!! Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with one of my drinks. I cannot drink caffeine because I feel sick from it. I asked if the chai tea latte was decaffeinated, they said yes because it was a powder. I ordered it (it was delicious) but ended up feel sick the entire day. When I checked my receipt on my email it says “Spiced black tea with textured milk” but the menu doesn’t mention black tea- nor was the server informed of it. Very misleading. This could have been avoided with clear signage and the barista being informed. It’s hard to find great decaffeinated options at coffee shops but I trusted that the barista would know when asking them.
I asked for a toasted bagel with plain cream cheese and lox. I was offered plain or everything bagel. I chose "everything". I asked for it to be toasted at the beginning of the order and then double checked at the end of the order. I ordered it to go. I waited about 10 minutes, got my order and left. I drove to a less crowded area and opened my box. There were some kind of greens on the bagel. It's not what I asked for, but I tried it anyway. It was not that great. I paid almost $20.00 for the bagel and chocolate milk. I was not going to waste it. I continued eating it and it just tasted weird. I pulled it open and found several slices of cucumber. I pulled them off since they repeat on me. It's been 6 hours since, and I'm still burping cucumber. I don't appreciate having added ingredients without my knowledge.
