Opinions de Redwood Pie Hermosa Beach
Stopped by for dinner because we were in the area. Ordered cheese pizza and were pleasantly surprised. This thin crust pizza was scrumptious! The pizza was super yummy and the sauce tasted fresh and homemade. Although the sign outside says they serve sandwiches but currently they only have pizza and arugula salad. The inside has a small area of bar type seating, with a quaint outdoor dining area. If you love thin crust, you’ll love this pizza! It’s worth a drive to give it a try.
The pizza at this place is very good. I got the lunch special which entails a 2 slice choice with arugula salad with a drink of choice. The slices and salad were served on the a cardboard plate which is neat. There's seating inside and outside for dining which is nice. The staff was very nice and the space is very open and inviting. I got the classic pepp and D-Fresh. The sourdough crust was cooked very well and chewy. The flavor of the pizza was great and not greasy at all.
Freshest pizza youll find, compared to other shops that have premade pies sitting around waiting to be reheated, this place has em hot and ready in minutes, couldnt get any fresh. I will be regularly visiting this spot.
Came here for the sourdough dough for the pizza and I will definitely be coming back, just as the guys behind the counter promised. Newly opened pizza spot on the street leading to Hermosa pier, so limited street metered parking. They have limited patio outdoor seating, but you’re at the beach so might as well take your pie to go and eat it at the beach, watching and listening to the waves crash. They have 11 different styles of pizza that cost $15-20 for 12” and $20-25 for 16”. We ordered the margherita 16” ($20) and half classic pepp and half d-fresh 16”. (Disclaimer if they’re super busy, they can’t do half and half! So don’t get mad.) The dough was phenomenal, super crunch and chewy. The crust is like a mini baguette. I was hesitant about half d-fresh because it’s a white/bianca pie because I find them to be a little too creamy, but with the spicy sausage, garlic, and pickled Serranos it had a kick to it. The classic pepp has the pepperoni you’d find on a slice of pizza in nyc. What more can I say. The guys behind the counter were super nice and funny. They have over 8 years of experience in pizza making, and honestly the best pizza I’ve had in the South Bay.
a very welcome addition to the south bay pizza scene. solid. nice crispy crust. this has become our go to spot the past couple months. consistently great pie 🔥 update: they've added sandwiches & salads. on point as expected. these guys dont miss
Really enjoyed the new spot in Hermosa! There are a handful of seats inside (7-8) and they seem to be sharing the outdoor seating area with The Source. Good service and friendly staff. Sourdough crust was tasty & crisp. Well portioned toppings and good balance of cheese & sauce. I love the Slice n Pint and this will be right up there for my preferred pizza spots in the South Bay!
Terrific and delicious 🍕, and the outside sitting area is great on a nice day. Only open for 3 months and the mix of ingredients are top notch. The crust is perfect! The service is a bit slow, but that will be cleaned up as they grow.
We've been having excellent slices in Los Angeles and Long Beach, so it's great to see this in the south bay! The sourdough flavor is pretty light, which is wonderful. The crust was delightful and crispy, the pepperoni cuppy and delicious greasy, the jalapeno had a serious kick. The single salad on the menu at the moment is fantastic and refreshing. They'll let you do a half half pizza when they aren't busy. The menu is currently tight and mostly pizza. I can't wait to see what it turns into. Service is counter/self serve, efficient with a light touch.
My fiancé and I were in the mood for pizza but wanted to go somewhere new. We looked online and saw this place. I had seen it while passing by and always wondered about it. The reviews were good and the pictures of the food looked good. So we walked on over. It’s a small place, a few seats outside and some inside. All they do is pizza and one type of salad. I like a place that doesn’t try to do too many things; quality usually isn’t as good. It was just five guys busting it out, tons of to-go orders. The guys were very friendly and I loved the pizza. I like all styles - Neapolitan, handtossed, love it all. This style is a bit more on the crispy side but the tops were tasty and I really enjoyed it. My fiancé and I both ate a 12 in pie to ourselves and it was the perfect amount (granted we were hungry and we can eat a lot). Highly recommend if you like a crispier pizza done well.
Have been living in LA for 15 years. Constantly searching for a quality East Coast pie. We used to hit Grimaldis on Rosecrans and do think Slice & Pint is a standout. However after today we really feel Redwood may be the best we've ever had. Light airy charred crust with perfect sauce to cheese ratio and they didn't skimp on pepperoni as each bite had ample. Crispy, Cup and charred as well. We will be regulars and happy to have this down the street from us. Update, week two, same great pie.. consistent! Had a smaller 12 in and just as crispy crust and delicious as the first. Terrible people with bad intentions will get on here within 1 week of opening and try to ruin someone's livelihood with a bad review. To the guy who left 2 stars, enjoy your Dominos and Papa John's my guy. You clearly wouldn't understand the art and love that goes into making an amazing handmade original ingredient anything.

Redwood Pie in Hermosa Beach serves up pizza that will transport you straight to New Haven, Connecticut’s oldest pizzerias. Like the legendary “Big Three” of Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Sally's Apizza, and Modern Apizza, their pies boast a gloriously thin and crispy crust, a tangy and flavorful tomato sauce, and a selection of fresh, high-quality toppings. The crust at Redwood Pie is a thing of beauty – perfectly charred on the edges and delightfully crunchy throughout. It provides the ideal foundation for the vibrant sauce, which is bright and slightly acidic, just as it should be. Toppings are fresh and flavorful, adding layers of complexity to each bite. Although I haven’t recently enjoyed the “Big Three,” Redwood Pie captures the essence of that iconic New Haven style. It's a true gem in Hermosa Beach, offering a taste of East Coast pizza perfection. “I Highly Recommend - “Sausage and Pepp” (red sauce, mozzarella, Ezzo pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, parmesan).”
Hands down the best pizza in Hermosa. Eric, the owner, is an absolute pro at his craft. After regularly indulging on a weekly basis, I’ve recommended this place to dozens of friends and everyone has been equally blown away. Great service, excellent pizza, and always fresh. 11/10!
Best pizza in South Bay and I am a very tough critic. The crust is incredible, it taste authentic, and you are getting the highest quality ingredients. If you are looking to order pizza, look no further
The Margherita here is incredible. The sourdough crust has that perfect crunch on the outside with a light, airy inside and just the right tang. The sauce is fresh and flavorful, the mozzarella melts beautifully, and the basil ties it all together. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients in every bite. On top of that, the staff is super friendly and welcoming—you can tell they’re proud of what they make. We found our new favorite pizza spot. Redwood Pie is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to.
Outstanding pizza and top notch quality! Stopped in for my first pie today and very pleased with the overall experience - no doubt this will be my new go to spot for pizza in the South Bay!!
The rumors are true you gotta finish the pizza within like 10 minutes of it coming out of the oven or the crust gets a tad bit too chewy for people without superhuman jaw muscles. But within that golden window everything about the pizza is divine. My goto is the d fresh
Hands down best pizza in the South Bay. Arugula salad is always awesome with the delicious lemon vinaigrette. Crust is perfection. I love the pepperoni/spicy sausage.
Great staff, very welcoming with us and all the individuals after us. The pizza was great, favorable, firm (not soggy) and they also sell sourdough bread. There is a counter to eat in the restaurant or tables outside.

I had grown weary of the pizza options around here, but then Redwood Pie opened. The pizza horizons have opened up for me again and all is good in my little world. Highly Recommended!

One of the better pizza places in the South Bay. Crispy pizza that both kids and adults can enjoy. Service was quick. They even rushed a last minute pizza we ordered with our original order so everything came out together. It will be great when their outdoor dining deck is up and running for more seating. Highly recommend - we’ll be back for sure.
Great pizza, crispy, hot and good sauce. Fast service. Great lunch special deal. Limited seating inside, nice outdoor seating. I’d put it on the upper scale of California pizza spots. 🍕👌🏼

Solid pizza. Docked a star because, on multiple visits, the very thin crust lacks the chewy and fluffy texture you expect on a sourdough — it’s too often rock-solid and all crunch (most in our group skip eating it). Maybe just over baked on the times I visited.
As always the pizza is good. They just really need to do a better job of estimating when the pizza is ready. 20 minutes turns into 40 45 minutes every time. And I mean I’ve been there about 15 times . Guess I should plan on it!
The pizza tastes amazing. Unfortunately I consistently notice that size that you get it’s smaller than what indicated. I’d still recommend it.
