Opinions de Palmilla Hermosa Beach
We had a wonderful meal here. Our fish tacos and enchiladas were great. Drinks were great too. Instead of the usual chips and salsa, we were served soft tortillas with three different sauces. Our server explained that we could tear the tortillas into pieces.
Located close to beach and pier. Indoor outdoor seating. Definitely a hot spot. Suggest getting reservations. We sat outdoors. Area was a little tight with some close together tables. Umbrellas for day, heaters and a fire pit table was an option. ( Reservation needed). Some soft taco type greeting app was served with a few different type of sauces. Our server Eric was the best. Friendly, accommodating and extremely attentive. Food was delicious. I'm not a fan of Mexican cuisine but Eric's suggestion was spot on. Margaritas were a huge hit.
Had steak tacos and fish tacos. Both were fantastic. Steak was smokey and tender. Fish was thick and well seasoned. Drinks were tasty if maybe a bit too sweet. Will definitely come back.
The staff here are incredibly welcoming. Our waiter, Ryan, was so attentive and made great recommendations. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a night out. Highly recommend!
A very pleasant surprise. We went on a Sunday at noon with no reservation. We had planned to go next door but they were full. Palmilla gladly took us, and did not mind at all that we started with 4 people and needed to have 2 people join us later. Our waiter was fantastic - one of the best ever. The food was delicious, with not one thing even slightly off. For the LA area, prices were very reasonable and portions are big and filling. They definitely earned some repeat business. Well done.
My took me here for a birthday celebration just the two of us, servers were awesome, food was great, dinning out on the patio with the heather, soo nice, a friend recommended it to her, we'll probably go back to try something else 👍💯👍
Palmilla made my 50th birthday celebration absolutely unforgettable! I hosted a dinner for 21 of my closest girlfriends and from start to finish everything was flawless. We partied and dined in their private dining room tucked behind the kitchen with its own private bar. Such a hidden gem! Zena (Events Manager) was a dream to work with during planning. She helped with the menu, drinks, seating, budget, and even the flow of the night. I had a very specific vision (long toast + background music + slideshow at the perfect moment) and she went above and beyond, even letting me come in the day before to make sure everything was set up perfectly. She even followed up with me after the event to thank me. JD (General Manager) was incredible and made me feel so taken care of all night (and the day before too!). He checked in with me throughout the evening to make sure I was happy and that everything was going exactly how I wanted. I truly felt like a QUEEN! And DJ… WOW. He handled a very boisterous group of 21 women like an absolute pro and somehow managed to be our bartender, waiter, and behind-the-scenes magician all at once. He kept the drinks flowing, the energy up, and even jumped in with the music/AV/DJ duties to help my vision come to life in the moment (his name being DJ made it even better 😄). He was seriously amazing and took the best care of us! Everything was soooooo delicious and all my friends are still talking about the amazing food and rock star service. Thank you to the entire team at Palmilla for making it a perfect night for my 50th!
This was our first dining experience and it was a fabulous time from the delicious fresh flour tortillas and condiments and the creative and tasty dinner. We saw several other plates we want to try and will be back. There's a great selection for everyone!!
Delicious vegan options. I have not dined in but got food delivered and it was really good. Everything was freshly made with high quality ingredients. The seasoning was also perfect. Better than some fully vegan restaurants I've been to for items like enchiladas, tacos, salads, and taquitos.
We are return customers, coming here a few times a year. We really enjoyed our meal, well presented, flavourful and plenty of it. They appeared a little short of staff but considering the current environment, it wasn’t a surprise, so I am not knocking them down for it. Our server was just great.
Cool place and good food. I swear, they must only hire models as servers here. Incredibly friendly and helpful though, so can't complain lol. The drink was great too - the cocktails are worth the price. I'm not entirely sure how long it would normally take to be seated here because I met up with people who were already there, but it was verrrrrry busy so I assume the wait would be a while.
One of the busiest and best spot in Hermosa combining great food with a young fun atmosphere and cool decor. The outside patio is usually packed and you should def get a reservation at peak times. Inside has really nice comfortable boot and nice wall treatments that stand out on the pier in a good way. You really can't go wrong with the good here.. of the ceviche trio the cabo is our favorite.. being more of a traditional flavor. The shrimp taquitos are not only delicious but visually a great presentation. We have had tons of the dishes here and the seafood is wonderful as are the more traditional Mexican dishes and combination plates. The menu is pretty deep and the kitchen puts out great food pretty quickly even when its packed. This is one of our favorite places in Hermosa because it has such as great buzz and also excellent service, food and drinks. Has to be our #1 option on the pier.
I got there just before the dinner rush. The outside tables were filling up, and the bar was full. Great Service. The most amazing food. They gave complimentary homemade flour tortillas, butter, red salsa, and green avocado salsa. Wow best tortillas I ever had. Then finish off with the three most flavorful De Filet Mignon Tacos that just melted in my mouth. The meat is very tender, and the flavors are like a bite of heaven with every bite. JD the GM runs the place very well.
Inside the decor is beautiful - but the sunset from the outside dining is stunning! You really can't go wrong =) The food was creative & delicious. The staff was great at recommending their favorites. Don't skip the Shrimp or the Braised Short Rib taquitos - Mmmmm so good! They even had a spot for our Brompton's! Will happily be back soon!
I was in Los Angeles on business and decided to try this place after seeing the great reviews. I ordered online, which was super convenient, and picked up with not much wait. The filet mignon fajitas were tender and full of flavorful. The rice and beans were also well prepared, seasoned perfectly and a great complement to the meal. The location is amazing, with a great atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town!
Food was delicious. The portions were giant! So definitely come with an appetite. When we arrived it was the middle of the afternoon and it was empty. To the point we thought it was closed. We ordered a coffee and it tasted like water. It’s definitely more of a cocktail place. We would come back for drinks.
Solid 4. Had a fun Saturday night with friends at this Mexican restaurant on Hermosa beaches boardwalk which was very busy and happening on Saturday. We sat outside in a semi booth with a fire pit which was very nice and cozy. The weather was great. The service was also great. We had their ceviche trio and guacamole for appetizers. They were great tasting but the ceviches was too small for all of us to get a good taste. I ordered the carnitas which the server also recommended. Unlike other places the meat is not shredded but rather is in pieces. It was good but as expected there were a few chucks of fat. It was a great deal at $28. My wife got the tostado which was huge. Overall the food was great. The ambiance is good too as long as you don’t mind the heavy rock music sound coming from across the street. This is quite a bit different than the Palmilla in Newport Beach which is more romantic.
Got seated right away without any reservation. The place was so packed, the waiters could barely get through to bring food. That was the only downside though. The food was very affordable and fulfilling in my opinion. I got the steam tacos, and the tasted amazing. I know this is mainly an alcoholic drink place, but they should try to work on their non-alcoholic beverages as well. Other than that, I had a good experience.
Had an excellent lunch but it adds up! The margaritas are exceptional (a little too full of ice though in my opinion) but the food was very very good. We had the 2 enchiladas meal and the chicken crispy tacos both of which were great but for some reason I wasn't digging the refried beans they serve? They're really light and bland. The starter they bring you with salsas and tortillas was pretty good but the chips and salsa were better. The margaritas are pricey though, about $12-15 per. The tacos were $22 for the entree. It adds up but the service was great, I enjoyed the open air vibe, and the decor was tasteful.
We arrived around 5pm for dinner and there were not many tables sat. We were told at the host station that the only table was in the corner and was only available until 6:30pm - however we watched plenty of open tables remain through our stay that would have had a perfect view of the promenade and the sunset. Non the less, the appetizer of tortilla with honey butter and salsa was okay. The tortillas were the best part. The salsa tasted like the jarred stuff from a grocery store. We both ordered chicken enchiladas and the food arrived hot and well made. Nothing spectacular but well prepared. The spicy mango cocktail was delicious and so was their watermelon one. The server who helped us was very quick and attentive. There seemed to be a lot of "cougars" dining at this time. Located right on the end of the Hermosa Beach pier. Would be perfect for a quick bite to then walk up the pier to catch the sunset.
Stopped in this morning for brunch with the family and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the service felt off from the start. We ordered drinks right away, but after our server came back a second time to ask if we were ready to order drinks, it still took about 15 minutes for them to actually arrive. Not exactly the smooth kickoff you hope for at brunch. Once we got our drinks, we ordered food. To their credit, the food itself was pretty good. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. It was definitely on the pricey side for what you get, but the flavors delivered. Overall, the kitchen did its job, but the service just didn’t match the quality of the food. With better attention and timing, this could have been a much better experience.
Almost a week ago I came here for the first time with my now fiancé. On 12.20 we got engaged and he had planned a nice afternoon with just the 2 of us to celebrate. He had many options but wanted to make the experience extra special. We show up to Palmilla, there was a reservation for 2:30p that had been made but the engagement ran longer than he had planned - it was on the beach where our entire family had gathered for our special day. Everything was perfect, we had showed up @2:45p on the dot and felt secure because there’s a 15 minute grace period. We walked up with the biggest smiles on our faces, giggling, holding hands, coming down from the biggest rush of emotions- that’s when it went downhill. There was a hostess (don’t know her name) she was blond, short, hair in ponytail who checked us in and informed us in a very RUDE manner and tone of voice that in the future we have to call ahead of time in case we’re running late. I hit her back with a smart “sorry, we literally just got engaged.” You would think the next appropriate words to say would maybe be “Congratulations.” Or “How exciting.” But she chose to say nothing, just simply sat us at our table, and left it as is. I was not about to let her ruin such a perfect day. But this is definitely not the person Palmilla should have as a greeter / host. This is not the first person that anyone should interact with. If you have any type of class, humility, empathy, love, or family oriented - I wouldn’t suggest this place. I could think of sooooo many other places that would go out of their way to say a simple “Congratulations.” Or go above and beyond by providing us with a free drink, a free dessert, even $5 off - and this place did absolutely nothing because the girl in the front did not mention a single word. This is definitely the first and LAST time we will ever be going here. Very disappointed on the lasting impression she made.
