Go here! We wanted to treat my parents, who live on the island, to a nice dinner while we were staying with them. This would be a perfect spot for a fancy date or an anniversary dinner or other special event. Tash, our server, was fantastic! You could really tell she understood the menu, including the specials, and we ended up ordering not only the special cocktail, but entree as well. We never waited for anything, and she managed that perfect balance of unobtrusive, while also showing up exactly when we needed something. She did not steer us wrong, up to and including the bread pudding we ordered for desert. (We almost never order desert!) Celeste has a clearly New Orleans-inspired menu, and while food snobs (an epithet some might aim at me) love to hate on restaurants that try to replicate the classics outside of the Big Easy, (the same way people say you can't get a good bagel outside of NYC), if you teleported this place into the heart of the French Quarter, I think they'd get rave reviews. I was instantly homesick for NOLA, and not at all disappointed by our meal. The char-grilled oysters, the gumbo, the jambalaya, and the étouffée were all wonderful. The sides and accompanying dishes were every bit as good as the main dish. I particularly like the deep fried polenta that had a wonderful crispy shell while being soft as butter inside. Likewise the gouda grits were a perfect match for the blackened grouper. I got the porchetta, the special that day. Even though this is an Italian dish, it had a Cajun spin on it that was amazing. Even though the portions were generous we ended up needing only a very small box for our leftovers. Oh, and I can't leave out that the bread was excellent. If I had to offer any constructive criticism at all, it would have to be on the cocktails. The pear martini, that day's special, was perfect. However, the Cajun Sour (a riff on a New York sour), and the milk punch (cousin to a coquito or maybe a white Russian) were both served over crushed ice. They were balanced, mixed well and beautifully presented, but, and this may just be my own personal preference, I'm not a huge fan of crushed ice in my cocktails because they too quickly get watered down. This might have been more appropriate for the punch (although I'm not a fan of watery milk), but I prefer my sours to be served up, particularly when there's a red wine float that makes for such a striking appearance. To be clear, though, I enjoyed them and this didn't detract at all from the overall experience. In summary, absolutely go here. Restaurants that really, really care about their food need our love, now more than ever, and I want to see this gem survive for many more visits to the island.

This is one of those places that draw a smile on my face every time I visit HH. The service from Kara was phenomenal since the first interaction. She gave us space without forgetting us. Super attentive. The restaurant has a nice vibe and it has beautiful decor. For drinks, my spouse ordered the Citrus Mint Julep and Damn!! It was really good! I ordered the house red margarita and it was really balanced. For appetizers, we ordered the Tuna Stack, and the Salmon Eggroll. I would not recommend the egg-rolls as they were bit greasy and nothing special about it. But the Tuna Stack felt refreshing in every bite. For entree I ordered the Pan Seared Cajun Grouper and it came with the most delicious Dirty Rice I’ve ever tasted. I could eat a whole bowl of it. Fish was tasty too. My spouse had a Scallop Special, which was scallops wrapped in bacon over a bed of risotto and topped with crab salad. Delicious!!! For dessert, we ordered a bread pudding that easily positions in my top 3 of that category. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ORDER IT! also ordered the Chocolate Mousse Pie and it was good but jot as special as the other. Definitely, I recommend this place! Treat yourself!

The six of us had great meals. For starters, the gumbo was delicious and the calamari was so fresh, tender and flavorful. The jambalaya was superbly cooked with tender shrimp and the andouille sausage was perfect. The special of the evening, the ahi tuna, cooked to perfection and so well presented. Dolan the bartender makes an exceptional dirty martini and our waiter, Miles, was attentive and explained all of the dishes. We topped it off by sharing the beignets and the bread pudding which was so tasty. We always enjoy Celeste and it's one of the best restaurants on the island.

Wow. We have discovered a great upscale restaurant. Didn’t even get into the main entree menu. We shared amazing appetizers. The calamari was superb and the mini crab claw appetizer was unreal. Highly recommend this restaurant. Dolan, the bartender was the best.

New Orleans style is well seen throughout their menus... And excellent on all levels, a special place, nicely decorated w/table clothes, upscale atmosphere, upbeat music, food presentation a big plus on its plate, many cool choices too. Service a bitbLots of apps. to choose from, surely something for everyone. Yes Calamari was skimpy but the crispy tasty tempura flavor was so good you must try anyway (I guess?) The broiled oysters were delish! We loved the pork chop, and the blackened red fish entrees. Oh yeah nothing better than to finish off a great meal with the banana foster, and you can't beat the fresh donuts.

We had an awesome dining experience! Not only was the food delicious and flavorful, our experience was totally enhanced by the wonderful and engaging service we received from Deidre! BTW, I am not a big bread pudding fan, however based on Deidre’s recommendation, I tried it and thought I was dessert heaven! OMG, now that is something I will definitely have again there. I hope to have the same experience the next time we are there and encourage anyone visiting HH Island to dine here.

THIS RESTAURANT IS AMAZING!!!!! The service was amazing! The food was amazing!! Deidra is the best server ever!!! Blue crab claws were so good! Cesar salad had an interesting presentation but was delicious!!! The grouper, bread pudding, oysters are all amazing options!Deidra gave the best suggestions and had the most amazing energy! I really can’t recommend this restaurant enough!!!

Very Elegant white table cloth and menu:food mind blown ! They are very gluten safe and even have vegetarian and dessert GF options !! The raw oysters and lobster boil were the best we have ever had. Excellent service made it a truly memorable night (thank you Tash!)

Everything was on point. From the fantastic food, to the service and atmosphere. Had a wonderful Cajun Jambalaya.

T
Tod Coles

Wonderful experience. Beat salad was very large and very tasty. I had the blackened red fish which was excellent, and my wife had the scallops with risotto, also excellent. We ate in the bar with Dolan providing great recommendations and fantastic service. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the temperature in the bar area. It seemed like something wasn’t functioning properly. We would have stayed longer and had after dinner drinks and dessert, but it was too uncomfortable. Even Dolan was sweating behind the bar.

The resturant was very pretty.....service wa excellent from the front door greeter to Miles our server. Miles was very professional and friendly. The food was excellent....so many choices! Very relaxing. Definetly will be back!

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Seafood and desserts were phenomenal as well! Our server Kara was very kind and efficient. Will definitely come back here on our next visit to HH!

Fabulous meal. I had the scallops and my husband had the jambalaya. We shared the perfect beet salad (which was plated for us). Both entrees were generous portions and delicious. Wonderful wine selection Great warm bread with sweet butter. Lovely elegant, yet casual ambiance (not loud like some HH restauants can be), professional and delightful server Tashia. Even loved the very low-key Motown and light jazz background music. Perfect evening. A hidden gem, worth finding. We will be back!

We had dinner for the first time at Celeste and can not stop talking about it. Three of us had a variety of apps, entrees, desserts, and cocktails. Every dish was excellent, and the service, especially from Tash, was superior. Highly recommend!

I took my wife and parents here for dinner a few weeks ago and it was extraordinary. The steak the salmon the mini crab claws to start including the bread and butter was even good. The coastal Decor in the restaurant is beautiful. Highly recommend trying celeste. This is an amazing addition to the north end of the island.

If you’re here because you’re looking for a restaurant with great food, update to date decor and remarkable service…look no further! Celeste is a newer restaurant, and I think for that reason, maybe a bit of a hidden gem! It’s apparent that some thought went into the design of the interior- it is definitely a place that makes you want to order a drink and relax in the bar area. The menu is a great mix of choices that seems to offer something for everyone. It’s apparent that the team members are invested in making their guests feel comfortable and welcome. I am sorry that we waited so long to try it, but we will definitely be returning!

Even though there was a mix up in which server was assigned to our table, which resulted in us waiting, waiting and finally having to ask for service, I’d still give this new restaurant 5 stars! Our server was awesome- attentive, personable and went out of his way to overcome the initial mix up. Our group of 4 all had cocktails, appetizers, warm bread with honey butter, entrees and desserts, all of which were superb! This is a great new addition to the HHI restaurant scene and is right up there with the best of them. We’ll definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I went in for our 3 year anniversary and it was an absolutely amazing! We were seated in the Wine Room, and the privacy and look was spectacular. Our server, Tash, was prompt, professional, friendly, and truly made our experience even better. We ordered the broiled oysters and beef carpaccio, and they were divine, as well as the wedge salad which I was pleasantly surprised with. Our steaks were cooked great and the crème brûlée was the finish touch on an absolutely amazing evening. 10/10 recommend and will be back again! One of very few restaurants we have been to on Hilton Head that truly deserves a 5 star review!

Amazing roasted oysters, the fried green beans were out of this world! Scallops were cooked to perfection! The restaurant is so inviting and beautifully decorated in an understated manner. The wait staff wait were well trained and very pleasant. If you haven't been, you need to go!

L

The decor is so calm and soothing - well done. And it is not a loud restaurant! One where you are able to have a conversation - thank you! The food was delicious - the scallops and risotto was our favorite entree, and tuna stack and Cesar salad were our favorite starters. The Bananas Foster was a favorite too for a sweet. And great cocktails - great martini and Feench75. And our server Bridgette was so kind, thank you.

Tash did an excellent job as our waitress and was very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and speedy with food delivery and additional requests. We are locals and love celeste! We got the lobster boil and crab cakes and both were excellent and substantial portions and were well prepped. Atmosphere is very classy and relaxed with a nice intimate lighting and good for small and large parties! Highly recommend to all island visitors and locals alike!

Great experience during our first time here. We had a group of 6 and reservation was right on time. Appetizers (fried green tomatoes, calamari, grilled oysters) were all great. The menu is clear that the calamari is "steak cut" but it's definitely a thicker piece. Not a bad thing but just be aware. The grilled oysters were the star. I'm usually fine to eat oysters but don't usually get them unless someone else wants them but I'd actually go back specifically for these. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. Between our group we had people getting jambalaya, scallops, tuna, crab cakes, and salmon and everyone loved everything. Will definitely be back to this place next time in town. Service was a bit slow towards the end which was surprising since we were the second to last group there but everything else was outstanding.

M
Matthew Mudd

I've eaten at plenty of places on the island, and this was easily one of the best, we had a large group (13) and every single person at the table loved their food. The vibes were ideal, the service was quick, and the food was delicious.

R

Outstanding restaurant with nice menu and good accompanying wine list. I had the Pan Seared Cajun Grouper that was perfectly prepared and accompanied by sweet maple mashed potatoes. The service is great and the ambience is lovely. We were thrilled to meet Chef Ronni to complement him on his skills.

We had a reservation for a Bachelorette Party and everything was great! Several Party members have food allergies and the staff was incredibly accommodating in ensuring that everyone was taken care of. Our server was the sweetest. The food was top notch.

I frequent Celeste and always have a great experience but last night was extra special. The staff made sure that my best friend’s birthday dinner was one to remember. Rawn, the GM made sure the night was seamless. Tosh, our waitress was very kind and patient with our large party and Dolan, at the bar, mixed our cocktails to perfection. It’s safe to say Celeste offers the full experience!

R

We enjoyed dinner celebrating a birthday on Thursday July 11. Our servers name was Tosh. She did a great job of being on top of things yet not obtrusive. A real professional. Appetizers and entrées were all excellent and we had the blackened red fish, prime rib, and the jambalaya. Wonderful option for fine dining on the north end of the island. I should also mention they have an exceptional wine list. By the glass offerings are top notch.

We were greeted by a lovely gentleman and lady. Very friendly and welcoming. Our server, Tash/Tosh was more than lovely. She was knowledgeable, fun to talk to and recommended all of the specials. The special today sounded absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to go back and try whatever the special of the day will be next time, but today (on a whim) we were doing just a light soup dinner. This was the best soup I’ve ever had “in my whole entire life”. My mom had the gumbo which was phenomenal, and I chose the short rib soup (du jour). The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Definitely a five out of five. I will be telling everybody I know and going back for dinner soon. Thank you, Celeste!

We ate here last night. It's a great place to dine! We think our waitress name was Deidra (we're terrible at remembering names), and she was amazing! She had great energy and recommendations. We had the fried oysters, strip steak, pork chops, and crab cakes. All were delicious! My sons pork chops were cooked well. Creme brule and mousse cake was a hit as well.

First of all, I never leave reviews good or bad but, if you appreciate fine dining, then this is the place for you. The fair is exquisite! Our server Tash was absolutely amazing. The table staff was exceptional as well! THE VERY BEST ON TNE ISLAND! A bargain at any price. Can’t leave ten stars, but if I could I would.

What a fantastic restaurant for Hilton Head. Our waitress (Tash) was fantastic and she really knew what to recommend. She was able to accommodate our large group and was patient with us! Thanks to her, she made the night an absolute hit. The food was very good, I do think the cocktails could have been made slightly better but they were still decent. One small critique of the night was that we ordered 3 bottles of wine, 2 different types of red wine - it would have been nice if whoever was pouring the reds had asked which wine each person would prefer rather than use up all of 1 bottle. Overall we highly recommend Celeste with the phenomenal job they did. 5 stars no doubt

Went to Celeste for father’s day brunch. Had a great menu……. My wife had the sage sausage omelette, and I had a med rare filet with eggs and potato’s. It was absolutely delicious. Had the steak cut calamari as an appetizer. Very good. Highly recommend. Would give 10 stars if available.

Best food I have had in a while. My fiancée and I are very picky and this was way higher than our expectations. I had the ribeye and she had the scallops. 10/5 will be back here in the future

This was hands down the best dining experience we had in Hilton Head. Food was amazing, service was excellent, and the atmosphere/decor was very nice. If I make it back to HH I will definitely return.

My wife and I were Old Fort Pub lovers, unfortunately it is no longer there. Happily we found Celeste. The atmosphere was simple and dim exactly how we like it. The food and drinks were fabulous! Our waitress Deirdre made our first time experience even better. She was patient, kind, fun, and knowledgeable. She understood us! We highly recommend Celeste for a wonderful "fine dining experience"... exactly what we were looking for. We'll definitely be back! The strawberry birthday cake was a lovely surprise as it was presented! Much appreciated the great experience. Debbie and Stephen Colosimo

Really nice meal with friends. Good selection of classic cocktails plus some inventive additions. Nice wine selection. Food - oysters, crab soup, short rib, crab cakes, pork chop and fish - was all delicious & well presented. Service was good quality and friendly. Did ding them 1 * because they were a little slow for a quiet weeknight.

We had a fabulous meal. A very creative take on the trinity wedge and my gumbo soup was the best I ever had. My wife had the delicious diver scallops with lemon risotto and crabmeat salad and I enjoyed the savory blackened red fish with crab etouffee with gouda stone ground grits. The desserts, chocolate mouse pie and key lime pie were fresh and delectable. Our server Nadia was excellent and we were very impressed with the very warm and attractive restaurant ambiance and the very comfortable soft leather chairs. This was our first visit and now on our list of must do HHI restaurants. Rudy & Susan Jones

Lovely spot for a nice relaxing atmosphere and truly exquisite cuisine! Highly recommend having the crab cakes, they are sumptuous! We ordered an appetizer, however the complimentary bread basket was even better!

I have multiple comments mostly positive. Please keep in mind I visited on their 2nd day. The food was top notch quality with excellent flavors. Service was excellent. The bar area was sizable with good ambiance. I enjoyed the restaurant area and the background music was good This restaurant is presenting itself as a high end establishment. The butter was served frozen with our bread. The 2nd loaf of bread while warm had burned crust. The bathrooms only had one soap dispenser for two sinks. The serving sizes of the food very very small. Keep in mind though that this is day 2 and inflation is at 9% for a new business In summary the service was good and the food excellent. I would try again, but would hope they can work on their serving sizes. I ate the jambalaya. It had 4 huge shrimp. I would have expected more sausage and serving size was the smallest jambalaya I’ve ever had. The fried calamari was fantastic, but a pitiful serving size. The banana foster was good.

This is a brand new place in Hilton Head. It’s clear that they are trying to be a fine dining establishment in HHI. I visited tonight on their third week of being open. It was a Thursday night and they seemed pretty slammed though I was able to be seated immediately as I was just 1 person and the seated me in the bar in a high top table. It was about 6:45 on a Thursday night. I applaud them for being as together as they were for just being open 3 weeks. I waited a long time for my beverage as I was seated in the bar section but at a table. The people who sat at the bar not in the bar section were getting their food and beverages quicker. My first course an apple cider vinegar salad with manchengo cheese was very good but had a bit more dressing than I would like. The dressing was a light apple cider vinaigrette so it wasn’t terrible that it was a little overdressed for my liking. The scallops with crab risotto were very good but extremely rich and I really didn’t determine any crab in my risotto. I did encounter an extremely hard couple of pieces of bacon in my risotto. I enjoyed the taste but a couple pieces were so hard I thought they might break my teeth. Overall this place has a lot of potential and I’m looking forward to when they get all the kinks worked out when they are busy. This is definitely one to look out for and consider in HHI

Although I think this is an excellent resturant I was very disappointed that there was an up-charge to subsitute string beans for asparagus. Then the string beans were served hardly cooked. I could understand if you went from a lower cost item to a higher priced item, but this just seems like a nickel and dime charge from what is an upper scale resturant that you would not except this from.

Had dinner for 2 at Celeste last night and it was truly a mixed bag. The atmosphere was delightful. Our drinks were excellent to awful. The special pear martini was the excellent but my old fashioned was the awful. The bartender put in large fruit but did not muddle it so the drink tasted like straight bourbon with a whole cherry and whole orange wedge added. Appetizers - calamari and a wedge salad were excellent. Entrees were disappointing. They brought me some replacement food some of my main so bad. My scallops were watery and tasteless and the crab cakes contained no lump crab. The service was OK. $180 bill and not worth it with the mixed bag of the dishes/cocktails. The diner next to us had bread pudding and it looked awesome. There are many better restaurants on HHI.

My wife & I have been here twice now. The first dinner was amazing. Top quality food, wonderful atmosphere, & impeccable service. We had thought we found a new restaurant in the Island that was going to be a rising star & compete as one of the best restaurants on the island. However, the second dinner was quite a different story. Though the food was still wonderful, the service was absolutely horrible. Our server was pleasant & likeable but had no business (At this time) working in a high end restaurant. I don't know if she was new, lacked training, or just nervous but it made our second experience at this establishment memorable also. Just not in a good way. We honestly can not recommend Celeste anymore because we don't know what the service will be. We have had two opposite ends of the spectrum.

C
Craig Edelson

Food was wonderful, the restaurant was beautiful and inviting and the gentleman at the front was warm and welcoming. Service was just bad. I would have rather ordered from one of those McDonald's kiosks. They completely forgot my salad, our server never asked if we wanted another round of drinks and she brought us bread after our appetizers came out. The fried green tomatoes were excellent and my steak was perfect. Props to the chef. Minus 2 stars due to the service alone.

P
Peter McDermott

We have been going here for years and were looking forward to it but were sorely disappointed tonight. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy (but not dead) for a Sunday night, however, there were only two servers working the dining room. One of the members in our party ordered a dirty martini which was half filled with muddled olives which was very odd and unappetizing. I ordered the mussels special as an appetizer and was disappointed that they were foul and mostly unopened. I supposed the chef was trying to clear out the spoiled stock... The lobster, which is usually terrific was served shelled, incredibly overcooked and missing the knuckles, one of the most succulent bits. It was served with a claw cracker and a seafood fork which was unnecessary because it had already been shelled and prepared. Not only was it overcooked, but overseasoned and served in a mound of risotto that was incredibly overseasoned and just not "right," especially with the lobster. Another member of our party had the crab cakes which were usually full of crab, but this time full of breading. Very disappointing. Service was abysmal, but our waiter acknowledged it and was kind and understanding of our feedback. Redemption? Not quite, but I'll admit the desserts (cooked by a local pastry chef) were on point. For a $500 meal, this was full of disappointment and I'll likely spend my money elsewhere during my next visit. I'm giving two stars because I know it can be better, because it has been in the past.

I have debated whether or not to write a review about Celeste for some time, but after my birthday brunch this past Sunday I decided to pull the trigger. Very simply brunch was a disaster! I will say that our server was very nice and kind, but the service was terrible. Technically it was not her fault on our order, but she did not help by following up and noticing that 45 minutes had passed without our food (story to follow). My wife and I were with another couple so the time wasn't lost, but the dining experience was not good. They have even offered to take me out again to a different restaurant for my birthday as a redo because it was so bad. My friend and I ordered eggs benedict for brunch. When they arrived it was basically hard boiled eggs on top of English muffins. I had the crab cakes benedict and it came with out the remoulade sauce. I apologized to our server, but requested new eggs for my friend and I. She was kind and quickly obliged. We waited 45 minutes (yes, 45 minutes) for new eggs benedict. I asked the server twice to check on it. She made no progress. Finally I flagged down the manager and expressed our situation. Plates arrived very quickly with an apology. Both were lukewarm. Mine had remoulade sauce but no toast. My friend had toast but no remoulade. We decided not to mention the oversights. The manager comped the two entrees which was appreciated. I wouldn't write this but this is now the 3rd negative food experience at Celeste. Twice previously my fish was so overcooked it was ruined. I just don't trust the kitchen. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Lots of our friends love it, but my wife and I just haven't had good luck. The birthday brunch tipped the scale. Too bad because it is near us on the north end of the island.

C
Christopher Sloan

The service is so incredibly slow that it is unbearable to think of returning. There were only 4 tables eating here and it still somehow took over 45 minutes to take our appetizer order, 30 minutes to get our check, and over 2 hours total from start to finish. The food was pretty good but definitely not worth the wait. Also, skip the cocktails. They were watered down and tasteless.

Thanksgiving dinner was a reservation for 2023. However, three days before Thanksgiving, Celeste called saynig the dinner was cancelled. We have dined often at Celeste. The first greeter at the door was welcoming, and distinctive, with a different, large, funky colorful bow tie. The current guy needs a guest relations course.OK. Thanksgiving 2024. Reservation at 6:30PM. Arrive on time. We were seated without any of the usual niceities. Ordered wine. Waiter acknowledged my wife's request for dark meat, also known as the thigh portion. He said not sure they had had dark meat left but he' d do his best. Bread plates on table. Asked for bread. No bread. Ovens neded to cook turkeys. Alarm. Shared Caesar salad- good. Now imagine a large plate over stuffed with turkey and side dishes. Sorry, your imagination is too good. First, the portions were small. The four slices of white turkey meat were identical. They over lapped on the plate and were equally thick and identically sized. Not from a carved turkey but a butcher case at Publix. The dark meat was a thigh that was impossible to cut with a steak knife. We pointed out these "small" descripencies to the waiter. He said he'd tell the kitchen. Then there was the graham cracker crust pumpkin pie. The crust, like the pumpkin part, was out of a box. No graham cracker crumbs were found. Disappointed? Yes! But then the "seater" tolds us we always complaining and our complaints were not reasonable then citing the numbers of covers Celeste had for the day. Well one of my faults is I don't know how to argue tactfully. The "seater" got hot and ended by telling us never to come back. That he'd put us on a list and give it to the owner. OK, I told you I was not on the debate team. So, we wasted an evening and $84 plus wine plus tip and even got ourselves bannned from Celeste by the seater. I keep referring to him as the "seater" because I believe his talent is seating guests...no more! From the dinners reviews I've read it was not a smooth evening for the seater.

S
Susan Bailey-Carman

Service was slow. We were a party of 4, and 2 other tables who were seated after us (sitting 5 and 6) were taken care of first. I think our server wanted us to order more drinks. Food was so, so.
