Hiouchi Cafe is a gem! The portions are huge and satisfying—come hungry because you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that makes it perfect for a relaxed meal or a quick bite with friends. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering how generous the plates are. Shoutout to Alicia for exceptional service—friendly, attentive, and on top of every detail from the moment we walked in. She made great suggestions and checked in just the right amount. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Great stop!! Definitely a must 10/10 A++ Hot coffee and hot chocolate! Great service great staff great food! Delicious well portioned! Fast and accurate! Only downside was it was a little pricey but what isn't these days. Thank you for a great experience!!

This little café was awesome! The food was delicious. I got a breakfast burrito to go as well, and it was the size of my forearm! It was so good! The atmosphere was comfortable and airy. The service was sincere and wonderful. The price was average to slightly below average. I would eat here every day if I lived nearby!

We eat here every time we visit-- it's a part of our vacation we look forward to. Omelets are perfect: eggs not too dry and not too wet, vegetables are flavorful. Bananas foster French toast is delicious. Pancakes are awesome. Service is exceptional, even during peak hours. Wonderful place!

Great vintage diner. Clean, friendly service, basic but good food. Our bowl of chili and BLT were fine. There is a large sign at the cash register making quite a statement about credit card fees and asking customers to pay cash. A lot of places add a surcharge for credit card sales. Not sure why this place felt it had to make a big deal out of credit card fees.

Aug 2025 We ate one diner here and got a takeout breakfast the next morning. The dinner was excellent, and the staff friendly. We needed a quick breakfast the next morning. We arrived a bit before they were scheduled to open. We were invited to come in and have a cup of coffee while they got things going. We let them know that we were going to order a couple of breakfast burritos to go as we were in a bit of a time crunch. They said coming right up, and they did so with a smile. Many thanks to everyone for going out of their way for us! The burritos were to die for, they were big and very tasty. We were so hungry that we consumed them before we remembered to photo them. Cafe is owned by the same people as the Hotel next door.

Favorite place to eat when I'm in the area! Location: Hiouchi is in the middle of the Redwoods. Literally smack dab in the middle, it's amazing Service: the owners and the staff are always attentive - even when it's slammed on a Saturday rush Food: AMAZING. The ONLY biscuits and gravy that I'll eat west of the Mississippi - be aware the portions are HUGE, so a half order is a normal size portion lol. I usually will get that or the chicken fried steak for breakfast, but this last time I splurged on the smothered breakfast burrito and holy smokes it was good. So recommending that too. And yes, my son has eaten the ginormous pancake. Also delicious if not frighteningly large. Definitely the place to go for breakfast when you are in Del Norte County!

So good. I had read that the Cuban sandwich was great, but I did not quite believe it since I have had some amazing Cubans while I lived in Florida. But I was impressed. Excellent Cuban. Nice and cozy place to eat.

Went on a Sunday around 11am. Party of 4. I was surprised that it only took 10min to be seated with all the people around. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Cute place and very pleasant staff. Food was good. Chicken fried steak was good but a little burnt. Pancakes were perfect.

Really nice place for lunch - the fries were great and the turkey wrap was also really nice (very big!). Chicken fried steak was also really good. Fast food, good service and lovely staff

Good service very friendly and food came out extremely fast. That being said the food was mediocre at best and nothing special and If a restraint doesn't stand out as special I generally don't go back. But not bad if u looking for an average dinner with above average service.
