Where do I start!!!! If I could give this place more than 5 stars I most definitely would. We started off with the crawfish fritters, the fried green tomatoes and the jalapeno cornbread. The crawfish fritters were good but the fried green tomatoes were out the ballpark delicious. So good we ordered a to go order. The jalapeno cornbread has the perfect crust and a super moist inside and was accompanied by both a sweet and savory butter. Now I am not a huge gumbo fan (because of the okra) however, their gumbo is so perfectly prepped you don't even know it exists. Moving on to the service. We had Joe as our server. I can't say enough about how excellent our service was. He was friendly, knowledgeable and most of all passionately service full!!!

They have an excellent vegan dinner and dessert menu - just phenomenal! Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. It's a bit out of the way location wise, but worth it for a nice date night!

This was my first time dining here, my sister had been here before and this was her recommendation. Now it will be my recommendation, seriously. Our wait staff Ozzie was insightful with the good recommendations for me because I'm not a spicy eater. I was debating between the boil or the pasta dishes. He suggested the shrimp boil and that it would be on the garlicky side. What a treat for a garlic lover, there were whole cloves in the boil. Happy Dance!!!

I came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday. They have complimentary Valet. The atmosphere is pretty, I took plenty of birthday photos. We did not have to wait long, HOWEVER, I STRONGLY suggest having reservations because its a very popular restaurant. The customer service was top tier from the hostess to the server. Our waiter OZ was very helpful in helping us decide on what to order. I had an Espresso Martini, the Red Snapper and crawfish etouffee, fried green tomatoes, and cornbread. The food and drinks were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Everyone enjoyed their food. I got a birthday card and beignets. I will definitely be going back.

Love the atmosphere, food was amazing and it’s all New Orleans style and I love it. Would recommend attending as a date night please make reservations in advance. I recommend the Gumbo

Highly recommended if you want a fine dining experience in a beautiful setting with delicious food. We all got dinners and split a seafood gumbo and beet salad. The salad was a meal in itself. All 4 of us tried a little. Gumbo was spicy and seasoned perfectly. I was surprised at how big the portions of food were. I expected them to be overpriced and not filling but they were very good sized portions. You can’t get these menu items elsewhere so if you like spicy cajun foods this is a must. We will definitely return.

This was my first time visiting this place and I was beyond impressed. They have a Nola vibe and everything that crossed our table tasted amazing. The service was beautiful. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. The managers all walked around and greeted everyone and women at the front desk were very approachable. I can’t wait to come back and try something else on their menu.

Loved everything about this place. For starters they do have voluntary valet that is complimentary. All the staff from the moment we walked in were very friendly and attentive. The drinks were so good so shootout to the bartender. I ordered the fried oysters with the bacon it wasn't what I expected but they were good. There was a slaw that came with it, I wasn't to fond of it. We also ordered the crab cake and cornbread. The crab cake was about the size of the appetizer plate about 1/2 in thick and it was so flavorful. It was my fav and now go to appetizer. The cornbread was really good. Nice and crispy edges but soft and flavorful I actually like the jalapeño kick. Im not really into corn in my cornbread but thats my preference. It also came with a cheesecream spread and cinnamon butter spread both were good with the cornbread. I ordered the blackened fish with the Cajun rice and greens. 10/10 no complaints! My party had the jambalaya which they loved as well. Definitely will be back!

An absolute gem! Maple Tree Inn is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale, with a Southern charm that makes you feel right at home. The food is incredible — rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The gumbo and jambalaya are standouts, and the cornbread is a must-try! Every dish had the perfect balance of spice and soul. The cocktails are creative and well-balanced, and the service was top-tier — attentive without being overbearing. You can tell the team here really cares about creating a memorable experience. Whether you’re coming for a casual night out or a special occasion, Maple Tree Inn never disappoints. We’ll definitely be back! Dion (D) Sanders The Sanders Family

Maple Tree Inn is one of our favorites! The food is always delicious from start to finish, and they even have great vegan options. Our son and his wife come in from Missouri and never miss a visit here. Gina was our server today and she was fabulous—friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience at this place! The service was wonderful, and I was pleasantly surprised that the serving staff spoke Spanish too. Really good variety of cocktails and drinks. The menu is small but the dishes are really hearty with good portions. While a bit more on the expensive side, the quality of the food is really good. The cornbread was amazing, and one 8-inch skillet was enough for our group of seven. The only dish that was missing something is the trout, which lacked a bold flavor. Otherwise everything was very yummy and I would recommend visiting!

We've been here a couple times already and both times do not disappoint! We occasionally have cravings for creole food so we're so glad to have this spot nearby. First, the decor is a little odd. I'd say it doesn't really scream creole restaurant but I think it used to be a different type of restaurant before they took over. Either way not a big deal. Just thought it was funny. Service is great. They have servers making rounds so there's always someone to flag down if you need anything. Waters is always filled as well and my waiters were attentive. Food is just amazing. Very flavorful and a good spice to them. I've never been to Louisiana but I would assume the food here is comparable. Overall a great restaurant and highly recommend!

Maple tree Inn was amazing. Located in Homewood, IL. Celebrating my sister’s birthday we chose the perfect spot! The establishment was such a cute and cozy spot. Very intimate atmosphere. A vibe for any occasion. Maple Tree Inn menu are Cajun/Creolé cuisines. So much flavors and a southern culture. You will not regret! We ordered the Double Roasted Beet Salad and the cornbread skillet for starters which both dishes were fresh and full of flavors. And for our entrees we ordered the “BLACKENED REDFISH ÉTOUFFÉE: Red snapper served blackened, set over white rice and topped with our famous Crawfish Étouffée; served with braised collard greens. Collard greens definitely had a spicy flavor but still blended so well entirely. Also ordered the BURNT ENDS which consisted of a half-pound of 14 hr. slow-smoked beef brisket, cubed, topped with ancho molasses BBQ sauce, then braised and caramelized; served with smothered okra and horseradish & gouda cheese grits. This was my favorite dish with all the umami flavors you couldn’t resist the dish! And for drinks we had the hurricane & Creole Voodoo Zombie. Both drinks were sooooo good! Made just right! Our server named was Aziel. He was phenomenal! He had a great personality, mannerisms, very attentive and if multitasking was a person! He was our bartender & server and did the job well and with such grace! He made great suggestions and made my first time and sister’s birthday a wonderful experience! Take for the pic! Beignets for cake any day! This spot is a must! Check em out!

We went for our anniversary, a spur of the moment choice. We went at 2:30 and it was already filling up but we didn't wait long they have a dedicated vegan menu with plenty of choices, and a gluten-free menu. I ordered off the vegan menu and everything was amazing. My husband ordered off the regular menu and also everything was amazing. We ended up taking a lot home because there was so much food. Our server surprised us with a vegan cinnamon cake peach cobbler for an anniversary which was delicious. We will definitely go back here and it was well worth the trip.

We've been waiting years to eat here! Came in with my family for my husband's birthday. The service was exemplary. The food was incredible. Worth the wait. Make sure you make a reservation! This place is popular for a reason!

New Orleans meets Soul Food meets good ole hearty eating 😊 Amazing dining experience! From the professional staff, to great customer service from our waiter (Adam), to the ambiance of candlelight dining w/ appealing music( all instrumental), to the soft lighting, to the VIP vibe (make reservations) and exquisite delicacies! Everything was A++. We started off w/ some appetizers of fried green tomatoes, pecan crusted crab cakes, and fried clams (not pictured) & added gumbo just to taste. Very intricate flavors yet still homey. 😊. Entrees consisted of Red Snapper etoufee w/ collard green topping. Added a side of garlic mash. Also fried southern catfish w/ a side of Mac n cheese and cast iron cooked corn bread! The flavors and seasoning reminded me of Sunday dinners after church!! The plates came with so much food!! Finished it off w/ a bread pudding banana pudding dessert that was to die for! ❤️ Can’t wait to return. This is a 5 STAR ⭐️ 🌟✨⭐️💫 restaurant. A little pricey but definitely worth it if you want a fine dining experience

Delicious food and attentive service. Everything came hot out of the kitchen and maintained hot/warm temperature throughout the course of the meal. I mean this is truly one of my favorite places to dine. Highly recommend. My only suggestion is to replace the lettuce in the beet salad with a heartier green like kale or spring mix. Really elevate the dish.

Top to bottom, one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. FINALLY, a place where the price matches the quality of the food. Every. Single. Dish was PHENOMENAL! Our waiter (Aziel) was absolutely incredible. I was torn between two dishes to choose from, so I left it in his hands, and he picked the Hickory Buttered BBQ shrimp. Granted that it was the perfect portion size, I wanted more. The drinks are outstanding. Atmosphere is a mix of cozy and lively. They even have a complimentary valet service! This place seriously lacked nothing. 10/10! If I lived closer to the area, I would absolutely make this a regular dinner spot.

This place is so good. I've been living in my neighborhood for 3yrs and visit restaurant's right near it but never did stop in until recently. Beautiful inside, option for patio dining, delicious food, and great service, even free valet service. We had fried green tomatoes which personally I like my own better but it wasn't bad at all, then a red snapper dish over ride and some type of crawfish soup/sauce and greens... Very delicious. The fried chicken and Mac was very good as well, my vegetarian daughter liked her meal as well, they have a vegan menu. Also my drink..... Wish it wasn't even alcohol it was so good I'd drink it all day lol. It's called "mind control" very good. I'll definitely be going back.

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. Food, service and drinks were all excellent! Our server Joe was very helpful with all of our questions. I would say this place is a 10 out of 10 I would highly recommend!!! Make sure to grab the alligator Cheesecake 😋

Celebrated my birthday with dinner on the patio. We arrived a little ahead of our reservation and were seated right away. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The menu had changed since the last time I was there [no more lamb medallions which is what I came for]. However, our server was perfect making suggestions for food accommodations. Everything we ordered was delicious. I left happy and full😊.

Our meal last night was absolutely incredible!!! We had excellent Service as well. We had the Oysters Rockefeller plus the brussel sprouts which were super smoky! My husband got the double smoked pork chop, he was completely in heaven with it! And I got the red snapper with crawfish and collard greens, absolutely delicious! Finished with sweet potato cheesecake, that was an amazing finish as well. Our cocktails were excellent also. All around fabulous!

Before writing this review, I’ve actually attended Maple Tree Inn three times. Each visit has the same great service, food and experience. Originally Maple Tree Inn was in Blue Island near the Cal-Sag Channel at the intersection of Old Western and Canal Street. In 2015, the hubby and I went there for a couple’s date night and I recalled the Cajun-Creole style food was amazing. The restaurant had been there since 1975, but a fire erupted in 2018, forcing the restaurant to close it’s doors. The Maple Tree Inn entertained guests in a temporary Blue Island location before opening it’s newest location during 2020 in Homewood. I’ve visited the Homewood location and the dining area, music, service and food are outstanding. If I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular guest!!!

The lighting and music is so good here. It was previously a breakfast restaurant but I love the current place. The hours are limited 5pm-9pm, so you HAVE to make reservations!!! You can call or go on the website they provide to make reservations. They have a bar and the bartender is awesome. She makes the best drinks. Not just someone off the streets she is well educated in what she does. The food is ok, ALL Cajun style. They have a shrimp and grits that pretty good.My favorite dish was the bananas foster bread pudding. This dish was THE BEST dessert I've ever had in my life. They have complementary valet. You can dress up or down. Its a nice place for a romantic date.

Maple Tree Inn is a gem located in the south suburbs of Chicago! We’ve been there several times and never have been disappointed. The burnt ends was good as well as the fried chicken and macaroni. The skillet cornbread is a must have! Great drink options as well.

My husband and I visited the Maple Tree inn one Sunday a few months ago! We absolutely loved everything we had! The fried green tomatoes were our favorite! I had the fried chicken and he had the Shrimp Etoufe! I finished my meal with a Key lime pie and espresso martini. Definitely a gem in the South Suburban area! I can’t wait to go back again.

Maple Tree Inn never disappoints. We go once to twice a year and the food is always good! We ordered the bourbon roasted oysters and the brussel sprouts with our 4 dinners and shared 2 desserts. We enjoyed everything.

This place is THE BEST for New Orleans favorite Dishes and cocktails. The owners and staff take great care in making each customer have a great experience. The Cajun/Creole/Southern specialties are all delicious and highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner experience at the Maple tree inn. I did take one star off for atmosphere because if you're seated near the front door, You will be chilly. For the appetizer we had the fried green tomatoes, they were delicious. For entree I had the fried chicken I did leave off the gravy because it is pork based. The entree was again delicious and for dessert I had to beignets. There was not a lot of flavor to them but they were good. Overall a great experience delicious food and an attentive staff. I do recommend and I will go again. I'll definitely bring a sweater next time though.

Went for my 21st birthday with my parents and girlfriend. We got the bourbon oysters, cornbread, fried green tomatoes and the crab mornay. The oysters were the best i’ve ever had, completely melt in your mouth and the moray was to die for. For my entre I got the crawfish etouffe which has the perfect amount of spice after adding their signature hot sauce. The rest of the table got the fried chicken, jambalaya and the bbq shrimp. the chicken tasted like an extremely elevated popeyes chicken (in the best way possible as they are my favorite chicken) and all of the fish/meat was cooked PERFECTLY. Not rubbery or dry at all, i was thoroughly impressed. The mac and cheese was good but didn’t blow me away, same with the beignets (would’ve been nice to have honey or some kind of drizzle with it). The bundt cake, however, was phenomenal. The service was impeccable, the attention to detail was apparent (our server would pick up crumbs off of the table with his hands swiftly and all plates were collected promptly. The cocktails were great as well, the mixologist is a genius. i can’t wait to come back, i normally go to the same place every year for my birthday but i think i have a new favorite.

Had a late lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. I've eaten here before, so I knew what to expect. I expected a great atmosphere. Jazz playing in the background, nicely decorated. I expected the service to be good and it was. Our waiter was very attentive and if ever he got delayed in coming to our table, there were others waiting to fill in the gap. I expected good food and yes it was! I had the Surf and Turf Thibodaux (a pasta dish). We thought they forgot the bacon, but it is very thickly sliced. 🤣 not the bacon you'd cook at home. The dish was quite tasty. I ordered a beet salad and a slice of sweet potato cheesecake to go. The cheesecake was amazing. The salad was not what I expected. Considering the most inexpensive thing you can get at a restaurant is lettuce, the other ingredients need to be over the top. It would have been more flavorful if the beets were pickled, but that's just my choice. It says roasted, but the beets were flavorless. They supplied one small container of the balsamic dressing, which was not enough. This then brings me to my last expectation... cost. Though the atmosphere is good and the service is great, the food does not make up for the price which I feel is a little expensive. The Surf and Turf Thibodaux was thirty two dollars. The salad and the cheesecake that I purchased for later was thirty dollars! Salad aside, I have to again say that I enjoyed the meal... just not the prices.

Food was really good. I recommend the burnt ends and Mac & cheese. I wish they gave a other option besides thighs for the fried chicken but my mom enjoyed it. I know it's a creole/Cajun inspired restaurant but I do wish that everything wasn't so spicy. I wanted to get the cornbread but it has jalapeños. Not pictured is the gumbo which is nice but too spicy for me.

T
Traci Simmons

Attractive casual atmosphere which could serve as a slightly fine-dining experience if you wanted it to. Not an overwhelming number of menu choices, but a great variety. The Mac and Cheese was very, very good, as was the Surf and Turf Pasta, Beet Salad, and Fried Chicken. The catfish wasn't spicy at all (and I don't do spicy), and surprisingly didn't have much flavor. My husband said the Gumbo was good. Definitely give this place a try! The food was absolutely worth the trip. In terms of price, it was overpriced as is every restaurant these days, but not to a ridiculous point. We will definitely be back!

Update for August 2025. Celebrating our anniversary. You've got to try to gumbo the one with the brisket chicken and all that good stuff in it . I also had the ribeye. Let me tell you when I cook ribeye, it is going on. I'm sorry but your ribeye did not hit the mark with me. The most expensive thing on the menu was not up to par. Also, I need to say this for people who are going there to eat the chicken. If you have an allergy with shrimp or any seafood they use the same oil. What they shocked me when they told me that. Why tell me why? Why isn't the chicken cooked in separate all than the seafood? That's why my food score went down from 5 to 3. This is another review celebrating my birthday here was the right choice. We had cornbread for starters. It was hot, and delicious. I had the burnt ends with fried cabbage, and grits. My husband had the humongous double port chop with bread putting, and a delicious slaw that included sweet potatoes. Everything was delicious. I received beignets for being the birthday girl. They are on the dessert menu including a sweet potato cheesecake and banana pudding which sounded delicious, but I could not eat anything else. I enjoyed my birthday dinner. Please make reservations.

Emily was a wonderful bartender and server. Recommend the crab cake and seafood gumbo. The fried chicken is delicious but don't care for the sweet gravy that comes with it. The Brown Butter Blondie is AMAZING!!! not a dessert guy, but would get it again.

My friends Levi & Lauren surprised me for my birthday and the food at your place was awesome! Great ambiance. The shrimp and grits was amazing! Not to spicy it was perfect. Kudos to the chef. I do wish they would have given us a complementary birthday dessert

Food needed a little seasoning. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. Food was fresh. We ordered pitmasters gumbo, roasted beet salad, fried green tomatoes, greens, mac & cheese, gouda grits, & reddish etouffe. I liked the gumbo the best.

Yesterday I went on a date at Maple Tree inn. My overall experience was good. My drink of choice was the “Hurricane” it was pretty good, a little different than the one i had in New Orleans. For starters the cast iron cornbread, it was disappointing. The cinnamon topping was good though. The Hickory Buttered BBQ shrimp & Grits was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 literally and figuratively. My date ordered the Brussel Sprouts, and her entree was Fried Catfish. The waiter name was Gage, he was attentive and took good care of us.

K

Maple Tree Inn was recommended to me by my brother. Since we have friends that live near, why not make it a date. We arrived to complimentary valet service, which was nice & unexpected. We were seated immediately. I love that since most restaurants make you wait until the entire party arrived before you’re seated. Once we were all seated, our server was prompt & attentive to our needs while we dined. He was also versed enough with the menu that he was able to make suggestions to the menu. My food (redfish etoufee) was good but a touch bland. I was expecting spicy food. Not so much, but it was good. The burndt ends were good. The BBQ shrimp was tasty. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo, but was surprised by the small portion. I tires their Oysters Rockefeller. It wasn’t bad. The cornbread is a must. The drinks were great. The strawberry jalapeño Margarita it’s recommended. All in all, I would like to return to try other things on the menu. I did appreciate the smaller menu. It’s not like Pappadeux overwhelming menu.

Appetizers(oysters and fried green tomatoes) and cocktails were SO good but then the entrees felt mediocre and lacking. Overall good, the service was so good and the establishment itself is gorgeous and cozy. Raspberry cheesecake was disappointing.

I will start with the good first. This restaurant has great ambiance and the service is stellar and I mean STELLAR. If the food matched the service people would be standing outside the door. I mean I don’t know anywhere you can get this kind of service. I have been to this restaurant 3 weeks in a row and each time the food got worse. The first time I ordered catfish, macaroni, and gumbo. Second time I order Chicken thighs, macaroni, cornbread, catfish, and bread pudding. Third time I order shrimp and grits, spare ribs and mash potatoes, cornbread, burnt ends, cabbage. Each time I orders the gumbo, it’s just ok I don’t think it should be called gumbo at all. I truly don’t feel like the food is really Cajun flavored but that’s my take. The bread pudding is stellar as well as the catfish. Also the shrimp dish is relishes. Every thing else was really not good. The brunt ends were dry hard, had no flavor, and taste of they had been previously cooked. The grits are just ok they are lacking a rouge and a little bit of flavor, maybe they should be topped with cheese and scallions. The spareribs were tough as nails. The macaroni is ok. Whatever you do please do not order a side of catfish the price is ridiculous for they bring out. The chicken thighs probably would have been good if I didn’t have a piece of gristle and that was it for me. The drinks look pretty haven’t tried one.

I look forward to their beer salad and Brussels . It’s a hit every single time except tonight when I visited . Has to be a new chef , the food has never been subpar before tonight ! Thankfully my mom enjoyed her meal .. she had the Blackened Ribeye , Fried Green Tomatoes, Bbq shrimp appetizer and the Malbec with her meal . She loved it ! I was disappointed with mines . I hadn’t been in a while and didn’t read the menu thinking things would be like always . That was my fault so I didn’t complain . I’ll truly miss both dishes.

My first time there. For all the hype and build up along with time limits on reservations; and eating: 1 hour 45 minutes, I was not impressed. The online menu had not been updated. So my dream of ordering the Barbecue rib dinner was squashed when it wasn't on the menu or served anymore. So, I ordered the cat fish dinner. The rice and Cole slaw were awful or not tasteful The fried cat fish fillays were satisfactory but not meaty like in cat fish steaks. I ordered collared greens that were good, but to spicy. In order to make the cat fish dinner more pleasant I would've had to order more expensive sides; for example: mac& cheese, traditional Cole slaw etc. Parking was awful. But, a short half block away was a lot they offer was available and had ample parking. I will not go to Maple Tree again. I did it for the nuance and a date with a woman. I've had better cat fish at your basic fish restaurants drive thrus. Not having the rib dinner and not updating the online menu and finding out while actually there was forever disappointing for me. I want forget that.

Arrived to my reservation on time. There is complimentary parking. When we arrived check in was overflowing, which was a bad sign. It took over 30 minutes for us to be seated. I have an issue with that simply because the restaurant retains your card in the event that you do not show for a reservation, and gives a 15 minutes grace period, on top of a time limit to eat, but waiting 30 minutes after having a reservation is overlooked. The staff at check in provided no updates nor clarity. Once we were seated, the host was great and attentive. The drinks were great. My only issue with the food was the fried chicken were chicken breasts. I also wish the Brussels were crispy, but they tasted boiled. Other than that, the food was good. I really loved the grits and the green spinach topping that was on the chicken. I’ve been wanting to try this place for the last few years.

Average food. Nothing crazy good. Everything was mid. Service was exceptional and the vibe was cool. Mixed crowd, safe environment. I can see how this place could be super tasty to individuals who don't particularly over season their food regularly. But to US, mid, made better gumbo and shrimp at home. Shrimp and grits also.

R

I always enjoy the ambiance and service here, but as far as the affordable gluten free options, not as much. I was SO disappointed with these ribs... they were dry, and did not fall off the bone (not even close!), and the BBQ sauce was just average tasting. The coleslaw was plain and sour and didn't taste fresh. The only part of the dinner I enjoyed was the delicious garlic mashed potatoes, which I always enjoy. Honestly, I usually only order their GF sides, except for occasionally getting their beet salad, which is always good. Another couple times I ordered their short ribs, which were also not that good. I guess I should just avoid their ribs in general, but I keep hoping they will be improved! The reason I didn't tell my waiter about this is because I was with a neighbor/friend, and I didn't want to ruin the dinner or atmosphere. I took the leftovers and reheated/cooked them in a crockpot on low with a little water and Stubb's BBQ sauce, and I was able to salvage them, and not waste food, or my money.
