Cute spot in Homewood. Food was super tasty. Spicy Coconut soup was fire! Had the crispy rice app and it was the best in town. Will be back soon! Super friendly staff! Go during happy hour!
Really loved the food! We got the spring rolls (8/10), curry pot stickers (10/10), Cash Me Out roll (10/10) and Volcano Roll (9/10). Would highly recommend!
Usually a lot of Asian restaurants have 1 or 2 things that they do really well and the rest is just ok. However, Shiki Birmingham was amazing in everything that I tried! Spicy Tuna Tartar: Delicious Indonesian Ramen: Top 3 Ramen of all time! Kamikaze and So Fresh So Clean Roll: Phenomenal Atmosphere was nice as well. Please give them a try, because you will be happy you did!
Shiki is definitely a hidden gem in Homewood, and the fact that it is halal makes it even better. The seating area is comfortable and has a calm vibe that makes it easy to enjoy your meal. I started with the spring rolls and the shrimp tempura. The spring rolls came out hot and fresh with a sauce that matched them perfectly. The shrimp tempura had a light, crisp batter and came with a mayo based sauce that worked really well with the shrimp. I also ordered sushi, and it was very good and fresh. The rice had the right texture, the fish was clean tasting, and everything was put together with care. For my main dishes I ordered the Penang chicken curry and the lamb chops. The curry had great flavor and a good level of heat without being overwhelming. The lamb chops were the surprise highlight. The crust had amazing seasoning and the meat was fresh, tender, and not gammy at all. I usually avoid lamb unless it is very fresh, and this was cooked and sauced perfectly. Overall Shiki is a great halal spot in Homewood that deserves more attention. The food is fresh, the flavors are strong, and the entire experience was enjoyable.
On a cloudy Tuesday evening I was cruising the avenues of homewood. My body was famished, and sustenance was on my mind. I had all but given up my search for a meal when I saw a review by a local guide legend; Omar Abdelaziz came to the rescue and recommended this fine establishment. Eating the panang curry was like hugging a baby goat for the first time. It was exceptional, it was exquisite. It was umami paradise. I would like to shake the owners hand personally. I will be back.
Hands down some of the best sushi in the Birmingham area! Every dish is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients that you can taste in every bite. The menu has something for everyone and the flavors are always on point. On top of that the service is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making every visit feel special. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just looking for a fantastic meal, this spot is an absolute must-visit. I can’t recommend it enough! 🍣
Amazing food and even more amazing staff. Their dishes are truly one-of-a-kind — no one else makes them like this. I called to ask about an old menu item and they immediately offered to cook it special for me. Incredible service and consistently outstanding food!!🤗❤️
The food at Shiki Birmingham was delicious and the atmosphere was genuinely enjoyable — the kind of place you want to come back to. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the service we received. Our server, Brenda, was extremely unprofessional and rude throughout the visit. She seemed irritated when we asked simple questions, barely acknowledged us while taking our order, and ultimately got the order wrong. When I politely asked for it to be corrected, she responded with an attitude instead of helping resolve the issue. Thankfully, the manager stepped in and handled our checkout professionally, but the overall service left a lot to be desired. Great food and ambiance, but the customer service from our server definitely needs improvement.
The sushi menu at Shiki is diverse, featuring rolls like the Soho Roll—shrimp, tempura, and cream cheese topped with crab stick and eel sauce. For those seeking Thai comfort, the Masaman Curry is a standout, offering a rich, mildly spiced experience with tender chicken and a dollop of rice to balance the flavors. The Chicken Ramen, a recent addition, has garnered attention for its flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles.
We found our restaurant was closed on Monday SO WE SAW A SIGN FOR SEN LEK -Thai GRAND OPENING. We took a shot and and ate THAI ! It was an excellent choice! Service was outstanding and so helpful! Presentation was beautiful. Recommend menu items where delicious we added the dumplings and they let us a corn/lime we would order next time. Highly recommended!!!!
Service was fantastic, very attentive, respectful, and polite. There was a slight error with my order and they immediately fixed it with many apologies, the food is delicious, very wonderful quality and taste, well worth the visit, will return, thank you! My chashu was added after I took the image, but it’s still beautiful!
Shiki in Birmingham – Where the Sweet Tea is Sweet and the Vibes are Sweeter! So I rolled up to Shiki like your friendly neighborhood DoorDash driver—phone at 4%, stomach on E, and dreams of dessert dancing in my head. Since I’m basically living that “professional driver” life, I had to skip all the tempting drinks (believe me, they looked good enough to give up gas money for), but let me tell you... the sweet tea? Legendary. The dessert? Desserted me speechless. I posted up at the bar to charge my phone (because nothing says modern survival like a dying battery), and they welcomed me like family. Fifi—oh man, shoutout to Fifi. She’s not just a bartender, she’s a customer service ninja. Attentive, fast, and somehow managing 12 things at once without breaking a sweat. If bartending was an Olympic sport, she’d be bringing home gold and still serving sweet tea with a smile. The music? Let’s just say the playlist deserves its own Yelp review. Chill but energizing—like if Lo-Fi met R&B at a spa and decided to open a sushi bar together. Next time I swing by, I’m treating myself to lunch or dinner, with extra wasabi and zero regrets. If you're in Birmingham and haven't tried Shiki, what are you even doing with your life? Go now. Thank me later.
Wonderful dinning experience. The waiter was very attentive and kind. The food was delicious. And the atmosphere was chill. There are terrace sitting, wish it was warmer so we could have sat outside, but the inside is intimate. The basil roll was top notch, that peanut sauce made it very very delish! That was my favorite for sure!
Very tasty , authentic Thai food and amazing service. We were seated promptly and service was very quick. We got the appetizers and drinks for 50% off. Thanks to the happy hour !! We ordered curry potstickers, tempura shrimp and tempura green beans. For mains we got the chicken fried rice, lamb curry and the beef bulgogi. Everything was super delicious !! This was on Christmas Eve. Everything else was closed but we enjoyed a great dinner.
Thai curries and sushi’s both taste great. I had a very pleasant dining experience on the special Valentine’s Day. The food preparation is speed enough so you don’t have to wait for too long. However, the ambient is quite dark inside especially at night. If the restaurant could turn up the light a bit that will be a much difference.
This place was so good! The crab Rangoon is really something to talk about here. Probably the best crab Rangoon I’ve ever had! The sauce that goes with it is sweet and compliments it well! I got the Pad Thai which comes with chicken AND shrimp. It was good. Nothing over the top about it. I would probably try something else next time. They didn’t have Thai Tea, which I was bummed about. The chicken coconut soup was okay, the chicken didn’t have a lot of flavor and the actual soup was a little too spicy for me. The ginger salad was delicious! The waitress was very nice and attentive. She came over the perfect amount of times and constantly kept our drinks full. Overall, I would give this place an 8 out of 10! My brother gives it a 7 out of 10 (he also had Pad Thai.) My cousin gets the Green Curry often and said he gives the curry a 5 out of 5. We sat on the patio, it was a beautiful day. The only thing about patio sitting is the pollen, but not a big deal!
I've eaten here several times and the food was excellent. Tonight they were a little off. Or they may have had a new owner and chef? We started by ordering "hot" sake but it was barely above room temperature. My wife then ordered coconut soup that was served with her entree. She enjoyed it, but had to eat it fast so that her main dish didn't go cold. She had the chicken in green curry. It was nicely spiced, and a good portion. I ordered ginger and mushrooms with chicken. Also a nice portion, but bland. Given the restaurant's past performance we will return.
We ordered 2 Masaman curry to go and both had an extremely small amount of actual curry/sauce. Giant hunks of tofu and carrots sitting with their toes barely in the water. One spoon of rice and half the dish was soaked up. Seems like we really got shorted on the dish, but it did taste good, making the experience all the more disappointing.
I ordered a Tom Yum soup and two servings of fried rice at Birmingham Airport, but they didn't provide me with any chopsticks, spoons, or other utensils, and the food wasn't good either. Not authentic Thai food
Maybe it was a good place long ago, but we visited it today first time and it was a horrible experience. On pictures serving size is a good and in reality it’s tiny and looks like a waste of money, compared to other restaurants. Poor portions and very low level of service. The only plus is a very good location of this restaurant. Completely disappointed, and never come back.
