Amazing upscale establishment for either a nice meal out or brunch on the weekends. Outdoor and indoor seating are available, and the bar is full service. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We came for the all-you-can-eat tapas brunch (maximum time 2 hours), and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. The mimosas (limit 5 per customer) were good and strong, and the array of dishes to try was dazzling. We were able to work our way through most of the menu; particular favorites were "Hash," "Bacon," "Biscuit," Steak + biscuit," "Parfait," and particularly "Beignet," which was the best we've ever had--and that includes beignets from New Orleans itself. Cannot recommend highly enough.

What a cool spot to enjoy a meal, a beer, or just hang out on the patio. The Happy Hour deals are amazing, with fantastic food options. Definitely try the olives and the chips..wow! The complimentary water is served in a vintage bottle too…nice touch! I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever in Birmingham again.

Premier Event

We brought in 33 guests to Soho Standard for dinner as part of a corporate event. Bridgett, the GM/Event Coordinator was a pleasure to work with in the pre-planning (working with us on selecting the menu, making recs, and allowing us to slightly adjust our event time a week before) and she was even onsite during our dinner. All of our guests raved about the atmosphere and the food. We were greeted with passed apps and a full bar available to us. Then we had fresh bread and plated apps as guests began to sit. Followed by an incredible dinner and dessert. All of the staff was incredibly nice and efficient. Truly an amazing experience that our guests are still talking about. Definitely recommend Soho Standard!

This place was great, the cocktails were phenomenal, our favorite appetizer was the loaded fries in duck fat and the quail wrapped in bacon when I tell you mouth watering. I also had the crab cakes perfect size and the pairing with collard greens was something I didn’t know I needed. The atmosphere is great for a nice date or wanting to go somewhere nice with a group of friends.

Great recommendation from Aloft hotel staff! Fried Green Tomatoes were perfectly prepared and gulf caught Snapper was divine and paired wonderfully with grit cake and charred okra. Making this a fantastic meal was the perfect southern sweet tea. Niki was fantastic also!

Another home run for Birmingham diners. I hadn't heard of SoHo Standard but were invited to dine with some friends. The atmosphere is cozy / modern / comfy and just the right size for the staff to properly support it's guest. The menu is spot-on too for its size. A solid handful of options for every course that puts a new twist on favorites and makes you say, "why haven't I tried that before?". Like a beignet filled with crab meat, roasted corn and poblanos THEN dusted with powdered sugar! The bar is game changer too. My wife had a craving for something with fresh blackberries and they invented a martini for her for the evening (check out the photos). Our table stayed in the seafood genre choosing scallops, fresh Snapper and crab cakes. We'd all order it again next time. Check out the ever-changing menu and get reservations before they get impossible to book a table as everything starts to open up again. They will be a local hit for sure.

Had a great experience here. All the food was fresh and very tasty. There were several unique items in the menu. There pork belly lollipops were excellent! Shrimp and grits were great, and I recommend the S'mores dessert! Staff was very friendly and there was very little wait time between courses. I'd certainly eat here again.

Stopped in for lunch with my toddler and sat outside. Staff was super friendly and welcoming, which was a nice start. Food-wise…it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst either. I’d eat here again. The kid’s corn dogs were a hit and my daughter devoured them. Fries were very salty (which I actually love), but a bit much for my toddler, so I kept those to myself. The egg rolls were just okay, like a 3/5. They needed a better dipping sauce…. not sure what exactly, but the ones that came with it were kinda blah. Wings had good flavor, but they had that weird fridge taste… might’ve just been me. I took them home, tossed them in some hot BBQ sauce, hit them with the air fryer, and they turned out pretty tasty. Sitting outside was fine, but a few patio fans would’ve helped with the heat. There were a lot of flies, but hey….. that’s just outdoor dining sometimes. Oh and when it’s time to pay, you have to pay on their handheld device and it’s just annoying to me. It’s 2025, just give me a receipt with a QR Code to scan (with exception of paying cash). Overall, chill spot. I’d come back.

My husband and I visited here on Saturday morning. Although it was pretty busy, we were able to be seated right away, outside. The inside dining appears to be very limited in space. However, the service was great, the food was good, we didn't care much for the grit cake with the shrimp and grits. Everything else we tried was good. We got the meal with the bottomless mimosas, and they were just right.

Came with SO for their Bottomless Tapas Brunch. It's $48 a person (plus tax and tips, of course) for unlimited mimosas with bottomless brunch and $35 for just Bottomless Brunch. What's kind of amusing to me is they put big bold "complimentary mimosas" on the menu even though it really isn't technically, not without a bunch of strings, as obvious in the pricing. Somebody needs to explain to them what "complimentary" means, ha. They do take reservations and I would recommend making one if you are set on eating there but don't want to wait. We didnt have a reservation but got lucky and was able to sit down right away. This was a bit past 10:30am on a Sundsy morning and the place was over 90% full. Staff there are super nice and efficient, definitely 5 stars there. This being my first time there, I tried as many dishes as I could. A huge fan of the fried green tomato, steak biscuit, and beignets. Got multiple of these and would definitely recommend. Thought the bacon and sausage balls, shrimp and grits, and the fish were terrible. Bacon is floppy and I am a crispy girl, so that's definitely a personal preference thing and you may love it. The girt cake in the shrimp and grits were cold and hard, a definite no. The fish was over fried. Another thing of note is that at not even 11am (and their brunch runs from 10am to 2:30am), they were already out of the quail and almost out of the parfait and the oysters. So if you come at noon, you are already down three things you probably wanted to at least try! That's definitely a problem IMO. These factors caused me to feel like 4-stars is the best I can do, especially considering the cost. However, if you have never been, I would definitely recommend you to give them a try! Thr stuff that's good are really good and you could just fill up on those haha.

Very mid. The food was good but theres more that isn’t. The place is super small and the service is lacking. They ran out of most dishes and while it could be a good indicator- the server admitted they make it the day before so that’s worse..! A lot left to be desired.

We visited soho standard today and we really enjoyed the food, but the service was terrible. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down. The older man with glasses with a long grey pony tail was our server, and near the end didn’t even check on us. We were in the middle of eating when he came and forced a payment device in my face to pay and I looked at him with food in my mouth filling forced to close. We paid but still wanted to sit and enjoy our food. At this point we had 40 minutes of our reservation to spare, being there was a policy 1.5 hour reservation. While we waited to be serviced again with refills no one came so we decided to flag someone down. By the time we could, we called him over and requested another drink. He argued with us that we only had 10 minutes of our reservation left. We stated that we are aware but still wanted another drink and that time has not yet expired. He walked away yelling across the restaurant that we had “our 5 drinks” (which is the limit they give for mimosas) when we had only had 3 drinks. We ended up walking out because I didn’t want to make a scene we were just done and irritated. This is not how you treat paying customers who are spending their money and for a good experience. I used to come here often but will not be spending anymore money here due to this experience and lack of service.
