Opinions de Chongqing Chicken Pot Houston
The frog pot is the standout dish—tender, perfectly cooked frog meat with a rich, well-seasoned broth that’s both savory and slightly spicy. What’s even better is the hotpot experience that follows. After finishing the main dish, the remaining broth serves as the perfect base for cooking vegetables, meats, and noodles. It’s a fantastic way to extend the meal and savor every last drop of the delicious soup.
The flavors are incredible! We asked for no spice, and it is impressive how much flavor they added without the aid of spice. The crispy pork was not oily, and we left satisfied and warm, with a lot of leftovers. Servers were sweet. Prices were more than fair.
Chongqing Chicken Pot is hands down my favorite restaurant. I’ve been here on 5 separate occasions and the quality has never cease to disappoint me. How it works: we start off with ordering a pot of chicken and hotpot add-ins. While we wait for our food, we make our hotpot dipping sauce. When we are about done eating the chicken, the lovely ladies come by and pour the hotpot soup base. From there it becomes hotpot and we add in our beef, bean curd, veggies, ect. It is some of the most flavorful chicken I have tried. I will say, there are bones, but they make the dish all the more flavorful. I also cannot forget the staff, the ladies working there are always so helpful and kind. 10 out of 10 service. I recommend getting the coconut milk or the lemon tea! Our favorite hotpot add-ins are enoki mushrooms, bean curd, beef, and rice cakes.
I come here once every few weeks! Love the food and the employees are so quick and nice. I always get the small chicken pot (you eat dry) and I also order veggies like Chinese cabbage, watercress, and fried tofu skin for after they add the soup to the pot. Love that they have a station where you can make your own dipping sauce. Prices are reasonable and it's a great way to have conversation while you eat.
Come hungry cause this is a lot of food. My boyfriend and I ordered the small chicken pot and it was more than enough for 2. Honestly the small could probably feed 4 people. I like the flavor of the stir fried chicken, it gave me comfort food vibes. I was already full by the time the hot pot portion came around but I managed to keep going somehow. The portions for hotpot were reasonable too. I’ll make sure to bring more people when I come back lol
Great spot for some spicy and filling hot pot to share with others. Got the medium chicken pot - it has enough food for 2-3 people. The chicken is very juicy with layers of flavor and great spiciness. After finishing most of the chicken with some rice (the sauce/broth is so delicious over rice), the servers poured steaming flavorful broth over what was left so we could have hot pot. We ordered a few hot pot items, and they were great!
Awesome place if you wanna get away from the regular hot pot! It first starts off a braise which you can eat with rice and then afterwards the broth will be added into the braise creating a hot pot. Pick a couple of additions to add to your hot pot like veggies, meats, and seafood
I took my family here to try out this concept that we've never had before, and we were very impressed. The chicken and frogs were very good, and like everyone else, we finished with the hot pot. I never thought these dishes were related and can be combined, but it turned out to be a brilliant idea. We will be back
When you order they give you a sheet and you fill out what you want and what sides. I had the beef rib pot and it was delicious. The staff also come around often to offer broth. I recommend this restaurant.
Food is Amazing and Delicious for people like the hot & fresh

Unique dining experience that combines 2 dishes into 1! First you order the claypot, which comes in chicken, short ribs, or frog legs. We went with the original chicken pot in a medium size. You can get small, medium, or large depending on how hungry you are or how big your party. While the dish is tasty, my only complaint is the tiny bones from the chicken being cut into such small pieces with the bone in. After you enjoy the delicious claypot, which is very flavorful, they come by and pour in a broth into what's left of your dish to make a hot pot. All of the hotpot items are al a carte when you order in the beginning. The broth made from the chicken pot creates a uniquely flavored hotpot. Overall we really enjoyed the experience and will be back to try their other claypots. I would caution diners to be careful of errant chicken bones, especially when it's on the hotpot phase as the bones can pop up when you least expect it. Otherwise the food was great!
I’m not an expert in this style of food, but everything was very flavorful and I will come back. I ordered the Chongqing chicken pot and the Beef Rib pot. I prefer the flavors in the chicken one. We got Medium level spicy and while that was a good level of spice I may up it next time to really get that spice!
I’ve been going To this hot pot restaurant for about two years on average, I probably come here once or twice a month and I don’t understand the hate on this restaurant, Customer service is always on point. The restaurant is super affordable very budget friendly, I Have not been Disappointed with the food and it’s portions so I really don’t understand most of these negative reviews about this restaurant, if you’re looking for a spot that is cheap and is very quick and consistent with very good customer service then this place is for you, 100% recommend this spot.

Wouldn’t call it chongqing “authentic” cuisine…more like “inspired”… Ordered “extra spicy” chicken pot - it was barely mild. That’s not chongqing style. The flavor and tenderness of the chicken was good, but nothing special. After you eat some of the chicken pot, they will bring out hot water to make a hotpot with chicken flavor in your pot. The price is really fair for what you get. But the service is very slow - seems understaffed.
It’s nice that there is a restaurant specializing in Chongqing Chicken pot here. We ordered the chicken pot and it’s more than enough for 2 of us. And we started it as a dry pot, after had much chicken, it can be converted into a hotpot with soup. Then enjoy the other dishes in it. Portion was pretty big, better come with more people.
Chongqing Chicken Pot is a fantastic spot for those who love bold, flavorful dishes with a unique dining experience. This is our third visit, and it continues to impress with its well-executed concept and rich, aromatic flavors. The experience begins with a clay pot of your choice, filled with the tender, well-seasoned meat. Once you’ve savored the clay pot, the meal seamlessly transforms into a hot pot, adding fresh ingredients to soak up the flavorful broth. The dual-purpose pot makes this spot stand out, providing a dynamic way to enjoy the meal from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a cozy gathering. Whether you’re craving something hearty or looking for an interactive dining experience, Chongqing Chicken Pot is a great place!
First time trying hotpot in Chongqing style. I chose the chicken and frog hotpot. Initially, the main dish of chicken and frog is stir-fried with a spicy sauce (you can choose the level of spiciness). Then, the staff will pour in the broth so you can continue to dip noodles and vegetables into the hotpot. I was quite impressed with this way of eating. The food was fresh, the spicy flavor was rich and intense, the space was clean, and the staff were enthusiastic.
Good hotpot restaurant. A new style where they first serve the disk (chicken/beef/frog or combination pot), then the broth is poured into the pot for your to dip the hotpot dishes. We had chicken and frog pot, following by the regular hotpot dishes with multiple meat and vegetables. It was not spicy, not too salty. Friendly staffs. The seats are small, with limited spacings. Also, it will be hard to find parking there. Either you need to come early to be able to park in front of the store, or find a spot innthe parking area nearby. Overall, a must try.
Price wise, it is really reasonable at about $22 for a medium chicken pot. The chicken was flavorful and I really like the idea of turning your chicken pot into a hotpot once you are done. One thing to consider though, once broth is added to the chicken pot, it also starts boiling the oil and grease with it, so the flavors become more intense and you end up consuming much of the oil that you normally won’t. The ingredients were fresh and the bone in chicken itself was amazing. The sauce bar had a good selection - my go it is always the sesame sauce. I’ll recommend it for the taste and flavor but be a little wary if you are watching your health. The bing fen was amazing though, I’ll highly recommend it. The servers were really courteous and service was fast and I’m glad they open until 11 for those late night cravings.
The staff were very friendly and polite. I tried the spicy frog , but I wasn't sure if it was due to the cooking method, but the ingredients didn't taste very fresh. Maybe I should have ordered the chicken instead!
It is delicious and the waiters are very friendly. Broth tastes amazing. The price is very fair. However, the chicken pot we order was very oily, had some stomach issues after I got home. Would recommend to use less oil for the pot. The waitress was nice that she scooped most of the oil out when I asked. Would come back again for other flavors.
Cool concept but you should go in with a plan or you'll end up ordering too much. Better to go with a group so you can get a variety of things. We thought it was well seasoned and liked that it was an experience.
