Cutting Board (Dunhuang Plaza, next to HeyTea) is a great new spot for the area. Think approachable comfort food with flavors that feel familiar — pasta, risotto, pork chop, and fried chicken all well-seasoned and not overly heavy. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable, which is hard to find lately. The pork chop with curry sauce was especially good — tender and flavorful. Oysters are currently $1 each and fresh. Casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Easy choice for a weeknight dinner when you don’t feel like cooking. Will be back!
Had a great experience at Cutting Board. The new seafood boil is really good — the crawfish were fresh and flavorful, and the snow crab legs and clams were great too. The oysters were freshly shucked and a great deal.$1/per! We also tried the red wine beef pasta, teriyaki squid, and fried wings — all tasty and reasonably priced. Nice casual spot to enjoy seafood with friends, and they also offer drinks to go. Would definitely come back!
I visited Cutting Board five times in two months, this is how much I love this place. If you are looking for something light and delicious, this is the spot. The flavor is light but the portion is still big! My favorite dishes would be the Lobster Roll, lobster pasta, lobster creamy rice (aka risotto), anything with lobster is chef kisses here. Another must try is their fried pork cutlet, crispy on the outside but super tender on the inside. They just had a new promotion on their oyster on shelf, $1 each!! They know run this promotion when its in season!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Fresh Seafood & Incredible Variety! Cutting Board is easily a new favorite. The quality of the food and the presentation are both top-notch. We ordered a bit of everything, and every single dish delivered on flavor. The Highlights: * The Lobster Roll: Absolutely packed with fresh, succulent lobster. It wasn’t over-dressed, allowing the sweetness of the seafood to shine, and the toasted bun was the perfect vessel. The side of fries was hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. * Seafood Pastas: We tried both the red and white sauce options. The Seafood Marinara was loaded with mussels, clams, and calamari, while the Shrimp & Mushroom Linguine had a great kick of spice (that chili dusting is a game changer!). * Loco Moco / Rice Plate: This was the ultimate comfort dish. The sunny-side-up egg was cooked perfectly, and the gravy was rich and savory. * Waffle Fries: You can’t go wrong here—perfectly golden and crunchy. The atmosphere was welcoming, and you can tell the kitchen really cares about the details. Whether you're craving a classic Maine-style lobster roll or a hearty pasta, this place has you covered. Highly recommended—we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!
We ordered the uni pasta, shrimp scampi, and takoyaki. For $6, the takoyaki came with six pieces, which felt like a fair price. The uni pasta had several pieces of sea urchin, making it a great deal for the price. It was really creamy and not overly salty. The music and service were good. It wasn’t packed when we went which was lunch time on Saturday.
Fantastic food and great service. Everything came out quickly and there’s a lot to choose from! Especially loved the lobster roll, lobster creamy rice and Uni pasta. Seafood was very fresh and everything was super flavorful. Highly recommend checking them out!
I stopped by this pasta seafood spot and was blown away from start to finish. I started with the fried calamari — light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned with a tender bite inside. The lobster roll was generous with sweet, fresh lobster meat, lightly dressed so the flavor really shined. But the star of the night was the sea urchin pasta — creamy, briny, and rich without being heavy, with that unmistakable uni sweetness in every bite. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, service was attentive without being rushed, and every dish tasted fresh like it came straight from the ocean. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to whenever I’m craving quality seafood and pasta done right.
I’m not sure why this restaurant doesn’t get much foot traffic, because the food is excellent for the price. The chicken wings appetizer was moist and delicious. We also tried the lobster during their promo period, and it was loaded with lobster meat—almost overwhelming in the best way. The dressing was mild, which really allowed the natural flavor of the lobster to shine. We ordered the food to go.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is the first time I’ve ever felt the urge to leave a review — that’s how good it was! I tried the shrimp creamy rice and grilled calamari salad, and everything was delicious. The flavors were well-balanced, and the sesame dressing on the salad was especially fragrant. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality was excellent. Truly great value for the money. Highly recommend Cutting Board — can’t wait to come back and try more!
Chinatown has been needing a fresh and unique dining concept, and Cutting Board truly delivers! The atmosphere is modern and comfortable, the service is warm and attentive, and the seafood dishes are both fresh and beautifully presented. Every bite shows the chef’s dedication to quality. Prices are very reasonable for the experience you get. This restaurant brings something new and exciting to Chinatown, and it’s absolutely worth a visit!
During my second visit, I ordered a variety of dishes. My personal favorites were the chicken wings and the lobster creamy rice. Monica, our server, was exceptionally friendly and attentive to our needs.
Highly, highly, highly recommended! We found this Italian styled, modern, minimalistic fusion restaurant in China Town. We were totally impressed by it. We ordered lobster risotto which featured a whole lobster, creamy, tasty and plentiful. The lobster roll, however, is my kid’s favorite. The bread was nicely toasted, crispy and buttery flavored. Again plenty of lobster meats. We also ordered sea urchins linguine which was cooked to perfection. You can taste the sweet freshness of the sea urchins. Surprisingly no fishy smells at all. Not to mention the starters that we ordered, calamari which was cooked to a standard way above average. They are currently running the soft opening super saver deal. Let me tell you, for that price, you won’t regret coming to check it out yourself.
Love the katsu! It was simple, but absolutely delicious. I like how the clam chowder had actual pieces of clam in it. Get the calamari! It’s super delicious! The Lobster roll was ok, not as good as the one in Maine…a little too creamy, but it’s also hard to beat Maine. I want to go back and try the sea urchin pasta.
One of the best uni spaghetti I’ve had! The uni was incredibly fresh and creamy, coating the pasta perfectly. The flavor was rich but not overpowering, and the pasta was cooked just right. I would definitely order this again.
Food came out super fast, we were surprised! We got the Lobster roll with fries, Lobster creamy rice and their Calamari. They were all super delicious that I craved it again the next day haha specially the creamy rice. Unlike other restaurants, their togo bag comes with a reusable bag and container with i think is really cool. Overall, definitely recommend trying this place out.

I particularly love the Lobster Roll (lobster burger) and the Lobster Creamy Rice (lobster creamy rice). I especially want to praise their service. The eco-friendly ♻️ takeout bags and ingredients are all carefully selected. The elegant environment, understated luxury, and K-pop background music give you a reason to slow down and enjoy delicious food.
We enjoyed our lunch at Cutting Board during soft opening. We had their clam chowder, lobster roll, fatty beef creamy rice, uni pasta, and iced lemon tea. They use good amount of ingredients, i.e. clams, fatty beef, lobster, uni, so it’s very satisfying. Everything was tasty. My only gripe is I wish their uni pasta has a stronger uni taste, but it’s still not bad. Also, I think it would make a more complete menu if they have a little dessert section as I was craving something sweet and small at the end of the meal, maybe just tiramisu and ice-cream. All the serving staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and has a modern industrial style decor. It’s very nice! Honestly I felt likeI was eating at a “western restaurant” on some outlying island in Hong Kong, instead of in Houston china town. It’s refreshing! Would definitely come back again!
I went on a Sunday around noon and it wasn’t too crowded nor empty. The design of the restaurant is very nice with warm lighting complimenting the darker furniture. The restaurant itself was very clean and we were able to choose where we sat. The waitress was very nice and attentive and gave us time to look over the menu and ask questions. The lobster bisque had a good flavor while not being overpowering. I had the beef curry udon and it had a nice curry flavor without overpowering the normal udon flavor that you would desire. The sea urchin pasta was creamy while having a nice sea food flavor. The drinks were good not too sweet but still hitting the craving. Overall a great experience for the surprisingly reasonable price.
Love and recommend this place! Had so much fun with my friends and the music/atmosphere is vibey! :) A little before and after. Rather let that delightful meal be stored in my stomach and not a to-go box!
I stopped by Cutting Board during their soft opening and had a truly wonderful experience! The servers were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home. I tried the sea urchin pasta, grilled calamari salad, grilled salmon salad, and the cioppino seafood stew—everything was outstanding. The sea urchin pasta was rich and flavorful, the grilled salads were fresh and perfectly balanced, and the cioppino was packed with fresh seafood in a deeply comforting broth. The iced lemon tea was the perfect refreshing touch. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and the service here. I’m excited to come back and try more!
Food was very yummy. Interior was nice, staff was also friendly and food was good in my opinion. We had the Uni pasta which was really good, the lobster rice was also not bad and we also had the clams but forgot to take a picture. All in all everything was nice and we even got a nice Togo bag to take home.
We on grand opening weekend. The restaurants were full and we were still able to get a table within less than 5 minutes. They had a special, spend $50 and get a free steam lobster! There's no limit to how many lobster you get. The lobster was not over cook. Steam to perfection. The lobster roll was ok. Needed more seasoning and the bread was a little dry. Maybe needed more garlic butter. Takoyaki was good. The Grilled Calamari Salad was very refreshing with the dressing. Fried chicken wings were moist inside and crispy outside not too oily. It was season just right. Spaghetti was very meaty sauce like any spaghetti you can get. It's a nice hangout spot. Fast service with decent food especially for the pricing. It's not too expensive. Just don't expect any cute oppa bc it's mostly female working in the front lol
—Soft opening— Best dishes = lobster bisque and grilled calamari salad Lobster bisque: a creamy tomato based soup. Not too much heavy cream so not ad heavy on the stomach as other lobster bisques I’ve had. Lobster has a “snap” texture and then soft on the inside. Very fresh. Grilled calamari salad with yuzu sauce: a citrus sauce with chewy calamari on a bed of mixed greens, most notably spinach, lettuce, and arugula. Lobster roll: chopped lobster tossed in mayo based sauce on bread. Good. Solid lobster roll. Fatty beef creamy rice: thinly sliced brisket (like the ones used in hot pot) on a bed of tomato cream rice. Again, not too heavy. Well seasoned, might try a different protein next time though. Sea urchin pasta: not the star of the meal. Sauce wasn’t thick enough and slipped off of the noodles. A bit unseasoned. Sea urchin became hard and no longer creamy due to the heat. Service: quick and kind.

The food was ok overall but staff was nice and was happy to explain things we asked. We got the fried calamari, clam linguine, and the fatty beef creamy rice. I would say skip the linguine since there was no flavor what so ever and it was a soupy pasta? The creamy rice was decent and had like a tomato hint to it and the calamari was ok. Will have to check out other items to get a better idea about how I feel about this place
Got the lobster roll and the sea urchin uni pasta. The sea urchin pasta’s flavour was filled with umami and good BUT they could definitely improve with increasing the thickness of the sauce. It was very watery. Using cream or more cheese may help thicken the sauce. Lobster roll’s lobster was generous but relatively flavorless. The saltiness of the fries was pretty well seasoned but tasted like they were sitting in oil too long. The mouthfeel ended with a very mealy and oily wet bite

Went in for some pasta. And we got a few dishes - sake mussels - lobster bri -and tow other pasta dishes. Needless to say the flavor and texture was very underwhelming.. Every felt more soupy and lack of flavor. Shrimps were def high cook,,tough and not great - appetizer mussels were flavorless, the soup sale was. Aneat idea but not much flavor. Everything was okay but not amazing or stood out. - servers were nice, and attentive For $20 a person the quality didn't meet what I was expecting
