Not a bad place at all! The drinks made with the fountain gun seemed to not be the best flavor, but over all a nice, no-judgement zone. Clean and lots of space!

I love this place!!! The Eagle has great service, drink specials, bartenders, unique shop inside, nightly entertainment and a really cool and great food truck. ❤️🏳️‍🌈❤️🏳️‍🌈

Love Sunday Funday and... well... any day I go. Accessories/Leather shop inside that always has fresh new stuff along with the every day leatherman essentials !! Bar staff are always nice and there is always some good eye candy to look at. And when the bewitching hour hits...you gotta hit up Taco Truck outside for the bestest, cheesiest, most deliciousness quesadilla ever.

Never heard of mixing ground beef with chorizo for mini burgers, but dayum, this place turns that dish out on special occasions and it is the bomb! The menu is full of great fusion dishes, it was hard to decide. The prices seem to match the portions and I'm eager for a return to Eagle Eats to try another dish. Or I may just be stuck on those mini burgers for a while! (Hopefully soon to be a regular menu item.)

I don't visit often but when I do, I have a great time. The dance floor is always packed. I don't know what they do to their soda fountain but they have the crispest best tasting bar diet coke. It is almost as good as McDonald's. The only negative is there is a set of steep death stairs in the outside patio, I have a fear of tumbling down them and breaking my little neck after a couple of beers.

Fun upbeat bar with great a/c, patios, clean restrooms, & honest bartenders. Always a good weekend crowd. International guest note: NO public wifi. Go to any other gay bar in the neighborhood to connect.

Went out here with the guy I’m seeing and it was pretty good. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. And of course attractive too. Haha. Good music. No drama. More a bar scene which I like. There’s a bomb taco truck if you’re having a hankering for grub!

Let me preface by saying, I'm a Southern gal, raised in Tennessee. I know fried chicken. I've been cooking my great-grandmother's recipe in a cast iron skillet for ages. So I have VERY high expectations when it comes to this entree. Holy moly was I pleasantly surprised at The Eagle! Their fried chicken is outstanding. So tender, cooked perfectly, no flavor is sacrificed. So many restaurants toot about their friend chicken, but I've been disappointed many times. Not at The Eagle, though. Not in the mood for such a hefty meal? Try the roast chicken salad! The figs put it over the top! The sides are meant to be shared. My favorite is absolutely the mac n' cheese. You MUST go here.

We like this place. Very cozy with lots of outdoor balconies. They have good drink specials as well. Can get very crowded especially for Sunday Funday.

Varsity Bar HTX: A Solid Reboot for the Sports Crowd (4/5 Stars) Varsity Bar HTX, the newly reopened spot in the space formerly occupied by Eagle, has successfully navigated its transition and delivered a comfortable, sports-focused experience. The efforts to clean up and modernize the venue are immediately apparent, making it a strong contender for a casual mid-week drink or game night. The biggest upgrade is the clear commitment to sports. The entire space feels much cleaner than before, and the addition of many new TVs showing various games means you won't have a bad seat in the house. This shift in focus is clear and effective. Furthermore, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which always makes an early-evening visit more pleasant. Structurally, the bar is still very familiar; not much changed inside or out in terms of the floor plan, so previous patrons will feel right at home. The pricing is reasonable, with well drinks priced the same as other bars in the area, keeping it competitive. My only notable critique lies in the décor: the installation of fake grass across various surfaces feels a bit obsessive and gives the place a slightly jarring aesthetic that distracts from the clean upgrades. Also, while I visited around 5 pm and the place was fairly empty—which is expected for that time—I look forward to seeing the atmosphere when the crowds pick up later in the evening or on a game day. Overall, Varsity Bar HTX is a well-executed rebrand that offers good drinks, friendly service, and a great setup for watching sports. It’s a solid 4-star local spot that just needs a slightly less aggressive turf treatment. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bar tenders are nice and friendly. The drink prices are a bit high in comparison to the other bars in the area. The music that is played is alright, but not anything special.

Bartender thought it was cool to cut the jukebox when we had paid for several songs that never got to play. They also haven't evolved to the point that they don't need to keep your credit card for an open tab (unlike every other area bar).

It's not your typical Eagle's bar… more along the lines of a JRs on steroids… there is some leather, but it's a mixed crowd… those looking for the typical Eagle crowd will be disappointed… but it's a fun bar nonetheless

I am on the minority in that I think the Fried Chicken here is subpar. The coating just doesn't do it for me, it is just too hard and crunchy. I think KFC has a better flavor profile. I am not a hot sauce fan so the Spicy Honey they provide to help the chicken hurts it in my opinion. Everything else is great. The Mac N Chesse is great. The drinks are what I would expect from a Mass Ave location. The use Eagle Rare in the Old Fashion which makes it worth drinking. The atmosphere is great making it feel like a classy barn. Stick to the side and drinks and you will be happy.

I was at the Eagle Houston Friday Aug 16th at 7pm. I had the worst bartender ever. He only payed attention to his friends at the bar then his customers. There were people who had the yell at him to get his action to get a drink. He was not friendly only to his friends. The drink I had was horrible. I told him about it and he said there was nothing wrong with it. After having to explained myself as to why I didn’t like it he finally made me a new drink. I guess he was never Taught that the customer is always right. Avoid this bartender or be prepared to have a horrible night.

I was at the Eagle Houston Friday Aug 16th at 7pm. I had the worst bartender ever. He only payed attention to his friends at the bar then his customers. Beware going anywhere near this establishment. I have an outstanding insurance claim due to an incident that was the bar's responsibility and after two months, nothing is resolved despite emailing and calling. Their broker over at FNBIA - Bar Insurance has ghosted me. Shouldn't be that hard to do the right thing and treat people with respect.

the staff that works there is rude, when it ends at 2:00 am they throw you out like a dog, they have no respect for people, they yell at you in a very bad way that you have to leave the place, they are definitely rude and disrespectful, I was in line to enter the bathroom and one of those who works there didn't respect his shift and got in front of everyone claiming that he worked there and they sent the police to take us out for no reason, they abused, they took more advantage because we were women. They are definitely rude and disrespectful, this bar has no respect for its customers. I definitely give them a zero and terrible mistreatment of customers. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 zero stars

I was actually really bummed after my visit to this bar: The Eagle is generally known as a leather bar in every major city it exists in and this bar was the furthest from when I visited. Eagle's are generally very friendly bars and this is probably the one exception. The patrons were very inconsiderate and coming in with my leathers on I was quickly disregarded by the bartenders and waited for over 5 minutes for service and subsequently left after being ignored. The crowd was generally younger twinks who were very uninterested in socializing with anyone outside of their own groups. It was disheartening to say the least. I also visited the store, the gentleman was pretty unhelpful but the store was stocked with a variety of different brands but the selection was limited. In all honesty I wouldn't visit this bar again. If you're interested in a leather bar, there are others in the immediate vicinity that are worth visiting.

If you want ice thrown at, you don’t come to this bar. This man threw ice at me and my friends because we were barely in front of the bar for even five minutes and there was a drag queen show so we had to make room and he kept throwing ice at us when there was no line. My friends and I are going to report him. It was upstairs, and he was a white bald man.

Went into the eagle Houston tonight for pride with my good friend Mark! I'm here on tour stayed and extra day just to hang out tonight. My buddy Mark who frequents the club regularly pointed out his favorite bartender who was wearing a neon green egale shirt. I complamented him on the color he told me the shirt was on sale in the store. I said awesome I'm going to go grab one he gave me the thumbs up. I proceeded to stream my Instagram live as I do all over the country in lgbtq establishments to promote the businesses. Next thing I know I'm being asked to leave by the younger black security guard. Drinks purchased by my friend Mark Cameron need to be refunded because there was absolutely zero reason to destroy our vibe. I still have zero clue why I was asked to leave. If you guys have a no filming policy then that should have been stated. I'm highly offended and this is not the eagle standard I'm accustome to across the country. I will make sure that I let every single one of my followers and individual in the community know just how I was treated un justly during pride Houston 2023 in Houston. Go to south beach or Jr's instead. They welcome all lgbtq and the venue is nice. I will be calling my ppl at atl eagle in the morning to tell them my experience. My feelings are hurt and I would like and apologize 😔

It’s a hard choice between the $6 budlites, or the $10 married liquor. Everyone else in montrose had $3 or $4 budlites. I don’t know how TABC doesn’t fine them for married call battles with top shelf bottle or wells. Never know what you’re going to get. The only thing you can guarantee is a high tab at the end of the night.
