Opinions de Handam BBQ Houston
We had a great first experience at Handam BBQ on a lowkey Monday night. We were excited to find a Korean BBQ spot in the neighborhood and were even more excited to find out it’s great. David our server was super kind and attentive, as were the rest of the staff. Highly recommend for date nights, with family, and with groups of friends!
We had an awesome experience at Handam BBQ in Houston! Our server Jay went above and beyond- super friendly, attentive, and made sure our grill was always perfect. He gave great menu recommendations and checked in often without being overbearing. The service really made the meal feel next level. Thanks Jay for making it such a great night! We’ll definitely be back.
Amazing experience at Handam Korean BBQ! Our server David was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and made the whole night special. The food was delicious and the entire staff was super welcoming. Highly recommend!
came for dinner and everything was excellent ! Jay was our server and he helped us through the whole experience. As soon as you sit you receive every banchan you can think of! We got the “B”AYCE which included wonderful meats and surprisingly hotpot. The location is definitely a big plus i won’t have to drive to bellaire for kbbq, Will definitely be back !
came here the other day and we had such a fantastic dinner!! food was amazing, vibe was amazing but our server Jay honestly made the whole night even better. from the moment we sat down, he had this calm, friendly energy — super attentive without hovering. he explained the menu, gave awesome tips on what to try, and kept everything running so smoothly. even when things got hectic, Jay handled it like a pro — our food came out perfectly, drinks stayed full, and he somehow managed to make us feel like we were his only table. you can tell he really enjoys what he does, and it makes a huge difference. if you end up dining here, ask for Jay. he’s def the kind of server who turns a casual dinner into one of those “we need to come back here” nights… will 100% be coming back soon!
Great experience at Handam Korean BBQ! They just added hot pot to the $35 AYCE, so you get both KBBQ and hot pot—such a great deal. Food was fresh and flavorful, and our server Jay was excellent 5⭐️: attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience smooth. Highly recommend!
Such a cute spot, portions were great! Our server David was very attentive and was highly knowledgeable on the menu. Would definitely come back !
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. David was a great server. He knew the menu off the top of his head and provided great recs. Will def be back
The atmosphere here was great! The service was quick, which you don’t see at most KBBQ places, and our server, Caitlyn, was cheerful and funny- overall brightening the experience. The food was also amazing!
5/5 they give you both hot pot and BBQ now, and little mini cakes for dessert!! Highly recommend. Our server David did a great job
We had a large party and ate in the private dinning room, our server Phuong An was very attentive and went out of her to ensure we had a good experience. It was our time here, she explained everything very clearly. Food was good and well seasoned!
David was our server he was great. The food and atmosphere is good. Parking is behind the bar next door. So turn down that street behind the restaurant. Overall great experience.
We just moved to Houston after 2.5 years in South Korea. We were so excited when we saw this place on instagram. From the panchan (side dishes) to the meat, everything was delicious and pretty authentic. We definitely were reminiscing about all of our KBBQ nights in SK. I would suggest asking for a side of lettuce so you can make lettuce wraps as is traditional. If I had to make one recommendation to the owners it would be to add onions with the KBBQ onion sauce (양파 소스). This was the only things we were missing!
We had an amazing experience at Handam BBQ, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server, Jay!!! From the moment we sat down, Jay was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu, gave great recommendations, and made sure our grill was always just right. What really stood out was how smoothly he handled everything, even when the restaurant got busy. Our drinks were never empty, and he checked in often without being overbearing. Jay made the whole dining experience feel relaxed and enjoyable — like we were being taken care of by a friend who truly cared. If you’re coming here, ask for Jay. He’s the kind of server that turns a good meal into a great night out. We’ll definitely be back!
David was an excellent server this Valentine’s Day! knowledgeable, friendly and was on top of everything. We never had a time that the table wasn’t full haha good job Handam!!! Will be coming back!
First time having Korean bbq and this place is awesome!! I went with my little brother and Jay was our waiter. It was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. He was cool and helped my and my brother have a great night!
Hands down one of the best Korean BBQ spots in Houston, and Minh is the reason we’re coming back. Minh was hilarious, fast, and on top of everything the whole time. Felt like we were being served by a stand-up comic and a top-tier server at the same time. 😂💯 Made the whole experience fire. Meat stayed coming, sides stayed full, vibes stayed perfect. If you go to Handam BBQ, ask for Minh. He’s the GOAT. Give that man a raise 👏
Had such a wonderful experience on our first visit to this location besides Chinatown one. The food was absolutely great, and I was so impressed by how quickly it arrived at our table. The service was just as speedy and attentive, making the whole meal truly enjoyable. Highly recommend checking it if you look for place to dine in the Height!!
The food was amazing, with super fresh meats, tasty marinades, and all the side dishes were on point. Everything came out quickly, and grilling at the table was fun without feeling rushed. But honestly, what really made the night was our server, Jay. He was so friendly and attentive, making sure our drinks were always full and the grill was just right. He gave us great tips on what to try and how long to cook everything, which made the whole experience even better.
I loved my experience here, my server , Steven, did an amazing job at making sure my friends and I were okay and kept checking in on us throughout our dinner. His recs for our drinks and meat selections were so good. Thank you for the lovely experience! Loved the food and the vibes , would definitely come back !
Been a long time customer for Handam, wanted to tryout their new location (The Heights). Walking-in the atmosphere is completely different compared to the one in bellaire. perfect place to take your partner out on a date. Our server Jay was very quick minded and attentive to our table while he was taking care of others. Tho we did came pretty last minute, he and his team had everything done in a timely manner. would come back again!
I had a great experience at Handam BBQ! The food was delicious and fresh, and our server, Jay, was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. I’m also impressed because my hair smelled much less like smoke than at other BBQ places. Parking can be a little tricky, but it’s worth it for the great food and excellent service. Highly recommend!
Same good experience... different location Service and atmosphere: Our server was fairly friendly and provided us with some recommendations in the beginning. Other staff members were attentive and helpful too. The restaurant was clean, well organised and have modern and clean cut look to it. They offer many tables arrangements. Food and drinks: Very good selections in both areas. I recommend 'all you can eat' option which includes beef, poultry, seafood, and pork cuts. Many options to choose from in each category. We opted for beef only. Meat was well seasoned, marinated, cut and presented. You will get great variety of in-house made side dishes. The restaurant offers wide selection of alcoholic beverages too. Pricing: worth it. $$ - $35 per person for all you can eat is super
Dined here with my wife on a weekday evening. We had a reservation, but the restaurant wasn’t too busy, so it probably wasn’t necessary. We’ve visited the Handam location in Chinatown before, so we had a good idea of what to expect, and we weren’t disappointed. We decided to go for the $35 AYCE option, which offered great value. The quality of the meats was on par with the Chinatown location. The Banchan was plentiful and more than enough for the two of us fresh, flavorful, and a great variety that complemented the meal perfectly. They also use the gas grills with the charcoals on top which adds a different flavor to the meat. For appetizers, we opted for the seafood pancake and kimchi stew. The kimchi stew was a standout. I was rich, savory, and with just the right level of heat. The seafood pancake didn’t wow us as much as the stew, but it was still crispy and flavorful. Service was attentive and friendly, though one of the food runners mentioned they were short-staffed, which had them running around a bit. Despite this, they handled everything smoothly, and we never felt like we were waiting long for refills or additional items. Overall, we left feeling very satisfied with the meal. It’s fantastic to see an AYCE KBBQ spot in the Heights, and we’re hopeful this location thrives. If you’re craving a solid KBBQ experience without the hassle of driving to Chinatown, this is definitely worth checking out!
David was an amazing server and was incredibly helpful with navigating Handams extensive menu. So many options and all were delicious! My fave hot appetizer was the cheese corn. Clean environment, went around 1pm on a weekday and wasn’t too packed. We will be back!!
Nut allergy warning: One of the four default sauces provided contains peanuts. The staff was great about getting me a set without it. Parking: Don't be fooled into paid parking. The communal lot across the street is free. We had a reservation for 10 at 7PM and were seated at two adjacent tables with no issues. They don't do individual bills; it's as many bills as the number of tables you have at max I believe. The banchan was great, refills will only come if you ask. We got refills of the kimchi and fish cake often. For the two appetizers, we tried (between two tables, so four options) - Dumplings: Pretty standard, they were nice and crispy (3.5/5) - Seafood Pancake: Relatively disappointing. Too doughy and soggy (2/5) - Braised Beef Short Rib: By far the best dish there for an appetizer. Super tender and some of us liked this more than the KBBQ we were cooking. (5/5) We tried nearly every meat on the KBBQ menu. The Kalbi (especially Suwon style, a garlic rub) is quite good and not as stringy as other KBBQ spots. We also especially liked the gochujang pork jowl, a unique offering. The pork belly was also very balanced in fat. Most other things were pretty standard but I'd say you can't really go wrong. They use a good level of marinade and the charcoal allows for a smoky flavor. Service was quite good - our waitress checked back often, so even with four meats max per order we were never lacking. We got regular grill changes and I'd say the only hiccup was once when a grill change dripped some oil and burned my friend at the table. We backed off a lot after that. Also, their watermelon soju is a banger. Serves 3-4 well. It's not on the menu, but they have a complimentary dessert for the B option at one per person - little cakes with mango, strawberry, tiramisu, and mocha flavors. I liked mocha and tiramisu the best but they were all pretty light and fluffy. Overall, a fantastic KBBQ option in the heights and I hope they succeed here for years to come.
We came in due to craving delicious bbq and the many reviews proclaiming how great this place was and we must agree! We were very satisfied and thought the reviews were warranted. Our server (Elizabeth I think) was so kind and attentive, she made a great impression. Thanks for the delicious meal!
Great AYCE KBBQ in the city! Can recommend to stick with their “A” package, since they already serve a lot of banchan. Tasty banchan and fresh meat. Grill is being refreshed every now and then - great service!
This was our first time here at Handam BBQ, I have been to my fair share of Kbbq. This place the BEST I have ever experienced. The variety of excellent meat to the amazing sides most definitely will be going back. Our server was David and he was AMAZING he did not miss a beat he always checked on our table made sure we had refills on everything from drinks to sides he always had a smile and gave top level service. Thank you Handam for the great experience.
This was my first time coming here and I was really impressed by the service. Very clean, all the servers were very nice, especially Elizabeth. They give you tons of banchan. They have hotpot and a dessert included in the premium menu, and it’s only a $5 up charge between the two options. I’ll definitely be back here.
This place is really good! The quality of meats they have is good. I love the fact they bring you do many small sides. Other Korean BBQ restaurants doesn't. They have a lunch menu price of $20 and $25. They have a dinner menu price of $30 and $35.
David was a great server! They recently updated the menu, now you can get a hot pot of your choice in addition to fillable sides and all you can eat meat. I really enjoyed it :)
It was a great experience, the food was great with lot of variations. I also liked that if you order the course B you can get a hotpot on the side and dessert, I gave 4/5 on the food because the meat was good but I thought that the meat was a little bland and you will need a sauce to eat with it and I wished they have a dessert menu on it own because they had a complimentary dessert which were cakes (tiramisu, mango, raspberry, and mocha) and it was great that the gave us a complimentary dessert but in my opinion I just thought the taste of it was good but nothing special to it. Our server David, he was really polite and nice to us, explained the menu and always came to check on us which was excellent. The environment inside was great, the place was clean, nice mood and it was not loud or busy either. The all you can eat course A was $30 and course B was $35, I recommend the course B because for extra $5 you can get more types of meat, hotpot on the side, and dessert. Overall, it was a great experience and thanks to David and all the servers.
Heights location is really nice!! Just know they aren’t offering sushi in the ayce at this location, we didn’t know till we sat down. Meats were fresh and came out quick, overall great experience! Parking is limited to a small gravel lot nearby and just street parking.
After figuring the parking is on the other side…we got to try their delicious food. The banchan here is so good. Quality bbq meat. Excellent customer service, very attentive staff.
Came during soft opening and everything was so good! Was exactly like the bellaire location. Cailyn was an amazing server and so helpful! Genuinely had a great time and they gave us a free piece of sushi and appetizers. Definitely coming back!

We went to Handam BBQ in Houston for the lunch special. The price is one of the best in the city for this quality of food. Everything was delicious. Our server David was great and very friendly. There is also plenty of parking near the restaurant and across the street. We will definitely be back.
I frequent the Bellaire location a lot and this new location has the same amazing deal and quality. Apparently they have hot pot too which we didn’t try but will in the future. Staff were more attentive than the other location and very nice. They have a sauce station which was different but I do prefer that.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Handam. The meat selection was good and the kpot was delicious as well. Our waiter was always checking on us and the restaurant overall was very clean. The only thing that I don't really care for is the lack of parking. Other than that, the family had a good time.
Atmosphere 10/10!! Service 10/10! David was our server and he took such good care of us, a party of 6. Our skillet was constantly changed, meat was fresh and plenty. Music was bopping and we just had lots of food and fun with the watermelon Soju! Overall, so fun of a dinner with friends here :)
Best Korean BBQ experience i’ve had in the US by a mile. Went there for a birthday and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The menu and formulas were easy to navigate, the food was mouth watering and the drinks knocked me out of the ballpark with a heavy swing of flavor (Soju Watermelon was a homerun hit!). Our main server, David, made the evening extra special, he was attentive to our needs and a really good sport. Thanks to the Handam team for a great experience, I’m excited to get hungry enough to go back!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Korean BBQ experience I’ve eaten BBQ in many places, and without a doubt Handam BBQ is on another level. From the moment you walk in, the service and attention are outstanding — friendly, professional, and truly welcoming. The food is excellent. The all-you-can-eat BBQ is absolutely worth it. The meat was perfectly cooked every time: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The shrimp were amazing, easily some of the best I’ve had at a Korean BBQ restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. Honestly, this place should be packed all the time. It’s perfect for coming with family or friends — everyone loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere. If you’re looking for top-tier Korean BBQ, this is the place to go. Highly recommended 🔥🥩🍤

Handam is a great addition to the heights and brings something that usually requires a trip to Bellaire much closer. The meat is fresh and the sides are always tasty. However, the one (and major criticism) is their use of a grated grill for all types of meats. While these grills are great for leaner meats, the fattier cuts end up becoming covered in soot as the fat drips and flares up. In Korean BBQ generally different grills are used for fattier and lean cuts. I would highly recommend having these available, as this may actually deter future visits.
We came here pleasantly surprised to have a Korean bbq restaurant out here in the heights. The food was alright at its best. Anything that was marinated just seem to be extremely sweet. The little grill area where you cook your meat was kind of out of control. In just seem like every bit of grease that was touching the flame would cause such a huge reaction from the fire and it was not pleasant. Most of our meat got charred within seconds because of that. The service itself was ok at best. We had two attending to us and the server with the red hair seemed like he had an attitude at every request we were making. The younger server seemed like he was new so I won’t say much. He was nice at the end of the day. Overall just better to go elsewhere. As we were leaving the lady behind the bar was being very sweet to us as well.

I’ve been here before and haven’t had an issue but tonight was terrible. Upon arriving we were okay and after putting in our order, we waited 30 minutes because our waitress forgot and it wasn’t super busy. After saying something it took another 10 minutes easily. We had to leave because we were on time crunch and didn’t expect a 30 minute delay. It ruined my plans for the night and ain’t the cheapest spot. Wish they were more considerate.
Disappointing First Visit to Handam BBQ – Heights Location I was genuinely excited to try Handam BBQ at the Heights after hearing about their recent grand opening, but unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing — both in terms of service and food quality. To start, there’s no designated parking (at least not that we saw), so we were lucky to find street parking nearby. I’d strongly reconsider coming here on a busy night after this frustrating AYCE dinner. We arrived around 6:20 PM and I asked the hostess if we could reserve a table for four at 6:45 PM. She seemed unsure — likely because there’s no clear booking system online (I had checked ahead) nor signage indicating to call ahead. Without much explanation, she stepped away to check with the manager and returned to say they could accommodate us. We stepped out to wait, partly because the front area was cramped and because of the strong weed odor wafting in from someone smoking nearby. At 6:45 PM, we returned and were told our table was being cleaned. Then a party of five walked in and was seated ahead of us. When I brought this up, the manager explained that they prioritize call-in reservations — something the hostess failed to mention. Had I known, I could’ve just called while standing inside. 🚩 We were eventually seated at a tight booth more suited for two. When we sat down, I noticed a hair on my plate (🚩#2) and another dish had a food stain. The waiter promptly replaced them, and we tried to stay optimistic. We chose AYCE Menu B ($35/person) and ordered four meats. Our drinks came (minus the iced teas for our friends, which were only served after a reminder an hour later). Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. One of the banchan dishes — the pink radish — had a hair embedded in it (🚩#3). It was incredibly off-putting. The manager apologized and offered us a complimentary beer (Kirin, which they then said they didn’t have, 🚩#4, so we opted for Terra). The space felt overcrowded — walkways were tight, and there was no call button for staff. They appeared understaffed as well: no water refills, one grill change (none prompted by the wait staff as offered at the Bellaire location), and plates piled up with no one clearing them. We had to wave people down just to get basic service. After our first round of meats took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, our second round never even made it to the kitchen. The server forgot entirely, despite saying she’d check on it (🚩#5). At this point, we were over 2.5 hours in, and the overall experience had become frustrating. Some banchan dishes ordered never came, meat portions were smaller and of lower quality compared to their Bellaire location, and we were crammed the whole time. If you're going to offer an AYCE type dining you need: A functioning reservation system Adequate space per table Reasonable wait times Clean tableware and food Enough staff to handle demand We left feeling like we wasted our time and money and still felt hungry. Sadly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had — and I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone unless significant improvements are made. If you’re not a fan of hair in your food, you're better off dining elsewhere. (We only managed to photograph the hair in the radish dish. The plate with hair was removed and replaced. We declined a replacement for the radish dish for obvious reasons.)
We have been coming to this location ever since it first opened, and we were actually there on opening day. We’ve always enjoyed the food here, and even today the food itself was still good. Unfortunately, today’s experience was very disappointing. We came as a large group and were seated at a long table. Once our food was cooked, we realized there was no sauce provided. We later found out—only after asking our waitress—that we were expected to get our own sauce, which was never communicated to us beforehand. Another issue came up when we received the bill. Our 5-year-old was charged, even though on previous visits we were told that children 6 and under eat free. We are completely fine paying if the policy has changed, but it would have been nice to receive a heads-up. When I politely asked the waitress about it, she spoke to me in a dismissive way, as if I was making it up, which was upsetting and unnecessary. We’ve been loyal customers for a long time, so this experience was disappointing. Better communication and more respectful customer service would have made a big difference.
