We went on Saturday and had such a great experience at Homestead Kitchen and Bar! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfect for a weekend. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the steak Benedict with hash browns and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive and friendly, and everything came out fresh and timely even though it was busy. You can really tell they care about quality and customer experience.
First off the atmosphere and vibe was amazing, it felt very welcoming and the inside/outside of the restaurant was clean. Secondly, the food was off the charts. I got the Rojo Enchiladas with Beef fajita and it felt like they were melting in my mouth with how juicy and tender the meet was. The staff was so gracious and welcoming it felt like I was being served by family. If you haven’t stopped by you should!
The food was absolutely delectable. Everyone enjoyed their order. My coffee was made exceptionally well. I ordered the steak and eggs, to my surprise, it was seasoned really well. The staff members were very accommodating even in the busy atmosphere. I'll definitely revisit soon!!
Stumbled across this place today. Didn’t even know it existed. My mouth was watering as soon as I saw the pictures online so I went for lunch. Because it was lunch I stuck to a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo that was fantastic. I’m from New Orleans so I’m qualified to comment as such. And then I ordered the chef salad. It was fantastic. I can’t wait to go back for dinner and try all the things but also look forward to going back for breakfast or brunch!
Went here with some girlfriends and had an amazing meal! The atmosphere was fun, lively and warm. We enjoyed some unique twists on traditional foods and yummy drinks. We will definitely be back! :)
Food was amazing, very fresh a and full of flavor, omelet was delicious, grits were creamy , chicken was juicy and seasoned , the TX 75 was a great drink
Delicious! Cozy and cute place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! I had the cajun eggs Benedict with crab cakes and it was packed with flavor. Generous serving sizes. The coffee was a dark roast and full-bodied. Great vibe nestled in a little complex full of retail and bespoke eateries. Plan a morning to browse! I'll be back :-)
This a stand out restaurant! They have a killer happy hour. I tend to order the same item when I enjoy the meal. The first thing I had was so good it made me want to try something else. I have tried several menu items and would struggle to recommend one over another. The parking is a bit annoying, but it is well worth the slight inconvenience.
The brunch experience was delightful! The food was exquisite, offering a diverse range of flavors that complemented each other. The mimosas were refreshing and expertly crafted, adding a perfect touch to the meal. The service was attentive, making the overall experience enjoyable. Highly recommended for a relaxing brunch. Brunch isn't brunch without Homestead Kitchen & Bar Added more pictures of some delicious foods, Enjoy! 😀
This restaurant was Fabulous. The food was fresh, delicious. Very well seasoned and an explosion of flavors. Our waiter Luis was very friendly, and a pleasure to talk to. Berrian Quesadilla, Chilaquiles Verdes, Enchiladas Verdes, and the Cookie with Ice Cream were all amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in The Heights area. You will not be disappointed.
This was my 1st visit here. I order a Vanilla Latte, Raspberry Biscuit to start off. OMG!!! That Biscuit is so freaking good! And the Latte is Better than Starbucks!!! I also ordered the Tex-Mex Egg Benedict. It is delicious!! This is a Breakfast food restaurant!! They have a full bar! They also serve Beignets, Churros, Seasonal Bread Pudding, and cookie Skillet. I am definitely coming back!
I tried this restaurant for the all day breakfast and I must say I was impressed by the quality and flavor of the food. I ordered the Cajun crab cake eggs benedict, and it was just as good as described on the menu. The service here was great and my server was friendly. Homestead offers a lot of breakfast options that sound delicious and I can’t wait to try more. If you’re in Houston and looking for an all day breakfast spot, I recommend checking this place out.
Went here on a Wednesday for lunch (about 1230pm) and there was no wait. However, there was only one server attending to all the guests there (about 12 ppl). While the service was slow it was professional and attentive. The price for the amount of food was EXCELLENT! The food was OUTSTANDING!!! Tried the brisket omelet; chocolate banana French toast; pancake flight (3 different pancakes: apple w/ bacon; blueberry; chocolate); biscuits and gravy
My favorite pancakes in Houston! My only complaint is the prices are high enough to be considered a high-end brunch spot but they don't offer freshly squeezed orange juice or a quality brand orange juice. Most other high-end brunch places offer fresh orange juice. Otherwise, great food and service.
We had a very nice breakfast here. It's a beautiful restaurant, I had fajita steak and eggs which were nicely cooked and the restaurant is quite attractive. There are a number of other eating establishments next to this one, but not enough parking ( in my opinion). Fortunately, we had arrived for an early breakfast so the other places were not open yet. No problem for us to park but I wonder how the parking is when all of the businesses are open. However, I did not come to park, so based on the food and atmosphere I do plan to go back for another early breakfast!
The savory items at this place are where it’s AT. Biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, shrimp and grits, potato hash - all extremely delicious. Would go back for these items! The sweet items on the other hand… they all flopped for our table. The pancakes and waffle were tough and the $12 cinnamon roll just didn’t taste good, almost sour. Stick with the savory items here.
Food was great, the restaurant itself is so pretty with a rustic but modern Mexican/ American homey vibe, but the service could have been better. I came with a group of about 8 with a reservation for 1pm, and didn't get seated until 1:45pm, then we didn't get our orders taken until 2:10pm. Also, once we ordered it was like every server disappeared, we had to wave down a bus boy to find our server for condiments and then again for the check. I would definitely come back, I'd just make sure I don't have any time constraints.
Parking. Where this restaurant is located that little mall area is terrible. There’s about 2 parking spots per store. I went on a weekend around 12pm and it was a horrible experience trying to park. With that being said the food was great. I had the Abuelita pancake. It didn’t taste like an overly chocolate flavored pancake. It tasted like a sweet spongy kind of dry pancake. It was one of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. The service was alright. Wait time was about 15 minutes.
Hit this spot up after a nice little bike ride. It’s a nice breakfast brunch spot on a beautiful day. We chose to sit outside but there is inside sitting as well. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. We ordered the traditional eggs Benedict, breakfast hurrache, side of queso and chips and the raspberry stuffed biscuit. The star of my breakfast was the stuffed raspberry biscuit. At first I was a bit disappointed because it was just “topped” and not “stuffed” BUT let me tell you this is not your ordinary biscuit. It’s nice and light kinda cake like but not really. It’s so hard to describe but you will not be disappointed if you order it. I will say ask to see if you can get some of the topping on the side because it would be too tier to have some extra. The eggs Benedict was an eggs Benedict nothing special but both not horrible. The hollandaise sauce was a bit sweeter than I expected but it was a solid Benedict. The breakfast hurrache was good but it was missing something (for me) like maybe a salsa or pick de gallo. It needed some type of zing to it. But this is my opinion but it was a good dish. Overall I would recommend trying this place if I go back I’ll order something different cause I imagine most of the dishes are well rounded. Sooo if you are in the area roll through and give them a taste.
This place is hip. Crowded, but food comes out fairly quickly. The brunch menu looks awesome. It was around 12:30, so we chose lunch. Cobb salad snd Enchiladas Verde with chicken. Rice was great, Verde sauce was some of the tastiest I have had. Big portions, had to take home. Good chicken, wasn't impressed with the charcoal beans, had to decide between that and refried, I would like to try eggs Benedict, saw someone get it and looked great. French fries had a crispy coat on outside, were a little heavy. Would definitely go back to try more items.
We arrived at 11 and it was packed. The acoustics in this place aren’t the best. It’s very loud. There’s seating at the bar, bar tables/high tops, dining tables/low tops, and seating outside. They also have a giant menu. It took me a minute to wrap my head around both sides and all the options. I got the burger. It was delicious, but not cooked medium rare as asked. The French fries weren’t the best and left me unsatisfied. The texture reminded me of In n Out fries when they get cold. The bacon scallion roll was really good and definitely something to order again in the future. My friend enjoyed her pancakes and bacon, too. The service was great considering the amount of things our sever had to do to take care of everyone in our area. We had a very quick breakfast as it was obvious our table was needed and couldn’t take the time to catch up the way we wanted. I think next time I’ll sit on the patio so I can hear my company better and hopefully not feel as rushed to leave.
This is going to be a very mixed review, but I want to say first that the food is excellent so that is not what we weren’t happy with. We had the blackened fish with brussels sprouts and some kind of corn in a sauce, and it was absolutely amazing. Best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. I think the dish was about $35 and we ordered two each, got two glasses of wine each and had an appetizer. I believe our bill was about $178 with tax and tip. When we first walked in, I was pretty surprised because it was a Saturday night and the place was virtually empty at dinner time. They first sat right in front of a speaker they had in which the base and type of music that you would hear at a nightclub and not at a restaurant like this. We asked to be moved, and then I noticed that everyone at the restaurant was seated as far away from the speaker as they could possibly be so I think we weren’t the only people who are not happy with the music choice or how loud it was. it was very inappropriate for a restaurant like this. Our service was bare minimum but not that big a deal. The entire time we were there there was a booth near the bar of young women who has the night went on, got louder and louder, and coincidently the music got louder. Then suddenly they just turned the lights completely out, almost pitch dark and guy walks by with the mop and said, “we closed you need to leave.” No one had come by to give us a warning and the big table of loud people over by the bar was still there so at first, we were a little confused and then we realized the big loud table was all the employees. Not one of them had bothered to come by and politely tell us that the place was about to close and they were going to be shutting down. We had never complained so there was no reason to treat us so rudely. As we walked past the table that was still sitting there as we left they didn’t make one comment test or say have a good night or anything. Clearly they were staying there to party and they had just shut all the lights off so we’d leave. This is just not acceptable for a restaurant that’s expecting for you to pay $15 for the cheapest glass of wine and $35 for an entrée. It’s almost like a really good chef has left a bunch of young teenagers to run his restaurant and he/she isn’t really paying attention to what they are doing or how they were running it. And it’s too bad because the food is really good.
Loved the vibe and our server, David. But the food was not as good as my previous visit. It may have been what I ordered, but my husband didn’t care for his either. Mexican Hot Chocolate- yummy but luke warm; cinnamon roll we ordered for the table - dry and room temperature. More icing or butter to drip down into the roll when it’s hot may work. We ordered a cinnamon roll so healthy is not a concern here; biscuit with bacon gravy - biscuits with unique spice blends don’t pair well with home style grease & flour. May I suggest plain biscuits? ; bacon - tasted “gamey” to me? If it is, please mention so I don’t order a breakfast with meat that I waste. My husband got the chilaquiles and was disappointed with the full sized chips instead of tortilla strips in the dish. Will I eat here again? Probably. The location, the service, and the vibe are awesome. But I will definitely order something like the waffles & fruit that looked delicious on the table next to ours ! And I will come starving because the portions are very hearty!
We tried breakfast with a Bloody Mary. Saying it was meh is one more letter then it deserves. I always try a places basic breakfast first because they don’t nail that, it typically won’t get better. We started with French toast. $13 for two slices of sandwich bread (same thickness). Eh, not a good start. My wife’s Bloody Mary was $14 in a skinny 6oz glass - that had no alcohol in it because was about 3oz of liquid. Not better. I had the homestead classic. Three eggs scrambled, has browns, and bacon. I got their signature cheese and scallion biscuit. Eggs were not seasoned and served on an enormous place. Reheated hash browns and bacon that was reheated in a deep fryer. If that wasn’t enough the biscuit was reheated in a microwave and the as gooey and soft - no crust. No flavor either. My wife’s had a yogurt parfait. Total bill was $61. They didn’t bus our French toast plates. Too many way better places to go for half the money! Bring back Lola!!! It’s a big lose.
Tried this restaurant for the first time on 10/11. Hostess was friendly and the place was clean and well decorated. My friend and I got the chips and queso, southern eggs Benedict and chicken and waffles. The food was well prepared but what made me doubt the place was the service. Our waiter never checked up on us after we received our food. We had to flag him down for water and everything else we needed for our meal. Additionally, there was an error on the bill — one of our items was charged incorrectly. When we brought it to his attention, he seemed dismissive despite my clear explanation of what I had ordered. Don’t know if I’ll be back. Bad service, good food.
It’s been a while since I’ve had bad breakfast food. I was in the mood for something breakfasty that’s not Denny’s or IHOP. I ordered the chicken fried steak that was horrible. The meat was rough and thin and the fried part was soggy. The mashed potatoes tasted like the box mashed potatoes. The chicken and waffles were also not great. The chicken had no flavor and it was cold. The best part was the coffee and the abuelita pancakes.
