The one on 45 north at Crosstimbers knew how to put the cheese on that dog!! Please add more cheese on the dog, one line is not enough lol thanks though!!
I love James Coney Island! I've been eating there since I was a little kid and I still order the classic walker street combo all the way with extra mustard, every time. So very delicious and my absolute favorite place to pick up hot dogs or sliders to go! If you like tangy sauces, ask for the Texas Petal Sauce for your tater tots, you won't regret it!
Manager went above his duties when a car parked too close to my car that I couldn't get in. When we couldn't find who the car belonged to he offered to get in and back it out so i could leave.
Missed JCI dogs still the best hot dogs and taste I have Missed along time. Don't know why they closed most locations and wish they would reopen more locations. Still the best delicious tasty hot dog I've ever eaten
Extremely nice employee I had specific instructions what he made was perfect but the manager made was not what I asked for. I asked for a piping hot grilled hot dog. I ate the tater tots and threw away the hot dog.
Went thru the drive-thru and the workers were very sweet. Service was quick and food was delicious.
Great hot James Coney Island food with a nice clean atmosphere and friendly faces. Haven't had James Coney Island in almost 15 years I'm so glad I decided to stop in and dine. I ate at James Coney Island by 290 and Hollister. Will be coming back very very soon!
One of the last JCI’s. Was craving it, got the hungry man combo, was awesome! JCI has the best hot dogs
Visited this place twice in less than a week. Been missing tha dogs and tha chili.
My husband and I stopped by the Houston Meyerland location this morning just after it opened. About an hour later, after we had finished eating, we left the restaurant. Unfortunately, I had left my 17-inch iPad on our table and I did not realize it until we got home. I phoned the store manager, Mr. Ewin, and he told me the iPad was there. As I drove to the store to retrieve my iPad, I realized I had also left my clutch purse on the table. I called the store again, Mr. Ewin answered again and said the clutch was also there. I could have lost the clutch with my driver’s license, cash and credit cards not to speak of my iPad. But, thanks to Mr. Ewin and the James Coney Island staff, I got everything back. Thank you so much Mr. Ewin, and thank you so much to the James Coney Island Houston Meyerland staff!
Always a classic, always great. Spot on Frito Pie and Coneys (Hot Dogs). Service is excellent. Place is keep clean with dedicated staff. Definitely will come back.
The employees are so friendly here. They greet you with a smile, which is hard to come by nowadays. The dining area and restrooms were clean. The food was fresh.
For my first time eating at this place, it was a pleasant taste in my mouth, everything was simply delicious. The people who serve you were very kind, the diners were frequent customers who enjoy going there to eat. By the way, the prices are super affordable. Everything is really great.
The very best. Never fails to satisfy. 1000000x better than “Trill Burgers”, which usurped the historic s shepherd st location. DO NOT EVER CLOSE THIS LOCATION. EVER! Thank you.
The food here is top notch! Beating out their competitors easily, if they had any. But my favorite has to be the Tamale Dog, it is amazing! Topped with JCI's signature in house chili, it's a meal in it's self. The hamburgers are also very delicious, from the big juicy beefy patty, to the pinch of salt on the tomatoes, it's a taste test experience your sure to to enjoy! In addition to this; they also have an outdoor sitting area, the restrooms are very clean, along with the rest of the restaurant, and the staff is very friendly. It's a easy five stars, I consider this the Hilton of restaurants.
Consistently tasty chili cheese dogs. Music isn't pleasant and it's VERY COLD. We moved away from an AC vent blowing hard on the booths... But were still so chilly.
I ordered food from here at least two or three times since I've been in the hospital and every time I got my food the food has been perfect.. the chili the cheese the onions all mixed well.. chili cheese fries were awesome.. I made a mistake and order from a different restaurant never do that again because I'm still sick.
I love this location! Homemade buttermilk onion rings are fantastic. Freshly prepared as ordered, hot and tasty!
Customer service with excellent the cashier was so super sweet nice and so accommodating the food is so good
1 st time getting hot dogs in this chain of restaurants………they’re AWESOME AND DELICIOUS HOT DOGS 🌭 definitely I will recommend 💯,plus they service and employees are great 👍 good job guys .
JCI..... Where can I start? I love the hot dogs. I have not tried the hamburger so wish to one day but when I come to James Coney Island it's all about the hot dogs for me I get two cheese coneys all the way with extra onion and a drink. My go-to for many years. When I go back into my car and smell the aroma it's wonderful after I tried to get the mustard out of my fingernails very it's great. Even down to the last burp still tasting wonderful. I wish they had not small and the hot dog buns and weiners, but I guess you got to do what you got to do. Great place to take the family as well
Came in randomly on a trip that took me through Houston. This is my hometown, and a lot has changed, but the coney's stay the same goodness they have been for the 30+ years I've had them. Completely by accident I stumbled on a 99 cent coney day, and boy was it packed. But, line moved fast, my order came up in relation fast and tables were being cleaned and bussed on the fly, so when I got my order I had a clean table to enjoy my favorite of chili cheese coney's with a side of chili cheese fries in relative peace. James Coney Island is a religion in my family, but as years go by the locations reduce, but the flavor never changes. Thank you for making my trip awesome through my beloved birth city. No bias, try a James Coney Island coney if you can. I suggest the chili cheese fries if that's more your style. :)
At least once a month, I have to go to my (JC) James Coney Island in the heart & historical Meyerland Plaza location. As always I request... Onions and my 🌭 Hotdog bun BE very steamed, so that it can stay warm to the last bite. "Good News!" Said, (Ast Mgr) Mr. Erwin, "JC now put their chopped onions in a small cop. This helps achieve - our customer's food orders; desired temperature much longer. Please let JC know; were we able to achieved your requested desires." Indeed - Indeed! My taste buds are still dancing with delight. JC your strategy with the cold/fresh onions; upon keeping them on the side in a cup, and not on top of the food. A simple strategy, but made a huge difference. Especially picky customers like myself. JC you're the best! Thanks also, Mr. Cooper (Mgr) Until then, Ms. Tj Baker
With all of the JCI closing, it scares me to think about losing this store as well. It’s never really busy when I go but there is never anything to complain about out when I go. The service is quick and they’re friendly, it’s not overpriced, the ingredients are super consistent, and it’s a Houston staple. Cleanliness in a a given when I come here.
I have always loved the staff and service at this JCI! Management is on point all the time, and I see smiles on the faces of the staff!
Love their classic hot dogs. There are many different options.
James Coney never disappoints- I sure hope this location goes on forever. Not sure how many are left in Houston, I know there aren't anymore on my side of town. But back to my review :0). Employees were friendly and service was great. The place was clean. Food was on point, really hit the spot. The only thing I can sort of complain about is location and only because it's not near home but certainly worth the drive. Bring the family out and enjoy some delectable hot dogs. The burgers are delicious too.
It's a hot dog spot... You're not getting the highest quality food for your body. But you are getting some really tasty and greasy fast food. If you've never been, it's worth the try. Add a Delaware punch, a chilli cheese, Coney dog all the way, and a hot dog... These are some of the must fries.
We need to keep places like these by supporting them with business. I have never had a bad exp here at this location. Food and service are wonderful, parking lot which they have no control over needs some work by HPD patrolling the area better
My first time at this location. It is clean, the staff were friendly, and the service is fast. I had the new Tommy's triple special that comes with three chili dogs, tots and a drink. They had a football game on the tvs and there were a lots of people coming in for a quick bite to eat. The food was great I enjoyed the game and the only thing missing was an ice-cream cone. But I had enough to eat and I was working so maybe next time.
Just went through their drive thru and was very impressed. It was my first time at JCI in a long time. The lady at the window was very attentive to my order and wait time. I also saw how the staff interacted through the window and saw the staff insuring my order was correct. I got the Texas hot dog and the onion rings, both made fresh and delicious!
Fewer locations but still worth the drive. Caught the July 31st Coney Sale. Place was packed, huge lines both inside and in the drive thru. We went in, took about 5 minutes in line before ordering. Sign said up to 20 minute wait but we had our 8 coneys and order of tator tots in about 7 minutes. The coney's are delicious and the prices was right. Enjoy & Bon Appetit!! 😋 😋
I don't think there are many James Coney Islands left around Houston. My dad's was Walker Street and our family go-to was Town & Country in Spring Branch. In honor of my dad, I went looking for one yesterday, and wound up at the JCI Grill in Meyerland Plaza. Parking was plentiful and this could be combined with other things in the area. Brii was the counter girl helping me, and she was on point. She even evaluated what I wanted and suggested a better way to do it! My chili cheese coneys were up and ready by the time I got my Coke poured from the drink station! As for the taste, if you are a sentimentalist? Great news! They were exactly 💯 as I remember them being. Chili cheese coneys with mustard. Buns, condiments, everything was to memory. The restaurant was clean, as were the restrooms. Grill back staff seemed to have a great rapport, shift manager was friendly. Apparently they still do catering and even DoorDash now. Highly recommended.
The place is delicious and always great! Had the Frito pie, always delicious and plentiful for two people. The beans make it extra delicious and don't forget the chili pepper sauce at the table. Staff is very friendly and helpful! When you hear you have to have the chili cheese coneys the classic! And don't forget the tater tots, better than the fries. Wish there were more JCIs around town! A true Houston classic institution!
I decided to 🚏 stop 🛑 here for lunch 😁, Bring 🔙so many great memories when I was 🚸kid, my favorite # is walker st , my very first time visiting JCI was downtown on walker st location, I'm not 🙀 about their 🚻 was very clean 🫧 as well at this location, the cashier name is Kenya very pleasant and very professional, the manager 😊 name is Miguel very nice person, so was Jesus is one of the cooks, wow I was totally surprised 🤯 that they still sales the footlong 🌭, the last time I had one 🕐🕜 was in Las Vegas last year but I known at this location have great amount people my age ( senior citizens ) visit this location made me feel much more better see 👀 them here as well, one the lady I know she had the long foot hot 🌭,she said something ironic bring back memories when she was a child 🚸 as well, she said she's 74 years old.oh (only this was the restroom 🚻 sink had very very low water 🌊💦 pressure .)
boy they are pricey. it's a little too much for dogs even if they are called gourmet. but quality is good, just right. place was clean, service took a reasonable amount of time to gather our order. fries were freshly fried but a tad undercooked to my taste. meat patties taste great, hot dogs too. buns were fresh and were a good soft bite. They made an effort on cleaning our table progressively and refill drinks which gives a huge + in terms of service. it was my first time and i liked it.
The food here is usually great! The service though is slow. They got my drink wrong today, seemed to be really confused. I do love there patty melts though!
Seems like you'll kind of hold back on the chili for the Original Coney Island hot dogs. Buns are pretty solid and when you bite into them, they are pretty dry and tasteless. Little Bit More chili, not extra, would probably solve the problem. Just saying...🤔😊 Also, onion rings could be cut a little bit more wider. They remind me of shoe strings.
I loved some James Coney island but this time, the hot dogs were not hot. I definitely recommend that they keep the hot dogs temperature hotter. If not offered to throw them in the microwave
I had the best experience at James Coney Island, the cashier was very kind and friendly. I mistakenly and unknowingly ordered hot dogs that contained pork and noticed once I had the food with me. I went to the cashier and he brought the manager and told him I didn’t know and that it was my mistake and he said not to worry and he fixed my food for me. Very kind people. The restrooms were very clean as well! 10/10. Gave 4 stars because it was a bit pricey but I experienced exceptional customer service.
The staff is friendly and the facility is clean and up to date. We had not had a James' since the store in Stafford closed. What a treat to finally have a coney and a bowl of chili, with a Coney Punch. The food hasn't changed very much over the last few years, which is nice.
I went at lunch time and the service was still fast and my food was warm and appetizing. I recommend the Chicago style dog. The James cheeseburger is so thick & juicy, plus stacked high with veggies, my teenager could hardly get his mouth around it. Also, I really love the Delaware Punch it's very nostalgic and brings back good memories of childhood.
The Chicago dog they have is pretty legit. The chili cheese coney is tasty but, having lived in Michigan for many years (the home place of the coney), it definitely isn’t a real coney. Prices are a bit steep too. I tried ordering a Seattle style hotdog but found out they didn’t have it on the menu anymore so that was disappointing.
Okay guys so here is the deal... There is never a huge crowd so you can order your food and get out in reasonable time. The orders are made fresh but the kitchen leaves much to be desired... It's a much better choice than the McDonald's across the street but less healthy than the Chik fil A in the parking lot on the opposite side. This place is great for kids but beware... It's a touch expensive so if you have a lot of kids go on payday. Two hungry adults will spend about $30 so if this is a date go to Russo's Italian Pizza so you will feel better about it. Anyway, the restrooms are clean depending on the crowd and they have BEER!!!!! Overall if you want to eat bad but not feel so bad about about it, than try not to look at the healthy freaks at the Smoothie King in front of you and gooble up a few hot dogs... You won't feel too terrible about it.
Went thru the drive-thru but the person in front of me exchanged both food and drinks. Took awhile to service the person in front of me.
This is a treat for my toddler for onion rings and corn dogs. I had a cup of chili and chili dog and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My only reason for deducting a star is because the salt and pepper shakers were sticky and so was the edge (grooved sides) on the tables on multiple tables. It was busy though.
I have to admit that I found the service quite rude. I was simply waiting at the window for the cup of ice I asked for and the Manager said that I went past the time limit. I was waiting for them really and I truly don't know why he had to be so rude.
I was at Meyerland Plaza and decided to eat at this JCI Grill. The restaurant is clean with a nice contemporary dining room and big screen TVs. I like the Chicago hot dog. I was a little disappointed the thickness of the hot dog. Years ago when JCI Grill was named James Coney Island, the hot dogs were thicker and tastier.
Has anyone noticed that they no longer fill your hot dog and overload it with chili and cheese. It's just not enough anymore. And the hot dogs are smaller. I still enjoy my chili n cheese hot dog but please fill them up. It used to drip out.
The chili cheese dog was small and served lukewarm. The patty melt had a pleasant aroma from the well-toasted rye bread, but the patty felt undersized for the bread and didn’t really stand out. I also ordered a large chili cheese fries, though the portion appeared quite small and was difficult to distinguish from a regular size. The receipt was not provided; however, the pickup number from the receipt was still called. Otherwise, the service was satisfactory. Overall, the portions did not align with expectations, and I don’t see myself returning.
I come here once or twice a month. They’re one of the last ones around. Their food is still good but now that Portillo’s is here in Houston, I no longer need to come here to get my Chicago dogs. When it come to a Chicago dog you have to be consistent. The celery salt can’t over power the hotdogs. (see the picture) Again, they’re good but not consistent. Try them first for yourself to have your own mind but I’m now going to Portillo’s after today. I mean having poured what felt like all this celery salt they had on my dog today was the last straw. This is $15… $4 more dollars and I’m at Pappas. No good. My blood pressure is humming and I hate that because it’s a good spot just inconsistent and sometimes they start speaking Spanish as if to joke about the specific details in your order amongst each other.
My son wanted to take me for lunch and try something new. The hotdogs were little. The serving was miniature for maximum dollars. Never again. My son said there were so many onions on the hot dog he couldn't taste anything else.
The staff was playing around while we were ordering. Very unprofessional. I talked to the manager on duty. He stated that the staff was new. They forgot to include my Chicago dog in my order. When I entered the JCI, I was wondering why it was empty. Now I know.
The food was great! However, whoever was working the drive thru window clearly was having a horrible day. She messed up our order and her attitude was so bad that we just accepted the incorrect order so we could get away from her. I don’t think I’ve ever had customer service that bad.
I ordered a Hungry Man Combo, My fries felt like they were overcooked- hard, drop back in grease and cook again. My bread was toasted my beef hot dog was Luke warm not hot at all
My cousin and I drove all the way from Austin to Houston to visit JCI. We visited the Meyerland location on July 17, 2025 at about 2:30 PM. We were extremely disappointed by the Coney Island hotdogs. The franks were thinner and smaller than I remember, the chili, onions, and cheese, usually OVERFLOWING the top of the bun, were just “staining” the bun. You could actually see the skinny, yucky looking little frank nestled inside the bun. I’ve loved JCI for over 50 years. If these changes are permanent, I will say goodbye to a lifetime love. Terribly disappointing.
hotdogs was hard, buns were stale, food was cold but other than that it was fantastic.
Long time JCI fan, grew up eating JCI since the 2 story Sharpstown location. Food was great service was good but the restaurants customer dining area was absolutely FILTHY. Every table, nearly every seat and every booth trashed, either hardly wiped with chili and grime still on the tables and many chairs just sticky, stained and trashed. We had a hard time finding anywhere clean to sit and eat. Even the tile walls have soda and chili stains splashed on them. Floors haven’t been scrubbed or cleaned in who knows how long. There’s an old saying in restaurants I learned a long time ago: If the dining room is dirty, then the kitchen and food prep areas are even worse. Trust me when I say it’s best to avoid this location and eat somewhere cleaner. Unfortunately, I won’t be eating at this JCI location again for a long time. 2 stars for good food, at a dirty table.
I ate here for the first time on 8/8/2022. I ordered the James cheeseburger combo with French fries. I asked for my food to be made fresh and my fries were served hot. The employee working the window was nice. The burger was bland and nasty. The patty was a weird rubbery texture with no seasoning that was hard to chew and swallow. It didn’t taste like any beef I’ve ever had. The pickle slices were way too thick for the burger. The bun was stale and weirdly cold. I paid a total of $11.25 after tax. I only went here because I was very hungry while running errands in the area. I don’t plan to return.
My husband went to James Coney in Meyerland, bought me 2 coney without hotdogs, only chili n cheese. When I opened the bun, there was a lot of black dots in the chili, just a lil chili, but covered in what looked like black pepper, which we did not ask for, or Maybe it was burnt grill scraping? It looked disgusting....🧐 Weve always enjoyed James Coney, but it seems like the quality is just not there any more? Sad😒
Old enough to remember the good hot dogs. Weiners they use now are tuff & blah. The only thing that's stayed the same is fresh steam bun. Onion rings had no flavor & sliced too thin. Mostly empty but staff checked for cleanups anyway. Very clean inside
The ONLY thing(or person) who made my visit here not so pleasant was the cashier at the drive-thru window. Short when she took our order and did not greet when we approached the window, she just opened the window and stood there, looking at us until we said something. There's not too many JCIs left in Houston and had it not been for the close proximity to my home, I wouldn't revisit.
I've been coming here since I was a kid. Great burgers and hotdogs but today was disappointing. When I asked for lemons/limes to go with my water, they gave me one slice of lime and cut it in two....like to pass it off as more than it was. Sheesh, at least give me more than one piece of lime. I ordered the Greek salad and the chicken in it was overcooked and it came with ONE black olive. I think a salad should have more than one olive in it. Also the tray it came on was dirty. These are very basic things that they are supposed to do, and they messed it up. So I find their service careless and stingy. Restaurants and businesses need to understand that what they are doing is not being nice or doing anyone a favor, or doing anything for free. Customers are PAYING for the food. Give people what they are paying for.
Honestly the worst coney place I’ve ever been to. Nothing authentic about it. The AA woman working the window was rude from the moment I pulled up. When I ordered the coney she didn’t tell me that it came with nothing on it so when I got my order I was confused and she gave me attitude about not knowing their order process. When I finally got the order corrected the actual hot dog was extremely tiny, the “chili” meat didn’t look like there was any real meat in it, and everything just tasted bland. I would never recommend or visit this place again. I don’t know how it has as many positive stars as it does.
I am here right now. Stood there for over 5 minutes and they didn't even acknowledge my existence. Like....terrible service. Didn't even act like i was standing there!!! I had my mask on. Had cash in hand. Nothing. At least say give us a few minutes. Something. Never again. They aren't even busy.
Edit: Just went back today at 3/8. Stood at the counter for 5 minutes while the manager looked outside. Then my order magically popped up. Just terrible service. Assist the customer when they stand at the counter, not when you're required to by a timestamp. I've been going to JCI with my family since I was 7. Now almost 40. My Grandfather used to tell me stories about taking the trolley downtown for a .05 cent frito pie. That's how long my family has been supporting your business. This Meyer store is the worst experience I've ever had in the drive through. I actually came home, put the food in the fridge and wrote this review. It took 30 minutes just to take my order. Then I waited another 30 just to get my order. I watched through the window, there is 0 sense of urgency at this location. The guy in front of my had to pull up, and then they told me to pull up. Put the weiner in the bun, chili, cheese, next. What are we talking about here? Just terrible customer experience. So sad to see standards slip like that where everyone just does the bare minimum and I receive a lesser product because of it. We all lose.
I've been going to James Coney Island since the 1970's when I worked downtown and then in the various outlying locations since. I had always been pleased with the food items, and service whether I ate in, or took out. However, since the only one left, which is not close to me, I decided to go once again. I arrived before the busy lunch crowd arrived and it was the worst food I've ever gotten from this restaurant. The hot dogs were not hot, the chili sauce tasted burned and looked to be from the day before or longer. Since I got this food to go, I didn't notice any of this until I got home. I took about 2 bites and threw the rest out. I couldn't even finish it, it was that bad. I doubt if I will go back here again, despite the other options that are available besides the hot dogs. I'm very disappointed as I've been going here for many decades. Granted they aren't the same as back then, but you can really tell the quality is no longer a priority. I think they were sold a long time ago but honestly how difficult is it to make a hot dog? Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
They're just a mess in the Meyerland JCI. First I went to order. I specifically said no onions! Got home, nothing but onion all over my dog. I call and go back this time no cheese on my chili CHEESE dog. So I put my own cheese. Fast food management and the people that work there are getting dumber every year. So tired of these places that can't get it done and done right. WTF?
Edit: I just tried the chili and it was bland and was mostly grease. I even tried putting crackers and cheese but didn't help. What a waste of $17 plus tax. Ok on this visit it was same old service. Had a new girl on the register and just glad I got the correct hotdogs but damn I order 2 XL chili's asked for the works beans, onions and cheese which we have to pay for now and got home no beans & no onions.
🤮🤮🤮OMG 😳. I ordered a burger 🍔 combo. And it was DISGUSTING. WORST burger I've ever had in my life. ‼️‼️‼️I'm not sure what kind of meat that was but, it wasn't beef. Maybe Kangaroo 🦘 meat or something. It was hard and very, very dry. It tasted old like it been sitting out as well. I'll just stick to the hot dogs. I threw my whole meal in the trash. Fries were not the greatest either.
It's a restaurant that sells hotdogs. Cheaply processed my coworkers enjoyed it but I know too much about food to appreciate the bottom of the barrel byproducts served here. Bar-S hotdogs taste better and that's the cheapest I find in the store near me. No way will I be going back
Dirty, every single inch of the place. The floor haven't been mopped, the walls are smeared and have stains, the seats are all filthy, every single table is dirty, the ice machine has white slime gathering around it. The place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in several months. Do not eat here under any circumstances at all whatsoever! You've been warned!
I came here today after work since it is close by my job and was very disappointed, I came home to find my order completely wrong. And I understand humans make mistakes, no big deal, but it was the managers response when I called that was upsetting. He tells me I should have checked my order and that I would have to come back tonight to have my food remade or refunded or nothing could be done. After explaining to him that I live over 30 minutes away from this location he again reiterated that I should’ve checked the order and that nothing could be done also stating I should have read “The big sign” and checked my order. I will not be returning here again.
My hot dogs were nuke in the microwave and I don’t appreciate that. For $11 you should at least make it worth it. When you put buns in the microwave for to long it make the buns hard as a rock while you drive home. I want to add this picture but no one will ever eat here. I know I won’t ever be back. That just ruined my love for chili dogs. I’ve had better from a food truck.
I have been frequenting this location for MANY years, and this is the first time I have had such a terrible experience. However, today was horrible because of an incompetent employee who incorrectly took my order AND the incredibly rude, obnoxious, and aggressive person with whom I spoke when I asked to talk to the manager to correct the problem. I ordered (literally) "three naked hot dogs"--hot dogs and buns ONLY--among other items, to go. When I got the food home I found that I had been given three "original Coneys" that come with onions, chili, and mustard. We tried to call the restaurant to let them know I was coming back for the correct food but they did not pick up the phone. I took the food back and demanded to speak to the manager. He was rude and confrontational and said that I got exactly what I ordered, pointing to the receipt. I told him that what was written on the receipt was NOT what I ordered and repeated what I had told the man who took my order. He told me that he couldn't do anything to help me and that it was all my fault, that I was served what I ordered. We got into an ugly argument. Eventually he gave me the "three naked hotdogs" but refused to give me a refund or any consideration for the fact that I had to drive back to the restaurant so that my son could have his lunch before he went to work. I was so late getting home with the correct food that my son was NOT able to eat before he left. I asked this rude and unprofessional man if he owned the restaurant, or if he was a franchisee, and he refused to answer. I have NEVER had a manager at ANY restaurant behave so rudely or be so uncooperative under similar circumstances. I wish I had gotten his name...but I intend to call JCI Corporate Headquarters and report his behavior. They should be able to ID him by the time of my visit and the description I will provide. In the meantime, I suggest either avoiding the place altogether OR making sure that what you ordered is what appears on the receipt--and if it's a take-out order, that what they give you is what you ordered BEFORE you leave the restaurant. The food is good, but it is WAY too overpriced. Three "naked" hot dogs (meat and buns ONLY) cost $9.57!!!
I grew up in Houston eating at James Coney Island downtown on Walker St. There, you would order a hot dog "all the way" including cheese with the chili sauce overflowing out of the bun; with a tablespoon portion of finely chopped onions. The hot dog meat was a normal size like you would buy in the grocery store (similar to an Oscar Meyer brand hot dog). Plump and juicy. Over the years, James Coney Island has reduced their meat portion in size (diameter) where there is barely even a "hot dog" in the bun. It is similar to a Slim Jim sausage stick. When I received my Chili Cheese Coney with onions, I was surprised how small the chili sauce and onion portion was on the bun. They get by with as little product as possible. When I requested addtional chili sauce on my hot dog, the reply I received was "there will be an additional charge." Seriously? Look at this once famous hot dog today. This is an embarrassing product Legacy is putting out there. It's drier than a West Texas dust storm.
