Opinions de JJ Garden Restaurant Houston
I absolutely love this place. I'm just trying their food right now with my fam and we love it. Better than any other place I've tried. The food is just perfect and delicious. Not too fried, not too big or small, and too outrages. The egg rolls and wonton soup is delicious. I'm ordering from this place again and recommending this place to everyone I know
The food was delicious! I recommend checking your to go order before leaving. I paid for extra broccoli only to realize I wasn’t given extra when I arrived home. The food was so good though!
GREAT FOOD..not a lot of MSG..Cook fresh, waitstaff is friendly. Location is small but comfy. It is packed during lunch. Fast to go take out.
To start off, the employees were very patient and Respectful when I was ordering. In addition the food felt like there was love put into it, finally the place felt very welcoming and cozy.
Delicious pretty authentic dishes for a very reasonable price. The lunch specials were such a deal, coming with your choice of soup, rice, egg roll or spring rolls, and a very hefty entree! We had the eggplant and garlic sauce and the green beans, which were both pretty authentic (I lived in China for a few months and definitely reminded me of the food there.)
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The food is Always amazing and worth the price. We have only got our order as takeout so far and the portions & quality are great! The Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso Chicken are our favorites along with the Lo Mein and their unique cheese puffs (crab puffs on menu)! Definitely 💯 our go to place :) Enjoy!!!
We love JJ Garden. Their food comes ultra fast via delivery and is equally enjoyable in the restaurant. It isn't a fancy place, which I appreciate. Prices are good, food is fresh, people are welcoming.
Don’t let the modest decor and “order at counter” approach fool you, the food is excellent. Served hot, with super fresh tasting veg. Soups and egg rolls also great. (Salad roll not as good). Food was on the table ridiculously fast after ordering.
Their food is soooo delicious I’m from Chicago and we have some pretty good Chinese food restaurants so it’s been hard here in Houston to even touch Chinese food because it falls short on taste and quality in many places that I’ve been to, but this place has it beat on all levels, great customer service and very helpful in helping you decide what to eat based on your preferences, rather it’s spicy, sweet, mild or just extra flavorful they’ll help you find a good dish .. I myself had their crab Rangoon and general tso’s chicken cause I like more of the sweet and spicy type foods and it was nothing short of amazing I would say it’s almost addictive lol I’ve been their two times now and I live in cypress so that means I have to drive all the way across town to get it but it’s overly worth the drive in my opinion. Oh and their wonton soup is soooo stellar literally the best I’ve ever had so just overall A+ service and food
Not bad for a small quiet family running restaurant. The food was great and filling. Staff is great, place is clean, and it's usually not busy here. Which is good, if you want to chill with your bro and eat some delicious grub. Been coming here since 2015 place is legit.
Food is always reliable, plentiful amounts, quickly delivered. Great Chinese takeaway. It’s an older local place, so the dining room isn’t fancy or shiny new, but comfortable if you want to eat in.
Great food every time. BEST chicken anything. Their chicken is always crunchy! Great sauces. Enjoy the remodeling but miss the old homey field. Great lunch specials. Love to order take out and enjoy the customer service when dining in. Closed on Saturdays
Discovered this place a few weeks ago while staying in from covid, and love it. Have been ordering at least once a week! No delivery charge just order $15 minimum and you don't have to go through grub hub, etc. The general tsos is amazing, rice is always perfect, and the food is always filling! Really good prices and always super nice when they deliver! Very happy we discovered this place and will keep coming back!
So, living in the Northeast US, I don't typically go for Chinese food when I'm in Texas :-) But, my wife had a craving, so after checking out reviews of options near us, I chose JJ Garden for take-out. I was surprised by how good it all was. Egg rolls, spring rolls, beef fried rice and chicken with cashew nuts, each item delicious and well-prepared with fresh, tasty ingredients. Honestly just as good as anything I would expect from a Chinese restaurant in New York or New Jersey!
My wife and I have been coming here for the past 4 years since moving to the area. The chicken and broccoli with spicy garlic sauce is delicious. They are fast and very polite with both quick delivery and pickup. Highly recommended!
Have been looking for a new Chinese restaurant and I think I found it! Very friendly people. The food was amazing, tasted fresh . Husband is in love with the spicy green beans!!! I would recommend this place to everyone!
I have to say this is a excellent Chinese restaurant. Great quality on the food. Fresh sesame chick, so delicious. Since many restaurants changed a lot on the price from COVID, they still have the great price. An extra dollar on lunch is reasonable. Great service always. Nice place and will be back all the time.
The best review is the 1 not ask for/ ohh Gold Star place! 1 when I walked in /it was very clean and neat not messy /I look for very clean place like this! 2 I did not order it was walk in and order to go less than 10 minutes ready! 3 I got the General Tsos Chicken/ peppers were fresh crispy/chicken fresh /broccoli fresh/ sauce was perfect not runny cream puffs emmm This place is on my list now for sure Try it!
I've been eating here regularly for 5 years now. The food tastes great, it's not very greasy/unhealthy, affordable menu and the service/delivery is quick. They do have a very loyal customer base.
Trying to escape back out of town from NRG traffic after a Texans win over Steelers and remembered this place that we never had been to. OMG really great flavors and sauces with every dish. Everyone was happy and full during the 3 hour trip back home. We'll stop again next trip! Give them a try 😉
They are open for dining in and we enjoyed a couple lunch specials. My wife had the happy family with beef, chicken and shrimp, it was loaded with veggies. I went with the General Tso's chicken and it was spicy so sharing wasn't an option since my wife doesn't like much spice, I loved it. We both enjoyed our choice of wonton soup, and an egg roll. We've ordered delivery from here and really loved it so it was a no brainer to visit, glad we did, we have a new favorite in the immediate area.
Fantastic Houston gem! Very yummy food, super clean establishment, fast service, our food was served piping hot, staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive! Great value! Highly recommend!
Me and my sister wanted to try this place and instantly got obsessed! We’ve tried everything and it’s all super fresh and hot plus super delicious 😩 our personal favorite is the spicy tangy chicken with steamed rice the chicken is all white meat and the sauce is so addicting. 10/10 recommend definitely my favorite place to eat I constantly crave it 😋
Super delicious and best Chinese I’ve had in the Meyerland area. Ordered to go and the food came very well prepared and the portions are huge.

You can literally order anything here and it will be delicious. I never knew General Tso can taste this good. It is also such a cozy and inviting place.
This was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The food was delicious, the service was incredible, and the owner was one of the kindest people I've ever met. The food came quickly, and don't even get me started on the taste. I only have one word for this restaurant. Phenomenal.
Amazing. Just Amazing. The Owner was extremely generous with servings and very kind. The service was fantastic and couldn't have been better. The atmosphere was perfect, made me feel as if I was truly in China. Don't even get me started on the food. It was exemplary, everything about it, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Will most definitely come back.
Excellent Chinese food, the eggplant 🍆 dishes are my favorite. There is a sit down dining room with self service, so there is no tipping. You will not be interrupted by the staff while you are dining. This is a very quiet dining room.
The food is delicious and the staff is very polite and friendly. I love that the place is quiet and calm even when full. You can have a conversation while enjoying the food.

So far this is my favorite Chinese place. I’ve tried a few others and the flavor is off. I usually start off by trying my favorite dishes first like Generals Chicken, and egg rolls . Very good here by the way. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like I got more food eating in than take out. But I could be wrong. Customer service is pretty good. No one has been rude. Try it out. It does get busy at lunch so if you work you might want to order ahead of time.
JJ Garden was just about a decent experience and it looks nicer from the outside. When you walk inside, you walk straight through the majority of the tables on the way to the register. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does inhibit the space of others eating. The menu is put well together and is priced appropriately and so I'll award credit for that. I ordered the Tangy and Spicy Chicken, and it was that, but the taste was faint and at least to me it was not spicy. With that entrée comes both a soup and a egg roll or spring roll. I got the hot and sour soup and a spring roll. The soup was not watery but it also wasn't the most flavorful, and so as a result I'll dub it a "solid" soup. The spring roll was better than the soup and I would also describe it as solid, but it's also very basic and I could call it mass produced. In regards to the food I might be a bit biased, but this is still just an opinion. The last note I'll add is on the service. The food came out within 10ish minutes of being order and was hot. All and all, I'd recommend this only to those residing near it and those looking for a quick and cheap lunch meal.
Tried their combo fried rice - it was on the papery side but not greasy. The protein was on the overcooked side.

Food was good, however, chicken and beef cut thin. From what I could see, the cooks were Chinese which is a plus if most dishes including sauces are made in-house. Waiter was kind and humble.
I had an order to go, good food. The portion size could be better. Most similar restaurants give you more.

I was tricked by the previous reviews. The food is not good. It was greasy and lacked flavor. The food tasted like a frozen microwave meal. The wait time was long for what turned out to be a very lackluster meal. For the same price point, there are much better restaurants selling the same cuisine.
The food was excellent but I was not impressed with the experience. The restaurant had a nice seating area with booths and tables. There was a register at the back and a sign that said “order here”. It looked more like it was set up for take out. We weren’t greeted by the person who worked there, even thought they were right in front of us. We finally realized that we did need to go to the register to order, got a menu, placed our order and paid. I was directed to a counter to get my water and saw that there were also utensils so I grabbed some. Our soup was brought our table, quickly followed by the main course. I asked about duck sauce and was again directed to the counter where the the water and utensils were kept, this time on the top shelf. We ordered Happy Family and Garlic Chicken with Eggplant and upsized for $3 each to get soup, egg roll and rice. The food was very tasty and hot but I thought it was pricy considering the lack of ambience and attention.

Clean establishment, decent service, but the food was very bland. The ingredients seem okay, but the lack of seasoning left me really disappointed.
I gave this place a try and the wonton soup was lacking flavor but I can see it as a good option for the elderly. The service is my biggest concern I ordered delivery and before I even got my food I was TOLD about a tip. Totally unprofessional and made it easy for me to leave NOT A DIME IN TIPS. At the very least give the person their food first and then ASK!
Nothing special about the food, staff was kinda rude. I noticed that the staff were more welcoming to certain races while others got just the basic treatment. Also, what's the point of leaving a tip if you have to get your own tea, condiments and to go containers/bag? I probably won't be returning.
My usual Chinese spot is closed on Tuesday. So I gave JJ’s a try. Haven’t been in years. I order the Sesame Beef and a Vegetable Fried Rice. Get my order and I’m off home. I take the sesame beef dish out the bag and think to myself it seems a little light then what I’m use to. I open the container and to my dismay I see 9 pieces of beef. About the size of a half dollar coin. Some pieces were smaller. To say I was upset is putting it mildly. I paid $16 for this dish. I know grocery prices are up but damn. I felt like I was shortchanged. Saving grace was the food was actually good.
General chicken and orange chicken are the worst Chinese food I ever had. The meat is dry inside, the source is too spicy with un-natural ingredients (taste).
I ordered the shrimp fried rice on Uber Eats because it had a bunch of five star reviews for that dish specifically, but on the menu it says it comes with jumbo shrimp and it doesn't, it's baby shrimp, however… My main complaint is that it just didn't taste good. The rice was a little bit undercooked and you can tell they used a bunch of white pepper because it has that distinct smell and taste and that's really the only flavor I was getting was from the white pepper and there was barely any egg either.

I was a costumer for 3 years now and always order the same plate with 2 spicy sauces which I used to get at no charge. One time I ordered 2 meals asked for 3 sauces and wanted to charge me for them. I find it ridiculous that they rather loose a regular costumer and charge extra. I will take my business elsewhere. Also, one time I saw the person at the counter refuse service with someone with a service dog. Isn't that illegal?
Open on Christmas day ~ I ordered Edamame which was good, then had the orange chicken with broccoli. ONLY 2 small pieces of broccoli, no orange slices & the chicken was dry and chewy for total of $24 dollars, it’s not worth it.
**** UPDATED REVIEW. Below was my previous review. Since Covid, the restaurant has gone downhill fast. They now charge extra for soup on their lunch combo, but the worst part is the quality of the food and portion size. I recently visited and got terrible food poisoning! Since it was mainly vegetables, I would guess it was bad eggs. If you look at the restroom, that is how clean the kitchen is, NOT. The food is quite good. The service is another thing. I've been there 3 times now, and I always seem to get the same man waiting on me. He never acknowledges anything and never says thank you you're not sure you got to order the right items because he doesn't read it back to you he just grabbed your menus and departs quickly from your table. it'd be nice to get some feedback and know that he understood what we ordered as well as saying something
I ordered Friday and I was really disappointed when I got home with my take out. They charged me dinner price and served me lunch portions. I ordered 2 orders of chicken egg rolls ( I got veggie ) and they were over cooked and greasy. The sesame chicken was very dry and was not fresh.it was very hard, kinda like it had been under a heat lamp all day. I used to order a while back, not sure why my order was so messed up. I figured after getting new menu in the mail that business was prolly slow. So, I wanted to support a local business. I also asked for 3 chili oils and the lady only wanted to give me 2, and that was after leaving a $4. tip. I thought about calling but not sure how it would change anything. $36 for one entree and 2 appetizers.
We have been coming here and ordering over $60.00 for two people for months. We needed a bowl of rice, and the owner said it was an extra $2.00 dollars. Guess what l’ll never go there again!
Forgot to take a picture of my food to post. I ordered the chicken and vegetables, lunch special and opted for a spring roll and egg drop soup. The food tasted terrible and tasted like they cooked everything in the same old pot in pan for years no flavor. It was gross. The egg drop soup was gross.. I asked for the crispy chips that usually come with The soups, but I was then told they charge a dollar a bag. I thought that was odd because every time I eat at a Chinese restaurant the crispy chips always come with the soup. Plus, the service was terrible. A waste of $15 do not waste your time here.
