I worked over 20 years in this area, didn't even know this places existed. Walked in, nice and clean place. Staff was very friendly and was acknowledged as soon as I walked in. Got a loaded bake potato with brisket. The smoked bacon wrapped jalapeños is a must try!! It food was very good! Will definitely return!
Very clean, excellent food. While I was there, a photographer was also there to take food pictures. I can vouch for Lyndon's; the photos were of actual food from the kitchen. No artifice here, just very good meats, sandwiches, and sides. I had brisket and sausage. Yum!
Super good ribs, brisket, sauce 100% made right, and they are my 1st choice .
My family and I have been going here for years, one of our favorite bbq places! I love love love their bbq sauce it's the best! My favorite dishes are the pork ribs and the chopped beef baked potato, you cant go wrong with those...and don't forget to order you a side of onion rings, so good!!!!
I first had Lyndon’s when we ordered a few smoked turkeys for our office event. There were no left overs! I recently went back and had the catfish with shrimp for lunch and it was very satisfying. I’ve had the onion rings and the coleslaw and they were both really good.
I was just looking for some BBQ around the area and stumbled into this place. Dont let looks get you from going in, give them a try and you will find very good food and people with great attitude. Old rustic style of restaurant.
I had an appointment in the neighborhood and found this place much by accident. The Shrimp and catfish were stellar and the ribs had a good and not overly peppery bark. BBQ sauce was warm in bottles and a nice balance of vinegar and sweet. Will be going back to try their brisket.
Solid good. Right in the sweet spot between firm and fall off the bone. Pleasing rub, simple but tasty, wonderful smoke flavor. Got rib special, 3 + 2 sides. More than ebough for lunch. Corn was not real spicy, but creamed consistency was delightful. Beans a touch al dente, but seasoned well. I put a little bbq sauce in them also. BTW, if you're a sauce person, you will like this. Definitely a step up from commercial stuff. Overall, great value.
Portions and food was great. The guys were great. We will definitely be back
These guys are fantastic! Consistently great food and even better service. Can’t say enough great things. Love the smoked Turkey and the stuffed potatoes are so yummy!! If you need catering - these are the guys to call.
Leticia is the best server! And food is also good
I was craving baked potato, didn’t know where to go so my husband said "let’s look" and we found Lyndon pit barbq amazing we were amazed customer service was outstanding the environment is great I would definitely recommend this restaurant
DEEEEEE-LICIOUS! This place has the best chopped beef sammich, the fries are always fresh and hot, and they have the Hi-C Pink Lemonade that nobody else has. Carrot cake was most excellent as well. Great service, great food, great atmosphere!
Greatest BBQ place we've found since we moved to Houston. We're really picky about our barbecue always comparing to our favorite two places back home. Dine-in and/or take out in two years we've never been disappointed in anything we've eaten from there. All of the employees are great too!
I do love Lyndon's BBQ. Exceptional quality, cooked in their well seasoned pits, makes for a great lunch stop. Take out or dine in. They have many tables, so space is not a problem. They can accommodate large groups, have an easy to follow line layout, condiment bar that is super easy to navigate, and always have friendly people behind the counter that make you feel very welcome. Well worth a stop in!
This is one of the favorite places that my work place loves to order from when we have lunches at the office. Their chopped beef baked potato all the way is so good. and the brisket is delicious. I wish there were one closer to my house so that I could go on the weekends.
Not just a BBQ joint... they have seafood, salads, sandwiches... The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Rave reviews on the large shrimp, catfish and cobbler! Everyone in our group voted Lyndon's our new favorite restaurant and can't wait to try more menu items. We will be back again and again!!! It is finger lickin' good and then some!
Great BBQ and a great experience. Not like any other place for sure. Brisket and ribs are superb but for a surprise the have the best deep fried butterfly shrimp in the area. You’ll think your in Kemah . Reserve the glass banquet room for your next special event dinner. A little bit of real Texas is preserved at Lyndon’s . 🇨🇱😎🇨🇱
Food was great. They breaded and fried the catfish I ordered right when I ordered it. It was fresh and a good portion. Staff was excellent as was service. I will continue to come to this establishment for the quality and service that was provided.
Located off 290 & Hollister. Great menu options. Tried the catfish, brisket, and sausage all full of flavor and fresh. Offered salad which is nice for a bbq place. Favorites were the freshly fried okra and onion rings. Country feel with old farm equipment decor. Ready for our next visit.
If you want a country western atmosphere, come to Lyndon's Pit BBQ. It is my favorite place for lunch. I love the weekly special and easy to understand menu. Whenever I feel like eating, I order pull pork sandwich with lots of onions in one setting. Otherwise, I get a meal deal with sausage and brisket. That could survive 2 meals or take leftover home to share. The BBQ sauce is kind of runny but it's always warm on the heated plate. It won't overpower the delicious BBQ.
Great BBQ spot. Been coming here for almost 15 years. Texas charm and fine eatin’!! 10/10 would recommend.
I have had barbecue throughout Texas over a period of eight years. I probably enjoyed barbecue from 36 different restaurants. This is by far one of the top three in my opinion in Texas. They have not invented barbecue, but they have almost perfected it. You will not be disappointed. It takes me 45 minutes to drive to this location and I will do that gladly again. Highly recommended!
This place is amazing the food Is delicious I mean out of this world best BBQ I have ever had the staff is amazing You need to try this place you won’t regret it
Been going here since they opened in their original location. Great food and service. Price shown on menu is the price you pay. BBQ sauce is delicious. Good variety meals to choose from.
customer service went above and beyond, from the conversation to. he made the TexasTwinkies fresh to order. even went as far as turning the smoker back on. stayed a lil open passes closed soo they would be done/ cook right.we really really appreciated coming from Indiana . i was soo excited to try them and he exceeded my expectations above . i will be ordering them again
Me and my wife had the burgers amazing been coming her for a while and it never disappoints
Food was great, but service was even better. All the guys went above and beyond to accommodate me and my party, definitely will be back for some Texas twinkies!
Quick service, good prices, excellent rustic Texas style decorating.
Now I'd like this place. I'm going to Linden's when they were just around the corner in the Strip Center there by aquarium world. All of that's gone now sadly that strip center lies empty. Linden's moved right around the corner right on Hollister. If you're coming towards town take Hollister turn right and they're right on the left about a block down. It's a newer building maybe 10 years old now since they moved in there. The pulled pork is good I wonderful pork sandwiches he's the one who brought them here to Houston. The sauce is outstanding I love they put the bottles on the little warmer so your sauce is warm and pours out easily it's got a sweet vinaigrette taste to it. Foods excellent staff is excellent of course prices have gone up on everything. I had a touch of sticker shock when I went in there but I was facing it on eating there for lunch everyday when I worked on that side of Town years ago. But like I said I highly recommend them they're independently owned it's ran by linden son now he retired some years ago. All I can say is stop on by try them out it's well worth the time and taste. I give them an A+
Have not been to Lyndon's in some time. Our power went out during the big storm last night (5-22-22..12.5 hrs) and for some reason I thought of Lyndon's and their catfish. Well I'll tell ya it was the best catfish I have eaten in many years. Cooked crispy (fries also) and not mushy. The coleslaw was on point not too sweet. Good tea. Excellent service. We are back!
I've lived in the northwest area for over 20 years, and never knew this placed existed. What a shame, I came to know Lyndon's because they catered a company event, and food was good, not great ( catering doesn't always give you the freshest food). So I went during lunchtime, I was originally going to order the brisket, but the Rib & Wing combo caught my attention. I love wings, and that has been my go to every time I go! It is smoked wings with buffalo sauce, and the ribs, omg, I mixed the bar b q sauce with the buffalo and get a unique flavor on the ribs. If you haven't tried Lyndon's I recommend you go, as a matter of fact I am going today! Ill take pics of the food if I remember....
I can't say enough about the amazing service. We walked in tired and hungry and were treated like family. We were looking for food near our hotel. This was right around the corner, and oh so delicious! We had a pound of brisket, a half pound of sausage, a half pound of the turkey (which was sneaky good), a half pound of pulled pork, and a full rack of ribs (which were tender, juicy, and fell off the bones.) I really didn't have high hopes. We wanted quick, easy, and nearby. This was all that and also delicious. Don't skip out on the broccoli rice if you want to try something different.
I have gone to Lyndon's for lunch for approximately 10 years now. I love their friendly atmosphere and their food is delicious! I have taken several friends and colleagues to eat at Lyndon's and everyone has been very complimentary of how great the BBQ is. Their staff always greets me with a welcoming smile which is a great way to start my lunch break. My only wish is that they had additional locations (at least one closer to home).
Lyndon's is my all-time favorite BBQ spot! Their pulled pork is second to none and the brisket is one of, if not the best around. I also like their turkey, tender and moist. I'm not a rib fan, but I have to expect they are a cut above just like their other meats. (Ask them at the counter for the vinegar sauce, it's vinegar-tart and spicy and great with the pulled pork.) Their sides are likewise great...I especially like their slaw and beans. And don't forget their great, old fashioned cobblers! They are a bit of a drive now from where I've moved, so every BBQ joint I try closer to home is compared to the Lyndon standard of excellence... So far, there's no true competition. Any time I get within 20 minutes drive and it's lunch or dinner time, my family knows where we're headed... Thanks, Lyndon for setting the bar so high!
Great food, excellent atmosphere, and the staff is wonderful! I truly recommend this restaurant... The barbecue was perfect! My husband had the brisket plate, and I had the baked potato with the brisket... Yum! Tender and flavorful all around! Will definitely be going back again, soon!
I had the potato with onions, sour cream, cheese, butter, and topped with brisket. DELICIOUS! The iced tea was fresh and refreshing. The staff was courteous and sincerely wanted us to get what we wanted and wanted it to taste delicious. It did and I will return. The line was short today, but I can see how this place would be packed for lunch so go early.
Absolutely the best BBQ you can get in the Spring Branch area. We love the sandwiches (sliced with half lean/half fatty) and they'll do their cobbler as a side! The loaded potatoes are huge and the do not skimp on the meat or toppings. Their sauce is pretty darn tasty too. We recommend this place regularly. I also like their point system for discounts.
If BBQ is on your mind, this place is where you need to be. Great atmosphere, if you have time to sit and enjoy your food. Food is delicious, from whatever you order here. Employees are nice and are ready to take care of your food needs. Make sure to stop and get there pulled pork with sauce. Enjoy!
Ate at Lyndon’s twice this past week while in town on business. Had the pork plate and a jalapeño Sausage and Turkey plate. Both were excellent. The sides were fresh and delicious. I have eaten Turkey at quite a few BBQ places in AL, NC and now in TX and this was by far the best Turkey I have ever eaten; very moist and flavorful. Great place, highly recommend.
From the time you walk in until you leave the service is unmatched my husband and I went for the first time on Sunday and I was so happy we did great hidden gem right off the freeway and cheaper they the big name bbq place down the street... Highly recommend the peach cobbler made in house
The ribs were absolutely wondeful. Everyone was polite and energetic. Baked Potato’s are awesome too. It’s a pretty big place too. Wings and huge onion rings are another favorite of mine here. I’ll come back again.
Excellent food, quantity and quality. I've been a customer for over 20 years. They have a private area for parties, available, possibly for up to 40 or 50 people. Nice and convenient location. Rustic type decor, very clean and really friendly people. Family owned restaurant. They care about their customers and friends.
When I'm out of town visiting, I like to try local spots. I was in the mood for real Texas BBQ. This place did not disappoint. Brisket was great and tender, sausage was perfect. Had 2 real bacon wrapped Jalapeño poppers. With the BBQ beans and Mac. It was all great.
My personal experience (yours may differ) the brisket (i got lean) was super tender and great, the ribs were well seasoned and not falling apart but not tough, the mashed potatoes were great. The jalapeño and cheddar sausage wasn't to my liking but my guest loved it. The broccoli and rice was mid, the cream corn was mid but my guest loved that too. The mac and cheese was reggie, didn't care for it. The texas twinkies were damn good. The chicken was mid. That is all.
This cute bbq location was amazing. From the staff, food to ownership all above 5 star. Not only do they have amazing service but they take the time to explain all the food choices and differences in them. I ordered the pulled pork plate which delicious and tender but today the meat had various smoke colors. I have been sick from another bbq place that had that but the owner reassured me it was from their smoking technique. But for peace of mind he offered to make me a whole new plate. The food was great. I didn’t add a picture because I enjoyed so much and ate to fast. lol. A must try. It is quiet and relaxing. A great spot away from the office.
Great smoked turkey sandwich! Great coleslaw. Lots of room for a group. The chairs need felt on them because it’s so loud on the concrete floor.
Want to say a big thank you to Mark and the team at Lyndon's for a wonderful catered meal for 40++ people Monday. Brisket, Chicken and Peach Cobbler all 10/10. Fixins too. Mark was gracious and kind in the set-up of the "buffet". Look forward to our next engagement.
By far one of the best bbq spots I’ve ever had. Their brisket is always delicious. Baked potatoes are my go to, but they have so much variety you really can’t go wrong with anything on their vast menu. Definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for some good barbecue!
I wish I found this place years ago! What a great BBQ experience. The food was incredible, staff was friendly, big spacious and fun BBQ environment. Most of all.... The price was great! Emanuel was our guy behind the line and was a service Pro. He walked us through the specials and helped us with our first time ordering. Truly a friendly and professional face in front of this business. Put this place on your list for Texas BBQ. They also have a room you can reserve for events. While we were here, it looks like a construction company rented the room for their crew of about 40. Even if you are stubborn and have your own BBQ place that "is the best", come try these folks out.
A serious BBQ Stop for some serious Pulled Pork! Absolutely my favorited Pulled Pork sandwich anywhere in the Houston area! The Onion Rings are to die for! Mmmmmm!!! Pulled Pork sandwich and fresh made onion rings!!! No better way to spend an evening or weekend meal!! Have been going to Lyndon's ever since they opened in the original location just around the corner. The staff have always been friendly. Great value and more than enough portion size to fill you up! Don't forget the sauce sitting on the warming tray!
Update to my review below: we went today 2/1/20 and Leticia (awesome woman) had coffee ready for me. A shout out to her for going out of her way to make me happy. Awesome bbq!! Everything I have tried has been delicious! My only complaint is that they do not offer coffee. We have our monthly meetings in the morning.☕☕
Lyndon's is one of Houston's hidden gems. There's a good selection of meats and sides to choose from, all of which are pretty good (I enjoy the pulled pork myself). It's usually not too busy and it's always clean. But let me tell you how good the service is here. We used to come to Lyndon's about once a month or so because it's good. After Harvey came, we ended up moving out of Houston. But 2 years later when we come back to visit the area, the staff already knew exactly what to start cooking! We'll definitely be coming back here when we're back in Houston.
Came in for lunch. Ordered brisket, jalapeño sausage, spicy corn and pulled pork. I didn't taste much smokey flavor in the meats. Condiment bar was stocked and the bbq sauce was on a heated plate in a bottle. The food was good/average. This place is decent if you want BBQ, but I wasn't blown away.
Been here for the second time. Had the pork ribs which were very tender and flavorful. Just the right amount of fat on them and definitely not dry. Their warm BBQ sauce is very good and has a nice taste with hints of spice. It is more on the vinegary side which I like. You should give them a try as you will be pleasantly surprised how the stack up against Rudy's and Pappas. Their employees are very friendly as well.
Sausage sandwich used to be my go-to item on the menu. I really liked the sauce. It doesn’t overpower the meat. When they moved to their present location, they didn’t seem to be as good. I will try them again, since it’s been a while.
The food was delicious. We had the brisket...sausage...potato salad & mac & cheese. The brisket was so tender & not any fat on it. We went to a Softball Fast Pitch Legends Reunion. Got to see many friends we've made since 1969.
I had the ribs, jalapeno sausage, cole slaw and mac and cheese. It was all good. Service was fast and friendly. Price was appropriate. The place is nicely decorated. Definitely worth a visit. I'll be back.
This was a cozy place with decent BBQ. The pulled pork was a little dry and lacked a decent smoke flavor but overall it was decent. The people are very nice and the place is very clean. BBQ is expensive. Anyone rating based on portion sizes need to go to a buffet. I got the pulled pork dinner plate and was served over a pound of just meat and it was $15.00. That is pretty average cost but the price size is bigger that average in my experience. Update! Came back today and I'm happy to say the pulled pork was much better. Can't wait to see y'all again!
Great place that is truly hidden away from the freeway but worth the trip. Fatty brisket was awesome, sides are tasty, prices reasonable, space and atmosphere awesome. Nice sized parking lot for you and friends and i have to rent that private room one day cause it needs to be used. Check them out! Only knock on the place was having been to many BBQ places around town their barbecue sauce could use some more zing to it if you have to have sauce.
Super friendly service. I had the brisket and it was great! Their BBQ sauce is the best in town according to my friend who has tried almost all the BBQ places here in Houston. And I believe her! I am not giving them top scores only because the tea tasted funny and subsequently I tried their soda instead; and it was just as I suspected. The culprit was the bad tasting water. If they would only swap out the water filter (or install one) it would be a five star place!
First time here. Found on Google maps. It is close to my work. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich with two sides, mac n cheese and potatoe salad with a drink. The staff was freindly and quick. The restraurant was neatly decorated and clean. Lots of old tin signs and country memorabilia. The food was good and I liked the warm BBQ sauce. Always looking for a new place for lunch.
This was our first time coming here, just trying different places. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Lots of room for large groups. The food was pretty good. We both ordered rib plates and the ribs were tender and had a light smoke ring so they were apparently smoked for a little while. The ranch beans were decently seasoned. The cole slaw tasted good but was slightly dry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a good place to go to if you live close by and want to grab something quick.
First time going to their new location. Sadly, it just isn't the same. Everything was bland. Even the sauce was missing the old flavor. I used to go to the original location all the time when I lived here. Won't be visiting next time I get back to town. Sadly, a legacy of a restaurant is gone. At least they still have IBC root beer on tap.
I enjoyed my first visit, but wasn't bowled over. Good barbecue is a hotly contested point in this town and I don't know that Lyndon's is quite up there with the best, but it's very good, and there were a number of other features that keep them in the running, such as breadth of menu (I want to go back and try the fried catfish!) and choice of sides. The dining room is big and fun and not like a strip mall, which is always a plus. I'd go back and give them another try, for sure.
Had the ribs, catfish, onion rings, and kids burger meal. The crew was fantastic, super friendly and fast, but the food itself was pretty mediocre for the price. Fish was probably the best thing and it was still just okay. Ribs, fries, and onion rings were bland. Macaroni was gross. BBQ is really subjective so you may like it, but it's not my cup of tea.
It's fine. Not incredible, but not bad either. Great for a quick lunch meal without the hassle of standing in line for an hour at the other BBQ joints that get more attention.
Typically I would get brisket and turkey, but I ended up trying the catfish which was good but not great. I saw spicy corn casserole and was excited but it was less casserole and more creamed corn. I'll try this again since it's close to my work and there's a ton of other options on the menu.
Not bad for a quick lunch. Sausage was ok. Ribs are a tad too dry and skinny for me. I’ll still go back to try the brisket though.
Have had lunch many times (over 50) and have taken other people there. I am hesitant to go back because my truck window was broken out and backpack stolen. I have talked with other people who said that that had happened to others (not verified). It caused me to pay a lot of money and problems (stolen checkbook, stolen backup vehicle keys, etc.)
Food was warm. Not hott warm. I snagged a pulled pork sandwich. Amount of food for price point in today's climate I'd say it was almost fair. Slightly over priced. How do you have dry pulled pork? Anyone recommending this place as a must eat or go to establishment needs their taste buds adjusted. They clearly have not had BBQ that was fresh. The meats sit in a heating oven to stay warm they can't be hot because they'd dry out they can be cold because it's get microwaved and that's worse. They just don't have the foot traffic or the right preparation to serve fresh meats. I suspect cash flow and management have something to do with this establishment pushing themselves as BBQ. Looks like an expensive building with taxes or rent we'll they need to plan better or work their hours differently but this is not close to fresh BBQ. It's atleast the best in this small sector. Don't even go down the street on the frontage road or you'll regret what you do to you mouth. Is it good sustenance sure I can go back to work now and survive but I won't be recommending this to any coworkers.
I decided to give this place a try after the great reviews but I guess to each it’s own. Maybe my first try was a fluke but the food to me was not good. I ordered the regular sausage which had some kind of taste to it that made me a little nauseous. The brisket was dry and not as tender. The bbq sauce was really watery. Also, compared to the bbq place I usually go I don’t feel like the portions match the price. The sides are on the slightly smaller side just compared to what I’m used to. I also did not enjoy my sides of Mac n cheese (tasted more like box Mac n cheese) and broccoli rice. However, the beans were really good. Oh, and the pecan pie was absolutely delicious! I would go back just for the pie:)
Was looking forward to trying some BBQ from an independent restaurant rather than the big chains you find around Houston but was rather disappointed. First off, the price is quite reasonable for BBQ. My brisket on a bun with 2 sides was a $12 something. I'd guess around 10 oz of meat on a nice soft sweet roll bun. The side portions were a stingy compared to competitors but I digress- back to the main reason for going to a BBQ restaurant. The brisket has a nice amount of bark but was very dry and required copious amounts of sauce. The sauce itself was really nothing special, in fact I ended up using the bean juice on my bun instead because it was much more flavorful. On the positive side, very nice and clean restaurant with lots of the decorations you would expect to see in a BBQ restaurant and the staff was friendly. I'll give em another shot and try the pork next time. in my opinion, at a good BBQ joint, the sauce that's offered on the side should be a condiment- not a necessity.
Today I stopped by for the fried okra. It was passable. I also decided to try the baked potato without meat. I got my order to go. Imagine my shock when the only pepper provided was one pack, looks like an eighth of an ounce. How can I eat the potato without seasoning? So sad. There was also the same amount of salt, I don't add salt to my food.
The food was good but not mind blowing, and the portions are massive. I had the half chicken plate with 2 sides (I couldn’t finish it) - myself and my partner could have most likely shared a half chicken and 1 baked potato. NB - the beer battered Onion rings are MASSIVE. I found that their size was actually a little off putting because they were so big. I unfortunately have to say I didn’t enjoy them, they were tasteless and unfortunately a little dry for my liking. However the venue is clean and has a tribute to the old days of sport and pride to baseball (but I will say I feel like I am stuck in an older version of another well known barbecue restaurant). I do have to admit I though that the staff are friendly and the service is really good here. Food is also fairly priced here. With all been said, please don’t let my review discourage you from at least experiencing this restaurant, there are still some good qualities here, all I am saying is do not expect an explosion of mouthwatering flavors.
There pulled pork was good nothing to die for. The atmosphere was cool and the price was pretty average for a bbq place. The cafeteria style line almost made me feel like i was in high school again with how getting your food goes. All in all it was a good experience but I'm not gunna make a trip to Houston just to come here.
$54 two dinner plates two desserts 2 drinks. Brisket, worst I've had in the United States of America. $18 dollars for it with two sides and it's dry. Why? Sausage plate, half way cold. Eaten 5 minutes after walking out of restaurant and yet it's not even fully warm, very average sausage. Baked beans, once again....why?? Red, green peppers and onions in what tastes more like some sort of tomato based sauce... Why?????? The side of fried okra, tastes as it should...you can't really mess up fried okra, you batter it and fry it. So that's a relief. Mac and cheese, average, not bad. Mashed potatoes, was very grateful it's made with real potatoes. 6/10 Desserts, average. One word.... disappointment. 2 stars because it's edible and I was starving. It's steep competition out there and very good bbq in houston, go out and see what the best and highest rated bbq are like, Because this ain't it....
We spent $90 plus $10 tip. Food was terrible except for the ribs and turkey. Food wasn't hot. We got blackberry cobbler which had NO flavor. Brisket was dryer than the Sierra desert. Wanted to take the food back for a refund, but I didn't want to be that guy. We don't eat out much and I'm sorry to say this was a complete waste of time and money. Nothing was seasoned correctly. We live less than 5 mins away and unfortunately, won't go back
Dry brisket. I went here on a Monday afternoon. At first I wasn't sure if they were open because the parking lot was completely empty. I ordered the 2 meat brisket and sausage. Forget the sausage. It does not compete with other places. The brisket was so dry it was difficult to eat. There was little to no smoke flavor. I sides ...I had mac n cheese and bbq beans. I only tasted them. They were not worth eating. I always suspect that when you have food this bad it is leftovers from the weekend. Papa's is better but the best in the Houston area that I have had is Killeen's in Pearland.
