This was my first time visiting this amazing restaurant and it definitely will not be my last. Each order is made fresh and it's all worth it. I got their special of the day of jerk pork chops with candied yams and greens. The flavor is phenomenal. I also had to get a side of Mac and cheese along with banana pudding for dessert. Perfectly flavored and great portion size for your wallet. You can eat here for a reasonable price as well. I spent a little more because I got extra but my meal by itself was under $20. Staff is kind and attentive. I definitely recommend paying them a visit.

Food was 🔥🔥. Got 4 different plates, pig feet platter, fried catfish with crawfish etoufee on top, oxtails with rice potatoes and mustard greens, fried shrimp, fried okra, mac and cheese and yams. All of it was perfect. Thank yall for a wonderful meal!

My husband told me about this place because they serve real catfish and have good Southern Creole food! (Both I appreciate greatly!!!) We ordered the Smothered Pork Chops and Catfish Atchafalaya, each with two sides. They have three different Kool-Aid flavors (Tropical, Mango, and Green Apple) with free refills. A nice portion of peach cobbler for dessert. The vibe is nice, with R&B video playing on the TV. We will be returning! Thanks for the Southern Creole Hospitality!

Guys this place is so AMAZING. I ordered the famous Cajun pasta and added shrimp. I've never ate so much that dish was perfect!!! My partner ordered the garlic herb turkey wings and it was falling off the bone full of flavor. The yamms were so good and cabbage was my favorite side. The frog punch/juice was so good my heart was smiling. The staff was super welcoming and took good care of us. The experience was 20/10. The had recipes hanging on the walls that was so heart warming i loved it. The music was good. Basically if you can go here DO IT.

Omg ya’ll i am not lying 🤥 when i say ya’ll need to try this place, i have never been a soul food type of person but this place really got to me, everything just taste so freaking good, their corn bread is so soft, this place is a family own so ya’ll know what that means its all taste like fresh home made food taste flavor!!!! I really really recommend to try this!!!! I had the cajun pasta 🍝 and omg it’s just i can’t explain how good this place is, my boyfriend had the smother pork chops with the okra and is off the chain! Yall just head that way for some good fresh food!!!! Just for reference i added shrimp and chicken to the pasta! It’s a BOMB 💣

One of H-Town's hidden gems serving tasty southern dishes. Good old school beats add to the whole vibe. Catfish & Shrimp, Fried Okra, Candied Yams, Cornbread...no pic...my bad...I ate it all. Excellent!! Happened upon this place after our original plans didn't work out!! What a treat! Fried catfish was Excellent!! Not sure what she puts in the greens, but they were the best!!! Nice change from the ordinary chain restaurants!!! Nice to be able to carry on a conversation!!! Will be back!!

We ordered the Catfish Atafalaya smothered with crawfish ettouffe & Mac n cheese. French toast sandwich with grits and the Cajun pasta added blackened shrimp. Everything was SO DELICIOUS, Scrumptious, buttery, fresh, CREAMY. I ate every last piece and cleaned my to go plate with the bread. The service was really nice and welcoming as well. Really excited to frequent this place and try other menu items. Portions were filling as well. The crawfish etouffee with the catfish, the creamy Cajun pasta still thinking about it.

First of all, let’s cut to the chase! They were playing my jams the whole time. 🤭 I husband kept telling me to stop singing and dancing. 😒 Love it! Secondly, someone was cooking in this kitchen!!!! If you are looking for something different and delicious to eat. Try this place. I love that they cook their fish and shrimp in cornmeal. Yummmyyyy! The rice and beans had just a little kick in it. I forgot to take a picture of the Cajun butter hamburger though. I took off the top toasted bread so my daughter could taste it.( she is allergic to a lot of ingredients) She absolutely loved the burger and she is picky eater. My husband said they could have use a little of more sauce on his side of the bread, but you could ask for more on the side. My son ate all of his food and started to eat my husband’s as well. I like the fact they you are served in to-go trays because I never finish my food. Great idea! We also got some desserts.I tried a little bit of everything! Mac and cheese and okra was on point. Ohhhhh the cornbread!!! Mouth watering. We will definitely be coming back. The beautiful lady that took our order was very pleasant and kind!!! The right person in front will bring back your best and loyal customers. 🥰

I can't wait to come back to Houston and eat here again! The food was delicious, fresh because it's made to order, and the restaurant itself is a vibe. We went on a Sunday and gospel music was playing in the background and the restaurant has a cozy feng shuito it. The smothered chicken plate I ordered was cooked to perfection and the greens and mac was yummy. My daughter's friends ordered meatloaf and she says it was delicious too. I'll definitely be going back 🩷.

Finally had a chance to stop by, the food was really very good. Yes, that is steam coming off those turkey wings! The young lady at the counter was very helpful in explaining things as it was our first visit. Portion sizes were great, we had enough to take home. Seems like to go was the option of choice as I saw many people in/out. We ate in though, and it was nice and cozy. Love the real recipes on the walls. Turkey wing plate and catfish with grits is what we ate.We will return

I give them 4.8 stars out of 5. First time here with some friends and I order the smothered turkey wing that came with rice, and 2 sides and a corn bread. Which I order the macaroni and cheese and fried okra. I am a Chef and foodie so I look at a lot of stuff when trying food. Like the quality, if they use fresh herb, vegetables, spices and the taste. The turkey wing was very tender and soft. The macaroni and cheese was good, not to wet and nice amount of cheese. The okra was fried to the God's and season well. I love that I could taste and see the fresh herbs that was used for the turkey wing and it had a lite flavor in taste and didnt get much garlic. But it was lacking a little salt or even chicken stock to give it a little more flavor. And the rice wasn't season at all and very oily from I guess it was gravy from the turkey. Which wasn't gravy just oil and herbs with mild flavor. And the cornbread could have used some butter since it was soft and moist. But overall the employees was very nice and friendly the food was hot and I will go back again. Black own and my friends loved their meal as well which we also had the fried green tomatoes which was phenomenal and fried to the God's as well.

The catfish 406 is amazing! Will definitely be coming back. The mac and cheese is so creamy. The fish and sauce is so flavorful. We also had the cajun pasta with sausage, chicken and shrimp. Portion sizes are generous. Everything is cooked fresh and it shows.

The service was amazing , you can taste the love !! The greens didn't have the bacon/ham that I'm use to but it was still delicious the ox tails were so tender and the drinks are great ! 10/10 would come again!

My wife and I really enjoyed our meal! We were in town for the Houston rodeo for the weekend and decided to hit this spot before we left Houston. I am so happy we did! The banana cake was delicious!!! You all need to check out this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Was my first time going was craving some soul food. I went in a little before close and the food was good I really enjoyed it! The lady up from was nice and recommended a mix of the flavors of the day for a drink and it was delicious! Will definitely be back!

If you have not been, GO!!! Run!! I got the Cajun pasta with blackened chicken, candied yams, and grape koolaid to go. The yams didn’t even make it 5 minutes down the street before I ate them all. The Cajun pasta was delicious! I’ll be back soon!! Make the drive! It’s worth it! 10/10

This place was pretty good! I had the butter burger. The patty was generic, prolly frozen and overcooked. But none of that mattered because the bacon was super thick and high quality, and the onions were perfectly grilled! My partner got the pasta and it was super delicious with a huge portion! The staff was passively nice, and quite welcoming to a white boy wearing a rainbow tail! Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to friend. Give it a try!

It was my first time visiting but it won’t be my last. The smell of delicious food hit my nostrils as I was walking to the front door. The service was awesome and the restaurant is very clean. I love the handwritten recipes as the artwork. It made me smile and think of my great Aunts in New Orleans. I ordered to-go, the Catfish Atchafalaya with red beans & rice and yams. When I got home and tasted the catfish with the crawfish etoufee - my tongue did a dance of deliciousness. The yams were seasoned and not overly sweet. The red beans were a little firmer than I prefer and the cornbread had a sweet but not too sweet flavor )I’m more of a savory cornbread type); but both were good. I am happy to have a soul food restaurant near me and an establishment where the food not only looks good but flavorful; and worth every dollar spent and calorie gained.

I only rate this location a four because SOME of the food items I tried lacked flavor. I suppose I’m use to North Carolina cooking. However, the service was amazing and atmosphere was extremely comfortable. I would definitely come back maybe I just tried the wrong items that day! I would advise you try it for yourself either way you won’t be disappointed.

I’m visiting the area and was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but I left disappointed. My family and I came for a meal, and unfortunately, the food was under-seasoned and the sides were very lackluster. I was hoping for a much better experience.
