THIS IS A MUST!!! Had lunch special (great value), literally best won ton soup I've ever had, as well as the best General Tso's chicken (perfect fry).... my companion had hot and sour soup and it was spot on, as well as the shredded pork!!! Service was perfection!!!
This is one of our favorite roast duck restaurants in Houston! The duck is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—every bite is irresistible. The staff are friendly and professional, and the cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for family or friends gatherings. A little tip: make sure to reserve the roast duck in advance, or you might miss out. 🥡
This was my first time here. We got the whole duck special. The cucumber salad and green beans were my ultimate favorite...so flavorful. The duck was delicious and tender. The pancakes were good, they were a bit thick for my preference, but good. The service was good, everyone was nice and accommodating. Great place. I'll be back.
November 2024 We came here from out of town for their family set meals and Peking duck which was one of their signature offerings. We enjoyed the cold appetites and their dessert. The duck was fantastic with the thin pan cake. We also enjoyed the smoke fish. The pricing was very affordable with all great selection. The owner was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and will come back again. Previously, the parking light and safety was a concern. Good thing the landlord reinvested in this property.
Peking Cuisine has quickly become one of my favorite spots for comfort food in town. The value for the price is exceptional, making it an economical choice for group gatherings such as family get-togethers, friendly meetups, or even coworker team-building events. Their combination meals are particularly impressive, catering to groups ranging from three to eight people. For our party of nine, we opted for the seven-person combo with an additional order of duck. Each combo includes three hot dishes and three cold dishes, offering a wide array of choices. Impressively, there are no additional charges for selecting different dishes within the combo, allowing you to sample a significant portion of the menu. While not every dish blew me away flavor-wise, the overall experience was satisfying. The variety ensures that everyone can find something they enjoy, and the portion sizes are generous. It's a fulfilling dining experience, perfect for sharing and trying new things. The only minor downsides were the desserts, which were just okay, and some dishes were slightly saltier than expected. However, considering the price and the extensive selection, these are minor quibbles. In summary, Peking Cuisine offers great value, a wide range of dishes, and a satisfying dining experience. It's definitely worth exploring, especially if you're dining with a group and looking for variety and affordability.
The Peking Duck tasted good but quite pricey. It’s only allowed to order the whole duck from the restaurant, not allowed to order the half duck. The whole roasted duck is for $45 now, and it came with the duck soup. The flour tortillas for wrapping the sliced duck meat and scallion were too thick and the sauce was a bit salty though. The service here was fine. The staff members came to check on us for several times. But I would not say they were friendly, as I did not see the smile on their face all the time when checking on us. They looked so serious.
I came for the peking duck by internet recommendations and these reviews. Honestly we were VERY underwhelmed (maybe a tad disappointed) in the meal. The peking duck was super greasy (even though I know ducks are super fatty), the skin was super soggy and limp. No crisp to them at all. VERY little duck meat and a lot of it was chopped up like they just put the deboned pieces under the skin. The rest of the duck meat--where did it go?? It didn't go in the soup they brought. That soup only had one single duck wing. No other meat inside and very little flavor--like they poured diluted broth over one wing and dropped in some napa cabbage and five piece of tofu. The walnut shrimp dish was pretty decent. The mapo tofu was bland with just a lot of szechuan pepper flavor in it. The snow pea leaves and green beans were both good. Not sure we'll come back because there wasn't anything really outstanding. Peking Duck. Green beans. Mapo Tofu. Snow pea leaves. Walnut Shrimp (not counting the soup b/c it was just really water over napa cabbage). Total for us four = $157 including tip.
Normally I’ll rate this place a 5/5 but recently there has been some changes to the recipe, I know this because I’ve been a consistent customer since 2019. Some meals are now made entirely different from the original when I returned it and asked for what I typically get. They said the chef changed and this is how he makes his version. Mind you it’s not at all remotely close to the old one. Different ingredients used too. Not even the same kind of peppers. I was highly disappointed that I couldn’t get the exact meal I was craving. Don’t get me wrong, what I was served tasted really good but it was not the signature dish I have ordered over 15 times in the past. This place is still really good but I would appreciate if they can go back to the old recipe or create new names for this new chefs variations of dishes. Still a 5/5 food wise tho
Disappointing food. The waiter recommended some sichuan dishes as “specialties”, which is already sus in a beijing restaurant… like mapo tofu. It was not good. No sichuan flavor at all. The peking duck was not good either - the pancakes were thick like tortillas and the sauce was super thick. The duck itself could be juicier. The fish lacked flavor. And the prices are high considering the area/quality it was not bad, but nowhere near good either
Absolutely disgusting. I hadn’t ordered from here in a while, and now I understand why there are so many recent bad reviews. The food is not the same anymore not just the flavor, but the quality overall. To make matters worse, I found a cockroach in my food. I ordered the lunch special that brings a soup, This was by far the most disappointing and disgusting dining experience I’ve ever had. I will never return to this place.
Avoid this place at all cost. We had a Peking duck reservation for Monday December 22 at 8PM and called the day before to make the reservation. On the day of, we happened to show up a bit earlier around 6:30PM on the off chance there would be an open table. But they were pretty booked so we told them we’d be back at our 8PM reservation time and reconfirmed we would have a duck. However when we came back around 7:45PM, we were told there were no more ducks available. What is the point of reserving a duck if the restaurant doesn’t actually honor the reservation and sells it first come first serve whenever they feel like it? And we were not the only ones too, multiple tables that made reservations that day were told there was no more duck and so they left. I understand not wanting a no show on the reserved duck but we showed up almost 2 hours earlier and were told we’d have the duck. And if they’re concerned about no call no shows on reservations then take a deposit. It’s beyond unprofessional and frankly we will not return because of it, regardless of how good the food is or how much notoriety the restaurant has. If you do not want your time wasted as small business owners, then don’t waste your customers’ time. And if you see the replies from the owner on the Google reviews apologizing and saying they will comp a free duck to make things right, don’t even bother because they will not honor it. Take your business elsewhere to any other restaurant in Chinatown that will treat you fairly.
Good place for food but we called for a duck reservation, they sold out and didn't inform us they didn't have it wasn't available after we already came by to make sure it was secured. We waited two hours just for them to tell us it wasn't available. We came early to make sure it was reserved. Extremely unprofessional. 12/28/25 update Came by to speak to a manager. They tried to bribe us with a free duck to adjust the Google review, but ended up not resolving anything and refused to take accountability. The gentleman in the front said the owner didn't say anything about giving out a free duck, even though it is literally posted directly under my review. The gentlemen in the front as made a remark, "all these Vietnamese ordered more than they should." I feel like that statement was extremely unnecessary and shows their lack of professionalism. This is not about the food, it is about the principal. As a chef in the industry, I am extremely disappointed in this form of hospitality. We should do better as a community. Will not be supporting this establishment from now on.
Our family had a reservation for the $99 set on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was extremely busy and we totally understand. However, our cold dishes did not come out until we ask for several times. Toward the end of the dining, we asked waiters for the duck soup as it never arrives our table. At first, they keep saying the chef is still preparing. After about 30 minutes, they then said the chef doesn't have time to make it anymore. As much as we are disappointed, we have no options. So we asked the soup to be removed from our check. The owner then quickly say "Oh, we will give it to you at your next visit". Our family expressed our concern and refused the offer, and then the owner gave us a 10% discount (~$15) on our check. After we left the restaurant, we realize the stir fried green beans was never served neither. TLTR: Management is not honest. You may not get what you order after hours of waiting!
We’ve been coming here for years for the Peking duck . It used to be that you call an hour ahead to order but last few years it’s available right away . Today the duck was not only cold and skin was not crispy - it was CHEWY ! We complained about it but nothing was done and nothing offered to correct it. I don’t think we’ll be back there again. Also not even an hour later , my husband and I both suffered stomach upset and diarrhea .
