My boyfriend and I came here without a reservation for an early valentines dinner on Wednesday. Our waiter Isreal was awesome! Very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us by giving us wine recommendations for our food. The atmosphere itself was quite lovely and the front was decorated with a Valentines Day theme. Next time I would love to sit outside if possible. Our food was also delicious! Very flavorful. I would definitely come here again
It was my first time having dinner here and it was for my birthday i have to say the service from Robert was impeccable from attention to detail to going above and beyond. They even signed a happy birthday letter for me and i thought it was so cute and kind. He took pictures and even made some good recommendations. The place has a fancy and lovely interior. The food was delicious i will definitely come back 💜
I love Rainbow Lodge. I've been several times and it never disappoints. We went today for brunch and enjoyed everything. We had the whipped goat cheese, peas and snaps as well as the quail bites to start. For the entree we had the red fish and jumbo gulf shrimp and grits. So delicious! We sat at the bar top and enjoyed our meal with drinks. I highly recommend you try this place!
The server was exceptional, friendly, and attentive. Beverages were excellent. The food items were fantastic, from the breads to the dessert. The atmosphere was great, although it is a bit deceiving. Walking through the restaurant did not give me the immediate impression that it was a classy type of place. But the theme of the place fits well with their will game based dishes.
A very lovely place to eat dinner! The food is very good with an interesting selection of game and fish, and the outdoor area and bar are very beautiful. It is pricey but you are paying for food quality and ambiance. The outdoor patio is partly covered/has umbrellas and heat lamps. Self parking for lunch, valet for dinner. My husband and I went for a date night and had a nice time :)
We visited Rainbow Lodge on Sunday at 7pm for a party of five to celebrate my niece’s 21st birthday, and everything was perfect from start to finish. We hadn’t been back since 2018, and it was even better than we remembered. We ordered a variety of dishes — the elk, antelope, bison, a classic beef ribeye, the rainbow trout, and the chicken breast — and every plate was exceptional. The flavors were rich, beautifully prepared, and perfectly cooked. We ended the evening with a nightcap and their incredible bread pudding, the perfect finish to an unforgettable meal. A memorable night for a memorable date. We will definitely be back.
My husband and I had a terrific experience here when we came to celebrate my birthday, from the service to the food even the decor was outstanding. We enjoyed our Steak and Chicken very well. I even received a birthday card from the staff! This is a very cute restaurant with a lodge feeling vibe.
They have complementary valet parking so even if you don’t find a spot it’s easy enough. I went for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. I had the steak and eggs and finished everything on my plate. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. They have two dollar mimosas for those of you that are interested on Sundays until 3.
Rustic country vibe. Beautiful scenery with simple decor. Great for casual dinner with a fancy flare. Food was great. Mashed potatoes had too much goat cheese but still ok. Our waiter was talkative but extremely personable and kind. Can't remember his name but his wife loves horses. I'll definitely be back.
First time visiting this place, and we brought a very good friend of ours. Nice atmosphere, great service, and definitely the right spot if you want to enjoy wild game. I ordered the wild game mixed grill — three delicious pieces: elk, venison, and Texas quail — all perfectly cooked. My friends had the rainbow trout fillet, which was excellent as well. We paired everything with a Tempranillo wine. We’ll definitely be back!
Valet parking. Top tier service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious fare: nice presentation & portion size. The food was the star. The game was cooked to perfection, so tender. The fish was well seasoned & the sauce & spinach were very good. Our least favorite bite of the night with the cheddar grits that came with the quail appetizer & the wild game entrée. A bit more seasoning would have helped. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Hands down, the best dessert I've ever had. The atmosphere was elevated but not stuffy. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The card from the staff was a sweet touch. Highly recommend. Appetizer: CRISPY TEXAS QUAIL BITES Entrée 1: WILD GAME MIXED GRILL (venison, elk loin, & quail) Entrée 2: RAINBOW TROUT WITH LUMP BLUE CRAB & PECAN BROWN BUTTER Dessert: WARM CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING
This unique restaurant has it all - easy valet parking, friendly hostess, fantastic food and fabulous server (Izzy was amazing). Went with a small group so we got to try the duck gumbo, wild game mixed grill, antelope loin, pan seared redfish and lodge rolls. Everything was delicious, wasn’t gamey, and was fun to taste new things. Izzy checked on us and made sure we had drinks, answered all our questions, and he turned the dinner into an experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more things!
Want to start by saying Thomas is an incredible server! He definitely made our experience more enjoyable! We went for the end of Houston restaurant week and they had a really great three course meal deal for $55. As a vegetarian, I don’t necessarily think my meal was worth the $55, but I do appreciate them having a vegetarian option on the menu so I can still go to the places my friends want to try. However, I think this was an incredible deal for those having the meat options on the menu. My one friend got the Bison, and the other had the Quail and Venison. The starter salads were phenomenal, and don’t even get me started on dessert. Firstly I really expected smaller portion since it was a deal but no, full sized desserts. Amazing. The peach panna cotta was so light and fresh, the bread pudding was soooo warm and soft, and the chocolate mousse perfectly rich. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant, especially for a nice date night or getting dressed up with the girls.
Rainbow Lodge: A Wild Game Affair in the Bayou City When in Texas, one must eat as the cowboys did—preferably without the chaps but with equal bravado. At Rainbow Lodge, Houston’s temple of wild game dining, I leaned into that creed with reckless abandon. We chose to sit outside on the back porch patio, where the summer air had the density of a brisket smoker. Overlooking the creek and lush gardens, the setting was so serene I nearly forgot I was slowly being roasted like the sausage on my plate. But let it be known: the ambiance made my near-sacrifice to the Texas sun worth it. The Meal Brunch began with fried quail over bacon-gravy-slicked grits. Quail, for the uninitiated, is essentially a polite, bite-sized chicken with an aristocratic flair. Tender, crispy, and gone far too soon. Then came the pièce de résistance: the Wild Game Grill. A veritable rodeo of meats, it featured house-made sausage, more quail (because one quail is never enough), venison, eggs, cheddar-roasted potatoes, and a blistered jalapeño thrown in for dramatic effect. My taste buds shouted “Yeehaw!” in unison, which, if I’m honest, alarmed the nearby hummingbirds. The Service & Scene Service was impeccable—our server appeared with the timing of a stagehand at the rodeo, refilling drinks and delivering plates before I could even dab the bacon gravy off my shirt. Be warned: parking is valet-only, which adds a touch of urban polish to an otherwise rustic fantasy. The Verdict Rainbow Lodge is equal parts Texas tradition and culinary adventure. It’s the sort of place where you risk sunburn, cholesterol, and possibly your belt buckle, but leave grinning like a ranch hand who just discovered indoor plumbing. Definitely a great “Texan” spot—and one where wild game reigns supreme.
My husband and I celebrated our 18th anniversary at this beautiful restaurant, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt special—romantic, relaxing, and with a stunning view that made the whole evening feel like a dream. Watching the sunset while enjoying our meal was such a perfect touch.
We drove a good hour+ from Montgomery for dinner this week and it was worth every minute! My husband loved every bite of the game in his appetizer and dinner! I enjoyed the tenderness of the antelope as well. He’s looking forward to eating his way through the menu, and even wants to go back for brunch! Thursday nights are not crowded, and the service was spectacular! Lou had lots of good recommendations and was attentive taking good care of us. We’re looking forward to frequent future visits!

Texan hunters come eat here!!! This quaint 100 year old historic log cabin is the dream you have been having about the ultimate wild game and seafood restaurant. The Rainbow Lodge has great food And also features two gardens, and beehives! Yes i said beehives! Who does that??? The kitchen garden, located by the restaurant's kitchen door, grows their own fresh herbs and tomatoes - you know things the best chefs would want to pick and use immediately. picked Across the street is a second garden with raised beds, which grows anything from blackberries to peppers and kale to beets. I heard the honey gets harvested twice a year in June and October, and are featured in dishes seasonally. They even sell jars of the honey by the front door. We started with “the board” it was a sampler charcuterie board with blueberry venison sausage, smoked duck other meats, vegetables, cheeses, quail eggs and fresh sourdough bread. Oh yes the marinated cherry tomatoes were magnificent! Then on to the wild game, there is a dish on the menu called "Taste of the Wild" which features three samples of different kinds of meat. The elk, venison and quail were cooked to perfection. I noticed the owner/manager actually read the reviews so here is my tough part of the review for you. It was The veggies. I wanted to give you 5 stars overall but again the veggies… Your veggies need to be refined. My broccolini tough, it was grill burnt and impossible to cut with my fork i had to resort to my Steak knife! The side of Brussels sprouts needed something… like crumbled bacon & drizzle of reduced basalmic glaze or just a classic spritz of lemon juice. The vegetables needed more. The meats were délicieux!!! Oh my! Yes. Maybe they just over shadowed the greens. I love the ambiance for sure! We will be back to try different sides.
Decent food with interesting atmosphere & decor. Nice party rooms that can hold 13 people. Scalloped potatoes were my favorite & the asparagus. The fish and meats were good, but a bit too salty for me. I’d like a bit more sprinkles or fresh greens on the plate to cut down on saltiness.
We found this place from a brunch google search. This restaurant has so much charm and character, and has been around since the early 1900s . The decoration and ambiance is unparalleled to other restaurants in the area. A date night would be tremendous here or a celebration. I had the pan friend CHICKEN SCHNITZEL HOLSTEIN! Absolutely delicious with a fresh side salad . It was tender , bursting with flavor and beautifully fried . We also had GRILLED 1855 BLACK ANGUS BISTRO HANGER STEAK and EGGS . The hanger steak was seasoned nicely and cooked to medium rare and served with eggs how you like them. The hash-browns were above average and something to remember . The service was ok, we did sit for a good ten minutes before asked what drinks we would like . The waitress never mentioned her name or recommended any dishes so it was pretty mediocre service . The place has an outstanding view to the back garden area . We will most definitely be back .
A true hidden treasure in Houston. Beautiful log cabin restaurant with a very nice patio area. The scenery is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re in another state. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The meat dishes are very tender, soft, and smoky. However there are some dishes that I don’t think are worth the price, but overall it is a nice restaurant to splurge on and enjoy a different scenery and space.

The atmosphere was stunning! Whether you sit indoors or outdoors, you will enjoy the view. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the food during lunch of Restaurant Week. Starting with the good, the redfish was seasoned perfectly and was tender. The snap peas were crunchy and refreshing but the flavour profile of the dish was lackluster since it lacked acidity. Mafalde is typically my favourite go to at restaurants, but this was awful. Two words: NO SEASONING. We requested chili oil after taking the first bite of which the restaurant could not provide or give an alternative. The server was polite and fast with service but did not ask us how our food was at any time, even when prompted that an add on of seasoning was needed and the dish being untouched. Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great atmosphere and natural setting. The food was good not great. The quail bites were great but other foods were ok. Service was good.
