Opinions de Queen Donut Kolache Houston
We stumbled upon this place and now we’re in love. Kolaches are great, so are the cinnamon rolls.
No old oil after taste on these delightful donuts. I really on my mama fwtp. Nice people good food and very very clean. Are you kidding me? Only one problem... Driving 30 miles every morning for donuts is crazy but hands down best donuts and sandwiches in Houston.
We moved in nearby and tried this place around October and have never looked back. Hands down the best donut place we've had, Shipley's can't compare, especially the kolaches, we like to get the jumbo. My favorite donut is blueberry cake, and again theirs is just top notch. Perfectly soft inside with a nice slight crunch when you bite into the glaze shell. The boudain kolaches are also great. Their iced coffee honestly tastes just like the Golden puffs (or honey smacks) cereals, a bit sweet for me but still great . The prices are also incredibly reasonable, not overpriced at all. Even if there's a line out the door, you won't be waiting long. They keep things moving very fast pace, there's a small eating area inside if you want that, we like to grab and go.
I've been going here for many years. I used to live right down the street. But I still regularly travel to the heights when I want the best. The ownership is absolutely wonderful. Same family that owns Hughie's next door. (Hughie's used to be called Queen Dairy, an off brand DQ that never did very well. Queen Dairy was next to Queen Donut. Cute.) The delicacy here in my opinion is the CROISSANT SAUSAGE & CHEESE KOLACHE. It's buttery and flaky and sausagy and cheesy. Soo Soo good. Absolutely a staple of the heights and the city. Not just another local donut shop. This is better everything. Both sweet and savory. Promise.
The donuts and cinnamon buns taste so good. The reviews are real. However, based on my experience I noticed that the man age around 45-50, that attended to me wasn’t smiling . He looks snobbish. I would appreciate if he will be more friendly to attend to the customer. I noticed also that there tables needed to be clean. So that the next customer that will sit there will be more comfortable to use there tables.
Absolutely delicious! I got sausage and cheese kolaches, ham and cheese croissants, glazed donuts and apple fritters for a party - all amazing. Probably some of the best I’ve tried in Houston. If you have not been, you need to add this one to your list.
Sending some love to my local donut shop! Queen donut is exactly what you want from a donut shop... fresh tasty, classic donuts, fast service and smiling faces the atmosphere, nostalgic, and old times, the kolaches are savory and juicy, and the classic glazed donuts, rival Shipleys. We sometimes walk over to the shop on the weekends for breakfast. Highly recommend! Thank you queen donut!
I've been getting donuts and other breakfast items here for years and never misses staff is very kind and let you take your time and don't rush you when you're trying to make a decision on what to get. They also have a really good variety of flavors for donuts or cake donuts and their meat donuts are really good to you if they see this or you I recommend that they make a version of their meat donuts but where the breading is glazed and then everything else is stays exactly how it is highly recommend check them out
Loved their jumbo kolaches and efficient and friendly service. The kolaches were served warm fresh out of the oven. What made them stand out was the fact that the bread was slightly crusty/flakey and the hotdog was larger than usual, making for a more balanced bread-to-meat ratio. I’ve had fancier juicer sausages, which probably taste great on their own, in kolaches but for $2.80, the Queen Donut ones are a winner!
This place makes me so happy — I go almost every Sunday and my pup loves riding with me every time. I have a sweet tooth only for donuts, and of all the donut shops in town (I have tried almost all of them), I their glaze is the best. The cinnamon sugar twist is out of this world good. They have amazing prices, good hot breakfast items / kolaches, and a pretty on point selection of cold drinks including sodas, Red Bull, even strawberry milk. Friendly staff and super quick service every time! Clean restaurant and a great family friendly atmosphere to take kids for a treat.
Delicious donuts and kolaches! The dough they use for the kolaches has just a tiny hint of sweetness which is extra delicious with the savory filling! This place is no where near my home, but worth the drive! There's extra parking in the back. Line might be out the door, but don't let that deter you, it moves quickly.
Before I leave for Dallas I decide to stop at this little shop that specializes in donuts. I get 4: 1 chocolate, 1 caramel, 1 chocolate with hazelnuts and 1 with chocolate and a mixture of corn flakes and fuffetti. The donuts are well filled and nicely decorated. The dough is a cross between a classic donut and a doughnut. Yummy, maybe a thoughtful thread, but yummy nonetheless. The place is really simple, with a display case that shows off the products nicely. Service is fast and friendly. The price of the donuts is absolutely right.
I never noticed this place. Before today, but my friend was needing a sugar fix . There are no vegan options here this is donut shop classic donuts and kolaches. The clerk told me independently owned for over 26 years. I noticed a core of locals coming through. It is clean service fast and friendly. There is ample parking
The donuts here are good...fresh and soft. I love stopping by for a quick treat or a breakfast croissant. The staff is friendly and prompt. BUT — fair warning: if you're paying with a card and your total is under $5, they’ll still charge you a flat $5. I was told it’s due to extra fees from their bank, but it’s a bit frustrating if you’re just grabbing a single donut or coffee. That said....make sure to either bring cash or plan to buy a couple things to avoid that extra charge.
Came to try the maple bacon. Would give a 4 It was good but was missing something. Maybe the bacon wasn't crispy enough. But was not bad. Cheese sausage croissant was good but little soggy. Jalapeño cheese sausage kolaches had the best flavor but too much bread to stuff ratio for me. The apple fritter was probably the best as far as flavor. Big selection and open 7 days a week. Friendly staff. If you are in the area go but not worth traveling for.
Used to be great with the old owners. Now VERY inconsistent quality. Boudin kolache seems to taste different EVERY week. Sometimes great, sometimes mediocre, and sometimes downright horrible. Today was horrible, and tasted like an old used washrag. Other times the sausage casing had the consistency of a condom, and still other times there were hard inedible chunks in the boudin. Not the same ownership as when I started going there. One day to the next it changed hands, and the quality started going south. Very close to hitting Shipley's in my neighborhood, at least I know they'll be dependable and consistent.
I attempted to find a spot to work for the morning and stopped here. I was ok for a few hours (8-10) before employees started being rude. Employee told me to go home because he needs to mop. It was around 10am the first time and again around 11:10. I asked each time what time they closed and they said 1:30pm. The sign on the door says they close at 12pm. Mind you this same worker mopped the floor the first time around 10. I told the worker I was confused as I thought he had a language barrier. He said no you’re not confused. Leave. Turns out they were all just plain rude and asked me to leave specifically so they could go home. I was out of the way sitting at the very back table. I got the impression that he saw me on my phone so he started singing loudly in an attempt to make me leave. I didn’t want to assume so I kept working. I figured as much now because other staff was randomly coming to the front to witness his actions. They of course were speaking in their native language. I offered to put my feet up and/or move the 2nd time so he could finish. Again, I’m was working and making active calls and on my laptop. This place is super unprofessional and it only shows I guess if you spend more than a hour inside. Spending money at an establishment that doesn’t welcome its immediate community openly is not somewhere I suggest investing your hard dollars. They thrive because they’re not showing their true selves with quick interactions. I welcome you to about them about this review.
